You win, you get nominated for awards … four of ‘em, to be precise, but one player is nominated twice.
That player is running back Selvin Young, whose 109-yard, one-touchdown performance made him the nominee for both the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week and the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Young, who made his second career start in the place of the injured Travis Henry, scored from 20 yards out early in the third quarter to give the Broncos the lead for good. It was the first touchdown of his NFL career.

Strongside linebacker Nate Webster was nominated for GMC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the Broncos’ second touchdown in a nine-second span of the third-quarter Sunday. His 17-yard return of a Damon Huard fumble that was forced by Elvis Dumervil’s sack pushed the Broncos out in front by two scores, where they would remain for the rest of the afternoon. Webster also logged five solo tackles — not bad for a game in which he did not start as the Broncos opened in a nickel package.

Finally, Head Coach Mike Shanahan is one of the finalists for Motorola Coach of the Week, after an overall team effort that witnessed four takeaways, four sacks and 327 total yards of offense. The win was also the Broncos’ first at Arrowhead Stadium since 2002, and the 16-point margin was the team’s third-largest there in 35 overall games at the facility.

Shanahan, I wound up my vote let it fly like an ELWAY-TO-MCCAFFREY but Travis Henry’s weed smoke blurred the field of vision and SIMEON RICE picked it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, you’re certainly in touch with your anger there, LPP.
Any fines for Brackenworth Andrew?
Selvin Young looks like the future, time to let Puff Daddy go his own way. That was a gritty performance he had out there, his cut backs were something else. Any chance that Crowder breaks into the starting line up this week? Kid looks like he’s figuring out the speed of the game. Glad Shanny accepted he had made a mistake in signing Rice. What took Bates so long to figure out his personnel? Jay Cutler looked gimpy and the two “rookies” playing in the middle need to execute much better than that in order to stop the Titans.
Nothing I’ve heard about, OrAnGe.
in my opinion any bronco up for an award should receive it- our boys deserve it. focus on the game itself not what their personal life endures
I just cannot bring myself to vote for Webster….I…just….can’t….

I think LPP, over time, in his insane quest to prove Plummer’s greatness, actually STOPPED being a Broncos fan. I mean, I guess it can happen, you actually convince yourself of your sarcasm, begin to believe the verbal puke you are spewing, and wake up one day and no longer bleed orange and blue…
Is that what has happened???

Nobody deserves any rewards just get ready for next week.
i’m def. voting for N-WEBB, when i play madden 08 with my buddies he always comes up big for me, which makes me laugh cause in real life he is a scrub, but hey, even blind squirrels find nuts right, so im def. gonna vote for him! LOL
Selvin young deserves a reward, but sadly he won’t get it since Marshawn Lynch will win it because of his name.
“Young, who made his second career start in the place of the injured Selvin Young”
… Methinks you meant Travis Henry there, perhaps?
Mr. Mason, have you noticed the difference in the defense when Denver wins vs. when they lose? The D linemen are closer together in the box and the LB’s give each other more space. That’s not what Bates runs, that’s what Shanny runs, just wondering if you’d noticed it?
Actually, hrdnokd, isn’t that what Larry Coyer runs? It’s hard to me to vote against Marshawn Lynch though. Once I saw his YouTube’d interviews he instantly became my favorite rookie in years. YEARS!

Hoss, that is what Coyer ran, but my point was that Bates wasn’t using HIS system. Seems to me they need to STICK WITH IT!
Surely no offense to Selvin becaues I love the way the kid plays but how about Tim Crowder for rookie of the week?? 3 solo tackles, 2 sacks and I believe the other was on Holmes for a loss, on a defense that created quite a disruption in the Chief backfield.
Andrew, any changes with personnel on the practice squad today? Any changes? Anybody get traded? I know you work for the team but give us a little hint…wouldja? What is the compensation to denver for a team that claims a player off the practice squad? Negotiable?
Thanks!
Ted S.
Welcome back LPP. I agree with the Guru. I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for a guy who had one good play this year. He could possibly sway my opinion if he steps it up the rest of the season and is part of a miracle playoff run, but I just don’t see that happening.
LPP, are you like a HUGE handball fan now? Does Plummer have a restraining order against you yet? It seemed like you were headed in that direction last I spoke to you.

hey what are you guys saying about me them are fighting words
hey what are you guys up to
?
I take back everything I have ever said, Jake plummer was a average QB at best with his erratic play and Shanahan is a good coach. This team is young and will only improve from here, Cutler has a lot of talent and a lot of time for that talent to develop, the future is bright for him. I’m going to be deleting my pointless website soon too.
P.S-I also made my password wayy to obvious for this account.
Yeah. That is obvious.
HAHAHAHAHA
I’d like formally to apologize to every true Bronco fan for my arrogant ramblings. Whatever I might say in the future–my honest true feelings are that Plummer was washed up and needed to go. Cutler rocks. Thank you for your patience. I will try not to be such a wad.
any password will do
for any name
any name at all?
O! That’s not good!
How is Lynch so handily winning Rook o’ the Week? He got 50 less yards on one less carry vs. a pathetic Miami team with a rush defense giving up 50 more yards per game and four times as many rush TDs? Lynch is a great back, and the two point conversion to tie is great, but I think Young out-played him this week. Furthermore, how is Leon Hall beating him??
TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!
That needs to be fixed, why require a pw for posting if it doesnt matter.
Mason,
Why did you delete my last comment on the fourth quarter notes of the game? I used no foul langue, and only defended myself against someone insulting me… Is it okay for him to insult me, but not for me to defend myself?
Did anyone else buy a Al Wilson and Rod Smith Jersey, last season, and now feel like a curse??? Maybe I should buy a Vince Young, and Albert Haynesworth Jersey. Go Bronocs…….Show them why Vince doesnt is a joke, and shoulnt be on the cover of madden.

Didnt mean to do that.
If the Broncos need me, my number is in Mr. Sundquist’s Blackberry. I haven’t taken a snap in years, but I feel pretty good. Ol’ Bubcat is just a phone call away! Let Bubby Play!
With Simeon Rice now signed to the Colts, I can’t help but think he’s gonna terrorize us if we meet up with him in the playoffs
Which comment, dekrey? I haven’t deleted anything you’ve written … are you referring to your comment at the end of the third-quarter gameday blog entry?
Oh… Was it the third quarter. Sorry about that than.
Ahhhhhh, the sanctity of my good name has been HACKED! Andrew, I thought your ran a more secure board than that!
My good name has been drug through the mud!
I still LOVE Jake Plummer! and Handball!
You guys are really good players and coaches. I don’t know what to say, I am speechless!!!
Hey, you should consider yourself flattered that people want to try and impersonate you … and I just write the messages that start the conversations; I’m not on bouncer detail in these parts.
Andrew, if you’re still around I have a question. If you already answered it on a different post, I apologize ahead of time. Anyway, did Shanahan address all the offsides penalties at the end of the game? How is that being dealt with? thanks….
GO BRONCOS!!!!
LOL… this is pathetic

Yeah, I would like to see those offisdes penalties addressed, but I also thought that they highlighted a problem which has become fairly blatant, especially this year, in the NFL. On many broadcasts, “they” simply refuse to show replays. Whether it be to show commercials, or to show footage of stupid MNF interviews, questionable plays are not being replayed, especially not at helpful angles.
Take the offsides penalties. From the broadcast angle, quite difficult to tell if someone is lined up in the neutral zone, unless they blatantly have the ball underneath their stomach or something. If Denver gets called four or five times for offsides, at least show us some visual evidence that they were for sure offsides. Take also the long KC field goal which appeared (to me) to miss, they did not show a useful replay of that. I believe they showed one real-time replay from the same angle that was televised right before going to commercial, don’t they have cameras underneath the uprights in order to catch shots such as these?
