Report: Koutouvides Agrees to Terms

March 3rd, 2008 - 10:44am by Andrew

ESPN.com reported Monday morning that the Broncos had come to terms with linebacker Niko Koutouvides, who spent the last four years with the Seattle Seahawks.

Monday afternoon, the Broncos announced that Koutouvides had signed his contract.  The Broncos also announced the signing of Keary Colbert and the re-signing of defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban; both had first been reported in the media Saturday.

The Purdue product, who turns 27 on March 25, primarily handled special-teams duties for the Seahawks throughout the last four years. He started three games during the 2004 campaign — two in the regular season and one in the playoffs.

Over his four years as a Seahawk, Koutouvides had 89 solo tackles, 22 assists and a sack.

    m.c. the great,
If you really want to become a chief boatswain’s mate, you need to use #$^% or a variation of it at least every 3rd word. Until then, you’re stictly 3rd class.

    GreekBronco9,

Have you ever seen a 3rd or 4th year non starter become a significant player in the NFL? It happens on every team in the league. I think alot of these naysayers are listening to Johnny Denver music instead of watching football. VegasBronco42 do you get it?

i cant wait to see javon come back to denver in a raider jersey. john lynch gonna light his a$$ up!!

  4. broncos20 says:

we need a good draft,,,definitely address DT and OL,,then get a burner receiver if not in the FA den early in the draft,,,,den maybe we can concentrate on adding depth to secondary (esp. safety)…

reports,,Denver is really leaning on signing Boss to be strong-side linebacker,,and safety McGree is visiting the Broncos too,,,choosing b/w
    buffalo or denver..

  5. Dr. Doom says:

I can’t believe Walker. That no good piece of crap. He’s Definately not gonna have a fun time when he comes back to Denver.

  6. m.c. the great says:

Honestly Champ cant cover Walker, but every time i looked at a video clip of training camp it was cutler to walker deep behind champ bailey. Maybe i just saw the anomaly any one who attended the camps tell me if im right or wrong on that. Does any one know why we dont play press coverage EVER, even in the damn redzone. Thats why dre looked so bad he has no control or idea of what a wide outs gona do, he’s always been a press aggresive guy, then we bring him here and say “see how champ reads what the receiver is gona do while playin 10 yards of…. do that.” And i think it would help the D-line out alot in gettin to the QB if those few split seconds a press coverage can give where part of our strategy .

And I said he just chased the ball, because thats all a line backers job is, find who has the ball and hit his ass, its not heart surgery, and a line backer cant do that if some one is infront of maulin their ass down the feild. And im just statin facts DJ’s had a pro body comin out of high school 18 years old, even your top teir players need the college workout program, and at least a year of a pro work out to get what dj had at 18. Maybe i didnt make myself clear, he still has alot of potential that hasnt been utilized. I mean arnt we all just waitin for “Dj to have that break out year”

im not gona talk sh@t to others on a blog………… but i will say this

    TRADE UP FOR DORSEY!!!!!!!!!!!……
    PLAY MORE PRESS COVERAGE

  7. BroncoBoy2012 says:

I honestly don’t think we need to trade up. At the 12th spot Keith Rivers will be there. Then in the 2nd round we can get this big @$$ kid Pat Sims from Auburn. He is a top 5 DT who will drop the the 2nd round and he’s a B-I-G kid who can help clog the middle with Marcus Thomas. They can gain some knowledge from Gerard Warren. Some of the better zone-blockers are not quite as good but decent AND will be available in later rounds.
m.c. the great didn’t D.J. just have a breakout year? I mean did you bother to look at his freaking beastly stats. he had 141 tackles, 1 sack (not impressive) and 1 INT. Unless Denver gets 11 beastly players on defense he’ll be posting 100+ tackle seasons for the rest of his career.

  8. BroncoBoy2012 says:

my bad, forgot Gerard Warren was traded. oops.

  9. broncos20 says:

i agree we really need a DT like Dorsey,,,but we shouldnt get too hasty,,we still have Pat Burns, Dre’ Moore, Kentwan Balmer,,who might go in the second round,,,by the way the Broncos are signing LBs,,it looks like they might actually go for a OT in the first round,,,,but i would definitely understand why they would address the line early,,,Cutlers taken too many hits this season,,and took a close call in Detroit (couldve been out all season,,but the guy is TOUGH)……so a top 5 tackle wouldnt hurt,,,if Cutler is given the time,,him and Marshall (hoepfully Bryant) would be a defensive coordinators wost nightmare..
however,,,,if it was me,,,i wouldnt pass up a guy like Rivers,,,
again i say,,We need a BURNER!!!!someone not afraid to go deep and fight for the ball,,,some one like Daxter Jackson,,idk,,i havent seen other videos of this class’ widereceivers…

    Monahand,

They will all see the big picture reeeaaal soon!!

  11. Denvers Napoleon says:

    Monahand,

    I second that. Great Post!

  12. tomnalen36 says:

Thomas was tested for coke and was clean the, it was the drivers coke thomas is clean so he got a break. We need boss on the strong side and DJ can back to the weak side were he started his career and shined…before we resigned Gold from Tampa…now we need a MLB…Al wilson reunion or a rookie spark…Keary Colbert might be able to focus hear in Denver cause all his beer will freeze and break unlike Carolina thus producing a #2 receiver like season.

  13. samparnell says:

If a large DT who takes up blockers is what the Broncos need, then I wonder in what rounds Frank Okam and Red Bryant would be available? Not having a third is a problem. Is Kenny Phillips a reach at #12? Would he be available in the second round? In the first round taking the best player regardless of position is a must. You definitely don’t want to pay a player 1st round money if he isn’t bona fide 1st round talent. When the Broncos turn comes at #12 they will have the option of addressing several positions. OT? LB? (Probably not with the moves they’re making right now) DL? (Depends on who’s left) WR (maybe, although I’m not sold on Desean Jackson) S? CB? Definitely not QB, RB, TE. FB is needed, but probably available in later rounds.

  14. ramboskithefan says:

i heard that lavarnus coles and Kerry Roads of the jets are mad they didnt get better deals…..we should go for Roads at least he is a beast a trade with him to help jets save cap room would be sick…we would have to pay alot for him but he is young and not even in his prime yet and he is a probowler

  15. m.c. the great says:

Some of yall sound like cult prophets (if there is such a thing)

But any way Yes Safety in the first round is a reach phillips will be there in the second round i dont think any one is that desprate for a safety to grab one in the first. and if the savior to the D isnt available by trade (Glen dorsey of course) then gettin branden albert would be a great pick, i know mike dosnt like big Oline men but this guy is a special package. And why is there so much hype about Deseasn jackson. Ive seen him in mock drafts every where bein picked in the top 20. saying he’s could be the next hester, WRONG hester is 205 pounds he can break tackles the few times deffenders get close enough to touch him. What the hell will jackson break at 165 other than his own ribs. The late Darrent williams would make a punchin bag out of him he’s got the build of an 8th grader. and wouldnt that give us 3 slot receivers, thats a position that you want alot of depth and money invested into…… but if TRADE UP FOR DORSEY we dont have to worry about that

  16. samparnell says:

    m.c. the great,
I agree w/you about Branden Albert. He can really move and can probably play tackle as well as guard. However, if you want to take an OL in the 1st round, why not a tackle? Some seem to think Clady. What do you think it would take to trade up for Glen Dorsey? The Broncos need to guard their draft choices. They need to go on a major youth movement and get players they can coach and mold into their own team. If trading up for Dorsey would mean giving up Domonique Foxworth or a bunch of other darft choices, I would be skeptical.
