Hey Broncos Country!
My name is Serita and I was chosen, by my teammates, to represent the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders in the 2011 Pro Bowl in Hawaii!
Now that my bags are unpacked and I’m back on my regular sleeping schedule, I thought I’d give you a little taste of what the experience and highlights of the week leading up to Pro Bowl entailed!
I arrived on Monday, January 24th, and met up with the rest of the 2011 Pro Bowl Cheerleaders for dinner. We had a wonderful time introducing ourselves and sharing our thoughts and emotions on being chosen to represent our teams in this life-changing event! I roomed with Deri’ Andra from the New Orleans Saints and her Super Bowl pendant is beautiful!
The second day was nerve-wrecking, just because I didn’t know what to expect! However, our orientation Ron Kellum and Maria Gianini made us feel so calm and excited to get our time in Hawaii started! They are two of the most motivational and inspiration people I have ever come in contact with, and my life will never be the same again after having spent six days with them and the other amazing staff of E2K! Off to rehearsal for five hours! We came together so well and danced as one NFL team right from the beginning! Now it’s off to our sunset photo shoot for our 2011 Pro Bowl Cheerleaders photo card! Beautiful!

On Wednesday, January 26th, my line, AFC 2, along with a few of the mascots, had the honor of visiting Shriner’s and Kapiolani Children’s Hospitals. The staff was so welcoming, and the children were so inspirational and uplifting! It is always honor to do hospital visits whenever possible. It is hard to see these children, so young, going through such hard times. But if for a few minutes we can put a smile on their face and help them to escape some of the pain they are in, then that is a life-changing opportunity for us to be involved in!

On Thursday, January 27th, we had our first rehearsal at Aloha Stadium! Wow! Now the experience is really starting to sink in! We found out that we would be performing with the Goo Goo Dolls and were so ecstatic! We had to take a break every ten to fifteen minutes just to keep ourselves hydrated! It sure was hot!
Sunday, January 30th, GAME DAY! Today is a very emotional game for me, as I am retiring this year as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader and hanging up my cowgirl boots and chaps. So, this is my last game dancing in the most fabulous uniform in the NFL, and representing my teammates and coaches, and every other Denver Broncos Cheerleaders fans! And speaking of fans, there were so many Broncos fans in the stands at the game! It was so fantastic to look up at every section of the stadium I encountered and see and interact with our fans!

There were so many people that were involved in creating this year’s 2011 Pro Bowl pre-game show and it turned out so beautiful! They really did an amazing presentation of intertwining the symbolization of the NFL along with the Ohana spirit of Hawaii! And the Hawaiian spirit sure did show it’s face again as it rained on us before the game (which I secretly prayed for), but it was perfect weather afterwards! And you better believe that I truly represented BRONCOS COUNTRY by finishing the game in my chaps uniform! The fans that attended seemed to appreciate this as well!
All in all, the experience was life-changing in every way possible! It was an experience that I wish every one of my teammates could experience. I will carry the memories with me forever, and reminisce about one of the most beautiful days of my life. It was breathtaking, memorable and emotional in all ways imaginable . . . . . . truly, unforgettable.
“A hui hou kakou”, until we meet again,
Serita
