The Broncos’ 2007 media guide is now available on-line, and the first item of note on it is the man on the front of the bulbous 720-page book — cornerback Champ Bailey.

Bailey’s placement on the cover drips with significance, as he is the first active Bronco spotlighted on the cover since Rod Smith in 2003 and just the second this decade. I can tell you that inside the walls of Dove Valley, being an active player spotlighted on the front of the media guide has become a significant honor in recent times, reserved for only the elite of those to don a Broncos uniform — Smith, John Elway in 1998, Terrell Davis in 1999 and now Bailey.
The other covers of the 2000s have focused on stadiums (Mile High for its final season in 2000; INVESCO Field for its first in 2001) …
… iconography (the sculpture of horses running through a mountain creek outside INVESCO Field, used for the 2002 guide) …
… team-oriented shots (the 2005 and 2006 covers) …

… and a retired player (John Elway, spotlighted in 2004 upon his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame) …

Seeing the great 24 on the cover only gets me exicted even more for ‘07 it is like when you see the first present under the tree for you. You know that only more good things are still to come man i can’t wait bring on buffalo !!!!
I doubted Shanny when you traded Portis for Bailey. Honestly I was sick to my stomach. But man…I tell you what, I’d take Bailey on my team anyday over Portis. Bailey in the few years he’s been here has already earned himself a spot with Broncos greats, yes Broncos GREATS! Hats off to the man for earning a spot on the cover of the media guide.

Post Script:
I’ll never doubt you again Shanny (well at least not on that level :>)
Champ might be the best CB to ever play the game, and we get to enjoy watching him during his prime! I’m excited to see this season and how others team are going to attempt to execute against Champ on one side and Bly on the other.
It is perfect to have Champ on the cover. He truly is one of the elite players to wear a Bronco uniform as well as the best CB in the game. I didn’t know who he was when we traded for him and was upset that we got rid of Portis…….nice move Shanahan. That was the last time I will doubt your knowledge at this level. Bailey is the maste of his craft despite so few chance. Congrats to you Bailey for making the media cover.
champ is the best cb this is true but having dre bly by his side is like having weapons in both hands goin in a battle.. and u gotta look at lynch also cuz hes 1 of the hardest hitting safties so our secondary is awsome. i think for us 2 do good this season , jay cutler has 2 learn 2 read the blitz and throw 2 all of our old and now new weapons
I thought the trade for Baily wasn’t a good one when we gave up Portis, I watched Baily at Washington and wasn’t that impressed. Make me eat crap and spit up blood!!! That was not a good move for Denver, it was a GREAT move for Denver!! CHAMP, THE NAME FITS AND YOU WEAR IT WELL!!!!
To watch Champ Bailey play for the Broncos is why I live!!!
He is the best, hopefully he has 3-5 more years of Elite status left in him because we are hungry for a few championships.
Ha, yes. I live just outside of Buffalo and I am heading to that game myself. I’ll be there in my throwback Terrell Davis jersey ready for everyone to spit on me.
Champ Bailey is the closest thing to being the perfect athlete in terms of what he possesses.
My dad is a Redskins fan, so I knew who Champ was before the trade. I remember being so excited to nab him. I also remember my dad being furious that his favorite player got traded to the Broncos.
Ha ha. Every time Champ makes a game winning or saving play, I give him a call just to rub it in his face a little.
broncos are going to win the super bowl this year
