According to The Denver Post, Keith Burns is about to become the newest member of the Broncos’ coaching staff.
The Post reports that Burns, the club’s longtime special-teams captain, will retire and transition from the ground-floor locker room to the second-floor coaches’ wing in an assistant special-teams coaching slot. The team already has a pair of assistant special-teams coaches in Ryan Slowik and Jimmy Spencer, with new special-teams coordinator Scott O’Brien overseeing the unit.
Burns had been an unrestricted free agent the past three and a half weeks.
“I think Keith is going to make a great coach,” Head Coach Mike Shanahan told the Post.

Y? When we need’em as a special team player. He never complains and doesnt even want the big contract. Why not let him do both?
its a good move, Keiths awesome and he seems to have a strong presence in the locker room. And I always think home grown coaches are a good move, builds a stronger orginaization
It’s a great move, But I can’t uderstand why we are not keeping his talent on the playing field(God Knows we need all we can get!) Lets b real OK,Our special teams Sucks So someone has to do somthing….It seems like a lot of coaches to suck that bad, to many cooks or something….
The first thing I would point out is why does Andrew Mason have to use the Denver Post as his source on this one?
If they think that this is the best place for him than I’m all for it.
You know, anything that we can do to make our ST any better, is a step in the right direction. Our special teams….. not that special…….
We need Burns on the field!!!!!!
honestly,i think kieth would be the perfect guy to coach a team he used to play for. he knows what is going on down there so he would be excellent mentor for the guys that are going to try to fill his shoes on defense and special teams, so I think its a wise decision
How about Keith as a player coach for some real on the field teaching
