2012 Calendar Shoot: Day 5

July 15th, 2011 - 3:23pm by cheerleaders

Day 5 Blog

Today is Day 5 and I have decided to sleep in. My photo shoot was scheduled for early morning on day 6, so I was going to take advantage of the extremely comfortable beds at the Ritz Carlton. I hear a knock at my door. Naturally, I ignored it. Its Sunday 9 a.m. and the person knocking clearly has the wrong room. The knock continues and I got out of bed to answer it. Two of my teammates, Allyson and Margaret, are at the door. They inform me that my photo shoot has been changed to today. My first thought was “No big deal, I am just going to roll with the punches.” Plus, the crew was already shooting at the first location so I assumed I wouldn’t have my shoot until later in the day. My second was to get back into my bed. No more than five minutes later I hear another knock at the door. I get up and it’s Allyson again telling me that I have to be on location for my photo shoot ready to go in less than one hour. I thought she was joking around, but when I started to wake up a bit, I picked up on her sense of urgency. Ultimately, I decided that if I wanted to have my calendar photo taken I should probably get out of bed sooner than later.

I am not going to lie to you Broncos country, I had an overwhelming feeling of panic when I shut the door the second time. I wasn’t prepared to take my photo today. I will spare you the details but trust me friends, I needed more time than one hour! I had made it a personal goal to take the best photo I could. I was worried that being rushed was going to ruin that goal. My panic stopped when I reminded myself, that there are real problems in the world and having to rush around for a couple of hours to have my photo taken was not one of them. So, I got some coffee, I got over myself, and in less than one hour I was ready to depart to the location for my photo shoot.

A short car ride later I arrived at a beautiful house called “The Ski Castle” located in Arrowhead Colorado. I was warmly welcomed by the home owners Scott & Janie Cliver. I was honored to meet some of their family and enjoy the delicious coffee cake and cookies that Janie had made for our entire crew. After arriving at the home I had the opportunity to watch three of my teammates take their photos. The first shot of the day was third year veteran Katie Kosters. She was breathtaking in her gold suit standing in the main arch way of the home. Katie’s smile lights up the room and it ended up being a wonderful way to start the day. Next up was one of our rookies Patricia. Patricia’s photo was taken in a fantastic brick waterfall that was located on the back deck of the home. As I watched Patricia I was blown away by her ability to take the direction from Rob, our photographer. She looked beautiful and I was so proud of her. Last but not least, was second year veteran Lelanna. The setting for Lelanna’s photo was the Grotto located inside the home. The grotto area, for those of us without them, is basically an indoor hot tub. It was all stone, had a waterfall, and the most inviting seating area. Lelanna wore a red suit and looked absolutely amazing.

I blinked and I was up next. It was now or never and I said a little prayer as I walked up the stairs for my shoot. I took my photo on the “Romeo and Juliet” balcony located in the front of the home. I wore a navy blue laced monokini (it is a real word, I am not making it up) and I was put at ease when my coaches and a couple of my teammates were there to cheer me on. With the help of them and the crew I started to relax. I had a blast and the photo turned out beautifully with the architecture of the home and mountains as my back drop. Scott and Janie even jumped in and took a couple photos with me!

After we got back to the Ritz, I went downstairs to the lobby and caught some of Sam’s photo shoot taking place in the hotel bar area. Sam is a second year veteran and professional model. Sam looked flawless in her sequined black suit and sliver heels. As I watched Sam I was thinking two things; I can’t believe someone’s legs actually look like that in real life, and Sam is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

As an avid “planner” I realized being rushed every once in a while isn’t always a bad thing. If I hadn’t shot on day 5 I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet the Cliver family. I also wouldn’t have been able to take a moment to be reminded of the true beauty of each one of my teammates. My teammates and coaches talked me through my anxiety and put my mind at ease. It was with the love and support of my Broncos family that I made it through my rushed day, and made my third calendar experience my most successful.

Go Broncos,

    1) #43 Troy Polamalu
    2) #9 Drew Brees
    3) #15 Tim Tebow

Just got home and it’s so flippin hot here, you can chew the air. Ugh

Anybody see the Forbes list of most valuable sports franchises? Broncos rank 15th on it!

    Manc U
    Cowboys
    Yankees
Real Madrid and the 5th team escapes me. (no particular order). Pretty neat our team from the dusty mountain outpost ranks up there with some heavyweights!!!

Legwold with the so important salary cap figures for us which actually stunned the heck out of me, not that I don’t know about how much our top guys get paid but more of how all that quickly adds up towards the cap:

It appears the salary cap for the 2011 season will be about $120 million per team. That’s for player salaries and doesn’t include $20 million per team for player benefits. If the salary cap is $120 million, the Broncos would have to make adjustments to their roster to sign their draft picks and some free agents.

The Broncos have 72 players on their roster and nearly $129 million in salary commitments. That’s after releasing tight end Daniel Graham and defensive linemen Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams .

Denver’s biggest cap number for 2011 belongs to star pass rusher Elvis Dumervil ($14.423 million). Behind him are cornerback Champ Bailey ($10.5 million), quarterback Kyle Orton ($8.879 million), guard Chris Kuper ($7.315 million), safety Brian Dawkins ($7.156 million), linebacker D.J. Williams ($6.632 million), cornerback André Goodman ($4.080 million), wide receiver Demaryius Thomas ($3.23 million) and quarterback Tim Tebow ($3.188 million).

Denver’s “dead money” — cap numbers for players no longer on the roster — includes $4.996 million for Bannan, $3.25 million for Graham and $3.43 million for Williams.

Once the new collective bargaining agreement is ratified by owners and players and the NFL returns to the business of pro football, the Broncos plan to be active in free agency. But they will have some juggling to do to get under the new salary cap.

In free agency, the Broncos hope to sign a running back, a fullback and a defensive tackle. They would like to have Bannan and Williams back with reduced contracts. Bannan might be difficult to bring back, because the former Colorado star likely will draw interest from several teams.

A closer look tells me the following:

-We absolutely must get MAJOR rushing the QB contribution from Doom this season to be able to justify that kind of salary long term, 14.4 mil!!!!

-While Bailey’s salary is a “little” more sensible, 10.5 mil, for that money we need him to remain the great shutdown CB he has been, anything short of that would be a big disappointment for the dough.

-Orton, keep the 8.8 mil and trade him, enough said.

-Kuper at 7.3 mil has better have the best year is ever had, an OG making over 7 mil a year….

-Dawkins nearly 7.2 mil, I say trade the man if at all possible regardless of how valuable a teacher he would be for our two new top safeties from the draft, teachers just don’t make that much, haha, and as far as keeping him because he is a leader on the field that’s going to be pretty darn hard to do when you’re on it just for running downs (his legs have long let him down to be in on passing downs that’s for sure). See if Philadelphia wants him so he can retire an Eagle, that would be the right thing to do, time to move forward with youth at that position.

-DJ, 6,6 mil, still the most overpaid player on the field for his level of production even though on paper he always records the most tackles but with no D line to speak off on a team that cannot stop the run it’s hard not to do since the ball runner is always coming right in the middle at DJ showing the lack of validity put forth by his stats. He better shape up big time on and off the field this year or it’s sayonara DJ! I would ask to restructure his contract right now!

-Goodman, 4.1 mil, also needs to be restructured.

-Demaryius, 3.2 mil, better see if that guy can bring us any trade value now because the man made of glass chances of withstanding the rigors of the NFL are very minute, specially his lower legs, they just don’t hold up. All I see is a big disappointment there so let’s get out now if we can salvage something.

-Tebow, worth every penny is what I bank on.

I think he forgot Moreno in there who has made huge amounts of moneys the last two years with hardly any results. And dead money is what it is, mistakes from the previous heads of state, and there is nothing we can do about that.

Bottom line is with my proposal we could be saving around 25 mil putting us at 104 mil, 16 mil under the cap, room to sign the rookies and a few INEXPENSIVE FAs as I have been saying all along is the ONLY way to go and you guys can now see why, CAP MONEYS, duh!!!

And please don’t come on here tearing down my ideas with nothing to offer in return. The reality of it is we need to cut down or get rid of some of the current salaries just so we can take care of the draftees and any help we need in FA such as RB and DT. So yeah people will say we should keep Dawkins because he is great, Demaryius because he will be great, Orton because he would be a great back up, etc, etc , but that does absolutely zero for figuring out what Xanders and Co have to figure out now.

    What’s your solution?

    Mebane? LMAO!!!!

  7. strandoftds says:

Bay, thats a real eye opener. Whatever needs to be done I`m behind the brains of the Johns and x-man. If Dawk has to go so be it. We must sign our draft picks and get some quality FA`s in here.

  8. strandoftds says:

I`m heading out to Wyoming to go do some fishing for a few days. I hope by the time I`m back home that a new CBA is signed so we can get the ball rolling. Later!

  9. royalbroncofan1 says:

Knowshon Moreno signed a five-year, $16.7 million contract with a $5.08 million club option for 2014. The deal includes $13.135 million guaranteed and Moreno can earn an additional $6.3 million through incentives. This should also be restructured and if not, cut ties.

  10. marshisboss says:

Trade Orton surely restructure Dawkins contract Goodmans as well no problem with Doom Champ or Kuper. Demaryius i am willing to give some time and with DJ i am between minds I think he might be traded

  11. royalbroncofan1 says:

If Broncos offer only a 3rd rd pick for KO as strand mentioned, that should generate interest as return for investment will be at premium especially for those in dire need.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

As anyone who reads the blogs here would know I really would have no problems at all trading DJ, but since we have been so thin and now new at LBs I would think they would rather rework his contract than to trade him and see one more year what he can really do back at the weakside, his arguably best spot.

It better be at least a high 3rd for Orton is all I’ll say about that.

Don’t know what Moreno is making this year, but it was around 5 mil last year I think, and everybody here also knows I would have no problem trading him whatsoever, but same applies here as for DJ, very weak at the RB position so trading him is not as enviable at this point as reworking his contract which is a must.

  13. royalbroncofan1 says:

I for one, would like to see the Broncos give Demaryius Thomas another opportunity before considering parting ways. DT offers quite a bit of upside at the wideout position with his speed..(4.36 – 4.38) in the 40 yd dash. He is a great downfield blocker…something not all wideouts do very well. DT also has great leaping ability.. (part of high school basketball state championship team). DT did not have a record of being injury prone during his college career until he was injured prior to the Combine. Thomas also has a great attitude and is very coachable.
The Team will have to take a closer look at him, once the lockout is lifted and make their evaluation. Also may consider the option of restructuring his contract based on availability, if possible.

The Broncos no doubt, will do what’s best for the Team.

  14. baylinorcrush says:

Problem with a torn achilles is you might as well throw a coin as far as his chances to ever be fully recovered are concerned and on a big man with multiple lower legs/feet issues in the NFL the last couple of years it just compounds the negatives, just saying, lots to think about… Nice kid though hope it all works out for him, with us or anyone else.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

And remember he tore it in February, not last season, so his 8 months recovery already makes him miss yet one more half of a season before he has a chance to do anything, it’s a tough roster spot to reserve for someone who has yet to have a healthy NFL season.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

I personally I’m now more laying my hopes in having Thomas succeed, not Demaryius but the newly acquired TE Julius, similar big body, similar skill set even if at a different position.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Problem for the front office is with Moreno and Demaryius being question marks now means our two previous first picks in our drafts are in danger of being a total waste, tough pill to swallow, sometimes teams hang on to those just so they don’t have to face such horrendous prospect but often it is best to make tough decisions as soon as possible… I would personally move on without either. I’m a mean guy, haha.

  18. royalbroncofan1 says:

No not mean… just more of a realist. lol

An Achilles tendon rupture sends more than one third of National Football League (NFL) players to the sidelines permanently.

  19. TheHorseWhisperer7 says:

    Havent been here in centuries

  20. TheHorseWhisperer7 says:

actually the last 3 out of 4 first round picks for us are big question marks… not including Tebow…
