New Season, Old Legacy

September 3rd, 2010 - 12:32pm by cheerleaders

With the preseason complete and the 2010 season opener approaching, the new Broncos season has kicked off. All of us in Broncos Country could not be more ready.

Entering my third season on this incredible team, I had no idea how fast it would actually fly by. But here we are again. Summer is coming to an end, and you can practically taste the energy in the air. That first regular season game is just around the corner.

From new players that have the town talking, to predictions and hopes for the season, to the new cheerleaders, or “rookies”, on our team, this entire organization is pumped up and ready. Each year, new additions to both teams help drive motivation for the coming season, but it’s no easy task to join a new team, let alone one with such high expectations and history of excellence, like the legacy of the Denver Broncos.

From the moment my name was called at the finals three years ago, I have grown to understand what this means. From the bottom up, people within this organization strive for excellence, and nothing less. Whether it’s making sure the Broncos are a part of the Denver community, or striving to have the best starting lineup that our fans can be proud of, everything is done to make sure this team upholds the standards that are expected of us.

For a rookie joining the cheerleading team, it can be pretty overwhelming, in the best way possible. With hard practices, lots of dances, learning how to always represent the Broncos in the best way possible, and physically and mentally getting prepared for that first step on the field, it’s a big job. Now, after two games under our belt, I must say that our rookies have far exceeded expectations. The entire first year on this team is a learning experience, and it certainly does not stop there.

As a veteran, we never stop striving to better ourselves as teammates, and we’re expected to lead the rookies and share the legacy of our team. When it comes to game day, one thing we always stress, is how to “be present” in every moment. You only have that one moment to give it your all, try your hardest, and make fellow alumni cheerleaders and Broncos fans proud.

It has been an honor to share the legacy with the new women on this team, and shocking how fast three years goes by when you’re having fun!

Whether it’s one of our new players, or a new cheerleader, the new rookies help kick off the new season, and will be part of the future of the Denver Broncos legacy that all of us here in Broncos Country know and love.

BFE “hi 5″ to u. I agree 100%. You are a true Bronco Bro.

    Go McGenius, Go Broncos!!!

  2. weareamr says:

BF30 I like the way you think Bronco Bro of mine, well stated. A true bleeder of Orange an Blue.

    Go McGenius, Go Broncos!!!

  3. broncosfreak30 says:

Well Blount never got released but Gado did on the Titans! Also Moroney never got released either!

Some big notable backs that could make an impact and get those short yards are Willie Parker, Ladell Betts, and Samkon Gado! I hope we get one of these players and soon because I am sure that teams are looking at them! Look at how long it took Derrek Ward to get signed by a team, only like a day or two!!!

Come on McD, sign us another piece of the puzzle!!

I love me some Broncos Country!!

  4. broncosfreak30 says:

    Weareamr…

Yes sir I am!! The Broncos are like my life and always will be!! They are soo much more than just a team to me!! I can see it in you as well along with most of all the regulars that are on here that we all talk to!!

WE LOVE US SOME BRONCOS COUNTRY BABY!!!

  5. Danso says:

I think team McD made some gud choices today. Now if they could find a powerback we could be set. Ian Johnson has heart & grit & could b the guy. Go Broncos.

  6. broncosfreak30 says:

Well guys apparently the Giants are willing to trade RB Danny Ware and he is 25 and 232 lbs!! He played really good in the preseason! This is the guy that we should go after because I think we could easily get him for a 5th or 6th round draft pick!!!!!

That would be our best bet I believe!!!

  7. broncosfreak30 says:

    Danso..

Hey man, we need someone heavier to move the sticks and fight for those extra yards! He’s only 212!

We definitely shouldn’t get someone really old who is injury prone!! I really hope we pick up Danny Ware!

Watch till the end…Prime time is sticking up for tebow, now thats a compliment.

  9. broncosfreak30 says:

Yea Blaze…I saw that earlier and really enjoyed it!!

It really tells you something when Sanders, Bailey, and Elway say how Tebow is going to be a great QB!!!

I mean for everyone who can’t understand that pretty much doesn’t understand much about football!! You have 3 hall of famers saying how he’s going to be great!!

I believe Elway with anything he says!!

  10. bronco-blaze says:

sucks worrel got cut, i hope he makes the p squad

  11. broncosfreak30 says:

Dang where is everybody?? I want to see some news with something about how were looking at some of the power backs! I guess were going to be discrete about it with how we don’t want another team to come in and take that player away from us!!!

Who did that to us again??? Ohh yea, the faiders in the draft whenever they took McClain!! I can’t wait to completely destroy them and the chargers this year!! Hurry up staff and get us a really good power back, preferably Danny Ware! DANG, what is McD going to do!! I will tell you one thing, he does drive me absolutely crazy in not giving out hints or anything with what he’s going to do!!

You just have to love the guy!!

I love me some Broncos Country!!

  12. florio's_mom says:

Branstater got cut by the colts. Lol

  13. bronco-blaze says:

Dude branstater put up 3 tds too, thats effin nuts. I heard he was doing good for the colts =(

  14. bronco-blaze says:

IF he was cut of course, which i havent found anything on it yet. However, i dont see the colts bringing in 3 qbs for the season.

  15. BroncoAussie says:

I read that Dre Bly was cut by the Lions and they then traded for Smith? I feel bad for Bly haha

  16. FTR says:

McD is learning. I am happy with the cuts. Mr. B is most likely feeling the growing pains in his wallet more then anyone. I have been cheering on Syd’Quan Thompson and glad he was not hung out on wavers. He should be on the roster as well as Cassius Vaughn. Neither of them would have cleared waivers to the practice squad!! More then one team where licking their lips hoping to snatch one of these young and talented DB’s. These kids can play! Hate to see Stokley go and hope they treat him right with at least 4 game checks while finalizing his (severance pay) on the PUP list.
All in all I am pleased McD admitted to some mistakes and swallowed his pride for the first time in letting Phozy go. And did it with the Broncos getting something in return!! Losing that 14 th overall 1st rounder upset me. I would have still liked to have Tony and Hillis on this final 53. But that’s just me. Because you know what.—I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!
    Here we come Jacksonville.
    GO BRONCOS
    FTR

  17. Big D 44 says:

Well, all in all that was pretty darn mundane. I like the move with Phonzy, but we are still questionable at running back. Guess the coaches must know something that I don’t. All of us bloggers kept talking about our short yardage problems, and yet here we are again. No health at running back, and no power back. Guess I’ll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I agreed with Bay about dropping Quinn and Phonzy and getting a power back, looks like we got 1/3 of our wish. I’m staying optimistic but right now there are more questions than there are answers. And nobody knows anything. How well is Moreno coming along? Last I saw him, he looked pretty gimpy. Whats the word with D. Thomas? How is the health of our 3 best lineman (Clady, Harris, Kuper)? Are we going to be able to convert 3rd and 2, or 4th and goal? Bah humbug.

    But……. ILMSDB

  18. Big D 44 says:

Sorry if I’m being a bit of a “Debby Downer”, maybe it’s just my hang over that’s making me grumpy. LOL On a positive note, I just read an article on the DP about Ayers. He seems to have really made big strides and has a great attitude. I’m excited to see what he does this year. The article also pointed out something that I was already thinking, the defense is going to be a lot more aggressive once the regular season starts. I am very excited about the potential on Defense. We just need to contain the run, because our pass D is going to be great.

    ILMSD…

  19. FTR says:

    Big D 44
Lots of players out there that are available on waivers. Spice this up for us and give your thoughts on who could maybe fill the other 2/3 rds. I have only started looking this morning but will be doing my homework as the weekend goes. Have a Bloody Mary and that will make Debby Downer go away—for a little while. lol

  20. Yovi21 says:

so is there any chance at all Demaryius Thomas could play in the opener?

  21. Big D 44 says:

Yeah, FTR. I will check it out. Could use another running back to bolster our back field. I guess all the injury stuff became a bit too much. And I’m not hurting that bad, LOL. Just a little tired and waiting for some miraculously wonderful news.

    ILMSDB…

  22. Big D 44 says:

    Still waiting……

  23. texark-fan says:

The Denver Broncos have claimed running back Andre Brown off of waivers from the New York Giants, per Adam Caplan and Mike Garafolo via Twitter.

Brown was a fourth round pick of the Giants in 2009 out of North Carolina State. A torn Achilles kept him out of his rookie season.

For his college career, Brown rushed for 2,539 yards and 22 touchdowns on 523 carries.

this is from THE MILE HIGH REPORT

  24. Big D 44 says:

Allright, thanks texark-fan. Torn achilles. YIKES. Hopefully he is good to go.

Off to mow the lawn. I’ll check in later. Keep it coming.

I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS….

  25. Big D 44 says:

And he has turf toe which would most likely keep him out against Jacksonville. Just adding depth. Definately not miraculously wonderful.
    But I guess it’s something.

OK, now I’m really going to go mow the lawn. lol

  26. bronco-blaze says:

I am really bummed about white too, it seems as if he really wanted to be apart of our team :(

  27. Yovi21 says:

blaze its ok, if we can stay healthy maybe next year will be our year, White comes back as our power guy, Doom is back, Bay-Bay is healthy, good things will happen. does anyone have an injury report, I’d like to see who isn’t playing this week.

  28. Big D 44 says:

It’s like cold war Russia with the injury reports. Very secrative. lol

  29. Big D 44 says:

Thanks for the optimism Yovi. You are probably right. But I for one am kind of sick of always waiting for next year to be good. Let’s shut the critics up this year and kick some booty.

  30. weareamr says:

I love mw some Andre Brown, thanks for the gift NYG. This is a great pickup. The next big decision McGenius does for the Bronco organization.

    Go McGenius, Go Broncos!!!

  31. Big D 44 says:

Weareamr, what do you know about Andre Brown? I don’t really know anything about him.

  32. Yovi21 says:

I agree Big D! I want ours this year, over on NFL.com some jags fans are talking crap, I know what your thinking, They have fans? LOL, But I love the smack talking thats starting up.

I wouldn’t write this year off one bit, My only real concern with this year is our D-line, actually its our whole D, if we cant stop the run again we will face some serious issues. I dont care how good our secondary is we wont be able to stop much with 7 in the box every play and not getting to the QB. I really hope that Wink hasn’t shown his real Defense, cuz if thats the case it’s going to be a long year!

  33. Big D 44 says:

Yeah, the “word” is that we have not been showing much. We are suppossed to have a very aggressive defensive scheme this year and we have not been showing that. I agree we need to stop the run. We also need time of possession on offense so our D doesn’t get worn down.

  34. Big D 44 says:

Hahaha, talking smach eh. Every team has there share of idiot fans. But they can’t be worse then Raider and Charger fans. LOL

  35. bronco-blaze says:

Im not expecting a year next year -.- thats why im even more bummed =( stupid selfish rich rookies and such.

  36. marshisboss says:

so who do we get rid of now to make room for brown

  37. Big D 44 says:

They moved Bruce Hall to the practice squad.

  38. marshisboss says:

any other practice squad guys named yet

  39. Big D 44 says:

I haven’t seen that yet. There is an article on the denver post talkng about the acquisition of brown.

  40. broncos20 says:

wow,,best of luck to all those who got cut..

i was a big Phonsi fan, so I was pretty sour when i saw us trading him away,,but to get a (hopefully) a pass-catching TE was good, better be good! dont want to see Phonzi breaking out with the lions..the kid was meant to be a LCB or RCB not nickel….too bad…would’ve kept him over Vaugh..but value was needed in a trade.

anyways, glad we kept most of the good ones….we have a pretty MEAN OL this season,,all bulky..hopefully they remain healthy, the second team was awefull..glad to see Willis making a name for himself

and saw the Depthchart, see Ayers and Moss at OLBs..excited to see what they bring to the table…lets blitz em’ all day, we’ve got a very solid DB group.

i was surpised to see Brandon Lloyd making #1 over Gaffney(slot). hopefully Thomas gets into the mix soon..Decker solid in the middle..Willis can move around..

  41. weareamr says:

Big D, I watched him at the senior bowl. Brown played like a man among boys. He hit the holes quickly, he ran inside and moved every pile, he even showed bursts to the outside. I was impressed by him and the way he played. I thought he would look good in Orange and Blue. My nephew likes NYG and when they drafted him, I congradulated on a good pick NYG made. I even told him I would trade Knowshon strait up for Brown. And when NYG cut him My nephew called me and I said to him that we better pick him up and….. well I looked up some info:

    Andre Brown
    Combine Results:
    40 Yard Dash : 4.49 seconds
    Bench Press : 24.0 reps
    Vertical Jump : 37.0 inches
    Broad Jump : 115.0 inches
    3 Cone Drill : 7.35 seconds
    20 Yard Shuttle : 4.33 seconds

Pick Analysis: Brown is a steal at this point in the draft. The Giants do a good job with picking their players. He really made a name for himself at the Senior Bowl and flashed outstanding skills. He’s got receiving talent and gives the Giants a great replacement for Derrick Ward.

    Overview
After playing in a running back by committee situation his first three years at State, Brown finally was given his opportunity to be the team’s full-time starter as a senior. Despite his excellent playing speed, he relished his role as the team’s inside runner, dishing out more punishment than he received with his excellent size, bulk and strength.

The tailback started 30 of 44 games he appeared in for the Wolfpack, finishing eighth on the school’s career-record list with 2,539 yards. He placed seventh all-time with 523 carries and his 22 rushing touchdowns were good for ninth in State history.

Brown also proved to be more than just a one-dimensional player. He pulled down 70 receptions as the short-yardage receiver. He also averaged 20.0 yards on 17 kickoff returns, as the tailback would end his career by amassing 3,511 all-purpose yards to go with 24 touchdowns, ranking eighth on the school career-record chart.

Brown was a Parade All-American as a senior at Greenville Rose High School in 2003, when he was also named North Carolina’s Associated Press Player of the Year. He scored 47 times during his career and set the state season record with 3,479 yards rushing as a senior, averaging 12.2 yards per attempt to lead the team to the state Class 4A title

    Analysis
Positives: Tall and thick in upper and lower bodies. Strong straight-ahead runner. Nimble enough to sidestep and find a running lane. Lowers his pads to run over tacklers. Will keep his legs churning in short-yardage situations and carry linebackers and safeties for a few yards. Able to stand up to blitzing linebackers. Productive receiver who is a mismatch against safeties in the open field.

Negatives: Runs tall. Lacks elite speed, taking a few steps to get going. Inconsistent hands out of the backfield, body-catches too often. Tends to dance in the hole if there is anyone in his sight. Does not have the quickness to make defenders miss once stopped. Must have more awareness of blitzers off the edge.

Well hope thats a little insight into the “COLLEGE PLAYER” and I understand the pros are way different.

    Go Mcgenius, Go Broncos!!!

  42. Big D 44 says:

Wow. thanks for the info. Seems like a good pick up. I hope he is a diamond in the rough for us. On another note, I just checked the depth chart and it looks like Stanley Daniels got demoted big time. I’m not sure if it is up to date and accurate. But it had Daniels listed as the 3rd string right guard? Sounds like he is in McD’s dog house. He should get Hillis’s phone number, so he can ask him how to cope with being in the McDoghouse. LOL

  43. Big D 44 says:

Also it has quinn listed 2nd string and tebow 3rd string? hmmmm Hopefully it isn’t up to date.

  44. texark-fan says:

The Denver Broncos have claimed offensive tackle Chris Clark and cut outside linebacker Baraka Atkins, per Gary Miller and Max Broncos on Twitter.

Clark was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, and was most recently with the Minnesota Vikings.

The former Southern Mississippi left tackle started three straight seasons for the Golden Eagles from 2006-2008. He will provide the Broncos some size (6’5″ 315) and depth along the offensive line, where it is desperately needed.

I found this on MILE HIGH REPORT

  45. strandoftds says:

Did you all see that Ryan Terain got cut by the Skins

  46. broncosfreak30 says:

Dang, the Titans released Blount! I know he has huge character issues but he can move the piles!! I just hope that Andre can stay healthy and can go by week one even though it doesn’t look like it!! We have just had a lot of bad luck with injury prone backs!! I hope it all works out!!

You know, I wouldn’t mind at all if we released Ball and picked up Blount! We could have an awesome running back core with Moreno, Buck, Blount, and Brown!!

  47. marshisboss says:

Alot of people thought Torain would make a good back but even Shanny appears to have given up on him

  48. thatdude807 says:

Something interesting for u guys to read….. This was the exact same thing i was thinking when the broncos mad these moves….http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/16551/alphonso-smith-trade-is-embarrassing-for-denver
