Ready for Work

October 20th, 2011 - 6:19pm by Willis McGahee

I told you all I was just going to head home for the bye week, and that’s exactly what I did. Hanging with the family. That’s all I did, really.

Now I’m back and ready to get to work. Looking forward to this weekend. It’s always good to go back to Miami, but I’m looking at it as we need to go in there and take care of business team-wise. It’s not about what I’m looking forward to, it’s about what we need to go in there and do.

We’ve been hard at work preparing for the Dolphins, and tonight I’m just going to be chilling. Relaxing for my birthday. That’s about it.

I’m just ready for this Sunday.

Hey MCG – I’ll ditto what 2gunz there says and add that with Tebow being a constant run threat I am expecting the MIA D to be faked outta their shoes a couple of times for you. I keep tellin’ ‘em you are going to have a career day this week. Be patient – the holes are gonna be there! Hope you were well celebrated by family.

Pat Bowlen has stepped down from his job as co-chair of the NFL labor committee.

Bowlen has been the Broncos’ owner since March 1984. And he was co-chair of the committee since 2001.

Read whatever you want into that, not even gonna go there as so not to upset anyone.

  12. Crazyhorserider says:

    Prediction

    Broncos 34 – Dolphins 9

  13. daddybronc says:

Bay – don’t bale on us. I need to know what it means???

It’s a blog – not to worry about upsets except one in MIA!

  14. Orange_Crusher says:

Will the Thrill, when you get through to the secondary and give the first DB a good stiff arm, right at that moment, you need a burst of speed/energy/pushoff and instinct to get to the endzone…

I believe you can reel off a 60+ yard BURST to the endzone for 6 Thrill!!!!!

    MAD STALLION STAMPEED = McGahee-Moreno-Tebow!!!!!!!

    KEEP THE DRIVE ALIVE BRONCOS!!!!!!!!

  15. baylinorcrush says:

Mr Bolwen is getting tired, it’s a normal life process and it has been reported for a few years now that he is not as involved into the daily activities as he once was, again that makes total sense at his age, plus it also has been reported that he has some health issues that make it hard for him to be as visible as he once was, on the sidelines and everywhere else and again that is totally understandable, and so now he steps down from a post of high responsibilities, totally understandable once again, and not far down the road the taking a backseat is going to reach his tenure as a Bronco owner, that only makes sense and is inevitable, and I love the man more than any owners in the NFL, worked hard at getting his autograph in the magic year of 1997, but everything has a beginning and an end and this to me clearly points to the latter. However for now let’s enjoy what’s left of the Bowlen era and ride it with him.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

    Sorry, Mr Bowlen.

  17. broncsbomber66 says:

    Well said…

  18. daddybronc says:

Thanks Bay – I found the article.
Since he is still on other committees and since they had pics of Bowlen on the practice field today, It would seem that we have a few more ‘rushes’ left in Bowlen’s season.

I agree Pat has been one of the most supportive owners in pro sports anywhere.

Tebow – win another one for Pat Bowlen! GO BRONCS! will sunday ever get here…?

  19. daddybronc says:

IT also indicates a certain satisfaction with the new Labor agreement.

I actually expected a lot more dissatisfaction from both sides.

  20. daddybronc says:

    G’nite –

It’s movie night tonight w/ the kiddies.

  21. sndvl says:

MIAMI — Tim Tebow ‘s popularity hasn’t been enough for the winless Dolphins to sell out Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos , so they’ve agreed to buy any remaining tickets to avert a television blackout in South Florida.

    http://m.nfl.com/news/09000d5d8234fd11/dolphins-buy-tickets-to-avert-blackout-vs-tebow-broncos/

  22. sndvl says:

Last time at site: Behind quarterback Gus Frerotte, Miami got the Nick Saban era off to a successful start with a 34-10 win over the Broncos in Week 1 of the 2005 season .

Reason for road optimism: You won’t see a more interesting game between teams with a combined 1-9 record. Let’s start with the Broncos’ obvious advantage: They’re coming off a bye week, while the Dolphins are coming off a short week, having played on Monday night. And anyone who saw Miami against the Jets knows that any team that takes the field against Tony Sparano’s club right now has an excellent chance to win. Miami couldn’t get any pressure on a struggling Mark Sanchez or protect its own quarterback, Matt Moore , and the Dolphins receivers couldn’t hold onto the ball when Moore did get time to throw. Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall are banged up. Denver has its own problems at 1-4, but the Broncos have generally played better than the Dolphins this season, and they should be fired up to get the Tim Tebow era started on the right foot. The Broncos are also healthier than they’ve been at any time this season. Denver is 0-7 against the Dolphins in Miami, but the Dolphins have lost 11 of their last 12 home games, so something’s got to give.

  23. denver0723 says:

Happy Birthday Willis McGahee!!!!! Kick some butt on Sunday. Super excited to see the energy the Broncos take with them on to the field this Sunday. We need a win boys. 2-4 is a lot better than 1-5. Could you imagine getting back up to 4-4? It would be incredible. No idea whether or not it is possible, but I hope Sunday provides some insight.

    GO BRONCOS!

  24. sndvl says:

    I’ll say.

    Denver- 23
    Miami- 7

  25. baylinorcrush says:

sndvl, I wonder how many seats Orton would of sold in Miami, LOL.

  26. sndvl says:

Anytime Champ says he’ll give 120%, you know he’s not joking. (he’s gonna have to against his matchup this week, as I feel he will have his hands full)

    http://m.nfl.com/blogs/2011/10/20/broncos-bailey-says-tebow-is-special-player/

  27. sndvl says:

    Who cares baylin?

Chances are, we haven’t seen the last of Orton anyway…

  28. sndvl says:

Besides, even the All-Mighty Tebow couldn’t sell it out…

  29. baylinorcrush says:

  30. daddybronc says:

  31. Ty-one-on says:

    Happy Birthday Willis !

“It’s not about what I’m looking forward to, it’s about what we need to go in there and do.”

Love your attitude Willis. It’s players like you that can help inspire this team to the playoffs when everyone else has written the Broncos off. Well f@#k ‘em all and prove them wrong Willis and ask your teammates tomorrow, why not ? !!

  32. daddybronc says:

Rangers up 1 in St. Louie

  33. denver0723 says:

Orton would have sold thousands of tickets. Think about all the nerds that look up to him. He is what the nerd community talks about when asked about nerds that have made an impact. He is a superstar.

    Lame joke.

Anyways, Orton will get picked up by a team after this season. Whether he is a starter or not is in question, but he really isn’t that bad. I wanted him benched, and I will stick by that. But given the right talent level around him, he can do well. I don’t believe he can carry a team on his shoulders, but I think he is more than capable of getting the ball to the playmakers on the team. We have a few playmakers, but we definitely don’t have a lot of elite talent. The thing I hated about Orton was that he played just good enough to lose. I know not all of it was his fault, but he just seemed to have bad luck with us. Countless times he had freak things happen that caused him to fail. The bad snap against the Jets last year that he couldn’t pick up, the dropped ball against the Raiders, the interception against the Titans. The losses were not entirely on him, but he just seemed to have the worst luck whenever the game was on the line. Maybe it was him? Or maybe he just gets unlucky too often. Either way, we kept losing the same way every week. We stopped expecting different results, and every game was the exact same. And it was frustrating.

Tebow provides energy and hope. Whether or not that is enough to win has yet to be seen. But at least he gives us fans something to be excited about. I personally don’t see how a kid like Tebow can possibly fail. But none of us know what will happen Sunday. Hopefully he plays well enough to shut up some critics.

I don’t feel bad for Orton as a player who under performed and dismissed the fans, but i feel bad for Orton as a person. He has a wife and child, and is a decent professional and I am sure a more than decent family man. But as we know he was not good enough on the field, and his best on the field was not good enough. It is Tebow time and I can not wait. I have wanted Tebow under center for a long time now, and I am glad he finally has his chance. He may not be the answer EFX is looking for long term, but he is definitely the answer for this team the rest of the season.

Again I am excited, anxious, and nervous for this game. But I can not wait.

P.S. I may have gone out drinking tonight, so if anything I wrote seems contradicting, out of place, or simply stupid – than I apologize.

    Ready for Sunday. GO BRONCOS!

    Saturday night.

    P.S.

I hate the Pats, but I respect that aspect of Bellichecks Philosophy.

    I Pray..

That the Spirit of Mile-High Returns….and help our Team, do the Unthinkable:

PROVE EVERYBODY WRONG WHO DOUBTS IN THE GREATNESS OF MY CITY, And do so in stunning Miraculous Fashion that the term “Never Say Never”, takes on a whole new different meaning.

    TO: Tim Tebow,

The reason for your Highly overated and un-Fair criticism isn’t because of your Mechanics alone(which are above decent on your worst day), but it’s truly because you are an Outspoken Warrior for God!!! THATS THE TRUTH, and “they” (naysayers) just want to See ANY Champion for Him, Not Succeed, and will do anything to get you to crack and break!!

    Therefore,

I BLESS YOU and Our Team for that fact alone!! Like David vs. Goliath & Against All Odds-

    TIM,
I have but 3 words for You: STAND ……AND ….DELIVER!!!

For HE will not Forsake the meaning of why Destiny has brought You to Mile-High, or The Meaning of why you were drafted:

To GIVE our Team the ONE thing it has lacked Since ELWAY. Something that all the talent or skill can’t convey, and that’s the Undeniable Gift you POSSESS———-H E A R T!!! That’s What has been Missing since John.

Now go out there, and PLAY YOUR HEARTS OUT!

  37. sndvl says:

Here’s my take on the Orton situation.
It was predicated on the expectation our defense was going to be better than they have shown.

Orton became ineffective. Just as the defense has failed to meet their preseason expectations.

Sitting at 1-3, and down against SD, it was just the time to make the switch. For better. Or more of the same. (I’d say worse, but can it really get any worse ?)

Who knows? Had the D made a key stop on opening night…had the D not allowed a 90 plus yard drive against TEN…or a key stop before halftime against SD…

Woulda, coulda, shoulda…so now it’s Tebow Time.

I just hope the coaching staff stay fair and consistent and bench the players who are ineffective at positions other than QB1.

Guess when you’re the 2011 version of the Beatles, the hysteria takes over.

  39. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Im glad Champ agrees Sndvl … I was very shocked when I saw no fine. It sends the worst kind of message and I also brought up the fact that if it was players they woulda been fined … while i personally feel that muscle bound, young, often stupid players fighting is nothing compared to professional football coaches who are in charge of their team and reprimanding people who do wrong things. Not fining them sent a message, the wrong kind. I find it more acceptable to see coaches fight than players … half these bone heads are fresh out of college but not coaches, they are usually grown men with families that understand responsibility and that every action has a consequence. Goodell says its all about keeping the shield clean … yea … only when it comes to players cuz lets face it, when the line is drawn between owners and players, coaches often fall on the side of Owners/management/front office and clearly they just decided not to fine thier own. Not to mention the fight happened at a pivotal moment when sportsmanship is supposed to be shown. Anyway … it is what it is.

And I agree Sndvl, champs gonna need that 120 percent against marshall if he can go. And he would know from being on the same team with the guy. Buts thats the TT effect. What we have all said … the team plays harder when TT is the QB … because they know he will not give them less than his best … and as a result the whole team steps it up …. yes .. even defense.

    Later Days, TRB out…

  40. sndvl says:

It’s funny how the blame is being passed around in Denver.

Started with Shanny and his revolving D-Coord fiasco.
    Then onto McD.
    Next in line- Orton
    Now it’s Xanders.

It will be nice when we start winning again…

    GO BRONCOS!

  41. daddybronc says:

0723 – I hope you’re not drunk cuz I was thinking as I read that #1 – I like your writing style – it flows. #2 – I wish I had written what you wrote.

I was harsh with Orton and I continue to call him Eeyore as a player –

but when I think of him having to go home and explain Tebow to the little woman….I’m sympathetic.

I like Orton as a back-up. I still think we will all prefer Weber in short order.

  42. denver0723 says:

Thanks daddybronc. I am not drunk, but I had enough to where I worry about whether or not I got my point/feelings across in an understandable manner. When I drink I tend to ramble or jump from topic to topic, and I become very hard to comprehend lol. Your post confirms that I was able to state my opinion in a way that at least made some sense I suppose, thank you.

  43. Bronco_Turtle says:

Happy Birthday #23!!! Any side bets on whether or not Miller gets Sack #6?!? I’m thinking that he gets 1.5 and Ayers the other .5… :o )

Go BRONCOS!!! (Can’t it be Sunday Already)

  44. Elvisdoom4QBs says:

Gotta say, so happy you are wearing the Orange and Blue. I remember you from your Buffalo days, whenver I would start a season with Madden the first trade I made was to get you in Denver. Nice to see foolish dreams can become reality. Keep running hard and love to see you guys rocking he mile high salute. Keep up the great work.

  45. daddybronc says:

turtle – i think either doom or miller will get 2 the other will get one, and somebody else will get one as well. Yep, I pull these things right off the top of my head –

Seems like Moore was sacked a bunch and hit even more by the Jets and I believe that the defense of the Broncos is better at pressuring the QB than the Jets.

No matter what it’s gonna be great football!

  46. BroncosLAX says:

0723, sndvl, and daddy I couldn’t agree with all of you guys anymore! 0723 you said it perfectlyno hint of Alcohal… Orton really is a class guy and always gave enough to just lose. I think where McD earned the blame, the blame was more thrown onto Orton because he wasn’t winning plain and simple. And although we can debate on the affect of the defense and what could have happened if they made this stop, we can also debate on Orton being on the field to little which has helped wear our D down. My Take it has truely been a team effort in losing 4 games so far. The D and O has been banged up, Orton has made untimely turnovers, the D hasn’t stopped teams when it counts, and golden opportunities end in field goals. Orton could have done better, so could the Defense. The running game also disappears when it has counted so it is a team effort. Maybe Orton didn’t motivate enough from the QB spot maybe he did and the team just isnt very good. All I know is I watched Orton for around 30 games in Blue and Orange and the guy is a Pro, a Competitor and a Leader. Does he compare to Tebow in those aspects? No but is there anyone who does? The player played himself out of the QB job… the person got frustrated with the constant bombardment from our fans and the culmination was the first half performance against SD where you could see the affect from the moment he threw his first incompletion and the Boos began. Orton will find a home next year as a Back Up and stay quite and when he is called upon he will be better than he was here where any QB could have folded… and he tried his best but it just wasn’t god enough.

That being said The Tebow Era Begins Sunday and I fear it will not end until maybe 2019 lol 20 years after the Elway Era came to an end.

    GO BRONCOS!!! GO TEBOW!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
