Ready to Go

September 22nd, 2011 - 11:51am by Willis McGahee

What’s going on? Just checking in real quick after our first win of the season. That felt real good.

Everybody’s spirits are up. We displayed to everybody what we can do when we work together as a team. But there are still a couple things we need to clean up.

As far as my game, the coaches told me what kind of load I was going to get coming in, so I was ready for it. The thing was just to go out there and have fun. Don’t take everything too seriously.

No doubt about it, I always have faith in myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. It was just me waiting for my opportunity, and I got my opportunity.

I joked I was going to be sore after taking that many carries — and believe me, I was very much sore. But it was all for the good of the team.

Getting ready this week, it’s been great seeing Knowshon back out at practice. It’s good to have everybody back where we can go out and perform and not have to worry about any drop-off anywhere.

Now we’ve got Tennessee at their place. It’s going to be very hostile, but we’re pros. Our job is to go in there and seize the moment. That’s what we’re going to do. As long as we stick together and stay a group, the sky’s the limit.

Just know we’re ready to go.

I hope McGahee can put up another 100+ yard game for us.

  2. Carsonic says:

Brian, I believe it’s all up to the O-line. If they are coming together and working as a unit, McGahee can do it easily. But if they are sloppy and out of sync, it’s going to be a long day for Orton’s right arm.

  3. stevecan2 says:

Good job last week 2-3. I hope we get to see many more like it. And I am glad to read that you are focused. Because running 25+ times on anyone’s body is especially hard.

I too hope that Knowshon can come back and play at his potential. Makes it that much easier on everyone involved. There are a lot of people still waiting to see him contribute that have yet to give up on him.

Play your game, and stay healthy and whether or not you particularly care about the fans, we will get behind your effort. At this point, we are grasping for straws to keep us a float and big games from you make it that much easier. I like your game, and can’t wait for more 100+ production.

McGahee sounds like the consumate pro, he always says the right things without embellishing stuff and keeping it on a fun level without taking himself too seriously, gotta love all that, very happy to have you McGahee, first I was happy we acquired you so you could get the tough short yardage Moreno never could, now additionally I am delighted to have such a level headed player on our team.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

I think you have leadership material and captaincy written all over you….

  6. baylinorcrush says:

I honestly can’t even think of one player on O who has anywhere close to the leadership material that McGahee has, other than Tebow but he is on the sidelines.

  7. CrazyBRONCOSfaN08 says:

    MCGAHEE YOUR THE MAN!!!!!!!!

  8. stevecan2 says:

I was happy to see McGahee added to the team and so far, everything said and his game have backed up the excitement.

  9. alexanserg says:

Thanks for running so hard, getting those tough yards. It’s great to see you in orange and blue, Willis.

  10. stevecan2 says:

The joking, dancing, and all that we have seen out of the other back, is not impressive that’s for sure. Like I tell my guys at work, I am all about having fun, joking around, etc. But as soon as the work stops getting done the way I or those above me want it done, the games stop and it becomes more about getting back to work.

  11. baylinorcrush says:

And it’s the timing of it Steve, it seems the bigger we lose the more excited Moreno gets whenever he makes what is then an insignificant play, did that so many times the last two years I get sick to my stomach watching him, a good clown picks his moments better to make the audience laugh, I’m more inclined to cry with Moreno…

  12. baylinorcrush says:

Not to worry Moreno, TRB will be to the rescue soon, LOL.

  13. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Congrats on your first victory as a Bronco Willis. Can only imagine how big that run might have been if u didn’t run into the other willis. Im sure u are glad to have the help in the backfield again. We will be able to run as long as the OL can make holes like they did in cincy. TRB

  14. Mikeyb1203 says:

If what you say is true Bay and OC then the end of this year will be the only chance for Tebow to showcase if he is worth his contract, if we do indeed fall out of playoff contention. But then you would have to wonder if Fox would put him in invade there is a chance he does well enough for the fans to feel comfortable as a starter. Or will te not even give him a chance so that we can draft a new QB without that much of a fuss and use the excuse Tebow was just not QB material. What are your thoughts on that?

  15. Mikeyb1203 says:

    Invade=incase.

  16. royalbroncofan1 says:

Great to read Willis !! You had an awesome game last outing!!
Keep it going – Bring back a “W”!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  17. baylinorcrush says:

I tend to go with the Mark Schlereth assessment, that our long term starting QB is not on our roster yet, the potential big Tebow money if he starts seems to be backing up that possibility even more, I’m sorry to say.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

To answer your question I think when we’ll be out of playoff contention Tebow may start simply to showcase him for a possible trade.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Woody just said this morning he happens to know Fox doesn’t like Tebow, and Fox will be back next year no matter what.

  20. baylinorcrush says:

    This is what Woody said:

I know that John Fox is not a big believer in Tebow. He was sort of on the fence when he got here and has fallen toward the anti-Tebow side since training camp.

  21. Mikeyb1203 says:

Well I will be sad to not have Tebow I believe he has the potential to lead a superbowl team. It kinda makes me resentful that we would send talent away just because of money but I hope the next QB we draft will be more talented to make up for the loss of Tebows leadership. And I hope Tebow does not end up in our division.

  22. royalbroncofan1 says:

    TRB – “in cincy”… could’ve sworn I was a Sports Authority Field at Mile High…. LOL! j/k !!

  23. Mikeyb1203 says:

Well in that case I will be the first one to launch fire Fox campaign if Tebow leads a team to the playoffs the year he is traded!

  24. DenverOranges says:

I miss the days when Bay, BFE, TRB, RBF1 and Strand would bring up all kinds of behind the scenes stories but now we have them wasting there time predicting the future of a quarterback. I am a Tebow Supporter but am tired of reading the same garbage. I appreciate everyone who blogs on here but come on guys let’s talk about the present for a change.

    Go Broncos!!!

  25. royalbroncofan1 says:

Yeah, Woody shed some more light and confirmed what everyone thought.

  26. baylinorcrush says:

If that wasn’t a behind the scene story, the Tebow $$$$$, nothing will ever be, LOL.

  27. Mikeyb1203 says:

I am starting to wonder if Orton not renegotiating his contract for a trade was him doing what he was told by either Fox or Elway? Also what happened to us hiring a coach that was a supporter of Tebow. I thought that was important in the interview process.

  28. baylinorcrush says:

It sold out the stadium for the year.

  29. Mikeyb1203 says:

So it was a PR ploy?

  30. baylinorcrush says:

Everyone can make their own conclusions, I thought the numbers we brought up spoke louder than any words could.

  31. Yovi21 says:

It only took a 100 yard rushing effort and some pretty great defense to get Orton his first win! woo hoo!

  32. stevecan2 says:

    Mikey,

That’s what we were told. And yet, no dice.

When all is said and done, it depresses the effing hell out of me, knowing that no matter we are told, without but the in depth research by fans, we will never know the truth. That to me, is just not right. So now, if this trend continues, well, suspect everything. I expect it out of the Government and politicians in general, not the Denver Broncos.

  33. DenverOranges says:

Bay good point but dont be a smart A$$ lol

  34. stevecan2 says:

Some say I am over reacting with the pessimism. Well, lying to me always turns me pessimistic. In life, football, relationships, etc.

  35. seweatherman1 says:

It is all about the dollar Mickey, all about the $$$$$$$$$.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

And some folks rather not draw any conclusions, that’s their perogative too, sweeping it under the rug so they can enjoy the season fully and now that I’m not as blind about things about the QQ as I was a while back, that’s basically what I’m going to do too, there is definitely nothing I can do about money, I don’t have enough to loan them and I don’t know of any trees where it’s growing on, or I would tell the organization. For lack of smarter words it is what it is. Selling part or all of the organization is ultimately what will need to happen as far as I’m concerned, started saying that a couple years ago and nothing has changed that.

  37. stevecan2 says:

    damn Bay,

I hadn’t missed that. That is a pretty harsh assessment.

  38. stevecan2 says:

Oh, and with the coach wanting to coach Tebow.

Well, we saw it with Cutler. Shanahan was fired, a comment made, “Jay is kind of the man around here now.” Then against his wishes, Jeremy Bates fired. Then McD starts looking into a trade for Cassel.

Cutler, even though I still can’t stand his um, well, uh, um, uh, well, um, uh with a “who farted look” on his face, saw through the BS and walked. Going on 3 years later, out looks about the same. Can’t trust what is said during the off season.

  39. Mile High J says:

Ever since I saw we signed Willis McGahee, I knew he would give us a toughness we were lacking in the backfield. I love the way Moreno runs the ball, but it’s was a HUGE plus having both styles now. It’s just awesome watching McGahee try and run people over!! Keep doing your thing Bronco Nation is behind you!

  40. baylinorcrush says:

Well, which one is truer, that we are going to a SB soon, or that we need an influx of money, specially in 2013, the first year the league will force us to spend 89% of the cap, they are obviously doing their best to manage it now but then what, just saying.

  41. broncosfan1580 says:

I would really like to see mcgahee get around 20 carries and knowshon get 15. I think thats pretty good balance and knowshon should get involved in some passes. Has anyone noticed that we havnt had a screen play in a long time?

  42. stevecan2 says:

To further illustrate how much it really gets to me people lying. Orton, I have not held his, I don’t play for fans, could care less approach aginst him. Sure, its annoying, but he is honest. Comes straight out and admits it. Liking it and respecting it are two different animals.

  43. stevecan2 says:

It’s obvious that EFX has all but forsaken anything in Denver attributed to McDaniels. Minus the money saving QB.

  44. royalbroncofan1 says:

I think BW from espn read your post bay….lol.

“McGahee had to take the lead role. He did well. Expect him to get the chance to carry the ball often at Tennessee on Sunday”.

  45. stevecan2 says:

    Suspect move #46:

Fox commented that he would institute either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense based on talent, but he is a 4-3 guy. Our talent is best used in a 3-4 this year. We go with what Fox wanted anyway. Poor choice considering we didn’t touch a DT.

  46. brian_schneider says:

I’m sure ticket prices in 2013 will be increasing along with everything else they can nickel, dime, and even penny us fans for.

  47. brian_schneider says:

We touched him and he got injured….

  48. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, McGahee has leader written all over him, specially in a Moreno-Ball backfield.

  49. stevecan2 says:

well, thats enough of the blogosphere for now. Going to go coach a team, and tell my starting pitchers. It’s an open competition for who’s #1 on the rotation even though us coaches already have it set.

  50. baylinorcrush says:

    LMAO@Steve!!!
