Keeping Kids on Track

August 5th, 2011 - 11:39am by cheerleaders

Start your engines Broncos Fans!

Hello Broncos Country. My name is Tara and I am thrilled to be back for my third season as a DBC. I can’t wait to get back on the field to cheer on our beloved Broncos. The off season has been busy for the DBC. We have shot our 2012 Calendar, learned a ton of new dance material, and have gotten to know our 8 talented new rookies (Check out our Roster to learn all about the 2012 DBC).

This year marks the third annual Keeping Kids on Track event that we put on for our Calendar Release party. We team up with The Track at Centennial and race go carts to raise money to keep underprivileged kids on the right track in life. Get it “race” and “track”. We are pretty clever don’t you think?! All proceeds from the event benefit Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and the Tennyson Center. Check out the website for more details. www.keepingkidsontrack.org

The go carts at The Track are the real deal, not like the ones you race at the amusement park. They can reach speeds up to 60 miles per hour and are a ton of fun! I was the fastest DBC at the event last year. It is a title that I am proud of and I slip it into everyday conversation as often as possible. “Yes, may I have the dressing on the side, I was the fastest DBC at the Keeping Kids on Track Calendar release Party in 2010 with a track time of one minute four seconds, and may I please have my salad before my meal.” Exedra, exedra.

We have been practicing at the Track two days a week to increase our speeds from last year. It has been awesome to see my teammates practicing their race skills, gain speed, and begin to challenge each other and our instructors. It gets pretty competitive on the race track and I will have my work cut out for me this year when I try and defend my title.

I hope that y’all will buy tickets and come out to our event on August 19th. We would really appreciate your support and the DBC never shy away from some friendly competition. If you think you’re faster than a Broncos Cheerleader, come out and prove it!

Tara

  4. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Nice, I’ve been hearin he runs wind sprints after every practice. Did anybody go to Saturday’s scrimmage last year? I’m just trying to figure out how early I should get there. Gates open at 12:30…

  7. strandoftds says:

I went last year and got there about half hour after gates opened. Still great seats. Only bottom level section of stadium was used. All seated in one area. Nothing to worry about at all.

  8. strandoftds says:

    Hell ya!!

  9. BeastFromEast92 says:

TRB keep it comin’ bro,I like what I’m hearing so far, well everything except the injury to Fannin, man I was wondering if or when the injury bug would get us,but didn’t want to say anything to jinx us,hopefully he is ok.

  10. strandoftds says:

Bro, there`s a good chance I might go to the Titans game September 25. I was shopping for plane tickets today, 50/50 shot that I`m out there. I`m game planning.

Funny, Shannon just came out in the DP saying what I have been saying the last two days straight, namely the top brass need to settle this QQ:

“The situation needs to be resolved one way or the other,” Sharpe said. “You can’t have it where Kyle Orton plays a bad game and you hear the fans booing and they’re chanting Tebow. At the same time, you can’t have fans chanting Tebow! Tebow! Tebow! if Kyle Orton gives you a better chance to win.

“So hopefully — I say, ‘hopefully’ — this thing will work itself out and by the time the season starts a month from now they will have a clear cut idea who’s going to be the quarterback.”

It’s not about which one they choose anymore, it’s that they need to choose once and for all, like yesterday.

  12. BeastFromEast92 says:

    strand,I’m like Kazaam,just appear outta thin air,lol.

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

bay,I agree,I hope it’s Tebow, but if it’s Orton, well then ByGod so be it,I won’t like it but I’ll live with it.I would like to end this freaking QQ!!!!!

  14. strandoftds says:

    Neat trick bro.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

And he goes as far as calling it a fight, always fun to listen to Sharpe, can’t wait for tomorrow:

“I try not to get involved because I think John Elway and John Fox and Brian Xanders have their hands full dealing with this issue,” Sharpe said here Friday, a few yards from where his bronze bust is about to be placed. “I have no friend in the fight. I have an organization in the fight. If Kyle Orton gives them the best opportunity to win, I want Kyle Orton to be the starter. I don’t care anything about Tebow being drafted in the first round. If they feel Tim Tebow gives us the best chance to win, I want Tim Tebow to play.

  16. strandoftds says:

I have the utmost respect for what Shannon Sharpe says. Good to hear Shannon speak on this QQ matter.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

I figured I’d point it out since Shannon probably has more credence with the top brass than I do, LMAO!

  18. strandoftds says:

And you know that Elway and Shannon talk to each other ofton.

  19. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Thanks for the info Strand. The problem I don’t think this “QQ” is going to be resolved until pretty much week one. Yes the brass probably has an idea of who is going to start but I think they are honestly trying to let them compete and they want to see what happens in preseason. Unfortunately we are going to hear a lot of garbage in the mean time from all these anaylists who get a paycheck to bash athletes who have more talent then they ever had ie. Merril Hoge who’s pro career can be summed up in last than a paragraph and it contains no accolades.

  20. Broncos Born & Raised says:

I love how Shannon still refers to the organization using the words “we” and “us”. Bronco for life and now he’s gonna be in canton.

  21. strandoftds says:

I said yesterday that Hoge was a QB which is wrong, he was a RB, duh. I got the team right though, Steelers.

  22. BeastFromEast92 says:

strand,I can’t make any promises bro,but I am supposed to go with freak and rebelbronco, haven’t heard from him in a long time, but I’m gonna try like Hell to be there, even tho,I hate rooting against Charlie Daniels’ team, the Titans, which are my 2nd team, but Orange and blue blood flow thru these veins bro, especially Orange(UT),haha!

  23. strandoftds says:

Born & Raised, no problem, have fun.

  24. Broncos Born & Raised says:

And if you want to add 1 sentence to said paragraph you can capture his whole college career in there too. LOL ” He stayed in town for college and was a four-year starter as a 6’1″, 220-pound running back on the Idaho State football team.”

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

Hey strand Hodge was a RB..duh,lol.
B&R SS is a Bronco 4 life bro,he always will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

Alright guys I’m going back out, later Bronco Bros!!!!!!!!

  27. Broncos Born & Raised says:

    Hell yeah, Beast!

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Bronc on!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. strandoftds says:

Thats who I`m meeting there, I talked to freak today about possibly going. There`s only a 50/50 chance I can go, work you know, but I`m going to make a good effort. If I`m out there, Id like to hook up for a day maybe.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

BB&R, the major problem with that is there won’t be any competition, Orton will come in and perform with the ones and Tebow will follow up later on with Lance Ball, a back up O line and Anderson and whoever at wide out, how can anyone compete like that, that is the big problem, it’s basically a sham, the only way I will trust what you say is if they start Orton like the first game and Tebow the second, or vice versa, anything short of that and I will know that they have known all along who they wanted to start.

  31. 3rdGeneration says:

Nice articles today. I really liked the first one, and sums up my opinion on the subject. To Shannons point. I was actually already planning to attempt to start a Tebow chant at the first game on Monday night if be wasn’t in.

  32. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Very true, Bay. We can only wait and see. I know I started to lose a little faith in EFX during FA, but I think it was restored when all was said and done. I can only hope that they have as thorough an evaluation process as they say they are. Who knows. If Tebow plays with the second team offense against Dallas and lights it up (against second team defenders) he should have a shot at playing with the No. 1′s in preseason week 2. I think something like that would be fair.

  33. Broncos Born & Raised says:

After rereading your last sentence I realize we are pretty much on the same page, Bay haha.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, but the problem is compounded with the fact that we are a 4-12 team, hence we don’t have depth, the Cowboys while maybe not a powerhouse have more depth than we do, so Tebow playing with our twos against their twos is a bigger mismatch than Orton playing his ones against their ones, it just goig to be unfair either way they do it I’m afraid, it’s like they are saying Orton is the champ and Tebow the contender so he has to defeat him to take over and in these conditions, good luck.

  35. baylinorcrush says:

Just glad Shannon has stated the obvious publicly because it sure doesn’t make a bit of difference what we say, specially with the Orton bloggers, haha.

  36. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Good point. One thing we can both agree on is the sooner this is settled the better. I’m going to give EFX the benefit of the doubt for now if they say they are still evaluating. And the trade market for Orton has the potential to open up mid way through preseason so that could factor in the decision making as well.
