Hi Broncos Country!! My name is Ashley and this is my first season as a DBC. Over the past few months, I have been blessed with many opportunities to give back to our community. Every Tuesday this season, I have had the privilege of working with our Denver Broncos All Stars. This is a competitive dance team for kids between the ages of 6 to 17 who are looking to compete both locally and nationally.
The girls in this program are coached and trained two to three times a week by myself along with a handful of other current and former DBC. They get to perform at four Broncos games throughout the season and in March we will travel to Austin, TX for the All Stars National Competition! I can’t wait to see how well they do!
As their technique coach, I mainly help the girls work on their competition skills — pirouettes, jumps, leaps, kicks and turns. Each week I try to teach them as much as I can about dance, but also about becoming a good teammate, friend and overall contributor to the community. I am so fortunate to be able to work with these young dancers and to see the smiles on their faces when they perfect a trick, or hear the laughter in the room when something funny happens. They are hardworking and passionate kids whom I have come to love spending time with.
As we are heading into the heart of our competition season, I am so proud to see how far each girl has come since the beginning of the summer — not only as dancers, but as people. I’d like to take this time to give all of the girls on the team a shout out:
I love you all so much! Working with you each week brings a smile to my face and I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my Tuesday afternoons! Keep working hard and reaching towards your goals!
