Cheerleaders: Reaching Out

December 1st, 2011 - 10:59am by cheerleaders

Hello Broncos Fans! I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving. The holiday weekend was surely wrapped up with another thrilling Broncos victory!

It’s been a few months since my rookie report and I can’t begin to tell you all how fun and exciting this season has been so far. Not only has it been filled with incredible games, but I have also been fortunate to be a part of many events throughout the community. This past weekend in particular, I was able to help out at a local restaurant in the Highlands area with some of my fellow teammates.

On Thanksgiving Day, Rosa Linda’s Mexican Cafe hosted its annual Thanksgiving feast, providing meals to those in need within the community. Along with volunteers personally delivering homemade dinners and desserts, the restaurant also opened its doors for people to come in and enjoy a meal at no charge. This was the restaurant’s 27th year hosting the event and it broke a record of serving over 5,000 meals.

Megan and I took part in helping unload a truck filled with hundreds of desserts donated by Johnson & Wales University. We then packaged them with each meal that would then be delivered by other volunteers who participated in the event, one being our teammate Katie W. We had such a great time and luckily refrained from trying all of the beautiful and delicious looking cakes and pies!

Not only was it amazing to be a part of an event that reaches out to so many people, but it was especially moving to see the community outreach across the Mile High City. There was an overwhelming amount of volunteers that came out to support the restaurant and its efforts to feed as many families as possible. It was a wonderful reminder of how just a small amount of time can truly impact the lives of others, and it was definitely a great way to kick off the holiday season and festivities!

Well from all of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, we wish you a joyful and safe holiday season. We’d also like to send our thoughts and prayers to all of the troops here at home and overseas. We cannot thank you enough for your dedication to serving and protecting our country!

Happy Holidays and as always, Go Broncos!!!
