Hi Broncos Country,
It’s Tara again. With today being Halloween, I have decided to write about the best part of the holiday – the candy!!!
I have always had a sweet tooth. I never understood how a dessert could be “too sweet” and I don’t really trust people who don’t “care for sweets” (or cheese for that matter). With that being said, I am currently consuming so many candy corn pumpkins that my body hurts and I am forced to check on a regular basis that my teeth have not fallen out. But I cannot stop.
This is the only time of year that they are around and I am taking full advantage of it! So Broncos Country, I know it’s probably been a while since we’ve gone trick or treating, but I can still feel the rush of getting pillowcases full of candy on Halloween — or maybe that was just the sugar rush after inhaling it all.
Either way, I thought that it would be fun to ask some of my fellow DBC and our coaching staff what their favorite Halloween candy is.
Let’s begin with the most popular treat Reese’s peanut butter cups. Amanda, Kristen, and Nikki like these Halloween favorites. Nikki claims the pumpkin shaped cups are the best. Allyson likes the Reese’s Pieces and who can blame her?
A couple girls brought me back to my youth when they picked some old school favorites. Serita chose Smarties and Megan picked Tootsie Rolls. Kelly Tilley (Director of Junior Denver Broncos Cheerleaders) was the only person to choose one of the classic Halloween staples, DOTS. Erica loves the mini Snickers and Lelanna loves anything milk chocolate. Brianne likes Raisinets (gross Bri, I said candy!) and Nicole went with Candy Corn. Both Jenna and Margaret picked M&M’s to be their favorite and Lindy likes caramel Hershey’s Kisses. Lauren picked Starbursts, but only the pink color and Katie loves Skittles, but only the red ones.
There were some wild cards in the bunch. Teresa Shear (Director of Cheerleaders and Game Day Entertainment) chose Sour Patch Kids and so did Christina. I am not sure why anyone would want to eat candy until their tongue is raw, but who am I to judge?
Janelle knocked it out of the park when she chose Rolo’s because you only think of these delicious caramel treats at Halloween time. KL likes Baci. They are hazelnut flavored Italian candies with an inspirational quote in each one. I am unsure what neighborhood she was trick or treating in, but it definitely wasn’t mine.
I hope that everyone in Broncos Country has a safe and happy Halloween. Safe travels to all the fans going to watch the Broncos in London.
I want to wish a very happy birthday to both Christina and Lindy who are both celebrating their birthdays today. Go Broncos!
