Relaxing With My Mind on Football

October 12th, 2011 - 4:34pm by Rahim Moore

I want to say to the fans, I love you, and I’m headed home to see my family and all my boys.

You can tell I’m excited.

I’m just going to go home and spend some time with the family, just chill out and see my little cousins and everybody. It will be nice to get some down time, but also think about how I can improve and finish strong the rest of the season.

Of course it’s good to relax, but I’m also going to go back to my high school. I do that once a year. It gives me motivation. It lets me know how hard I worked to get here. If I can make it through there, I can make it through here.

One thing about the bye week, it’s a bye week, but you can’t be bye bye from football. You’ve still got to keep working and have football in your mind.

Catch up with you next week.

  8. strandoftds says:

    Rewarding.

  9. Orange27CRUSHER says:

Everyone is trying to “honor” Al Davis and say all of these nice things about the guy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!? The guy was a total JERK (for lack of saying what I REALLY want to)!!!

He screwed Mike Shanahan! He never did anything for Denver and the Broncos – obviously, he was the RIVAL!!! The only thing I wanted him to do was to stay ALIVE to KEEP the RAIDER DOWN!!!

I get that you don’t speak ill of the dead – but like Hitler I have no LOVE LOSS for AL!!! BURN IN HELL!!!

  10. royalbroncofan1 says:

Enjoy your time off Rahim the Dream… and while you’re at In-n-Out, pick up a “double double” for me… lol!

    Go Broncos!!!

  11. daddybronc says:

I really like Orton as a back-up. If he can really work to support Tebow and forget starting – he could make some money in coaching. Kubiak anyone? Maybe not.

I think we’ll pretty much know what we have in Tebow within the next two weeks. For me … I couldn’t care less if he wins. Tebow stirs up some of the most entertaining football I’ve ever seen in 40 year of being a fan. Against Miami – Tebow should win. Orton probably would have won. Don’t think they ought to throw all the wide outs at Tebow in first start. Might over complicate things. I’d love to see a blow-out that has the game won before the half.

What a thing of beauty it will be if Tebow can beat the 6 and 0 lions. If that 4th quarter thing (against SD) shows up for four quarters. Wow! we have us a season and Fox will get down on his knees and publicly apologize to the fans for installing Orton and making us endure 4.5 games.

  12. Orange_Crusher says:

wow man, I would never say for someone to burn in heck like that dude…

I expect a little more class from my offspring….

Let the man rest in peace…

  13. Orange_Crusher says:

I like what sndvl says at 5:54pm!!!

  14. baylinorcrush says:

    Yeah that was pretty disturbing.

  15. samurai713 says:

rude much? Well the season starts in Miami, hopefully we can win and move up the polls, if we blow em out with style points we may get more voters…BCS here we come! I am excited now, maybe the organization is willing to do what it takes to rebuild after all, yes we want to win, but we are trying to right wrongs here.

  16. sndvl says:

Maybe this guy is worthy? (Technically he is. I meant of a 1st round pick!)

    Jerel Worthy, Michigan State

Worthy, a 310-pound junior, wore No. 95 against Notre Dame to honor Michigan State great Bubba Smith, who died this past summer. Worthy is still playing inspired football for the country’s No. 1 overall defense, totaling 10 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery during the No. 23 Spartans’ 4-1 start.

  17. BeastFromEast92 says:

WOW,a lot of guys have been tearing and spraining pectoral muscles!

  18. BeastFromEast92 says:

caramelloo, don’t rub it in too bad dude,UT vs LSU Saturday, after all UT’s starting QB has a broken thumb on his throwing hand(out 6 weeks)and top WR is lost for the season, torn ACL.

  19. Ty-one-on says:

Right back at you Rahim. I also loved your attitude about that interception you made. As you felt, it was good but winning is better, I agree Bud. That’s where it’s at.

Have a good time at home and come back ready to kick some ass !

  20. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

    BFE –

That wont even be a game. The Honey Badger will tear into some Vols.

LSU #1. Between Mets and Broncos recent seasons…at least I have some hope in LSU!

  21. strandoftds says:

I feel bad for Jared Crick. I know that he was projevted as the #1 DT/DE. Major bummer.

  22. strandoftds says:

Thats going to far. Al Davis is no mass murderer. A jerk at times but to put Hitler and Al in the same catagory is way off base. Yeah I can`t stand the raiders or Al, but to want someone to go to that awful place is bad in itself. Shame on you.

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

I had no love for Al Davis either, but c’mon man the guy is a human just like we are,I’ve had some bad words for certain people too,but the dead can’t defend themselves!…R.I.P.

  24. casinoroyal19 says:

Does anyone else think that if our D becomes what we all think it can, that Coach Allen could be our HC of the future? I like this guy a lot, and, personally, I dont see Fox as a long term.

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

cody…that’s what they said last year too bro,and UT almost and should have won!!!

  26. stevecan2 says:

d allen first has to prove to me that he can game plan to stop the pass. as a former secondary coach of a weak secondary in new orleans, I am still waiting. but looking at the improvement on the d with so many devastating injuries I am very hopeful that he will.

the crick injury is a shame. nebraska will definitely miss his play.

  27. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Also not a big Al Davis fan but I know to never speak ill of the dead. And from what I heard he did alot to progress the AFL and the NFL and Sabotaged the Raiders which helped us lol … but seriously RIP man.

For those who don’t know, Tebow is a nominee for never say never on NFL.com for his performance on Sunday.

Sndvl, those are the 2 DTs ive heard of … Crick and Worthy … either will be fine. Im sure we will be better able to disect come next offseason. DT is definitely a must tho after passing up on some 2nd round talent as good as first rounders this year.

Pectorial tear seems to be very common with linemen nowadays. TRB

  28. true2broncos says:

    Orange27CRUSHER,

Pretty candid of you to say that! I have to agree with you Al Davis was a plague to society and the NFL!

Plus the fact that he really hurt my favorite coach Mike Shanahan by not paying him his contracted money put “Al” in my bad person book!

HOWEVER, it seems strange to hear someone like BOOMER speak so highly of him and point out some of his strength and contributions to the game . . . like drafting a punter “Rey Guy” and a kicker like SeaBASS and how the actually paid off big in the end.

I agree AL was not someone I think of as a good person or even a sane person at times for that matter!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  29. true2broncos says:

Here’s some class-sick Hitler for you!!! From when my BSU BRONCOS lost to NEVADA!!! LOL

  30. Tebowtime2011 says:

Don’t worry on your days off enjoy the time.

When you come back be like Steve Atwater and hey forget the penalties just hit hard it isn’t your fault that Roger Goodell is making the NFL wimpy. Hit like you did in College you will be good.

  31. stevecan2 says:

I work worth someone that used to be a top accountant for the raiders. she told me that al davis was an a. when they lost and a pleasure when they won. overall she had nothing all that great to say about him. I wont and can’t judge the man personally as no one else that did not know him should either. in a professional setting people are different.

  32. killerkod says:

    Good Morning Bronco Nation!

Man, it sux not having broncos football this weekend. But I guess everyone needs a break.

Do you think this trip to Miami might further spark interest in a deal to send Orton to the fins? Does anyone feel he’ll be traded out of Denver after all before the deadline? I understand he doesn’t have much value right now after sucking for so long and now being benched. But there might be a team out there, like the fins, who are desperate.

  33. henryac says:

KK, just think, as bad as Orton played in Denver, there are a couple of other teams who actually had QB’s who were playing worse! There are also a couple of teams with no backup if anything happens. Orton can’t carry a team by himself but he might be able to hold a team together long enough for the starter to get back and that may give him some trade value. He has to know now he will never again get starting money so he needs to be ready to do whatever the job calls for or he may end up in coaching sooner rather than later, but that hasn’t worked out too bad for Harbaugh or Kubiak. To that, though, Orton will have to grow a personality somehow!

  34. killerkod says:

    yah, I agree henry………

But how does a piece of wood grow a personality? LOL

  35. baylinorcrush says:

First Rahim is a coverage safety, never been known to lay the wood, but somehow because of that one hit as a Bronco on the sideline, everyone thinks he made a living of it in college, did not, Carter did, but can’t cover worth a darn. Blend the two and you got yourself a great safety.

Second about Orton trade value, unless a team offers him about 3 and 3/4 mil for the rest of the season he will stay put.

    Here is the reason why:

He has an 8.9 mil contact for this year.

5.5 mil of it is guaranteed.

He has played 5 games of a 16 game season meaning the Broncos owe him roughly 1.72 mil at the minimum.

Meaning if someone wants him at the very least they would have to offer him the difference to his 5.5 guarantee, 3.78 mil.

And no one will do that.

So Orton hopes they won’t trade him and he makes his 8.9 mil on the bench here.

So the only way will be to flat cut him so Bowlen can save at least 3.4 mil.

Unless he wants a 3.4 mil spare tire and that would be insane since he has a $700,000 one in Quinn, and as far as cahnces of winning there is no significant difference between Quinn and Orton.

So there is only one thing to do when the Orton trading efforts all fall short once again by the 18th deadline, cut the man before the Miami game and save at least 3.4 mil.

Of course all those figure can be off here and there since I’m on the outside looking in, but the general picture remains the same, Orton should be cut sometime late next week. Anything else, once again, would make no sense at all to me. Yeah a trade if we find a team stupid enough or desperate enough, but come on this is the NFL, no one is that stupid, right? Try trading him and cut him when it fails, end of the Orton saga once and for all.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

And Klis helps me further make my point without actually saying so that Orton absolutely needs to be either traded or cut before next game:

It’s not so much weird that Kyle Orton is not the Broncos’ starting quarterback as it’s awkward to see him in the front line leading the team stretch as a team captain and backup quarterback.

It caused me to reflect on a conversation I had in 1999 with then-Rockies manager Jim Leyland about leadership.

“You got to be careful about that leader stuff,” Leyland said then. “What happens if your ‘leader’ is in a slump? Now your leader is sulking. Do you want your team following the leader then?”

In Orton, the Broncos now have a captain who has been demoted. He can say all the right things, but truth is, the Broncos now have an unhappy leader.

  37. henryac says:

The other side of that, Bay, is Orton is at the beginning of his audition for his next job. If he doesn’t do everything he can to help his team under these circumstances, nobody will even look his way until next year at the earliest at any price. So, he is caught on the horns of a dilemma, either suck it up and do what he can to save his career or decide what he wants to do after football.

  38. brian_schneider says:

Orton’s attitude towards football is “just another job.” I don’t think he’ll have a problem retiring although I’m sure someone is looking for a stop gap QB.

  39. brian_schneider says:

Or at least a veteran backup

  40. baylinorcrush says:

Woody shining a light on why it may have taken so long for Elway and Fox to finally understand what many of us knew all along, that the best thing to do for the Broncos long term range plans was to start Tebow:

Now, I’m going to call out John Elway. After he retired, he was looking at tape of college players with his dad Jack, one of the best evaluators of talent in the NFL at the time. Elway didn’t like a certain college quarterback because he was too short and didn’t fit the mold of a prototype quarterback, as John himself obviously did. His dad Jack said you couldn’t measure the heart of a man, and he loved the kid quarterback. That kid quarterback was Drew Brees. All he did was win a Super Bowl and become one of the best QBs in the game.

That kind of bothers me about John. I don’t think he’s measuring the heart of Tebow. When Hoge looks at tape of Tebow, he’s not talking to him. He’s not looking inside him. Dilfer was a pretty lousy quarterback in the NFL until he got with Baltimore, which had a great defense, and won a Super Bowl. He should know better. Steve Young says give Tebow a chance. Young should know. Few people liked him when he came to the NFL, and he stunk up the joint in Tampa Bay. In fact, John Fox didn’t care much for Steve Young when Fox as a defensive coach and Young was the quarterback with the old USFL team in Los Angeles.

  41. strandoftds says:

Bay, very interesting to know on your last post. Neat stuff.

  42. strandoftds says:

I haven`t gotten to the DP yet this morning.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

My feeling as I’ve been saying for a while is Orton will rather retire than going through all this again, because it’s a recurring theme with him, both in Chicago and in Denver, many folks are now onto him, it will only get worse. If he doesn’t retire he is a bigger fool than I thought or he just doesn’t know how to budget his money and will do a back up job anywhere just to make ends meet.

  44. henryac says:

Some people like things they can measure, that way they don’t have to go out on a limb and make a judgement call. You can measure height, weight, 40 times, vertical leap, but you can’t measure heart, determination, will to win. desire. All you can do is observe and try to judge what you are seeing without getting snowballed by the hype. Part of the problem may be when you have a player with as much hype around him as Tebow, trying to decide is it hype or truth is a major concern. Maybe it took this long for them to decide it wasn’t hype, that he is exactly what he seems to be. Now, it is on Tebow to live up to the expectations, realistic or not. He would have been better off career-wise if he had been drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round but he wasn’t. We will see what happens from here.

  45. strandoftds says:

As far as Dilfer and Hoge, pride and arogance. Dilfer is as boring as Orton and Hoge was an average RB for the steelers. The team that Dilfer was on when they won the SB was one of the best defenses ever. All Dilfer did was manage the game as a QB. The D won Baltimore the SB. Trent in my mind has no room yo talk. Tim Tebow just like anyone else needs time to develope as a NFL QB. Once again, pride and arogance.

  46. strandoftds says:

Well, now Tim gets his chance. It`s his time now, and I think he`ll answer the call.

  47. henryac says:

Strand, I would have to question whether you could even call Hoge average. I don’t remember him playing RB as much as him playing Special Teams. About the only time I remember him playing RB was when there was an injury or Pittsburg was way ahead. In 8 years he rushed for less than 3200 yards and 21 TD’s so calling him average might be a stretch. Dilfer finished his career with more INT’s than TD’s so he definitely wasn’t average, which is pretty bad for the 6th overall choice in the draft! Sour grapes to me from both of them more than anything else, it seems.

  48. sndvl says:

You know, a team that could use a veteran QB like Kyle Orton is the Jets. They have like 10 DBs and seeing as how that’s a position of need for us… Just thinking out loud is all!

  49. baylinorcrush says:

Jealousy is one of the main driving force in this world of ours, even in our blogs, haha.
