Monday Morning Blues, 6-1

November 2nd, 2009 - 9:58am by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Coach McDaniels said it best after the game. They’re a good football team and you can’t play poorly on the road against a good football team.

Both lines of scrimmage were dominated by the Ravens. I’ve always been told, “give credit, where credit is due.” They earned it. Our crew had dominated that sacred ground up until this Sunday. That’s really where the game is won when you really pay attention. No one knows or understands when you win because all ESPN, FOX and the rest of the TV shows share, are highlights.

Highlights: High flying catches, diving catches, great runs from scrimmage, dipping and dodging. Never the blocks that sprung them or the line of scrimmage being pushed back during the running plays or at the goal line and the amount of time Kyle Orton has to go to his third or fourth read.

6-0, Say No More!

October 20th, 2009 - 10:04am by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, go baby, GO!! Was that fun to watch or what? My son had just walked upstairs and I called to him to come watch the run. WOW! History in the making with a punt return (71 yds) and a kickoff return (93 yds) for touchdowns.

Then, the Chargers replied with their own version of a punt return. I wasn’t happy but that makes for fun TV and fan viewing and the halftime show was funny with Chris Berman saying all you had to do was watch 4th down and the kicking game to enjoy the first half.

They had our number early then the D… as in DOOM (two sacks) and the Boys started firing on all cylinders. Five sacks, a bunch of knockdowns, a bunch of in-your-face Philip Rivers while you try to throw the ball. You really have to give Coach Nolan a lot of credit in that he really shut down Rivers with the blitz package in the second half. From the corners and the middle walking up and back, disguising it well.

Congrats Coach McDaniels 5-0

October 11th, 2009 - 7:22pm by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

S.I. Jinx-Schminx. Stats-schmats. Win — Win is what this team does and I had to get a post off tonight because I can’t wait to read the papers tomorrow and see what writers are jumping on the bandwagon now.

A helping of Crow should be served around town for the non-believers and I’ll be the first at the plate with my prediction early on. It a good thing I’m typing because it’s not polite to talk with your mouth full of bird. :o) Mumble-mumble.

My hats off to Coach McDaniels and I had a HUGE smile on my face when he did a little fist waving at the end of the game … still have that smile writing this. Beating your mentor really means a lot and he handled it with class and a little fun for the fans … thanks coach. CONGRATS.

DEFENSIVELY AWESOME!!!!! 4-0

October 5th, 2009 - 10:15pm by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Wow was all I could say after the game…WOW!!! The Defense impressed me to no end. All over Tony Romo all day long and relentless. Tough not to take your mind off how they disrupted Romo and held the running backs to NO NUMBERS to speak of and sacked and harassed him all day.

I don’t have the stats in front of me and really don’t need them because they dominated the Cowboys offensive line and we dinked them like we talked about last week leading up to the game.

3-0 Makes For A Fun Start

September 28th, 2009 - 7:16pm by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Funny how the papers changed directions today with a headline of 3-0, NO JOSHING….gotta love it. Little different tune than the preseason, huh.

I LOVE BEATING THE RAIDERS, so my season will be complete with another win against them. :o)

O.K. not quite, but it sure makes me smile hard and I loved the jawing that went on before and during the game.

Doom & Buck Show week 2

September 21st, 2009 - 8:59am by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

First, congrats have to go out to Shannon Sharpe and his induction into the Ring of Fame. Probably the best tight-end to ever play the game. Congrats Shannon!! Nice work buddy and……….parachuting onto the field……….what are you crazy? :o) That was a classic.

Second, to Mr. Bowlen for hosting such a nice Alumni Weekend event. First class all the way. That speaks volumes about him and the organization. I’m proud to say I played for him. Most teams across the league don’t have an event like that and Mr. Bowlen doesn’t have to put it on, but he does and the camaraderie and the spirit continues in Broncomania land, promise. Lots of old stories and laughs were shared and we have an opportunity to see guys we haven’t seen in years, sometimes. Wonderful event. Thank you Mr. Bowlen.

One in a Row!

September 16th, 2009 - 7:03am by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Little late getting this up. Was in Key West over the weekend at a Charity fishing tournament and was on the water both days. Came in Sunday to see the last few minutes of the game. Then was in the air all day Monday getting back to town and played catch up yesterday at the office.

Hmmm, take it any way we can get it. Yea, somewhat like the Patriots game Monday night….a little luck involved, but we’ll take it right?? They did too.

Cards Roundup - Roster Week

September 6th, 2009 - 8:31am by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Now that’s what I’m talking about. Turnovers, ball control and gang tackling. I saw a lot of progress out there. I also saw Brandstater behind a second O-line and they did a real nice job.

Sure, all the starters weren’t on the field at the same time but I liked what I saw from a QB that had limited snaps up to this point.

BIG WEEK in anticipation of the opener and what you will see is the speed of the game “click” up a notch…watch and tell me if you see it.

Bears Game Review

August 31st, 2009 - 8:40pm by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

So I walked around the office asking folks what they thought of the game. It was quite the mix of reviews.

From, boy are we in trouble to I think Head Coach Josh McDaniels isn’t showing us what we’ll see this season.

Very mixed. My thoughts were, I was watching a team that hasn’t found it’s identity yet. What I’m about to say shouldn’t be new or even a revelation of any sort.

New Team, New coach, New Defense, New Scheme, really NEW everything. We haven’t really established the run or the pass yet and we’ve seen a lot of mixing it up which I really like because if you have read this or I’ve heard you right, we were predictable in the past and I’d agree.

Cutler Week, da Bears!!

August 24th, 2009 - 4:44pm by mark_cooperOther posts by mark_cooper

Da Bears week and homecoming for our old QB. The game against the Seahawks was actually a good learning experience for what I’ll call a young team getting to really know each other and play together.

I know it wasn’t pretty..BUT…that’s really what pre-season is for. Fumbles kill and turnovers in general can ruin your season. Much of what we need to see on our side is turnovers and they come with a lot of preaching and practicing.

I don’t get to worked up over pre-season and if you’ve been following this blog for the last year or so you could go back and see that. Pre-season is a time to experiment with players, positions a bit and showcase a guy or two you might want to trade (did I just say that) yep that happens too. Seen it first hand.

It’s a business.

Oh, by the way too funny, Ks-BroncoGirl was talking about not wanting to buy a jersey because they get cut-traded-hurt or who knows what. I got a great idea. We start selling generic Broncos jerseys with velcro on the back and sell names separately? I’m a genius :o)…….right? Ha! Ha! Love it.

O.K. Cutlers in town so here we go. Boo him back to Chicago. :o) That’s what wee suppose to do. Nice article today on Cutler and what did you really expect. They added Orlando Pace so that will help him. be interesting what else gets said, like Mike Klis mentioned going after him a bit. I was in Baltimore when John went back to play……….. UGLY CROWD.

I’m actually encouraged by last weeks game other than the left handed interception. I have to share some perspective here. When you play at that level you think your Superman to start out with. BUT even Superman threw right handed. I’d started laughing when I saw Orton throw left handed. I immediately said there’s the Superman coming out. And that’s not a crack. He probably did that somewhere in his career and was successful…BUT at this level there’s 22 Supermen on the field believe it or not and you just have to laugh because when he rewatches that on film everyone in the film room will be laughing…promise.

That’s O.K. though, I actually appreciate the fact that he thought he could do it…it showed me something I liked. Call me weird but I gained a little respect and had a good laugh over it at the same time. By the way DON’T do it again, once was enough. Maybe a shovel pass left handed or underarm but you throw like a girl left handed :o)
