Hi Broncos Country!

We are reporting to you from military bases in the Middle East. The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders — Allyson, Heather, Jessica, Kim and Lindy, along with Kelly (Director of JDBC and DBC alum) — are performing and boosting the morale of our troops in Kuwait and Iraq. We would like to share with Broncos country the last couple of days on our amazing journey.

Day 1
We arrived in Kuwait and had lots of emotions. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity and to be able to somewhat have a glimpse of what it’s like to be in the military. When we landed, the sky was filled with sand; we landed just in time to see the end of a sandstorm. It was over 120 degrees and we were told we were in the hottest place on the planet. Every time we want to complain about the heat we all catch ourselves in the act, as we are only here for a week and our military men and women endure this heat for months and in full combat gear.

Day 2
We are spending the first two nights at Camp Arifjan, we went to Arifjan Headquarters where we were briefed with the whole history of Kuwait and the our military presence here. We saw the map of Kuwait with all the military bases that are located in Kuwait. We were each presented with a commander’s coin. These coins are presented to soldiers as a symbol of appreciation and hard work. We have learned that Kuwait is a very safe country.

Then we were off to another base in Kuwait, KNB — Kuwait Naval Base — for our first show! The Kuwait Naval Base is a Kuwaiti military base; the US portion is called Camp Patriot. We took a tour of an army vessel where 17 personnel live for 4 months at a time and the food and energy supply lasts 14 days. We had some Pittsburgh Steelers fans onboard, and we may have converted them to Denver Broncos fans. The main purpose at Camp Patriot is to wash and clean all the military vehicles to be shipped back to the United States. It takes 23 hours to clean the largest tank!

We were highly anticipating our first show! The stage was outside, next to the volleyball court (Top Gun style) with a large Denver Broncos Cheerleaders banner at the back of the stage. We were so pumped to perform for our troops. We did a meet and greet before the show, said a prayer and performed our hearts out. Some highlights of the show, included the participation of Col. Rusher (AKA “Little Lenny”), not only did he give the cheerleaders some military orders but he also busted out a great air guitar performance – zebra pants and all.

Day 3
Well, day 2 and day 3 go right into each other. Day 2 ended at midnight and day 3 started at 3:15 a.m. We took a two-hour bus ride to Ali Al Salem where the airport is located. For military flights, they require you to be there EARLY — and I mean EARLY. We were fitted for our armored jackets and helmets before the flight. We took a C-130 plane to Camp Balad, all was well until we started to land. The pilots did a combat landing which they called “a hurricane bumper” which unfortunately caused one of our cheerleaders to get a little sick. The pilots let the cheerleaders sit in the cockpit and even fly the plane – what an experience! We arrived at Camp Balad, which houses approximately 17,000 troops. They are starting the process of clearing out and closing this base down, they plan to have only 4,000 troops at this base by November.

After eating lunch with the troops, we took a tour of the F-16′s and armory. After dinner, it was time for show number two; unfortunately Jessica was still under the weather so we needed to re-set the show minus one cheerleader. The show must go on! The Army General and Air Force General at Camp Balad presented the team with commander’s coins before the show. We were so honored that they went out of their way to greet us. We are the last entertainment group to perform at Camp Balad in Iraq — and we went out with a bang! After the show, LTC Hamburg presented the cheerleaders with an American Flag, which was flown onboard a United States Army Blackhawk helicopter during a combat mission just prior to our arrival. We anticipate bringing the American Flag home to share with Broncos Country!

Day 4
We arrived at the military airport to depart Camp Balad, we were greeted by over 200 soldiers that were awaiting their departure home! There were lots of smiles, laughter and joy as these soldiers were so excited to go home to see their families. We sat and listened to stories and couldn’t help but share in their excitement, as we provided them with Broncos hats and memorabilia for their flight home. We took a private C-130 flight from Camp Balad to COB Speicher. We were so pumped to arrive at Speicher because this is where many of our Fort Carson soldiers are stationed. SGM Leeling, from Colorado, presented us with the Ivy Division 4th Infantry coin, as well as their own personalized football jerseys. We even incorporated their jerseys into our show as one of our costumes!

We were told by a soldier after our show that this is the longest he has smiled on his deployment — it was the most heartwarming comment. Every show, we make a point to tell our troops how important the military is to Broncos Country and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. We cheer on the Broncos at every home game for our 76,000 fans and every single day we cheer on our troops. During this tour, we are their cheerleaders!

Sincerely from Iraq,
Allyson, Heather, Jessica, Kim, Lindy and Kelly

Yeah I had NFL Sunday ticket for years, until I realized I was getting screwed it ain’t worth it!!!!!!!!

  2. Mikeyb1203 says:

Haha I thought of two different contingency plans for the Sunday ticket to give the NFL a hit and be able to watch the beloved broncos, either go to the sports bar every time they play (because they buy it to bring in fan) or get a group of friends find out which one has the biggest tv and all pitch in and watch it at their house every weekend. I say that because me living in Texas the broncos are only televised when on prime time and having alread missed most the 2009 season I don’t think I could handle missing another season. But doing either one would make them lose alot of revenue.

  3. Mikeyb1203 says:

Happy birthday BFE it’s also my fathers birthday.

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

Mikey it’s all screwed up brother, they already lost a ton of revenue, but will lose more,as it should be,I could care less.Us as fans pay the salaries of the owners and players, they could care less if there is a season or not,and I as a fan of almost 30 years, could care less if we have a season or not,I shall not spend one red cent on any NFL merchandise or anything to do with the NFL….not really…I hope we have a season, but I can make it without a season,as long as somebody learns a lesson!!!!!

BFE, glad you made it through your 41st, happy birthday!

  16. baylinorcrush says:

About Direct TV I quit the NFL ticket way back then when it went above $149.95. That was a deal, now it’s a rip off.

Sports bar is the ONLY way to go if not in the mountain west area, never miss a game and watch it with Bronco buddies and your favorite beer!

Here is an interesting what if Q & A by Legwold:

Q: What happens if the NFL lockout wipes out the entire 2011 season? Would the 2012 draft order be the same as the 2011 draft order? And if so, would the Broncos try to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck ?

A: When the lockout started March 12, most people in the NFL believed no regular-season games would be canceled. Now, most people in the NFL believe training camps and at least part of the regular season will be affected by the lockout.

If the entire 2011 season were lost, the 2012 draft would be in limbo. The 2011 draft was the last NFL event in the collective bargaining agreement.

There could be a supplemental draft this summer for players such as former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor . But there can’t be a full-scale draft on the NFL calendar without a collective bargaining agreement. If the courts allow the lockout to stay in place and there is no collective bargaining agreement in time to play the 2011 season, there would be no draft order and no draft in 2012.

Luck, the likely No. 1 overall draft pick whenever he becomes available, has two years of eligibility remaining at Stanford — covering the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

If a new collective bargaining agreement doesn’t include a draft, college players eligible for the NFL would be free to negotiate with any team. The teams with the most revenue, the most cash, would have a huge advantage if that were to happen. In that scenario, the pursuit of Luck would be epic and involve nearly every team in the NFL.

    The interesting points?

First and foremost “Now, most people in the NFL believe training camps and at least part of the regular season will be affected by the lockout.”
That my Bronco friends is the hard truth of the matter.

Also imagine a year without a draft????? Where every eligible player can sign with any team????

And this year’s supplemental draft is probably the next thing that they will feed us to keep us alive, LOL.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

And this is for BFE (Happy B-Day haha) and the ones who like big guns:

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2011/06/08/apparently-tim-tebow-has-been-working-out/7636/

  19. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, about Terrelle Pryor in a possible supplemental draft, this is from Shefter:

Saskatchewan Roughriders already talking to, and targeting, former OSU QB Terrelle Pryor.

    Better hurry NFL, LOL.

  20. oldsouthstander says:

Is it possible for JE to become majority owner of the Broncos in spite of not having the mega-bucks it takes to become a majority owner? First issue is the Phipps right of first refusal when Bowlen decides to sell the Broncos. Let’s face it, the Phipps are not exactly spring chickens and should in all reality be considered a non-factor at this point in time because of their age. Next hurdle is where does JE get the extra money needed to become majority owner? Simple, he get a humongous loan from his best friend PB. JE is now majority owner of the Broncos. Not to probable, but not out of the realm of possibilities.

  21. true2broncos says:

    Happy Birthday BFE!!! 8)

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  22. strandoftds says:

BFE, just plain crazy. Earlier in the day you said something might happen and it did. Don`t they get it. Alot of those idiots are single minded. They don`t care what you say, all because your wearing a NFL Tebow jersey. The guy deserved to get popped in the mouth.

  23. strandoftds says:

BFE, I just read your 8:43 P.M. post bro. Wow, you really clocked him if you broke his jaw, damn. Only 20 minutes in a bar and hell breaks loose, what a B-day huh?! LOL

  24. baylinorcrush says:

The only thing I get out of BFE’s experience is that I am no way close to buying a Tebow jersey.

  25. strandoftds says:

I hear ya. If there is a season this year we should find out way more about Tim Tebow. We`ll know if we have a QB for the future and for years to come. I`m pulling for him. I think Tebow will answer the call.

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes….btw Bay I will still wear my Tebow jersey proudly,if someone has a problem with it too Damn bad.

    Man my hand hurts,lol.

  27. imready says:

Bay, I thought you be changing the name to “jockey” or The Te-bowfin” .LOL Made the last payment on my boat Tuesday and fixed the hydraulic steering yesterday. My boast hasn’t been on the water in a couple of years , the price of gas ruined the experience for me. Just couldn’t justify a couple hundered bucks to feel that tug on the end of the line. However, being unemployed has it’s advantages. I can fish during the week at a closer reservoir , it’s smaller too so it won’t be so expensive to go with the added bonus that the Game and Fish tagged a bunch of walleye . Turn in the tag and they give you between $5 and $100 bucks. Pass the sunscreen please.

  28. imready says:

Dang, suppose to read change the name of your boat! LOL

  29. baylinorcrush says:

LOL, “Orange Crush” forever she will be, bad luck to rename a boat as any seaman knows. However some Tebow fan could name their boat
“Stern to T-Bow Awesome”. Only a true boat owner from Florida would be able to get that one though, haha, but I like it.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

    “Inspiration Stern to T-Bow”

  31. strandoftds says:

BFE, if I was in your shoe`s I wouldn`t show up at that paticular bar for awhile. Play it safe bro, so you won`t get arrested is what I`m saying. Thats me though.

  32. imready says:

I’ve never named any of my boats but I have thought of putting something like “I’ll blow your f-in head off if I hear your cell ringing when I’m out fishing” on the transom.LOL Actually, I don’t own any guns but it just seems wrong to use a phone on a boat unless you have no choice. I get on the water to get away from that kind of crap. Lucky for me I live in Wyoming and for the most part my favorite resevoir is used by fisherman who are there for the same reason.
Hail the size of golf balls not too far from here yesterday and it’s getting whipped up again tonight. The river I can see from where I sit is 6″ from flooding, lucky for me I’m on the other side of the street. Maybe soon I’ll have river front property.

  33. baylinorcrush says:

sndvl, thanks for revealing the scam pic of Tebow, the one of him on the DP was from much further back and it never even occured to me that it had been doctored, people with nothing but time on their hands in this lockout I guess, LOL.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

And weed in a cigar???? Come on cops you can do better than that, talk about a sick smoke, the puking would be worse than the high, haha.

  35. baylinorcrush says:

Legwold is stating the obvious which has been a matter of fact for quite a while now:

With the NFL lockout keeping things all quiet on the AFC West front, the more the offseason slips away, the more it could end up tilting the balance of power to the two teams in the division that don’t have new head coaches.

The Broncos, with John Fox, and the Raiders, with Hue Jackson, have yet to have a workout with their new team since being hired.

“But I think everybody is facing the same thing right now,” Fox said. “We’ll be ready to go when we get the word and will work with whatever circumstances we have to.”

Still, given that either the Chargers or Chiefs have won the division every season since 2006, and that both have their head coaches back and their rosters by and large settled, it could give them an early jump when football begins again.

In more normal times, organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamps would be in full swing this week. But around the league, everybody is left staring at their wants and needs with no way to address them.

Like I have been saying, the only improvement I can see us make this season in our division is finishing ahead of the Raiders and that’s it, the rest is a pipe dream, or a cigar weed ladden dream, LOL.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

I guess Legwold is catching the Bronco blues somewhere in Denver because he even goes into darker facts:

    Broncos: Holes everywhere

Their draft class bolstered things at linebacker, safety and tight end, but the team still has needs all over the depth chart.

Former Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams and former Rams fullback Mike Karney will get long looks for the backfield. Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins is expected to be the most sought-after defensive lineman on the market, because he can play in a 3-4 like the Packers play or a 4-3.

However, most teams see the Broncos as “cash-poor” at the moment, so it’s uncertain how much they will pursue big, long-term deals in free agency.

I think we might just have to wait a while before our team is feared once again, specially at Invesco. I know all that. But like wiemin said the other day it hurts a lot none the less, mediocrity is not exactly what us long time Bronco fans have beeen accustomed to, and Mr. Saccomano’s constant reminders of our greatness past and overall impressive records doesn’t make taking this sadly humbling pill any easier.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

And he doesn’t stop here, Jeff even tries his best to discard the best hope we have on our roster right now at RB as far as I’m concerned:

LenDale White signed a two-year contract with the Broncos in August of 2010.

At 235 pounds, he fits the profile of a John Fox running back, and at his best, White has shown nimble feet and some elusiveness in traffic. When he has struggled, his coaches have questioned his attitude and he has run like a far smaller back than he is.

In his best season, he rushed for 1,110 yards and scored 15 rushing touchdowns for the Titans in 2008. To put that in perspective, the Broncos haven’t had a back score 15 rushing touchdowns in season since Clinton Portis had 15 in 2002.

But White suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon in the preseason finale last year and missed the entire 2010 season.

There is always a question about full recovery from a ruptured Achilles in a running back. Some players are never the same, especially a bigger back like White.

He has participated in at least some of the group workouts the Broncos have had during the lockout but is not at full speed.

Also, players cannot rehab their injuries at the team complex during the lockout, so whatever progress White is making is being made on his own.

So to be part of the Broncos’ plans, he’s going to have to show he has made progress in his return. Again, that’s a huge question with the type of injury he had, especially in a player who has had his work ethic and weight questioned in the past.

I guess I can’t be upset at Legwold since he is telling it like it is, which is exactly what I constantly work on doing here myself. Living in fantasy land has never brought in one once of positive turnaround in the world of professional football, the only way to get back on your feet is to face exactly how bad you really are just like I was asking Elway and Fox to do the other day.

The days of the “we are a few pieces away and a few plays away from having a great record” attitude gotta end once and for all. Sorry to all the forever Broncos optimists out here, obviously this is not your day, LOL. But you can blame Legwold this time!

  38. baylinorcrush says:

That said Jeff makes his “predictions” of how we might address our most glaring holes, RB, FB and DT:

So, that said, the Broncos will almost certainly look to add at least one running back and one fullback when free agency begins. Mike Karney , who played for the Rams last season, is the most likely candidate at fullback, while most everyone in the league believes Fox will take a run at running back DeAngelo Williams , who played for him in Carolina.

They’ll take a long look at plenty of defensive linemen as well, especially at tackle. The Panthers are expecting to have 28 potential free agents, and included on that list is defensive end Charles Johnson, a third-round pick by Fox in the 2007 draft.

And it all only makes too much sense even so he didn’t adress the DT position per say, I can see all those three things happening with the longest shot being DE Johnson.

  39. baylinorcrush says:

Here is a good variation of mine of a joke I saw on the Shefter twitter:

If you ask Kyle Orton for a dollar, he’ll only give you three quarters; he never gives you the fourth quarter.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

Good thing everything in the NFL is “dead” now, just imagine how long I would of beeen on if it wasn’t, LOL.

  41. collies10 says:

Bay I am an optimist. I can see this labour situation being resolved within the next 3 weeks. Talks are continuing and I believe are possibly making progress with the limited info we have available.

I have never known two sides to talk and not to be removing issues. They obviously feel there is a reason to keep coming back (both sides). We all know that reason is money and as I believe you have constantly pointed out Bay, nothing talks louder than money. We are entering squeaky bum time, ie the time were if it is not sorted both sides will lose. Season is just around the corner.

And although last 3 months have been tiring, once deal is done there will be a million things happening at once due to limited time available. So hold on to your horses boys.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

“entering squeaky bum time”, hahahaha. Always love an international flavored input here, LOL.

  43. royalbroncofan1 says:

A few DT’s available in FA this year:

    1) Brandon Mebane – DT Seahawks
    2) Barry Cofield – DR Giants
    3) Cullen Jenkins DT – Packers
    4) Nick Hayden DT – Panthers
    5) Paul Soliai DT – Dolphins

All of these players are under 30 with the exception of Jenkins who is 30 yrs old. Jenkins may take a pay cut and stay with the Packers, or he could elect to cash in. He had 7 sacks at DT during GB’s Super Bowl run season. We will need to free up some funds, in order to sign one of these FA’s. The triumvirate already has their plan in place so just a matter of time……. I hope.
Legwold should be looking to put a positive spin on the situation, and focus on who can help us …. lol.

  44. royalbroncofan1 says:

sorry for typo on Cofield… new position DR… lol!

  45. royalbroncofan1 says:

LOL bay !! KO needs to quit short changing us! LOL!!

  46. baylinorcrush says:

As far as DT’s are concerned for the Triumvirate:

    Plan A was Nick Fairley

    Plan B was Jarvis Jenkins

So they are now working on plan C.

So thanks for helping them out rbf1, LOL.

  47. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, the joke would of beeen even better if I said:

If you ask Kyle Orton change for a dollar, he’ll only give you three quarters, he will never give you the fourth, haha.

  48. seweatherman1 says:

Good morning guys. Sorry been gone for a while, but medical issues preceeded me getting on here.

BFE-Happy belated birthday! Sorry about the incident at the watering hole, but yes the guy needed to keep his mouth shut about Tebow. Hopefully he “got your point”! I am 60 years old, 500+ pound, retired law enforcemenmt and will knock a s.**. b. out over making such comments. Had one do that one time in a bar about my family and wife, and he slept for a week. I no longer go to bars jsut for that reason. Always somebody there that thinks they can whip the biggest guy there, and that is usually me that is the biggest.

Been trying to read back on these blogs and Bay, has some interesting stuff above here about the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The only thing that I can add is that there will be some prime realestate for sale shortly if this thing does not get settled. These owners can not hold out forever because they have bills to pay like everybody else. And, unless these players have their massive amounts of money set aside to live on for some time, they will be out looking for work like us regular guys.

Is everybody ready for some soccer? The football stadiums will be sold to soccer franchises shortly!
