New Season, Old Legacy

September 3rd, 2010 - 12:32pm by cheerleaders

With the preseason complete and the 2010 season opener approaching, the new Broncos season has kicked off. All of us in Broncos Country could not be more ready.

Entering my third season on this incredible team, I had no idea how fast it would actually fly by. But here we are again. Summer is coming to an end, and you can practically taste the energy in the air. That first regular season game is just around the corner.

From new players that have the town talking, to predictions and hopes for the season, to the new cheerleaders, or “rookies”, on our team, this entire organization is pumped up and ready. Each year, new additions to both teams help drive motivation for the coming season, but it’s no easy task to join a new team, let alone one with such high expectations and history of excellence, like the legacy of the Denver Broncos.

From the moment my name was called at the finals three years ago, I have grown to understand what this means. From the bottom up, people within this organization strive for excellence, and nothing less. Whether it’s making sure the Broncos are a part of the Denver community, or striving to have the best starting lineup that our fans can be proud of, everything is done to make sure this team upholds the standards that are expected of us.

For a rookie joining the cheerleading team, it can be pretty overwhelming, in the best way possible. With hard practices, lots of dances, learning how to always represent the Broncos in the best way possible, and physically and mentally getting prepared for that first step on the field, it’s a big job. Now, after two games under our belt, I must say that our rookies have far exceeded expectations. The entire first year on this team is a learning experience, and it certainly does not stop there.

As a veteran, we never stop striving to better ourselves as teammates, and we’re expected to lead the rookies and share the legacy of our team. When it comes to game day, one thing we always stress, is how to “be present” in every moment. You only have that one moment to give it your all, try your hardest, and make fellow alumni cheerleaders and Broncos fans proud.

It has been an honor to share the legacy with the new women on this team, and shocking how fast three years goes by when you’re having fun!

Whether it’s one of our new players, or a new cheerleader, the new rookies help kick off the new season, and will be part of the future of the Denver Broncos legacy that all of us here in Broncos Country know and love.

LETS GO FOR TJ HOUSH!!!! Seattle is going to release him if a trade doesnt go down. He would be a good pick up, even though our receiving squad is a little full.

    Erica,

Thanks for all the hard you work you girls put as Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. You girls have definitely of not only caught the eyes of the fans, but the NFL as well. My 18 yr old daughter is looking forward to trying out in a few years after she turns twenty one. (High School cheer for 4 yrs).
We enjoy meeting you all at the Broncos Barn before the game and also watching the pre-game performances at the BB. Best wishes to your group and have fun at it.

BFE: I think most of us knew Doom was gone for the season, so not sure who thought he would return in Oct. Maybe initially someone thought this may not have been as serious as it was, but a torn peck. It’s best if Doom sits out the year and avoids any re-aggravation.

I know I’ve mentioned Oct as a possible return for Reid. Still keeping my fingers crossed for him….we’ll see.

Anyone read or heard anything on the status of Demaryious Thomas? DP mentioned day to day last week.

Sorry for the typo Erica — meant “hard work you girls put in”….(I better get some coffee)…lol.

So, Elvis has left the building. Excellent choice. Why put his career on the line by rushing back? I certainly didn’t have him on my final 53 man roster.
The Viking game certainly was a mixed bag.

    OFFENSE

    QB
Orton A+ Kyle is smokinmg hot!!!!
Quinn B+ No deer in the headlight. Still hold onto the ball to long, but he reacted well to the massive rush the Viking were putting on him.
Tebow B– Bad start, but recovered and performed well.

RB C+ Both Halls looked good, but nobody left you wanting more.

WR A+ DEcker and Willis were exceptional.

OL C- Never dominated the line play. Still major problems on short yardage. Second string looked pathetic.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

KIck coverage C+ Let Vikings get past 25 on two occasions.
KIck return D+ Running to many back from deep in the end zone. Wedge totally lacking.
    Punt Coverage A=
Punt return C+ Don’t try to return fom inside the 10, let the ball go and see what happens.

    DEFENSE
DL C- No pass rush. Never dominated line of scrimage.
    LB C Poor gap control.
    SECONDARY B+

Wish this web site would address the concerns of us fans. I guess they really don’t have to do that and probably don’t have any answers to give us. I am still optimistic about this team but we really need the ball to bounce our way a little more.

Cowboys are shopping Tashard Choice RB….. We need to trade for him

  20. thatdude807 says:

DARRELL REID, JARVIS GREEN, AND BRANDON STOKELY was cut this morning

  21. Yovi21 says:

really? ha I could see that coming…thanks for everything though Stokes and Reid, you wont soon be forgotten.

on another note…where is everyone..its cuts day and we have had like 7 posts?? anyone out there?

  22. Yovi21 says:

    Willie parker just got waived!

  23. florio's_mom says:

I’m waiting for shocking news. Saw those cuts coming a mile away.

  24. UKBroncos says:

I’m expecting McD to shock us. Will we be weaker or stronger after this weekend?

    How long until deadline?

  25. Manny 01 says:

I hope we get some rb help or km has a good season. I just hate it when we have to cut players stokely is a great slot player.

  26. thatdude807 says:

DP is reporting that we are looking for a catching TE LOL…. DIDN’T WE TRADE OUR BEST CATCHING TE TO THE LIONS… cause graham, quinn, and branson are hurt

  27. Big D 44 says:

We traded Phonzy to Detroit for TE Dan Gronkowski. He is a second year player and put up solid numbers in the preseason 7 receptions for 80 yards. Detroit was deep at TE like we are deep at DB. I’m happy with this trade. Too bad we wasted those picks on phonzy.

  28. Yovi21 says:

So matt is out of Arizona wow!

  29. zombified says:

As a matter of fact, thatdude, we just traded Phony Phonzy to the Lions for TE Gronkowskyi. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5532034

  30. Big D 44 says:

This will make Baylin happy after his weekend on the orange crush. Dan Gronkowski looks to be a good recieving tight end. He is 6ft. 6in. and 255 pounds and will most likely fill the void as catching TE since Branson is injured.

  31. Yovi21 says:

    Nice..how hurt is Branson?

  32. Big D 44 says:

Now I know how you were feeling earlier Yovi. LOL

  33. Big D 44 says:

Not sure Yovi. I did read somewhere that it was a “significant” knee injury.

  34. Yovi21 says:

yea its surprisingly slow today, I assume thats what your referring to? haha I like that move, but is Grankowski promising or just kind of a fill in? he has only had 1 grab for 4 yards!

  35. Yovi21 says:

Go watch the rookie preview on NFL.com, Deon Sanders talked Tebow UP! haha I think other people are now starting to see he has NFL potential!

  36. florio's_mom says:

    Still not shocking……Lol

    Still good news though. Hahaha

  37. Big D 44 says:

I will have to ckeck that out. I think he has some good potential. He did not play much last year (his rookie year). But this preseason he was tied for most receptions 7 on the Lions. From what I have read the Lions really like Grankowski but could not carry too many tight ends on their roster. Just like how Denver has so much talent at defensive backs, we can’t keep all of them. Plus Detroit really needed help in their defensive backfield.

  38. Big D 44 says:

You’re right Florio. It’s not too shocking. But there were many bloggers that felt we would not trade Phonzy because of him being a high pick. Oh yeah, and we also get a late round pick in that trade.

  39. KnowshonForSure says:

Looks like Stokely on IR not cut, Branson cut

  40. weareamr says:

According to M. Klis ALL THINGS BRONCOS

A wild day of roster transactions has concluded at Dove Valley.

Add the release of tight end Marquez Branson and guard Seth Olsen to the bizarre developments that also included the release of defensive end Jarvis Green, and trade of second-year conrerback Alphonso Smith to the Detroit Lions in exchange for receiving tight end Dan Gronkowski and a draft pick.

The cuts: linebacker Kevin Alexander (undrafted rookie), Branson, receiver Britt Davis, former Colorado tight end Riar Geer, Green, safety Kyle McCarthy, Olsen, Reid, defensive lineman Jeff Stehle (undrafted rookie), and linebacker Worrell Williams.

Alexander, Davis, Geer, McCarthy, Stehle and Williams are candidates for the practice squad that will be announced tomorrow.

The team also placed former Air Force defensive end Ben Garland on the reserve/military’s list, and defensive end Elvis Dumervil and receiver Brandon Stokley on injured reserve.

Stokley’s contract will be terminated as soon as his agent and the team work out an injury settlement. Stokley suffered a groin injury a couple days after the Broncos’ first preseason game.

Branson had been the Broncos’ replacement to Tony Scheffler but as preseason went along, he had issues with dependability and durability. Gronkowski _ a good receiver but not considered much of a blocker _ is now Scheffler’s replacement.

Olsen was the Broncos’ fourth-round pick last year, but after playing with the first team at left guard early in the offseason, he was replaced first by rookie Zane Beadles, then by veteran Stanley Daniels.

Smith was traded away even though the Broncos surrendered a first-round 2010 draft pick (it turned out to be No. 14 overall, which Seattle used to select safety Earl Thomas) to move up in the second round of the 2009 draft. The Broncos gave Smith a $2.15 million signing bonus last year.

They gave Green a $3.255 million guarantee.

    Go McGenius, Go Broncos!!!

  41. Yovi21 says:

where can we get this news??? ha I check on here every 2 min to see if there is new news on who is left and nothing all day!!! They havent even got a blog up for this Trade yet!!!

  42. Yovi21 says:

so is that it? we’re down to 53? I thought it would be more surprising, the only person I’m a lil questionable on is Branson, I feel his play was decent, we are keeping quite a bit of DBs huh?

  43. KnowshonForSure says:

Branson got cut cuz of his injury i believe

  44. broncosfreak30 says:

McD it is awesome how you read everyones mind and got rid of Smith and got a good pass catching TE and another pick for next year, apparently a low pick!! Now go out and get us a Power Back, maybe Willie Parker or Blount, and lets get their nose in our playbook!!

I’m loving what I am seeing!!

I love me some Broncos Country!!!

  45. broncosmex says:

Yea we should go for Willie Parker and cut Bruce Hall.. Idk why we cut Toney Baker and keep Hall in first place.. I was hoping on Baker being our power back.. He is good imho..

  46. marshisboss says:

I see some old broncos being cut from other places like Paymah and Carlton Powell among others i was expecting us to keep Reid and Green but none of the others bother me. Maybe Branson will make it to practice squad

  47. broncosfreak30 says:

Hey guys, I have the preseason package on the computer where you can watch every preseason game online and I just went and watched every play that Gronkowski had and he did good!! He has very good hands and good speed for his size!! He’s also not scared to get hit and requires several people to take him down!! I think this guy will be great for us!!

It’s funny because on NFL.com they had an article about how good Detroit came out of this deal because they needed a CB and they got Smith who was a second rounder last year!! He is soo small and makes soo many mistakes and Dan has showed and proved himself to be a sure talent!! It’s going to be funny during the regular season whenever Smith shows how bas his half pint self is and does just as bad as he did here!!

You know he doesn’t really have a future! I mean he got back up from the NFL’s best CB duo in Champ and Goody and he couldn’t do anything with it!! Look at what Cox and Syd have done with it!!

I think I have proven my point!!

Now lets just get us a powerback and preferably a good offensive lineman!!

I love me some Broncos Country!!

  48. bronco-blaze says:

Naw the broncos will get shafted and Phonzy will do great with the lions lol ITS MEANT TO BE! heh

  49. oldsouthstander says:

Phonzy was a major bust, so I’m delighted that rather than just cutting him, McD was able to get not only a much needed player, but a draft pick. Most busts just are cut and you shake your head and hope you’ve learned a lesson.

  50. weareamr says:
