Tender Signed

April 22nd, 2008 - 3:39pm by domonique_foxworth

The most significant thing that happened was I signed my tender. It’s great, I am happy to be back with the Broncos. Just the more time you spend in the business the more you learn. The ins and outs, the good and the bad. But I am very happy to be able to spend another year — barring anything akward like a trade. I am happy I will be spending another year here in Denver — a city that I have grown to love. Colorado is a great place.

It was weird all offseason because I had a contract pending with the Broncos, it felt like I was on an episode of “Deal or No Deal.” The Broncos offered me a case and I looked around at the rest of the cases and there were no other lucrative cases, so I pressed the button last Friday. I am very happy about the decision I made and happy to be back for another year.

I am also looking forward to focusing on corner, which should allow me to make a lot more plays and return to the very talented young corner that I was before I started bouncing around and filling in for the team at safety and various other positions. I am very excited about signing some new guys, which keep me at corner and I can rekindle my corner talent.

I am excited about the return of Broncos Hockey. I will be at all those games as I am every year. I am a big fan of the equipment room staff and their hockey team. They have added some people from around the organization that aren’t coaches or players and anybody that has kept up with the blog is aware of Broncos Hockey.

I am the number one fan, Bronco Betty and Barrell Man all wrapped up into one. Go Broncos Hockey! I am looking forward to the start of their season. It is always fun to support those guys because they do a great job of supporting us throughout the season. They are kind of our unsung heros and they are there cheering for us and preparing us for every game. I go and cheer for them, I do not do any work like the equipment staff does for us, but I just cheer really hard and get in arguments with people in the stands, it is always really fun.

I went to a Green Apple Earth Day Festival that we had in Denver on Sunday. It was a big concert, it looked like about either to ten thousand people there. It was fun, I spoke there for a couple minutes. It was really just about getting down to City Park and being a part of Denver and raising awareness about living green. I was brought there by a friend mine, Marc Ross, who was a lawyer and the head of “Rock the Earth.” Which is a local non-profit that has done some innovative things to help people live green, so a shout out to “Rock the Earth” and thanks for having me.

I am looking forward to one of my friends who is getting married, well a bunch of my friends actually. I guess it is that time. I am around 25 and most of my friends are in that range from around 25-30, so it is about that time everyone starts to get married. It just seems that everybody is doing it at once. I have a ton of weddings to go to this summer, which is kinda exciting and I am in a lot of them which is also kinda exciting. I guess it is not as exciting for guys as it is for girls but I am still happy for my guys. I am in charge of at least one bachelor party so I am going to make sure we do it right and have a great time.

Two of my teammates from college have the first weddings coming up and they just seem so amazingly stressed by the wedding. It seems that weddings are a really big deal and it is not so much about the bride and groom anymore, as much as it is to make it great for everyone around. It seems like it just causes a ton of stress for the people who the weddings are for. It is kinda sad. Whenever I get married, I am trying to go to the court house, sign some papers and get it moving. Weddings are amazingly expensive and are a huge hassle with stress and pain.

Sorry to anybody who is getting married anytime soon, congratulations two thumbs up. I am aware that the new blogmaster is getting married next month, so congratulations to him and good luck with that. (Blogmaster Note: Thanks Fox) Hopefully it is not as stressful for you as it seems like it is for all my friends who are getting married around this time. I don’t know if getting married is … well getting married is scary. I dont know if the process of leading up to it is more intimidating to me than actually doing it.

Anyway, don’t worry women 18-35, I am not getting married anytime soon, so dont shed any tears. Anyway, weddings are cool. Can’t wait to wear tuxedos, bow ties, and all that stuff and do the electric slide at the reception. That is always my favorite part, you get to see your friends and family get a little sauced up and make some poor decisions on the dance floor. I don’t drink, so I am always the one that reminds all my friends and family later of the fools they made of themselves. I do look forward to that at weddings.

The draft is coming up, I know it is an exciting time for the fans. I have not watched it since I was in it and I did not watch it that much then. I don’t know, they are out there looking for our replacements. That is just as frank as I can be, that is the nature of the league. Every year, every week, and every month they are looking for somebody who can do your job better for cheaper. It is a business, it is sad, but it is what it is.

The draft is exciting to see a lot of young guys reach their dreams and I get a little nostalgic every now and then. I might break out the draft video when I heard my name called. It is a great time for those guys and a great time to build. A momentum for teams going into the season and everybody has a lot of confidence and faith around draft time. I am looking forward to when we start playing games for real. I think we have a very talented team, slightly underrated and looking forward to sneaking up on some people for once.

I am looking forward to the Boys and Girls Club Gala which is on May 2. May is a big month for the Boys and Girls club in Denver, or the Broncos branch. We have the gala and also D-Will’s statue is going to be unveiled at the Boys and Girls club and the Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center is opening this May. I am looking forward to being at all of those things. I can’t wait!

I am really proud of what we have been able to accomplish in the wake of a tragedy. I talked to Darrent’s family recently, there is a big parade and celebration coming up on June 15 — I believe — that is going to be down in Texas. I am going to try and make it, but I actually have something planned on that day. So I will see if I can move some things around and be able to make it down there because it is something I would like to be a part of.

The NBA playoffs are going on. I am a Nuggets fan, so I have been watching and rooting for them. It was tough to see the first loss, but looking forward for them to bounce back soon. I have a friend that plays for the Wizards, so I have been watching those games as well. They have been kinda painful, but I root for the Wiz also, but at the same time it is hard to root against King (Lebron) James. I love watching him play. Playoff time in all sports is always an exciting time, go Nuggets and go Avs.

Finally, I received a letter from someone who is a member of the blog nation, David Price (sp) from Cleveland, England in the UK. It is pretty cool to get a letter from that far away. I was actually born in England, thanks to the United States Military who had my dad stationed over there when I was born. I would just like to thank David for writing me. It is always a shock and makes you feel somewhat insignificant when you realize how large the world is and how far reaching the blog is. So once again David, thanks for your support and thanks for all the letters I do receive.

All Ready!

    Hey Dom

Its great to know you will be with us at least one more year, when I heard the news I counldn’t have been happier. Also good to know you are putting your focus on corner again. Definetly agree with you on the waiting on marriage, right on. Well man i’ll keep it short, great to have you with us still, and I hope this isnt the last time we speak, and remember you’ll be doing the picking off this season….

    A BIG FAN
    -Dave

  2. tjames238 says:

It’s good to have you for another year Dom. I’ve been reading where fans want to trade you because your not a good tackler. I’m like dude has been playing safety for the last several years. You have to be able to tackle back there. HATERS Dom HATERS are everywhere. Just shake em off and do ya thang at corner this year.

  3. Geandily says:

FOXXXXXXXY!!!!!! Great to have you back!

  4. berlownacyo7s says:

Great news to hear that you are coming back. It’s funny to read around the forums and see that some people would rather see you traded for a 3rd round pick, then they go on to say that the Broncos should only bring in guys who have good charactre. At that point I just laugh to myself, because there is no way we could find another person who has as great of an attitude as you. Hopefully the Broncos organization realizes how much of an asset you are to the team and resigns you to a more lucradive, long-term deal. I would much rather see you starting opposite Champ than Dre Bly, becuase you have more upside in the long run. But I realize that every person has their own opinion about those kind of things, but just know you will always have me rooting for you.

  5. 2champ4 says:

I’m happy you will be here for another year, but I won’t be satisfied until you sign a multi-year contract to stay in Denver for many years.

  6. topscribe says:

I held my breath for you, Foxy, hoping you would don the orange & blue this year. You’re ready to take over that spot beside Champ, so take it over! You’re bigger and faster than the other guy, and you are better against the run.

Claim the spot this year, Foxy. It’s rightfully yours!

  7. Lakeraholic says:

    Great to have you back!

  8. letdamansmoke says:

I agree w/everyone on here…Great to have u back!! I know dre’ is one of the better corners in the league, but i know that if u would’ve been startin db last season we would’ve won more than 7 games. (Greg Jennings wouldn’t have blown past u in that O.T. lost to Green Bay just to name 1) UR the better all-around corner, he’s just got u on the hands. Next years ur time to shine. Look forward to ur next blog.

  9. LYNCHisOUTtoGETyou says:

Fox, I’m soooooooo glad you re-signed. I think, if it’s even possible, you are respected even more by the Broncos fans for signing the tender. I hope you have a great season, enjoy the draft and do us fans proud!

    ALL READY!

  10. imready says:

Glad to have you back Fox, gives the Broncos talent and depth at cornerback. This is a team sport and it’s so important to not lose a step when players rotate in and out of the lineup. Just look at the Nuggets, they wouldn’t had made the playoffs if it wasn’t for the play of LK, Eddie and JR Smith. Hopefully we will have talent and depth at some other positions too this coming season.
Don’t wait too long to get married Fox, I you find the right girl don’t hesitate to pull the trigger, if you don’t, somebody else will and you’ll just get the leftovers. :)
We are not getting enough blog Fox, we are feeling unloved here. Tell them to give us some love, I mean more blog please!

  11. grantw8 says:

I was really excited to hear your coming back! Hopefully we can get you back for several more years after this… I’m looking forward to an excitiing year out of the Defense. Also, I think its awesome that you choose not to drink. Keep blogging!

  12. jazzyfrizzle says:

hey fox, right on to staying in orange and blue. All the real broncos fans know that you are the man to start with champ. I am 24 in about two weeks and I just got married last year. What happened with that girlfriend you talked about in past blogs? You guys still together or are you still waitin for the right one? You the man fox!

  13. sivocb24 says:

YEA FOX !!!! I am so happy you are back for atleast another year(hope there are no trades on draft day involving you). I just got back from a wedding…not formal but my cousin got married in Las Vegas in early april (boring for me). I went to the strip and saw the Bellagio and some guy that worked there said Champ stayed there so that was a fun fact.I was wearing my Champ jersey that’s why he told me haha. Yea Fox throw your boy a bangin bachelor party haha.
“don’t worry women 18-35, I am not getting married anytime soon, so dont shed any tears”
    hahahahaha
Nuggets fan aye……My Celtics are alright hahaha. I can’t wait for game 2. The Nuggets are my favorite team in the west though……
Hopefully you can get a long term deal next off season but for now I thank GOD and your agent along with Shanny that you are still with us.

  14. JAZZYFRIZZLE says:

It’s so nice to have you back, Fox. Late.

  17. shilly88 says:

whats up dom? Good to hear from you. its been a long time wondering and hoping that you would be with the broncos. I was very happy that you signed. We need your play and character on this team!! Well, hope to hear more from you more often, looks like you have a busy summer and spring though. Peace.

    Shill-

  18. boldbronco69 says:

hey Dom, nice to see you back for another season with the Broncos. I trully beleive you are an asset to the Broncos, but your comment about Deal Or No Deal concerns me. You looked for another case that might hold a more lucrative offer? What about the case that offers you stability and love. Look at Tony Gwyn of the San Diego Padres, He could have gone to another team that would have been more Lucrative to him but, he stayed with the team he beleived in. Are you only in it for the money or the team? You just make it sound as if, since there were not any better(cases), offers out there, i’ll just stay with the Broncos. I love what you do on and off the field but, don’t do us, Bronco Fans any favors by hanging around if your still looking for another Lucrative case.

  19. fit4denver says:

    Fox,

I would like you to pass a message on to Rod Smith. I love his dedication and heart. I will miss seeing Rod make those clutch pass catches and stoking the team on the sidelines. I just purchased a Rod Smith #80 jersey. I will wear it as a sign of respect and honor for a great player and a very good man.

    Respectfully, Jim Kennedy

  20. ncheel2 says:

Boldbronco69, get a life. Have you read the news lately. This is a business. The broncos had this players name in the news talking trade, without telling him about it, and the deal fell through. Players have to take care of themselves, because this is a business. Wanting to play with a team is good, but at the same time there is a business sense-cents about it. The broncos only offered him a tender, so did they do good faith. Not really, they took the least possible route to keep him here. At your job are you second place? IF so then that is loser mentality. I would want to play-start, and get paid doing so. So if one team doesn’t want to allow me more playing time so I can show my skills to be a starter, I go where I can. There are many guys that are just glad to make it to the NFL. Fox doesn’t seem that type of player. He seems to have bigger goals, and any player that wants to pursue his dream should. Its unfortunate the broncos can’t see excellent talent. Fox’s value is high, that is why they were trying to trade to Detroit, becasuse they get value for value. So playing for a good team is great; playing for a team that really wants you and wants to play you is priceless. Charles1

  21. Broncfalls says:

    FOX! FOX! FOXXXX!!!!

I tried to think up some original but couldn’t onlY come up with “DAMN GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK BOY!!!”

Our corners are all great players. FOX, I believe in you! I love CHAMP AND DRE! all 3 of you should be amazing out there. The important thing is you’re here and now you can get a ring!!!

p.s. Fox, be careful during those bachelor parties. Please be careful, and don’t be stupid! I don’t want to see my stud corner on U TUBE wearing a bikini, whispering sweet nothings into an ear of something from Star Trek!!! Come on’ you know what I’m talking about. Brother got game but could all go away with one to many drinks…..have a blast and best wishes of saftety for you and all your friends.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!!

  22. romeyinfc says:

Great news! Glad that you’ll still be with the team!

  23. stephanie_hollis says:

WOO HOO AFC West wideouts are all cheering today, they will get to burn you all season. There was a reason nobody wanted you on their team! I can’t wait til you are out of here, you have to be at the bottom of the depth chart.

  24. 4everBroncos says:

Dom so glad you’re hear for another year. Lets work on that longterm contract before next year. The draft can be exciting. This year I hope to see us pickup the personnel to train for the OL and DL. We know we will be losing some of them up front from age or injury. We could also pickup a fast DE to get that pressure on the QB we need. All this can be exciting to get the Broncos back on track to bring us another Championship. You will be an integral part in that Championship.

  25. #80fan says:

glad to have you back for another year! go broncos

  26. ramboskithefan says:

fox its great to hear your coming back to play!! that gives us at least 3 good great corners…Champ,Pay,Fox…and an alright one in Dre…jplayin..but anyways…thanks for all your hard work with the boys and girls club…and the dwill statue!! great luck this year…i got a feeling everybody is choose us to be last or second to last this year…i think u guys got sumthin for them!!

  27. BLWWbroncos says:

    Foxy,
Im sooooo glad you are back in the Orange & Blue! I dont know what Id do if you left us? I cant wait for the season to start. I need to see some football.

Glad everything is going great with you and hope you have a good time at all your weddings, and opening up the D-Will center!

    Ashley

  28. Broncfalls says:

    stephanie_hollis,

WOW! having trouble paying the rent this month?

Lighten up, and please for the love of God! come up with a better screen name rather than a name with an underscore in it.

Come on, you can do it! I know you can……it don’t have to be award winning material, just something with a little zip in it….

I mean look here’s what it looks like as you read to name a few:

    fit4denver
    #80fan
    boldbronco69
    IPICKEDYOUOFF
    –even JAZZYFRIZZLE has character

    then you come on with
    stephanie_hollis

Work on that and get back to us…you can be a hater just change your screen name that’s all.

  29. SGT_G1983 says:

Hey Fox! Glad that you are going to be in Denver for another season. You truly do have amazing talent as a corner. Where were you born in England? I’m in the Army….been stationed in the UK for about a year now. Not a bad place. Keep up the great blogs.

  30. emaldo says:

stephanie_hollis….get outta here….go to the the Raiders fan site and hate yourself there, they do a real good job of doin that….
look let’s all face it Bailey could probably play another 4-5 years and go to the pro-bowl ea. time, Bly is gonna fill the other side for awhile to….why not keep Fox, sign him to a long term deal and keep our secondary great for years to come, we need to keep Paymah to….we’re always cryin bout our d-line and look who we’ve had on our teams Bertrand Berry, Reggie Hayward and even Trevor Pryce, common denominator is we’ve got rid of all of them and they have all went on to do real good….if we would have kept these guys our d-line would never have been a question….lets not make the same mistake with the secondary….when you have a good one do what it takes to keep them there, build some consitency you know…I for one am real glad we’re keepin Fox, hopefully Fox next year we give you what you need to stay on here and make a career in Denver….

here is the deal staying with the team that drafted you IMO keeps up your longevity in the league . people that chase the gold at the end of the rainbow don’t last .

When you go for big money it usaly blows up in your face . how many player have you seen that cash in and really last that are okay players . they don’t .

two player that fit with there teams that did not last Alvin Harper and Brown …

thae list of players that would of made more money just staying with there team is huge.

Clinton Portis would of made huge money with the Broncos because of production but because of his greed is now in a system that will not get him a pay raise any time soon he was cashing that pot of gold it cost him If he were a Bronco today there would be talk of the HOF . He is not that kind of back with the Redskins I would say he is just at best a average RB there .

so to end this some times there is a reason a team drafts you and if you fit in you should hang on and prove you’r worth .

Foxworth you are a great guy glad you are on the Broncos

I think the broncos will be ok this year. One thing the leaders will have to do is to gain the trust of players back. There are some ownership, leadership and coaching stuff that is in the way of running a great team. WHen you get rid of a GM, a player that won 58% of your games last year when you won only 4, and two wins were won in last seconds by JE, let loyal employees go with last minute notices, and questionable relations with current players, and what you have is a team with lots of questions. If their is no showing of respect for players from leaders of this team, this team will perform avearage at best again. So with class players as Humza, Fox Lynch, Champ and others, yes they will have to set examples again, but the leadership has a big role in addressing cohesion issues also. When I look at my workplace, if don’t like my leaders I don’t perform for them. If you relate this to the broncos, there were 3-4 games that this team could have and should have won last year, but did not. This is a direct reflection of not “feeling” your leaders ability to lead and how they coach the game. So if I’m in mode at my job, I wait until a good leader comes in, and get by by doing enough to do so, or I attempt to get out, because it is not fun anymore. The leaders names I mentioned above are great folks and will help others from not getting this type of attidude. But who will get the coaches attitude, primarily shanny? Us fans can’t because bowlen likes what is going on also as trend indicates: 13-3 (05), 9-7 (06), 7-9 (07), ???? (08). Charles1

Anyway, I hope your well. I’m really looking forward to the Teen Center opening. Please, when you talk to Mom Williams and the family again please tell her that they are still in our prayers. I think about her often and I just pray she is doing ok.

Thanks for the blog entry. I can breathe a sigh of relief now….(minus the whole chicken bone lodged in my throat.)

Lots of off season aquisitions and ryan clady and eddie royal. Im still hoping shanahan takes jamaal charles but anyways good to hear your staying with the team for one more year i dont think a third round pick for you was enough anyways maybe a second you know you got alot of upside. I for some reason kept remembering a corner the denver broncos took in the second round about 3 years ago he was 5” 8′ and man could he play two ints his first season and 4 the next two agaist sandiego, man i miss that guy!!! I guess i remembered d-will because of eddie royal hes a small guy and i couldnt help but just remember d-will size wise. hope you can come in and start to make a bigger impact.

    allready!!!

p.s. man i dunno if it was the camera but it looked like you have a huge head no offense

  41. b4life says:

nope that wasnt you my bad, DID AL WILSON RETIRE??????

  42. Dave888259 says:

Sweet Jeebus, yes! I’ve been waiting to hear this. All the more exciting because you’ll be focusing on CB again. Glad to have you, and I hope the Broncos can get a longer-term deal worked out with you during the season.

  43. lomaxgr says:

    Yo Fox!

I believe you were actually born in Oxford, England, right? I was too! A little town called Wantage. My family was also down there due to my Dads work commitments, but we moved back to Manchester about 3 months after I was born. You should come back some time – the weather is terrible, but us English know how to have fun!

  44. ncheel2 says:

Good to see the bronx draft focused on getting the offense in gear, to take some prssure off the defense. The defense ranked 19 last year and the offense waas 30, so Jay having some growth, protection, and making better decisions will bid well. Robertson should work out (I have we keep getting folks with conditions-his knees) but he’s been consistent for 5 years. Wtih the growth of the DT/DEs from last year, the strength of the LBs, and a solid secondary, the team should get into the playoff. Now is coaches will step up and show the players they care, have passion for the game and stop being so predictable on offense, the team should move.

Oh Congratulations, Big Guy! I knew you’d be back. I am so amazed how many times you’ve posted since the season has past. Although, if I could get a bizillion people to read what I had to say, I’d get a little addicted too. Keep ‘em coming.
I can’t lie, I enjoy reading more about your lovely lady’s brother’s Guitar Hero challenges (say that 5 times fast), your charity work, and your aggressive wedding schedule than football. I shouldn’t say that too loud, huh?
Weddings. I do love weddings. Um yeah, I’ve been that dodo on the dance floor, which is reminded the next day of some ridiculously dangerous dance moves she performed the night before. But, I’ve been told that even if I didn’t throw booze at my face. At the last wedding I attended I met the squaw of one of the Avs. We skied together one day because all our friends are pro skiers, and we are mere grasshoppers. She’s a chemical engineer, and so I had an immediate girl crush on her, because I am an electrical engineer. You don’t meet many girls like us. I hope she’s doing ok, because they’ve lost the first two against Detroit. There’s nothing you can say to a man when his team is losing. Nothin’. Anyhow, go engineering mamas and go Avs!
I think my favorite part of this blog, Dom, was your expressed love for Colorado. I love this place. It’s beautiful and is full of beautiful people. I’ve lived here all my life, except for that time I moved to Arkansas for a few years with my high school boyfriend. What the… I hope everyone is doing well. Mwa!

Dom, in my opinion you are the face of the franchise that is just kinda floating behind the scenes. You don’t bring all the flash and attention to yourself. But yet, you still make an impact on the field and community. I applaud you for that. I am really happy for you and the fact that you’ll be with the Broncos for at least one more season. Hopefully the Broncos realize what they have with you and re-sign you to a multi-year deal soon. I would hate to see you leave and go to a different team. Nothing against Dre Bly, but I really think you’ll win that spot over him and play opposite Champ. Anyone who says you can’t tackle must be someone who has never ACTUALLY played football before. You’re in the NFL, obviously you can tackle. Don’t listen to anyone of the detractors and just keep doing what you’re doing. You’ve stepped in at other positions when the team has asked you too, and done pretty well in my opinion.

P.S: Thank you for writing your blog. I don’t always leave a comment, but I do make sure and read everytime you post something new! Thanks again for all you do for the Broncos on and off the field!
