Hi Broncos Fans,
I’m Lauren, a second year DBC. You are probably just as sad as I am after watching the Broncos-Chargers game.
Up 7-0, the Broncos were looking great at the start of Monday Night’s game against the Chargers. Scoring on the first drive, Kyle Orton completed two of two passes with the help of Knowshon Moreno. After a quick score, the defense came up with what looked to be another three and out. However, due to the fact that the Chargers have been struggling this season with punting issues, desperate times call for desperate measures.
The Chargers gambled and it ended up paying off for them with a 28-yard pass down the field which led to a score — ultimately proving to be the change of momentum in the game. With a lack of pass rush and quarterback pressure, Philip Rivers was able to stay in the pocket and distribute the ball as he pleased. The Broncos defense gave up a lot of rushing yards that opened up the play-action pass, and the Chargers took control of the game.
The Chargers turned their season around, but the Broncos are last in the AFC West and they must do something in their desperation.
Many of the other cheerleaders have blogged about community events and the massive support of our Broncos fan base. This is when the Broncos need our fans the most!! Monday Night’s game being away, the Broncos lacked the Orange-and-Blue atmosphere only INVESCO Field at Mile High can provide. This Sunday’s game against the Rams is going to be crucial and needs as much fan support as possible. Even during desperate times, I am challenging our fans to fill the stadium and bring your orange rally towels! We need to prove that during this holiday season, we are still thankful for our favorite team.
On Sunday, the Broncos defense needs to take advantage of the Rams’ rookie quarterback. If they can finish the game the same way they started against the Chargers, the Broncos will end with a result similar to the one against the Chiefs.
I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving holiday and to remember that this week isn’t just about shopping! Please think about all the things that you are thankful for, and don’t forget about our troops who can’t be at home with their families.
See you all on Sunday!
