Cheerleaders: A Season of Firsts

September 22nd, 2011 - 9:04am by cheerleaders

Hey Denver Fans! How ‘bout that Broncos win on Sunday? I don’t know about all of you, but my Monday always seems a little better after a great win! Congratulations to John Fox on his FIRST Broncos win! Let’s keep ‘em coming!

My name is Heather and this is my 2nd season as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader. As a rookie cheerleader last year, I experienced many firsts including: performing for the first time on an NFL field, shooting a cheerleader calendar, performing for 76,000 fans, hosting a Broncos post-game show, radio interviews, traveling to Iraq to perform for our service men and woman, and the list goes on and on!

Coming back as a “veteran” this season, I was not expecting to have many more firsts. Boy was I wrong! The 2011-2012 season is just beginning and so far I have been apart of several history making firsts!

• Being the FIRST to perform in the newly named Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Like many die hard Broncos fans, I too had a hard time adjusting to the sound of the new stadium name as well as the new logo. However, two games into the season and it seems to me as though it has always been Sports Authority Field at Mile High and who can even notice the red logo when the stadium is packed with 76,000 fans oozing blue and orange!

• For me, it was also my FIRST Monday Night Football game! Not only was it MNF, Broncos vs. the Raiders, but it was opening night! What a perfect opening night scenario. Along with the game, it was also the 10th year anniversary tribute for 9/11 and one of the most moving tributes I have ever been apart of. I can easily say that this game has been my most memorable game of all time!

• Shannon Sharpe’s Hall of Fame presentation. What a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of. As a true Broncos fan and a Denver native, I have grown up watching Shannon Sharpe. He is a legend in Broncos Country and it was so truly inspirational to see him presented with his ring. He certainly deserves this induction and it will be a moment that I will never forget.

I guess what I have learned is that every game is going to bring its own new experience. I feel so grateful to be involved with the Broncos organization, team, and cheerleaders that have given me so many incredible opportunities. We truly have the greatest job in the world!

I look forward to many more firsts with the Broncos, perhaps my first Super Bowl appearance??

For now, I look forward to game 3 and many more W’s to come! LET’S GO BRONCOS!!

Have a great week everyone!!
Heather

    Thanks Heather,

It is always great to see what true passion is all about. I know for a fact, it is not the money that drives many dedicated women to be cheerleaders. The tireless effort that it takes and all of the “off field” commitments are inspiring. I am glad that you have gotten to experience so many great things going into your second season, hold onto them and embrace it.

  7. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Sorry,bay beat me,didn’t read your post before I posted,haha!

Hot Heather, haha….sorry to hear it’s still hot down there bro, must be a record this year as far as the heat goes,70s and great here, supposed to be down in the 40s for lows this weekend, opening day of deer season, man that’s a lucky break, since I hate hunting in warm weather, the meat spoils if you don’t hurry and process it,cooler weather you don’t have to hurry!

Hope the heat lets up on yall down there,it must be miserable,I feel for you bro!

  10. stevecan2 says:

    skirt anyone?

oh heck no. I cannot even imagine what I would look like in a skirt, and for sure, do not want to see anyone else in one. Except for one, and there is no acting like she is just a cheerleader.

  11. BeastFromEast92 says:

    LMAO!!!

  12. baylinorcrush says:

End of September, 97 to 99 forecast for all week!!!!

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

I got a gut feeling there won’t be many bloggers thinking like that after a few more games, lol.

  14. armadillo_orton says:

Hey Maybe Heather can play QB…

  15. BeastFromEast92 says:

Damn that’s rough man,you can’t even get out and do anything in heat like that, have you even got a chance to get out on your boat this summer?

    Interesting QB contract figures.

Well, if the DP isn’t picking up on all the QQ contract conversations, maybe a leak to the AP?

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Ended up lounging in the lake yesterday, water is still like 82, so not all bad, beautiful it was indeed, Tecate with lime on the water kind of day it was….

  18. baylinorcrush says:

Summer I go out nearly every week, Winter at least every three weeks, I’m a boat person, man!

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Heck high nineties is a piece of cake for us, just got out of two months mainly in the mid and high 100s.

  20. seweatherman1 says:

Are you kidding me bfe. With that kind of heat and everything burning down around you, on the boat on the lake sitting back with a cool one and a hook in the water is the ONLY place to be.

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

Well I was a woodsman,4 wheeler man,but I sold it the other day, can’t ride it anymore due to the fact that I have 2 discs messed up in my back, got tired of all the pain that the riding was doing, but I already miss it,but hey what can you do,thought about getting a boat myself,at least it wouldn’t hurt my back!

I do love the water and drinking a cold beer on the water!!!

  22. seweatherman1 says:

90 plus degrees and having to look at our Bronco Cheerleader pic. You poor soul.

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

se….true dat..true dat…lol, been watching too much Wayan Bros on tv!

  24. alexanserg says:

Actually, there was a lascivious joke in there that I didn’t want to spell out.

Additionally it was a play on the title of the article. So ha! hehe

  25. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, and the Orange Crush has a top so I’m not really exposed, it’s way cooler than the main land that’s for sure, always a breeze of sort, the killer is like Wal Mart parking lots, LOL.

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

I guess I’d stay in the pool or on the lake with plenty of beer,in that kind of heat, wheeeeewh, man that’s hot!

  27. baylinorcrush says:

    Well, thanks for abstaining.

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

    LMAO@alex…I get it now!!!

  29. seweatherman1 says:

Here is a beer for you bfe. Just the right size too. 32 oz.

    http://www.stonebrew.com/arrogantbastard/

  30. BeastFromEast92 says:

Well gotta go to the parts store to get some car parts, later Bronco Bros!

  31. BeastFromEast92 says:

    se…at 7.2 % alcohol I’d try it,if I could find it,not much to choose from where I am unless I drive 50-60 miles!

  32. stevecan2 says:

Thinking of the kool-aid drinking fans, possibly wearing skirts. OMG.

I had read an article about the city of San Diego. And how the Padres and Chargers have failed to bring home titles making them the most championship starved city in the U.S.

The reason why, no one really pays attention to their lack of championships writes the author of the article:

“In rabid sports towns like Boston, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia, mediocrity is not tolerated very well by fans. But in San Diego — a town with a large population of non-natives, many of them employed by the U.S. Navy — there’s not the same obsession with winning.”

This now makes me wander. We all know the passion for the Denver Broncos in Denver, the Denver Nuggets, The Colorado Rockies and the Colorado Avalanche. But I now look back. Why is Denver never compared to these rabid sports towns. Are we as fans just that tolerable of mediocrity. It would start to seem so considering the Denver Broncos have not won a championship since 1999. The Avalance haven’t won since 2001. And the Nuggets, um well, that’s basketball lol. and the Rockies, urghhh I save my frustration for another blog site.

It seems to me, that living in the past might just may be tolerated in Denver by too many people.

  33. baylinorcrush says:

Believe it or not, that is an excellent beer, have it on tap at my pub from time to time, not one of my favorites but good american ale.

  34. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Alright guys I gotta ski-da-dul!…later

  35. BeastFromEast92 says:

I’ll try it if I get the chance, later.

  36. stevecan2 says:

    That is an awesome ad…

Son of a *&$T, if I was not mouthing my lips as I read it. lmbo

  37. alexanserg says:

Yeah, that arrogantbastard ale is pretty good stuff. Most of the beers produced by that brewery are excellent. Too bad they are so expensive.

If I’m gonna pay that kind of money for beer, I’m going with some Chimay Ale, or something like that.

  38. seweatherman1 says:

They had that brewery on the History Channel last night and it showed how they have to bottle those 32 oz’ers one at a time by hand. Awsome!

  39. stevecan2 says:

The expensive thing is why I never drink ales, etc. The good ones are too costly. Maybe exposes a less sophisticated part of me, but hey, I drink beer for the alcohol. If I want taste, I go for it minus the alcohol.

  40. armadillo_orton says:

Denver fans totally live in the past… How many people still talk about Orton’s 6-0 start here. How many # 7 jerseys do you see out there? The past is past, I am from the EAST. And we stink right now…

  41. baylinorcrush says:

That’s a young drinker speaking, I drink beer for nothing but taste nowdays, because now more than ever life is too short to drink cheap beer, but when I was a young man like Steve, same thing, Old Milwaukee was my beer of choice, like 0.99 cents a quart!

  42. alexanserg says:

I’m reserving judgment on whether we stink till week 6 or so. So far this season we look vastly improved vs last year, imo. I havn’t totally given up on 10-6 just yet, although I am admittedly now expecting something closer to 8-8 or 7-9.

  43. alexanserg says:

Bay, might that be because now you are more financially able to insist on good beer?

  44. baylinorcrush says:

Actually it’s mainly because I drink way less, so I can afford to go quality over quantity.

  45. baylinorcrush says:

    Heather has beautiful eyes….

  46. stevecan2 says:

Old Milwaukee, brings back memories from my childhood. Parents drank it and it was actually the first beer I ever had.

I go with Coors Light and Natural Light every now and then.

  47. stevecan2 says:

But not because of the multi-million dollar ad campaigns, just because, easily accessible and the price is right.

  48. seweatherman1 says:

    Heather is just plain beautiful………..

  49. baylinorcrush says:

In my fridge right now I have:

A 64 oz growler full of 512 IPA brewed in Austin

Some bottles of Inversion IPA from Deshutes brewery in Oregon

Some Oatmeal Stout from the Breckenridge brewery

    Black Porter from Deschutes

And some Tecate for whenever I go on the boat because I do not drink high alcohool beer while captaining the Orange Crush.
