The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders have been perfecting a new style of dance to incorporate into game day routines–swing!
For the past three weeks, each cheerleader has been working with a partner to learn two complex routines. In addition to adding a completely new dimension of grueling exercise to our practices, adding the dance partners has also added some zest to our regular schedules.
Working with these swing dancers has been an educational experience as well. Until we began working with our partners, I thought I knew most of the ins-and-outs of being a dancer for nearly twenty years.
Once we started, however, I was exposed to an entirely new repertoire of moves including partner back flips, shoulder sits, and my personal favorite-Lindy twists!
Being able to implement complex moves and tricks such as these have been a real treat for the cheerleaders, as moves formerly unattainable for us as solo dancers are now being used in each of our new dance numbers.
In fact, we have found that adding partners and up-tempo music has been not only a learning experience, but has also provided us with a new degree of fun with our dancing!
The Bronco Cheerleaders are excited to incorporate swing dancing into our repertoires of game day routines.
I want to take this time to personally thank all of our partners who have worked so tirelessly with us over the past few weeks! You are all so talented and have made this experience very memorable for all of us!
