Ready for Work

October 20th, 2011 - 6:19pm by Willis McGahee

I told you all I was just going to head home for the bye week, and that’s exactly what I did. Hanging with the family. That’s all I did, really.

Now I’m back and ready to get to work. Looking forward to this weekend. It’s always good to go back to Miami, but I’m looking at it as we need to go in there and take care of business team-wise. It’s not about what I’m looking forward to, it’s about what we need to go in there and do.

We’ve been hard at work preparing for the Dolphins, and tonight I’m just going to be chilling. Relaxing for my birthday. That’s about it.

I’m just ready for this Sunday.

    Happy Birthday Willis.

I think what Champ says about Tebow was great. He has been around a long time and when he said he has never seen a player like Tebow I think that is saying something. Hubby gave in for this weekends game choices, I get to watch my Bronco’s at 1:00 and we are recording his Brown’s (he says they aren’t that good but he still loves them) we are also recording the London game and then watching Aaron Rodgers at 4. I am so excited for this weekend.

Straight off the Miami Dolphins official website, something called the #1 edge against the Broncos by different writers:

-Dolphins secondary vs. Broncos receivers (Sam Maddison)
Even without a pass rush, the Dolphins’ corners and safeties can contain a very young passing attack. Tebow’s #1 receiving threat was just shipped to St. Louis, so everyone should be able to win their match-ups. That will help the pass rush which should help to equal a win!

    -Humidity and altitude (Troy Drayton)
Denver is going from the highest altitude in the NFL to sea-level South Florida. The humidity will be noticeable for the Broncos players, which should help the Dolphins in the second half, just like it did in 2005, when they melted in quarters three and four.

-Dolphins secondary vs. Broncos receivers (John Congemi)
If the Dolphins’ secondary can limit the ability of Tebow to throw to open receivers, it will make him one dimensional and that much easier to shut down.

-Cameron Wake vs. Tim Tebow (Jesse Agler)
I know there’s a lot of talk about Tebow’s size and his ability to make plays on the run, but I don’t think he’s yet met the likes of one Mr. Sack. I look for Wake to put a hurting on the Gator and help lead the Fins to victory.

    -Davone Bess (@Mike91908 on Twitter)
Getting Bess going in the slot will open the flat for Bush. If I’m not mistaken Bess led the team in first downs last year. They need to move the chains chew clock and keep the D off the field more. They want to win this year they have to keep opponents under 17 points. That’s how they’ll beat Denver.

-Daniel Thomas vs. Broncos run defense (Keith Sims)
The Broncos are 23rd against the run this year and it seems like Thomas is just about to get things going in a major way for the Dolphins. I like Miami to run and control the clock and Thomas is a big part of that!

Always nice to see things from the other side of the fence.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

Legwold pointing to the D not being anywhere close to where they to be:

The Broncos surrendered 190 yards rushing in one of their games, and opposing quarterbacks have thrown for at least 300 yards in the other four.

That’s not the kind of defensive posture the team is looking for.

They are 24th in the NFL in yards allowed per game, which is a modest improvement over their 2010 finish, when they were last, or nearly last, in virtually every major defensive category.

However, when teams get inside the Denver 20-yard line, they’re putting touchdowns on the board. The Broncos are 31st in the NFL in scoring defense and are one of just seven teams to have surrendered at least 12 touchdowns from inside their own 20-yard line.

Telling stats, our D is not nearly as good as we all would like to think, obviously.

  4. baylinorcrush says:

A look at what the D is looking at for the rest of the season after this “easy” game:

The Broncos have seven of the top 13 scoring offenses still on the schedule in Detroit (No. 4), Oakland (No. 8), New York Jets (No. 11), San Diego (No. 13), Chicago (No. 10), New England (No. 3) and Buffalo (No. 2).

  5. collies10 says:

I would call that glass half full reporting lol. Cannot see us not winning this one. If we are to win many more games this season this has to be a gimmee.

Noticed they mention nothing about their short week and us coming off a bye. Also we have a fully fit squad and they have doubts about a number of their starters. We win and we win big. How bad can your quarterbacks be if you are entertaining thoughts pre-season of trading for Orton. In fact I am going to assume Bay that this was a satirical report from a spoof publication.

  6. collies10 says:

Think Tebow needs 5 wins to keep job. Looking at what you just printed would have to say we need to beat Miami, Kansas twice, the bears and jets.

If we win more than that then we can look forward to next year as I would say that would confirm Tebow is the real deal.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

Even 4 out of 7 writers in South Florida have a difficult time seeing the Dolphins win this one:

    Mike Berardino
    Sports columnist
    Prediction: Dolphins 13, Broncos 10
Comment: In Suck For Luck terms, a win is a loss.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Dave Hyde
    Sports columnist
    Prediction: Broncos 17, Dolphins 16
Comment: I’m done saying the Dolphins should find a way to win against bad teams.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Omar Kelly
    Dolphins writer
    Prediction: Dolphins 20, Broncos 17
Comment: This is the only team on the Dolphins’ schedule that they are better than. Tim Tebow can’t beat them, so Dolphins will focus heavily on stopping the run.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Andrew Carter
    Dolphins writer
    Prediction: Dolphins 12, Broncos 9
Comment: These are two bad teams but the Broncos, believe it or not, are a little worse. And breaking in a new starting quarterback. Dolphins break through.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Keven Lerner
    Online Sports Editor
    Prediction: Broncos 20, Dolphins 17
Comment: Tim Tebow, who rallied the Broncos two weeks ago against the Chargers before falling short, will get it done against the dismal Dolphins.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Joe Schwerdt
    Dolphins Editor
    Prediction: Broncos 17, Dolphins 9
Comment: Tim Tebow, fueled by a Gator-friendly crowd, adds to the Dolphins’ misery.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Steve Svekis
    Multimedia reporter
    Prediction: Broncos 23, Dolphins 16
Comment: Nothing changes until Brandon Marshall learns how to score, Tony Sparano stops coaching scared and the defense starts rushing the passer.

  8. baylinorcrush says:

collies, that first post of mine is located in the official Dolphin team’s website just as I said, one like this one, so of course they are backing up their team.

  9. collies10 says:

I know as was only joking Bay. But I do believe we win this one mate. I feel tebow is not only gonna be trying to win this he really has an 11 match trial for a permanent position. So he will do what it takes.

I hope Champ puts marshall in his back pocket and every now and again gives him a weE pat on the head like a cuddly toy. Then when he walks of field marshall with no catches champ says can I play against you every week knucklehead.

  10. killerkod says:

We might have an under achieving D, but we’re going up against an inept O, so I”ll take that battle anyday.

With Marshall being ineffective, and with Champ on his butt, I think the pass game will be essentially non-existent. But we do need to stop the run game……….which I think we do.

We’re gonna need a LARGE game from McGahee! Bring some balance to our O and let Tebow make some plays with HIS ARM TOO!!!

  11. baylinorcrush says:

ESPN picks, split right down the middle 5-5:

Picking Dolphins to win, Shefter!?!?!?!, Hoge (no surprise here, haha), Jaworski, Mortensen and Wickersham.

Picking us to win, Allen, Golic, Schlereth, Accuscore and Pick ‘em.

So as far as people only three pick us to win, LOL, pretty surprising to say the least!!!

  12. henryac says:

Do they really think is Cameron Wake is that much better than any of the LB’s Tebow has played before? That is probably about the dumbest comment I have ever heard a writer make! Look at the number of LB’s in the NFL over the last few years and see how many of them played in the SEC. McClain, Willis, Spikes, Cunningham, etc. Tebow played most if not all of them before so I suspect he will not be surprised by Wake.

  13. baylinorcrush says:

Of course on this website the clear majority says we will win this one, in fact so far only 3 bloggers have said we would lose, but the ESPN guys mainly going the way of the Dolphins is a stern reminder that most don’t believe Tebow can get the job done.

  14. baylinorcrush says:

At CBS Sports, Judge, Brinson and Richard pick us to win, while Freeman and Priscoe don’t, Priscoe saying he thinks the Miami defense will be too much for Tebow to handle.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

At Fox Sports, Pete Schrager predicts a Broncos 20-16 victory. He sees Tim Tebow pulling off some spin moves while enjoying a celebration of his college team at half time.

  16. collies10 says:

Some things are just destined. Alot of people thought Foreman would murder Ali. But like all greats he found a way to win. All you have to be able to do is find a way to win.

Tebow plays on heart. I see him as the heart of this team pumping oxygen to all parts of the Bronco body. He will not only play well the rest of the team will play better. Plus we have been close all games apart from the packers. If tebow helps us improve by 1 score a match we would be sitting 4 and 1. Not far off my friends not far off at all.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Anyhow all this info to remind everyone tomorrow midnight is your deadline to place your score prediction, no picks on game day, no exceptions.

  18. killerkod says:

    I don’t think Miami sees the endzone………..

I think Tebow looks aweful at times, but gets the job done….

    20-12 BRONCOS!!

  19. killerkod says:

I think there’ll be a head coach looking for work after this weekend………

Patience has to be growing thin for Sporano……….I think this game will be the nail in the coffin.

  20. baylinorcrush says:

    Mine, 24-16 Broncos.

  21. killerkod says:

So you see a TD and 3 FG’s for the Fins bay? Or 2 TD’s and a safety? hahaha

  22. baylinorcrush says:

Does that get me extra points? LOL.

  23. killerkod says:

Don’t you make up the rules for this contest? hahaha

Well, if you boldly called the safety and it happened, you would get MAD PROPS for the rest of the season……and I think it would deserve at least 50 bonus points! LOL

  24. henryac says:

One of my favorite comments on NFL Network was how things will be more difficult for Denver when teams have a chance to “game-plan” for Tebow. The question that comes to mind every time I hear that is how do you game-plan a defense against smeone who makes half of it up as he goes along? He has never really had a favorite target, a favorite play, or a set way of doing much of anything so how do you plan for that? You may plan to try and contain him, but I suspect that is about as far as the planning will go. After that, you have to run him down and tackle him or hope he is as bad a passer as the talking heads think. History and past performance at all levels he has played call that judgement into question but the bottom line is we will now see for sure instead of guessing and I consider that a major step in the right direction.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

The rules are made up before the season starts and can’t change midway, will never do a detail score contest though, since this is a lot of work as is.

  26. baylinorcrush says:

Henry, agree with you but I think it wouldn’t be that hard for me to put up a game plan against Tebow, select a spy to put on him every play, contain the edges to keep all the running down the middle and let him beat you with the pass if he can, whether that would work or not is a different story, but that’s how I’d do it..

  27. royalbroncofan1 says:

AFC playbook on NFLN predictions last night:

Joe Theissmann – Broncos (likes Tebow intangibles, & Bailey leading D).
Sterling Sharpe – Broncos (pocket knife has a chance in gunfight! lol!).
Matt Millen – Dolphins (thinks B-Marsh will have great game).
    Tom Waddle ?? – Broncos.

  28. brian_schneider says:

I agree, basically make Tebow beat you from inside the pocket where he’s the least comfortable. If he does go under center I could see a lot of quick slants and screens. Just got to make sure the center to QB exchange is clean, we don’t need to be turning the ball over.

  29. raidrhadr says:

royal That’s Brian Baldinger not Waddle. I see the Broncos winning this one.

    Broncos 27
    Dolphins 17

  30. raidrhadr says:

Matt Millen is a D-bag. He’s the one who ruined the Lions imo.

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Tebow can count his blessings, he makes his first start this season against the 0-5 Dolphins.

Ponder can ponder on his welcome to the NFL baptism, starting his first game ever against the 6-0 Packers.

NFL life just isn’t fair, LOL.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

Millen has often been called the worst GM in any sports and rightly so.

Now Xanders needs to get off that dubious competition, haha.

  33. royalbroncofan1 says:

Thx raidrhadr — couldn’t remember the 4th guy.

  34. raidrhadr says:

Brian: To make Tebow stay in the pocket they will have to load the box and or spy TT. In doing that they will leave favorable matchups and D Thomas will need to step up. Actually I see the TEs coming into play there. Hope Tebow can read that. I do expect us to try to run the ball including Tebow and I hope that opens up the deep ball later.

  35. raidrhadr says:

No sweat royal. I hope we all have each other’s back on here.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

    Don’t count on it, LOL.

  37. raidrhadr says:

They are all over TT on NFLN too. Every 5 minutes they are saying something about him. Of course everyone has heard Champ’s comments that he made on there yesterday. Most of it has been positive.

  38. raidrhadr says:

    We can have hope bay

  39. raidrhadr says:

I know bay. I’ve not been real comfortable with Xanders either.

  40. raidrhadr says:

I picked up the Broncos D on my fantasy team. I think the Dolphins are one of the worst teams I’ve seen based on their performance on Monday night. Again, I’ll say that if the Dolphins lose this game, Tony Sparano will get fired.

    Klis on NFLN…ugh

  41. shaztah says:

Living in Florida since 1984 and I know what the writers are saying about the humidity BUT consider this, yes Tebow has been in Denver for 2 years but with the lockout I imagine he spent a lot of time here this past offseason so the climate will not affect him as much as the other players. Tebow is excellent at putting the team on his back so he may just be able to help out more than most think.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

    new blog

  43. royalbroncofan1 says:

Nothing but respect here for you raidrhadr, as we both served in US Mil so I’ve got your back.

  44. Big D 44 says:

    My prediction: Broncos win 28-10!!!!!!!

  45. Mustang says:

    Happy Birthday, Willis… 150 yards man :)
