Ready for a Monday Night Showdown

October 13th, 2012 - 3:43pm by Von MillerOther posts by

This is a huge game, especially coming off a loss last week. You definitely want to win all your division games. It’s tough, but we definitely want to get ourselves in a tie for first place with a win in our division to give us a better chance to go to the playoffs.

All weeks are important, but this week is definitely important because we don’t want to go to the bye week with a bad taste in our mouth.

It’s always a challenge going against the Chargers. We won one last year and they won one. I’m sure we’re going to go in there and they’re going to try their best to beat us.

Being a divisional opponent, we’re pretty familiar with them and in turn, they’re pretty familiar with us. It’ll be a good game. We’ve had another good week of preparation and hopefully we can get it done on Monday.

I love playing on Monday Night. It’s the only game on. I used to watch Monday Night Football when I was a kid, so playing on it is a dream come true.

Making a Difference

This week I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about my foundation. Von’s Vision is an organization that helps underprivileged kids who can’t afford glasses or contact lenses. It also helps teenagers that are eligible for Lasik surgery.
You can check my Twitter account for details.

It’s something I really identify with, because I’ve been wearing glasses since like the third grade. And I’ve been wearing contacts since the fourth grade. I know how it is to have to pay for contacts and stuff. And for adults to have to scrap up money to pay for Lasik surgery, it’s real expensive.

We have another tough opponent on the schedule this week with a trip to New England.

It feels great to be able to play without a cast this time around against the Patriots. We have a bad taste in our mouth from last year so we definitely want to go in there and play really well this weekend.

We just have to be mentally sound and cut down on the mental errors. They’re a great team and they’re going to make plays. We just have to make plays too.

One Day at a Time

September 28th, 2012 - 3:11pm by Von MillerOther posts by

It’ll be another tough game for us this week. We’re just going out there and taking it one day at a time this week in our preparation for the Raiders, and hopefully we’ll be able to come out with a win. We want to get back to an even record this week.

It’s a pretty tough opponent coming in here this week – it’ll be an exciting game to watch. Darren McFadden is a great back. He has great vision, great power and speed – he has all three and that makes him a tough player to stop.

It’s great to play at home. We need our fans to bring that same great Orange Crush mentality as they have for the first two games.

I’ve been playing with the new camera a little. I started messing around with the cameras my junior year of college and it’s become a hobby of mine. I’m hoping to have videos up in the next couple of weeks. Just be patient with me and I’m going to do my best to get them posted.

They put me on the Gameday program cover this week, so let’s play some trivia and I’ll send the winner a signed copy (pictured below).

Here’s the question: Who was the first quarterback I sacked in the NFL (regular season)?

Playing for the Fans

It was a tough loss last week, but we have a tough team coming to town in a couple days too, so we can’t dwell on it. We had a good week of practice, so I’m feeling pretty good about this week’s game. I’m looking forward to playing the Texans this Sunday.

It’s great to play back-to-back home games these next two weeks. I love playing in front of our passionate fans at Sports Authority Field.

I’ve been hearing that you guys like the sack dances. I’ve got a new one coming this week if I can get a sack, so stay tuned. I plan them the week before, right after I get done with the old one. Hopefully this one will be pretty cool. I’m going to try to get a new one each time, but whatever happens, happens.

I’m extremely excited to give you guys a sneak peek into what we do on a day-to-day basis with the camera. I’m hoping to have some videos for you guys that I shot on my new Cannon Mark II in the next couple of weeks.

Talk to you next week.

Tough Test

September 15th, 2012 - 2:48pm by Von MillerOther posts by

We’re getting ready to go to Atlanta to play a good team in the Falcons. We’re looking forward to taking the next step. It should be a good game and a good measuring stick for us and our team. We’re looking forward to getting on the plane and hopefully coming back with the ‘W.’

Last week’s opener was great. I’ve never seen so much orange in my life. Our fans are great. I’m looking forward to knocking this next game out then getting back in front of the fans at home against the Texans next Sunday.

Before that though, we have a tough test coming up against the Falcons. They have a great offense, a great quarterback in Matt Ryan and lots of weapons. We definitely have to be on our A game to pull it off.

Hopefully A&M gets a win this afternoon vs. SMU. We just have to keep taking it one day at a time to be that program that we know we can be.

Von Miller Player Blog

September 8th, 2012 - 9:13am by Von MillerOther posts by

Editor’s Note: This season, DenverBroncos.com will feature two player blogs. Linebacker Von Miller and wide receiver Eric Decker will check in with a new post every week. Below is Miller’s first entry of the season. You can read Decker’s initial post here.

Hey Broncos Country!

Von Miller here with my first blog of the season. I’m looking forward to posting each week and giving you guys an inside look at what goes on as we get ready for the upcoming game each week.

I just got a new camera – a Canon Mark II 5D. I haven’t gotten the Mark III, but I’m going to, so I’m hoping I can share a few pictures with you guys throughout the year. Whenever I get some cool shots, you guys will be the first to see them.

Everybody is excited to open the season at home at Sports Authority Field in front of the best fans in the NFL.

We’ve got the orange jerseys back this year and as a defense, we’re hoping to bring fans back to the Orange Crush days.

I’m ready to get out there in front of the fans. We had a lot of stuff happen around Denver in the last year and we just want to bring some happiness and joy – and hopefully some wins – back to Colorado this season.

On the college side, we have A&M in the SEC this year. We have our first SEC game this weekend vs. Florida, and I’m sure we’ll turn Gators into swampbait coming up. I’m pretty excited about that too.
