2010 Broncos Cheerleader Challenge

Team Defense

Hey Broncos Country!!!

Summer is well on its way and we all know what that means — fun in the sun and training camp!!!  Both the players and the cheerleaders are working hard and gearing up for the season, but a friendly, “Broncos Cheerleader Challenge,” definitely helped kick things up a notch.

This past Sunday, the 2010 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders participated in the very first Broncos Cheerleader Challenge. The Breakers Resort in Aurora hosted us and did so in style! The resort had a full size pool, lake, gym, dance room, basketball court and so much more! They divided the 26 of us evenly into four teams (Offense, Defense, Orange and Blue), each team consisting of six women competing in four different events. I was on Team Defense!

The events included Tug of War, Basketball, Kayaking, and Swimming Relays, each event worth 100 points.  The competition really heated up when Director of Cheerleaders Teresa Shear announced that the winning team would not only earn bragging rights for the rest of the season but also be granted the right to donate $1,000 to a charity of their choice.  Your Denver Broncos Cheerleaders then went from sideline beauties to competitive, bombshell athletes!!

The day started off with a lot of chanting, hollering and of course, some fun and friendly “trash talking” to one another.  Team Offense and Defense battled it out on Tug-O-War as did Teams Orange and Blue. Then the winners of each round went face-to-face for the gold medal and 100 points.

Only two cheerleaders competed in the remaining three events, and a girl on each team was selected (by their captain) for two of the remaining events. We then headed to the basketball court to shoot some hoops. We were given 60 seconds to shoot as many baskets as possible.

After some rivalry inside, we all grabbed a swimsuit, water shoes and a towel, and the water games began!  We ran from the Broncos helmet to the beach, grabbed our kayak, paddled around two water fountains and back to the beach where we ran back through the helmet for a strong finish!!  Swimming relays shortly followed as a crowd grew to cheer us on.

Team Defense had a surprise in store for the rest of us, arriving at the pool with Speedo swim caps rhinestoned with the Broncos logo only meant one thing: “In it to win it!”  Although Team Defense was quite entertaining, Team Blue looked like true athletes, swimming circles around all of their fellow teammates!!

The competition was a blast and is just getting started. Seeing all the personal drive and motivation was contagious. We compete next month as well, so tune in to Comcast’s “On Demand” to catch the results of the intense Denver Broncos Cheerleader Challenge. We want you to pick your favorite team and to see how much athleticism is put into being a Broncos Cheerleader!! We appreciate all your support and look forward to yet another awesome year!

    Hi Brianne,

Thanks for the report. It is so great to keep up with you wonderful ladies and I hope you’ll continue to blog.

I’m sure I’m not alone among the fans in wondering about Fan Fair (if there is going to be one this year) and the Calendar Release Party. We just love a chance to get to meet you wonderful ladies, take pictures, get the calendar signed and all that fun stuff.

Thanks to you – and all the other girls – for everything you do in the community and also for the troops. You are great role models for young girls in the community.

    Don
