Cheerleaders Help the Hungry on Thanksgiving

November 26th, 2012 - 10:14am by cheerleaders

Hey Broncos Fans!

I’m Katie W. and this is my second year on the team. This time of year is my favorite for three reasons — family, friends and football!

This Thanksgiving I spent the day with some family members, friends and fellow Cheerleader Toni D., assembling over 3,000 meals to pass out to the less fortunate. I could not have asked for a more perfect way to spend the Holiday!

Rosa Linda’s is the local restaurant that graciously opened their doors to host the event. I have never seen more selfless, caring individuals come together and work hard to assure everyone in need had a meal. I was also blown away by the gratitude of those individuals receiving meals that I was able to interact with. This was a very special day for Toni and I.

There are so many things I am thankful for but especially for everyone I met on Thursday who made a special impact on my life. I am also extremely thankful to be a part of the Broncos organization and to make a difference in the community through their graciousness.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy Holiday season.

Go Broncos!

Katie W.

    B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!

Way to go girls!!! Did anyone see that the Colts Cheerleaders shaved their heads in support of their coach battling cancer! You ladies are amazing and make the game we love better (which is hard to do!!!)

    from TonyMartellini
‘……Pats have averaged 47.5 points per game the last four weeks. Tom Brady’s on pace for 35 touchdowns and four interceptions. Occasionally they show signs of being defensively competent. And Thursday, they won by 30 without their two best offensive linemen, best tight end and best defensive end. How they have three losses, I have no idea.
They lost by 1 point, 2 points and 1 point,,,,so for the sake of 4 points over three games you would be talking about an undefeated team. In each case the winning team scored on the final drive. Don’t care what anybody says,,the PATS just win BABY….it is fair to anticipate the return of most of their starters by the playoffs,,then watch out….’

Those are pretty eye opening numbers

    We signed Jacob Hester.

    Lindsay Jones ‏@bylindsayhjones

Broncos signed RB Jacob Hester today. He’s 20 pounds bigger than any of the other Broncos’ backs.

This will become our 3rd down and 1 bruiser back, goal line back. He is also a standout in special teams.

I like this move. Maybe Ball will now be inactive.

Great to see our girls giving back.

Definitely have to step up our game this next week. I’m not too worried considering the way KC has played this year. They had close to the same score against the Ravens and have been in several close games with some good teams. TB about beat Atlanta yesterday and I would say they are probably one of the top 7 teams in the NFC. I believe they’re much better than what their record shows. Peyton will have to be on and so will our defense.

It will be tough to stop their RB’s with Martin and they also have good receivers in Jackson.

    Will be a great game.

  5. OTbroncos says:

I like the Hester signing. He’s a blue collar type RB, who’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves, and do the dirty work. A perfect Ying to Moreno and Hillman’s Yang IMO.

  6. baylinorcrush says:

Needed move since we didn’t have a back worthy of getting the third and one since McGahee went down. But that’s about it. When you get someone who was out of work in the NFL, there had to be a reason, and the reason is no team felt he could help them. Good luck to you Hester, hope we’ll get to call you the molester, haha.

Like the fact they got away with having to cut JJ from the practice squad since they re-signed him today.

This cracked me up – so I had to share…I hope it doesn’t offend~ !!! LOL

~~I was in my back yard trying to launch a kite. I threw the
kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few seconds,
then it would come crashing back down to earth. I tried this
a few more times with no success.

All the while, my wife is watching from the kitchen window,
muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do
    everything.

She opens the window and yelled to me, ‘You need a piece
    of tail.’

I turned with a confused look on my face and yelled back,
‘Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly
    a kite.’~~~

    :) That’s funny

  9. tlcat06 says:

    smh!

Can I just say how much I love the optimism on this blog? ;D GO BRONCOS!!!

  10. RH709 says:

So interesting thing… A lot has been said about how beat up the Broncos got against the run yesterday. Lots of people concerned. blah blah blah.

Turns out the Broncos played a very high majority of their defensive snaps in a nickle defense. That means that when KC was in a run heavy formation with such as 22 personnel (2 backs and two tight ends, one WR), Denver was playing with 3 linemen, 3 LBs and 5 DBs.

Heavy personnel like TEs and FBs will usually man-handle DBs, as seen yesterday. So why play in a pass defensive mode when KC is a run-first team? Tough to say. Part of me wonders if it was a defensive test to if these guys could find a way to stand up to the run. That way, when we play NE in the playoffs again, these guys are prepared for the no-substitution no-huddle that NE ran on us.

    hmmmm hard to say.

  11. Bronco_Turtle says:

Nice thought RH! Very well could be a possibility… If that’s the case looks like we need a little more work at it

  12. OTbroncos says:

Good point RH, I didn’t notice that. One thing this defense has NOT done, is give up the big play, which has for too long been a staple on defense ’round here…

Off subject a little, but this says Timmy Tebow has a Smokin Hot girlfriend…

  14. OTbroncos says:

Well, he’s not in Kansas anymore. It might be hard to walk that moral tight rope in NY..

  15. DaddyBronc says:

One date – bowling with friends and they blew it up into a full blown relationship. She’s eye candy and fun…it’ll never be much more than that.

  16. DaddyBronc says:

Anyone have any emotional investment in tonight’s game?

  17. Bronco_Turtle says:

I’m just glad he’s not a robot!!! and is at least interested in the ladies!!!

This article/video is crazy! Who catches a falling person… this guy i guess! Nice work

  18. Bronco_Turtle says:

no emotional attachment DB.. I’d like to see a 0-0 tie and maybe we will start getting flexed into Primetime

  19. OTbroncos says:

I don’t like the Eagles or Cam Newton, but I do feel bad for Andy Reid.

  20. DaddyBronc says:

I will watch the game – I guess I’ll have to find something to root for.

  21. OTbroncos says:

I like Mike Tolbert, and I wanted us to sign him. I hope he gets into the end zone tonight, he can give Von a run for his money:

  22. sndvl says:

Funny anecdote daddy. Well I have Brent Celek playing on my 2 fantasy teams. Down by 2 and 17. So that’s my only attachment!!!

I can say I have a much more emotional attachment to Katie W’s cause…

  23. DaddyBronc says:

Timmy Tebow is looking for someone like his mother –

She raised kids alone while Mr. Tebow traveled the planet.
    Including home educating.
She’s an in demand public speaker – especially for women’s events.
She keeps up with Mr. Tebow doing the lions share of the behind the scene work.
    She’s attractive and physically fit!
She’s faithful. She isn’t sharing visually or physically.

It’s a hard act to follow. Give Tebow time.

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

I’m just glad he’s not playing for the other team….. and I don’t mean the Jets….lol

  25. Orange_Crusher says:

I sure do love me some cheerleaders!!!!

I wish I was on the Bronco cheer squad…..They could put me on the bottom of the pyramid all day long!!!! WOOT!!! WOOT!!!

  28. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Didnt even realize hester wasn’t with the chargers anymore … he used to do good work for them if i remember correctly. Not so much running but definitely as a receiving back. He is a bigger guy so glad to have him.

Bucs may have the top run D but they also have the worst pass D. Funny how that works

    Later days, TRB

  29. RH709 says:

    Thanks guys.

Makes sense to give it a shot against a team we should beat no matter what. Offense is still a little shaky. Im not as worried as other about the run offense cause a PM led team can win games with 70-90 ypg rushing. Remember we run against a favorable box count or against nickle packages if the down and distance says its ok. Otherwise, Manning puts it in the air. Converting third and short has been the biggest concern, air or ground. Drops are still a concern.

  30. FTR says:

You would never be put at the base of the pyramid cuz you would be looking up not down. Ohooo Ya.

  31. DaddyBronc says:

    Interesting game going on….

I still can’t figure out who I’d care to see win?

  32. DaddyBronc says:

OT – it seems pretty clear that Reid is done.

  33. tlcat06 says:

Guys did you see that we are ranked 5th in pass defense? 5TH! I might just fall over after reading that…

  34. CARAMELLOO says:

I for one am glad we signed Hester. I’m always a little biased when it comes to LSU guys. So welcome to the Broncos Mr. Hester and glad you and Mr. Holiday are on our team. Now time for you to make plays like you did at LSU.

  35. CARAMELLOO says:

How in the wide world of sports is Brodrick Bunkley not getting suspended for kicking a defenseless guy in the head yesterday? Glad he decided to leave Denver bc he hasn’t done much for the Saints this season.

  36. tlcat06 says:

It’s is what it was like in KC after the football game yesterday: http://www.kctv5.com/video?clipId=7999301&autostart=true

I don’t know how Bunkley didn’t get suspended. How did Suh not get suspended? And they suspended Mays? Makes 0 SENSE!!!

  37. tlcat06 says:

    *this

  38. raidrhadr says:

cat…nice video. Have to agree with the analyst in studio though. Imagine what the mentality in the eagles locker room is like. That is one uninspired football team.

Ok so, I did this a couple of weeks ago but here is an update. Some stats:

    Broncos offense is:

    #4 overall
    #6 passing
#20 rushing (a little better than 2 wks ago 22)
Tied for 3rd in sacks allowed with 16 (We were 1st here)

    The defense is:

    #4 overall
    #5 against the pass
    #9 against the run
    #8 scoring
and best of all IMO #1 in sacks with 37!!!

Stats don’t really mean crap although Turtle posted some alarming notes on the Patriots. They somehow get it done and I’m sick of it. Thier defense is ranked #27!!! Thier offense is of course #1. Just sayin’

  39. DaddyBronc says:

I totally agree Cat – Suh / Bunkley…both belong in the garbage heap of former NFL players …wannabees …dirty …unsportsmanlike …

and like yourself I have no clue what the NFL (Goodell) is thinking??? It all makes no sense.

  40. CARAMELLOO says:

I asked that question about Bunkley on Facebook and a Saints fan had the nerve say…. After all we’ve been through Bunk shouldn’t be suspended. Huh, what, for real?!?! Wrong is wrong and he kicked a defenseless player in the head.

  41. DaddyBronc says:

I think the Pats will be in the AFC championship game and they are the AFC team to beat. Personally – I hope Houston puts the Pats out of our collective miseries before we get to them.

On a good day – Broncos can beat Houston…

We have a lot of football left!!! Broncos didn’t look like a SB team yesterday…

With Manning not having his best day as a passer…I was impressed with his game management, especially in the final minutes…masterful!

  42. alex4serg says:

its like i said in the offseason top 10 O and D.

wasnt expecting top 5 in both though.

and since our st has also been excellent a deep playoff run seems likely

SB or bust imo. biggest hurdle is the pats.

  43. Schmidtbowl says:

The Pats are the best team in the AFC, and maybe the NFL. I cannot stand them, as usual, but those are the facts. We will have to go through them to get to the Super Bowl…and we’ll probably have to play them in NE. So, let’s get there and see if we have what it takes. The Texans and Ravens are beatable and I don’t see either of them taking the Patriots out of the playoffs…P. Manning can, though. It will take an elite QB to beat the Pats as keeping up is the type of game it will take. Joe Fluke-O and Schaub aren’t even close to Elite. The Steelers with Big Ben are better than either the Ravens or Texans…and Ben should be playing if they get to the playoffs.

As for this weekend, it will not be another difficult game. TB is emerging, but in over their head on this one. This one is all on the Broncos. IF they make stupid mistakes it will be close. If they hold on to the ball and continue a good pass rush, it won’t be close enough to be worried. Go Broncos!

  44. tlcat06 says:

I 100% disagree about the Pats being the best team in the AFC. They have beat the Colts and us. Only two teams with a winning record they’ve beaten. After the play the 49ers we can talk about them maybe being the best.

Good teams beat teams even when they don’t play their best.

  45. tlcat06 says:

Oh and the Texans. Oh and the Colts have one of the leagues worst defenses. We are now #5 against the pass which is super impressive to me. Looking to see how we play against Freeman on Sunday.

  46. Schmidtbowl says:

Very curious, who do you guys think is the best team in the AFC? The Texans are rated 1 in the NFL Power Rankings, but I dont’ think they’re the biggest threat. The Broncos are certainly a team to beat, but have already lost to the Texans and Patriots, so at this point they’re not in the Top 2. I argue the Patriots are number one because in the end Tom Brady is still the best QB in the league…and could you bet against him?

  47. tlcat06 says:

Oh I don’t think that Tom Brady is the best QB in the league.
