That Was Huge

September 18th, 2008 - 7:42pm by Ryan Torain

I know I started out last week’s post with a wow, but I’ve got to do it again.

Wow. That win against the Chargers was huge. It was definitely something I’ve never experienced. It was an amazing feeling from start to finish, and I can’t wait to get out there and give the crowd some emotion — just have some fun out there myself.

I had chills all through my body. It was electrifying. All day I was just so excited for kickoff and for the game to get underway, just to see what was going to happen. And clearly great things happened, now we’ve just got to keep that going.

I’ll tell you fans one thing — you’re loud. It got so loud out there. You were definitely into it, and it was exciting and so much fun. I can’t wait to get out there on the field and do it myself.

So we’ve got the Saints up next, and I’m watching video with the rest of the team, game-planning as if I’m out there. I think they’re a great team. They’ve got some solid defensive players out there and we’ve just got to go out and play our hardest. We’ll see what happens.

Thinking about the game reminded me that one of you asked if there are certain teams I see on the schedule and think to myself that I really want to get out there and play them. That’s every game. That’s going to be every game. As soon as I get back, any opponent we’ve got I’m going to be there 100 percent, trying to do big things. I’m excited.

As far as when I’m going to get back, originally we thought it would be Week 6, but the doctor says it’s going to be a full three months. So that puts me maybe sometime around the bye — I’m not 100 percent sure.

For now I’m still just staying in my playbook and going through the motions as if I was going out there every week. It’s like I told you — I’m not going to be a rookie when I come back. I’m all moved into my apartment, everything’s put together, so now I can just relax and go through my playbook without worrying about anything. I just take this time to get my mind right and stay focused, so when that time comes I can take full advantage of it.

I’ve had a little time to relax now that I’m moved in, and I’ve been able to watch some of the other NFL games as well. Last Monday, me and a couple of rooks got together and watched the game. We just chill, relax, talk about the week, talk about what’s to come in the week and just kick it. It was pretty much all the rookies, we all try to stay together.

That’s all I’ve got for you all, but there was one other question I wanted to touch on.

I definitely feel like this is a scheme and an offense I can be successful in. I feel like I can bring a lot of different things to the team, just running between the tackles, catching the ball and blocking. I’ve got to be a team player, do my part and get the win.

That reminds me, I’m loving the running back group we’ve got right now. The guys that are playing, we’re just good team players. None of us are selfish — we play for the team and whatever’s helping out is what we’re going to do. We’ve got to keep buying into the system and keep doing great things.

We haven’t really been talking about me getting back specifically in the running back meetings, we’re just focused on week-by-week, team-by-team. When my time comes, then we’ll see what happens.

Thanks for the questions, and as always keep them coming. I better see (and hear) all of you out at the Saints game on Sunday. Let’s keep this thing going.

What is it like sitting there? woulds you say the process is like it would be if this wasn’t your rookie year?

I am talking about when you are there on the sidelines. You obviously still act as a member of the team. You may not play yet but I’d assume that. But is it talking to the veterans and getting to know them during at time like that? I mean one could assume that this would be all bad for you but for some reason I see something else. As because you are in this position, you have it to view things differently and gain a perspective from a different angle.

Do you think the injyury could actually help you in some way? Mentally?

They say that the difference of who wins the superbowl really is who is fighting to get that edge in the offseason. With that being said doesn’t this time give you an amazing oppurtunity to get your legs as strong as the can be and really have a edge when you do get your chance? When you come back it is going to be colder and everyone who is successfull year after year is the teams that can not just run the ball… but pound the rock! We are going to need to ride the T Trian all the way to Tampa. Get ready to get nasty…knock some MOFO’n helmets off! The reason I asked you about the equipment upgrades is because F it man, push comes to shove might as well have the edge. Ya know?

    Go Broncos

I wanted to also say thank you for keeping in touch with us fans, man! Super Cool!

The reason I ask about your legs is because there is a very big chance that the difference between a ring and watching the superbowl with the rook’s in your apartment is…
4th Down and 1 against the Steelers in a cold game. We run you strait downhill…we know we are running they know we running and the run a run blitz right to where you are going. Hampton gets off his block, Foote and Palamalu are coming right at you… the game is in your hands…are you going to be able to have the power, the hunger and the will to carry the team on your back and get the first down? The only way to do that is by using every day between now and when you are heathly to get as strong and as hungry and you can be. Thanl you for your time!

You are perfect for this scheme, Ryan. You just need the opportunity. Hopefully, we can make better judgments of your ability when you get back on the field. Andre Hall, Selvin Young and Michael Pittman would all benefit from your presence in the backfield.

That game was awesome…it was a great experience for the fans too. I’ve never heard it that loud (while I was there). Hopefully you guys can keep the momentum going!!!

    Thanks for the updates.

Great game!!! That’s too bad that you won’t be able to make it back sooner. My brother and I are going to the game on 10/5 and I was hoping to see you get some action. I wish I were at this past game. Tear up New Orleans!!

i think this might be a blessing in some wierd way with your injury. the way this team is playing there is a great shot that we will be making the playoffs and to have a fresh pair of legs for the second half of the season and going into the playoffs is such a huge help. you just might be that boost of energy that we need come week 9 and this will prevent you from hitting the rookie wall. if your as good and shanny says you are and with teams concerned with the passing game you could put up some huge numbers in the playoffs your first year in the league. cant beat that!!!

Good to see you get caught up in the buzz of the SD game and the home crowd. I hope the extra time gives you more time physically to heal completely so when you hit the game, there are no chances for set-backs. It will be good to add one more piece to the arsenal. It will be good to have another great tailback ready for the SD rematch too. Sweeping the AFC west would be a good thing.

Are you able to run hard and practice passing routes (w/o actually catching) and accelerating etc. or would that put too much stress and shock on your elbow? Hang tough and continued recovery.

Regardless of how the rest of the season goes, week 2 was the best game. Finally the Broncos were able to beat the Chargers. The ending had me on the edge of my seat but what a great game. Hopefully the broncos will beat the Chargers and Raiders in round 2. Also beat the Chiefs twice. It would be so great to sweep the AFC West.

    Keep the winning going!!!!!

    Heal quickly!!!!!

    Go Broncos!!!!!!!!

    Hey Ryan,
Thanks a lot for the blog, I enjoy reading it. I was wondering, what is your favorite play to run?

  14. HOGblog says:

    Hey T-Train…

Some sports writers have suggested that you’re somewhat injury prone. In HS, College, and now. We know about the ankle/foot situation in college. Are there any other injuries that you’ve had that would make you believe that you are injury prone? If so, why? Are the sports writers just idiots. One of the dudes what Mel Kiper… Im sure you saw that?

Thanks for responding to these. Love you on the Broncs dude! Come back stronger, healtier, quicker, and with an appetite for pounding the opposing defenses into submission. I love that…”All Day Baby”…that’s how I see it!

    Hey Ryan!

I was lucky enough to be at the game last week and it was electric! And even when the chargers took a 7 point lead late in the game there was not one fan at least not one around me that was worried or doubted you were going to come back and score. That’s a great feeling!! Mad confidence in you guys!! I bet you wish you could be out there but I saw what you can do and I have no doubt that you would be blowing it up with the other sick RB’s so get healthy I mean, real healthy, 110% and you will be the fresh legs we need to shock the league.

What about “A Royal with Cheese” and B-Marsh?!!? What a bright surprise in “Fast Eddie” and Shhhh B-Marsh is going to take this league by storm!

What’s Jay’s nickname? Sorry for the long reply but I can’t finish up without saying a little “wow” myself!!!!!! Keep it up Cutler, you are already turning heads around the league!

    Say sup to the rooks!

    TORAIN -

YOU BETTER BE TRAINING LIKE A MANIAC, BABY. GO PSYCHO IN THE WEIGHT ROOM. LIKE IVAN DRAGO IN ROCKY IV. GO SO HARD THAT YOUR TEAMMATES STEP UP TO ANOTHER LEVEL. THE OTHER BACKS OR OK, BUT NONE OF THEM IS A BIG TIME BONE CRUSHER. YOUR NICK NAME SHOULD BE “THE TERMINATOR” NOW THAT YOU HAVE A METAL PLATE IN YOU. TERMINATE TOP RANKED DEFENSES. IF YOU CAN LIVE UP TO THAT, YOU ARE THE REAL THING. OTHERWISE YOU’RE JUST A PRETTY BOY WITH SPEED!
