Audition Time Almost Here

February 6th, 2013 - 11:33am by cheerleaders

The past Denver Broncos season was truly incredible. The AFC West Champions won eleven games in a row to finish the regular season 13-3 and earned the number one seed in the AFC. While on the field the Broncos proved that they are a major force to be reckoned with, off the field Broncos Nation showed its strength and came together “United in Orange”. Although this season left many ofus wanting more, it showed the potential for even greater seasons to come.

Hi, my name is Lindsey and this is my second season as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader. Now that the season has come to an end, I’ve turned my focus to preparing for the 2013 season. Auditions for the 2013-2014 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are just a few months away, so I thought I’d give a little insight into what it takes to become a Denver Broncos Cheerleader.

Auditions are a week long, but cheerleader hopefuls prepare for months and years in advance. Most cheerleaders have had years of formal cheer and/or dance training. Brushing up on dance skills, getting into top physical shape, practicing public speaking and modeling are among activities that can help prepare candidates.

The first day of auditions attracts hundreds of hopefuls. Upon arrival, all contestants turn in a photo and short application, to help the judges identify them. First, in groups of two or three, the contestants perform a short “across-the-floor” dance combination, which includes many of the fundamental skills required of Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. Next, a dance routine is taught and contestants perform for the judges. Throughout the day, several cuts are made, and by the end of the day, around 60 individuals are selected to move on to finals.

Over the following week, each finalist will attend two workshops. At the workshops, the participants are taught new routines, practice routines from DVDs provided on the first audition day, and are evaluated on various dance skills. In addition to the dance workshops, a written test is administered to assess football knowledge, the contestants take photos with a professional photographer, and formal job interviews are conducted in front of a small panel. The workshop days are also used to stage and prepare for the live audition show.

The live audition show, performed for an auditorium full of friends, family, Broncos fan, and judges, takes place over the next weekend. This is the final opportunity for hopefuls to perform the routines they have learned over the past week,as well as a self-choreographed solo. After routines are performed, judges deliberate and scores are calculated. After what seems like an eternity to the eager finalists, the selected cheerleaders are announced backstage. The 2013-2014 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are then announced to the auditorium and they perform their first routine together as a team.

26 members are selected to be part of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders team. Since the moment I was selected to be a cheerleader, my life was changed for the better. From cheering on the greatest team in the NFL with the greatest fans in the NFL, to making lifelong friendships and memories with my teammates, to having countless opportunities to make a positive impact in the community – I have been truly blessed. All veteran cheerleaders are required to audition every year, and no spots are guaranteed. My last two seasons have been a blast and I’m hopeful for a third, so wish me luck as I prep for the 2013-2014 auditions! Go Broncos!

    I want Jairus Byrd!

  5. wolfedom says:

I think they do Strand,he is still very productive and still has some left in his tank. I’m wondering if the Broncos are looking to trade Moreno as he did have some good games before his inevitable injury.

  6. BroncoJoe88 says:

LOL really guys?! While I agree with strandof’s Byrd comment, I’m 100% with Turtle on this one and I’m sticking to the topic of this blog posting…. I want Allyson, Chelsie, Amanda, and Jenna!! #DBC

i am a huge manning supporter and glad he is in denver. but he was part of that loss. so no thank you letter for him. that was a team loss and it will always hurt. but they played bad and i expect better from them. so work hard and get back there next season. Broncos 2013! This is where the road to the superbowl begins.

  16. RH709 says:

Looks like the Broncos only have about 14.1 Million to work with. A large chuck of that will go to Clady (roughly 9 million is my guess). So 5.1 to resign Carter, Vick, Bannan, Stokes, bruton, etc and then draft picks. That isnt much.

Possible cap casualties to make room are Mays, DJ and Matt Prater. Yes, I said Matt Prater. With over 3M towards the cap in 2013 puts him on the list. His .25M to cap in 2014 may save him though.

ahhhh the speculation. from what I see, we dont have $$$ to sign these guys you all like. Except maybe the guard from NYJ. PFF graded him pretty high and with kuper having another surgery…

  17. strandoftds82 says:

Cuts more along the lines of McGahee, DJ, and Mays. We’re looking pretty decent compared to other teams and well over the cap at that. The front office in Dove Valley will sort that all out, they did a fantastic job last year of it. Every team has to deal with the cap. And Prater sticks! We’re fine as of right where we’re at The Broncos are in prime position.

  18. strandoftds82 says:

There is a nice article in the DP regarding Christian McCaffrey, Eddie Macs son who plays RB for Christian Valor High School. He’s going to be a Senoir this coming year and has recieve 16 offers from colleges including intrests from Alabama.

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Thumbs up to Turtle and BroncoJoe! ill take a slice of that action as well. In my haste to talk about football ignored the beautiful ladies lol. spoken like a true 88er joe! lol

Every year theres a player who does something wrong but was supposed to be a good draft pick but now tidders on the line of 7th/FA … 2 years ago it was Blount and he came out strong for the bucks (who eventually go Martin cuz blount tho skilled is dumb as a brick) and last year was Vontaze burfict, also dumb as a box of rocks but a very instinctual LB, 2 years ago was Danario Alexander (who I liked alot and is now owning as a charger) … This year it might be Honey Badger (tho i think he goes in the fourth) but it might also be Florida S Ray Ray Armstrong. The 6’3 227 Safety that runs a pretty good 40 and hits like a mach truck. He tried to change schools or something like that (dishonestly) and as a result was benched in 2012 … but with that size speed and potential, and the TEs in the NFL this day … He might be a steal in the later rounds – FA.

  21. Bronco_Turtle says:

6’3 227…. HELL YES that’s all I have to say about RAY RAY…

I CANNOT stand having safety size LB’s…. but I LOVE have LB Size Safeties!!!!

  22. Bronco_Turtle says:

Anybody watching the OTL on CTE? This stuff is getting really serious guys…

  23. Bronco_Turtle says:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/news/20130207/rare-baseball-card-auction.ap/?sct=hp_t2_a14&eref=sihp

Crazy part of Sports History…. Take a second to think about what was going on in our Country during the 1860′s

  24. strandoftds82 says:

If thats all Armstrong did then I’d be for drafting him. A Safety at that size and speed is a hard find. Hey, why not. I’ll have to look him up on youtube and check out his play.

  25. strandoftds82 says:

I just now had taken a gander at Armstrong. He seems like he has a noise for the ball and is a hard hitter. I didn’t see a whole lot but he sure looked like a confident S who belongs on the field. My first thought after watching 4 or five plays I said to myself, he looks like a Brian Dawkins type Safety.

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I am curious what his senior year would have held … i believe he was on the rise. A little over excited on the field but as a late round pick with potential … gotta say, I like the possibilities, heck that low, we could only bring him in on special packages to cover TEs lol. But im curious to see if we will give him a look, last year we gave George Iloka the 6’4 225 safety from Boise a look. Ray Ray might get the same attention.

    TRB

  27. Bronco_Turtle says:

Bay Bay and Ray Ray… Sounds like a band

  28. Bronco_Turtle says:

    DMT DMT !!!

I’m getting excited for Julius Thomas this year… He should be done growing, or close too, and he is BEAST size wise… I think we are set at TE with VG and JT for many years if the kid can get on the field… Big if, but I haven’t lost faith/hope!!!

  29. strandoftds82 says:

Well, Armstrong will be well rested and without any injuries, no mileage of ware and tear for one year. He could be a little rusty come camp time and getting into football shape, but he’ll eventually be up to par after a month or two. I like his size as a Safety.

  30. strandoftds82 says:

If the Broncos do go after a TE in the Draft I’d like us to get Levine Toilolo 6’8″ 265 lbs from Stanford. He’s considered the 5 highest ranked TE in the draft this year.

  31. alaskanbronco06 says:

I saw the other day that Denver has the easiest schedule for next year. I gotta say it is no doubt because how bad SD KC and OAK did. All 4 AFC West teams are in the top 5 easiest schedules.

DJ Williams is going to be asked to restructure his deal. If he agrees he will stay. He was asked this past year and agreed. Mays I think will be asked to this year. Champ Bailey is also probably going to be asked. IMO we should also ask Moreno and McGahee if we plan on keeping them. I think we will try and get Clady for a back loaded contract so less goes against the cap this year but more against it the following years which would be great because next year there is a huge rise in the cap. I also wouldnt be surprised to see Doom asked to restructure. RH also raised an interesting notion of Prater. I dont see him getting the ax but can see him asking to redo his deal. Chris Kuper is making near 5 mil. We may see him asked to restructure as well.

From everything I have seen Denver has over 18 million is cap space and hear a lot of rumors of them asking players to restructure their deals.

  32. RH709 says:

    Hahaha schedule talk. never fails.
impossible to say we have a easy or hard schedule when draft and FA havent even started. teams could be waaayyy different by then.

  33. alaskanbronco06 says:

RH I know. They just go off of the last years win % and our division is why we have such an easy schedule by that standards.

  34. RH709 says:

I think Kupe is 4.5 with .5 guarenteed. With the injury concern and Ramirez improvements near the end of the year, Kupe is a possible cut. Also, cutting Kupe lets you sign a guy like the guard from the jets who was quite good.

Mays is 4M and not guarenteed. I consider him gone. DJ is a similar salary and is on the bubble with how good WW was and Trevathan being a baller at a mucj cheaper price.

Prater is a huge cap hit this year but way less next year and the following.

We have to sign Clady cause he is BA but Id rather front load his contract then backload it cause DT, Decker and Miller will be up next for a payday very soon.

  35. tlcat06 says:

Hey! One way or another Peyton is bringing that Lombardi back to Denver. My thank you Peyton movement has nothing to do with losing one game, it has to do with the fact that Peyton’s our future and I’m just asking that if you’re happy he came to Denver you write him a Thank You note. If you’re not, don’t.
