Hi Broncos Country!
I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season so far. Despite the recent cold weather, this is most definitely my favorite time of the year!
My name is Kara and this is my second year as a DBC. This season has been so exciting and full of amazing memories so far. This past Monday night added to these memories as I was able to share being a part of an incredible cause with a few of my teammates. Wesley Woodyard hosted the Third Annual 16Ways Foundation’s Toy Drive. The event aimed to collect as many toys as possible that will be given to children that otherwise would not receive gifts on Christmas.
My teammate Lauren and I started off the evening by gathering the gifts that people were bringing in and placing them around the tree. It was amazing to see the overwhelming amount of support and generosity that people had in providing the toys. After about 15 minutes of organizing the gifts, one of the volunteers told me that the amount of toys was already double what was donated last year. Although I was not at the drive last year, this did not surprise me, as every time Lauren and I turned around, more and more people were coming in and handing us toys.
This is one of the very reasons why I love this time of the year so much. To experience and see the generosity that our community has is such a privilege and unbelievably humbling. It is a reminder of how gracious the Broncos fan base is, and I sincerely believe that Denver has the best fans in the NFL. Not only are you all so loyal to the team, but you continue to show your generosity and commitment to making Denver such a great place. I wish you all a safe and joyful holiday season! Go Broncos!

OT That is true for a lot of states. I’m just glad Wyoming is not one if those states. However, this was a mother/son thing so it must be boiled down to mental health and parenting.
#TheTwelveDaysofChristmas “On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me three Bronco pillow pets, two Elway rookie cards, and an elite Peyton Manning jersey…”
Makes sense cat, a NYC teacher gave me that insight, who claimed the public school system is a mess.. I didn’t realize it was different from state to state, and I’m glad that doesn’t pertain to you. I agree 100% about being a parent issue, amoung many other factors. Tough stuff, and impossible to find answers to such a terrible thing..
OT did you get my osweiler post a few days back.
I wonder how many yards Knowshon will get running the ball?
I read in the Denver Post that the Baltimore Ravens defense is the stingiest team inside their own 20 yard line despite their defensive struggles.
Is there coming a day where kids school buildings will no longer exist and home schooling will come into effect across the nation all because of these shootings that are a happening on a regular basis? Can this actual happen to keep our children safe from all of the Psycos that are out there. It makes me wonder!
RH – I did, sorry to post and run the other day. I would have done the same thing if I was there, watching Osweiler over Manning, as we have seen so little from him. Good analysis, and it makes me feel better that his throwing motion appeared to be a non-issue. It sounds like what he needs to improve on will come with time, and seems to be correctable. I really want to see him play some meaniful reps in either the Browns or Chiefs game!
Morgan Freeman’s statement about these random shootings….
“You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here’s why.
It’s because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you kn
ow the name of a single victim of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he’ll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.
CNN’s article says that if the body count “holds up”, this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I’ve seen yet. Because they don’t sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you’ve just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.
You can help by forgetting you ever read this man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem.”
Strand, think about the places where guns and weapons aren’t allowed… This is why our school are vunerable.
Nobody can fight back and like Freeman said, they want to be remembered forever no matter how bad their act of terror was.
Cat, I’m just thinking aloud. Its getting worse.
Great post cat. I was going to post this earlier, but decided not to..
Last comment on this for me, but the mental illness issue is a major problem in our society, which is often overlooked. It’s an extremely difficult thing to deal with, and we often just turn the other way, which is the easier thing to do. Mental illness is one of the worst illnesses IMO, as its effects often spread beyond the individual who is ill. The symptoms are often undetectable, and people who have not seen it first hand will never fully understand. You can’t walk one block in NYC without seeing a homeless person, and 99% of them are mentally ill..
I heard this morning that the shooter had autism. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but honestly, we must make sure that these kids have all the opportunities to be successful and loved as much as other kids, but sometimes it’s hard when they have a disability. Instead of blaming inanimate objects that we have the right to have, let’s find a way to make these kids feel loved so that they don’t want to do things to hurt others.
Godlessness in the Last Days: 2 Timothy 3;1-5
(1) There will be terrible times in the last days. (2) People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (3) without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, (4) treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God_(5) having a form of godliness but denying its power the power there of. Have nothing to do with them.
We’ll know by tonight if Ray Lewis will be activated for tomorrows game. The Ravens have until 4:00 pm EST time today to do so. Hmmmm.
ESPN News has said that Ray Lewis IS NOT going to be activated for tomorrows game against the Denver Broncos.
I saw a picture on Facebook of a young female school teacher with a military style weapon strapped over her shoulder, with 5 year olds in front of her.
The caption read – these school children are safe…Israel doesn’t have mass shooting in schools.
Hey Strand that was the first scripture that I thought of when the news of the senseless tragedy broke. That along with the signs of the end of this system of things at Matthew chapter 24 throw in the Mayan calender thing you just never know. Next thing will be the Minnesota vikings winning the super bowl
Cat: When the horrific shooting at the Colorado theater happened the Governor refused to mention the assaiants name and encouraged all to do likewise. Would that CNN, HLN, ABC, etc. etc would do the same for all such inccidents.
This is kind of funny!
http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000111414/peyton-manning-greets-travelers-at-denver-airport/
Since1972, I study endtimes. I know just what your saying. Some day, God will set up His kingdom that will last forever. Until then times get worse just as scripture says it will. Believe me I’m not surprised by whats happening. The Bible says its going to get worse before Jesus comes.
Manning knows travelers!
Is it Sunday yet?
The Mayan calender will be just another Y2K thing a fade into something that amounts to NOTHING! That calender has nothing to do with the Lord.
I predict that the Broncos win!
If Kuper does play Sunday, thats a huge boost as far as I’m concerned.
I want to see Holiday run back a PR for a TD!
So how many sacks will V. Miller get tomorrow?
Hey Strand – Do you keep your studies dispensational? Do you vary into the convenental perspective? Are you familiar with the distinctions? A football blog isn’t a good place for that discussion but it is one of my hobbies as well and I have begun to slowly move from one camp to the other.
I’d get a kick out of seeing Bubba Caldwell going deep and scoring a TD in stride by a Peyton Manning long bomb!
I like Holiday and I hope he is allowed to mature in the Bronco system. His skills are electrifying. On the other hand he has the potential to lose a close game with his drops.
I haven’t watched the Ravens play much. I can’t recall if they have any pass threat that would have Miller dropping back. If it is Ray Rice all day long – I think Von could have a great day catching up on some sacks.
I’m dispensational for the most part: Rapture, 70 weeks of Daniel, 3 1/2 years of great tribulation, Israel being restored, Armageddon, 1000 year reign of Christ. I study what the bible teaches. Enough said!
Daddy: the scoop with the Ravens is if the don’t utilize Ray Rice they are one dimensional. They can’t win without running Rice.
The main goal is to stop Rice. You stop him, the rest of the team folds, its that simple.
I don’t think That Suggs will have much of an impact if any. Suggs is going to be rusty, thats if he even plays.
DB – Von should have a wonderful day cause the Ravens RT is injured and the backup will get his @$$ kicked

The Colorado Spring Gazette newspaper today has said the last time the Denver Broncos won a game in Baltimore was when John Elway started the second game of his career. And it was John Elway’s first come from behind 4th quarter victory to seal the deal. And that was when the team was still the Baltimore Colts. So its been along time since we came away with a win there. Its time to make some history! GO BRONCOS!!
Here’s to new history!!!
RH – were I to be game planning for Miller….I’d be sending a TE to Miller’s side all day….maybe two…I’d be dropping short screen passes over Miller’s head till everytime Von crossed the LOS he’d be looking behind him. (Daddy oversimplification for clarity)

Bay referred to this yesterday, but it just goes to show, blaming guns won’t fix it.
RH Osemele is starting at RT who has been the starter. Yanda the RG might miss the game.
FENDER SKIRTS AND SUPPER (Wish I could have posted the pics that cam along with this – but I enjoyed it!)
I know some of you will not understand this message,
But I bet you know someone who might.
I came across this phrase yesterday. ‘FENDER SKIRTS.’
A term I haven’t heard in a long time, and thinking about
‘fender skirts’ started me thinking
About other words that quietly disappear from
Our language with hardly a notice like ‘curb feelers.’
And ‘steering knobs.’ (AKA)
‘suicide knob,’ ‘neckers knobs.’
Since I’d been thinking of cars,
My mind naturally went that direction first.
Any kids will probably have to find some older person
Over 50 to explain some of these terms to you.
Remember ‘Continental kits?’
They were rear bumper extenders and spare tire covers
That were supposed to make any car
As cool as a Lincoln Continental.
When did we quit calling them ‘emergency brakes?
At some point ‘parking brake’ became the proper term.
But I miss the hint of drama that went with ‘emergency brake.’
I’m sad, too, that almost all the old folks are gone
Who would call the accelerator the ‘foot feed.’
Many today do not even know what a clutch is
Or that the dimmer switch used to be on the floor.
For that matter, the starter was down there too.
Didn’t you ever wait at the street for your daddy
To come home, so you could ride the
‘running board’ up to the house?
Here’s a phrase I heard all the time in my youth
But never anymore – ‘store-bought.’
Of course, just about everythi ng is store-bought these days.
But once it was bragging material to have a
Store-bought dress or a store-bought bag of candy.
‘Coast to coast’ is a phrase that once held all sorts
Of excitement and now means almost nothing.
Now we take the term ‘worldwide’ for granted.
This floors me.
On a smaller scale, ‘wall-to-wall’ was once
A magical term in our homes. In the ’50s,
Everyone covered his or her hardwood floors with,
Wow, wall-to-wall carpeting!
Today, everyone replaces their wall-to-wall carpeting
With hardwood floors. Go figure.
When was the last time you heard the quaint phrase
‘in a family way?’ It’s hard to imagine that the word ‘pregnant’
Was once considered a little too graphic,
A little too clinical for use in polite company,
So we had all that talk about stork visits and
‘being in a family way’ or simply ‘expecting.’
Apparently ‘brassiere’ is a word no longer in usage.
I said it the other day and my daughter cracked up.
I guess it’s just ‘bra’ now.
‘Unmentionables’ probably wouldn’t be understood at all.
I always loved going to the ‘picture show,’
But I considered ‘movie’ an affectation.
Most of these words go back to the ’50s,
But here’s a pure ’60s word I came across
The other day ‘rat fink.’ Ooh, what a nasty put-down!
Here’s a word I miss – ‘percolator.’
That was just a fun word to say.
And what was it replaced with ‘Coffee maker.’
How dull… Mr. Coffee, I blame you for this.
I miss those made-up marketing words that were
Meant to sound so modern and now sound so retro.
Words like ‘Dyna Flow’ and ‘Electrolux’ and ‘Frigidaire’.
Introducing the 1963 Admiral T V, now with ‘SpectraVision!’
Food for thought.
Was there a telethon that wiped out lumbago?
Nobody complains of that anymore.
Maybe that’s what Castor oil cured,
Because I never hear mothers threatening kids
With Castor Oil anymore.
Some words aren’t gone, but are definitely
On the endangered list.
The one that grieves me most is ‘supper.’
Now everybody says ‘dinner.’ Save a great word.
Invite someone to supper. Discuss fender skirts.
Someone forwarded this to me.
I thought some of us of a ‘certain age’
Would remember most of these.
Just for fun, pass it along to others
Of ‘a certain age.’
IF YOU AREN’T OF A CERTAIN AGE,
YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS.
”I’m possessed and perverted, obsessed, and deranged. I have existed for years, and somethings have changed. I’m the tool of the government and industry too, for I am destined to rule, and regulate you. I maybe be vial and viscous, but you cant look away. I’ll make you think I’m delicious, by the stuff that I say. I’m the best you can get, have you guessed me yet?…I’m the Slime oozing out, of your TV set!!!! “……. Frank Zappa
I need a football fix real bad!!! None of the college games are even remotely interesting…
