Hi Broncos Country!
My name is Sam, and I am so happy to share the upcoming Broncos season with all of you out on the field! This is my rookie year as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader, and I’m thrilled. In fact I’ve never been a cheerleader before now, and my experiences to date as a DBC have been life changing.
Since May 9th when the new 2010-2011 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders were chosen, all 26 women have been very busy preparing for the start of the season. As a rookie every moment is new and exciting, however there is a ton of material to prepare in order to meet the high standards that the DBC’s are recognized for. The past 3 months have been filled with intense rehearsals, fitness workouts, appearances, charity events, and photo shoots, just to name a few.
As a DBC we are expected to be in excellent physical shape, to speak well in interviews, to volunteer many hours towards charitable causes, and to represent our organization, the Denver Broncos, the NFL, and our community with the utmost class and integrity.
So, as a rookie my first thoughts about becoming a DBC were: “Wow, what a huge honor!” And yet, it all was a bit overwhelming. “Those are some big shoes to fill,” I thought, “or rather cowboy boots!” But any doubts or concerns I once held about my abilities to be the best representative I can be for the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders were quickly put to rest, thanks to my wonderful veteran teammates.
Guidance and advice from my veteran teammates has been best achieved through our discussions over the Legacy Book.
So, ‘What is a Legacy Book?’ you ask.
Every rookie receives a Legacy Book the day they officially become a part of the team. The Legacy Book is a practiced tradition for the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. It’s a wonderful way for the team to bond, share personal experiences, and speak of the great value that every DBC can contribute when she accepts the mission statement and standards of conduct, commitment, and responsibility.
The Legacy Book is arranged in five sections, which discuss etiquette and conduct. By the end of summer, the pages of our Legacy Book are filled with notes, quotes, and lessons to last a lifetime. It’s easy to see how every cheerleader holds herself to the highest standards by following these values, and also how much heart and dedication she embodies for the team.
Outside of my current teammates, meeting team alumni has allowed me to realize what an extraordinary group of women I am a part of, both present and past. Since day one, I have personally had the pleasure of crossing paths with many former DBC’s from years ago; women in the community who currently are outstanding citizens, business women, mothers, and role models. Although they are no longer on the field performing during games, these women continue to carry the values of the Legacy Book with them every day.
Broncos fans, you have a wonderful group of talented and intelligent women representing your favorite team this season! And thanks to the legacy that has been carried down from year to year, this quality of excellence will never diminish.
You can bet that my Legacy Book will travel with me throughout my future, and I encourage all of Broncos Country to keep alive within them the wonderful legacy of your Denver Broncos!

Hi Sam,
It’s great to have you on the squad this year.
Yes, I couldn’t agree more about the legacy of the Bronco Cheerleaders. I know that there are other cheerleader squads around the league and that there are probably a lot of fine young women on those squads. But in my (maybe a little bit biased) opinion the Bronco Cheerleaders continue to be the best of the best.
It’s only partly about beauty and talent – a lot of it is about your commitment to community service, support of the troops and just generally being great ambassadors for the organization and great role models for young girls in the community.
Thanks so much for the commitment you make every day.
