Ready for the Long Stretch

October 21st, 2011 - 11:33am by Rahim Moore

I planned on going back to my high school over the bye, and I sure did go back and worked out. I actually had like a little high school practice — much slower than the NFL. Nah, but I went in and talked to the kids, shared some of my experiences and what I’m going through. I told them that if I can be here, they can be here. Always good to give back.

It also brought back memories. It brings me flashbacks to how hard I worked to get here. I did a lot of thinking over the break. It helped.

After the bye, we’ve basically got a college season coming up. I used the bye to help get ready for this stretch. It’s tough and it’s something I’ve never been a part of. The thing I have to do is just continue to take care of myself and continue to pray and take care of my body. Just keep working. Keep lifting.

I’m looking forward to this Sunday. You know what? On film, the Dolphins are better than their record. They’ve got some great players over there and it’s definitely not going to be easy. Just because they’re 0-5, they’re not going to let down. This is the NFL. Anybody can be beaten on any given day. We’re going to go out there and play hard and hope for the best.

I watched them on Monday Night Football. They did some good things. Their defense played very well. You know they have Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush — and one of my best friends is Daniel Thomas. I was happy to see him do his thing, but I’m not going to be happy to see him this week.

Through our careers of playing football in college, I got to know Daniel. Also we used to live together out in Florida. We’re under the same agency, so we worked out together and ended up staying in Florida after the workouts, after the combine. We just jelled and learned from each other.

I always play against him every year since I’ve been playing in college, so me and him, we always enjoy playing against each other. We’ll see who gets the better this weekend.

Rahim, they are 0-5, they had a bye too.

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Neat to hear about the Rahim-Daniel connection, that will be an interesting match up to watch, thanks for that info.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

Hopefully they WILL be 0-6, haha.

  4. Thanks for noticing that, Baylinorcrush, I’ll make sure it gets fixed.

  5. true2broncos says:

Rahim Moore is looking better and more solid as the year goes on – keep up the good work!!!

  6. The Dane says:

    Prediction:

    Broncos: 27

    Dolphins: 20

  7. brian_schneider says:

Maybe Bailey can shutdown Marshall and make him lose it and get kicked out of the game like he said he was going to do last week.

  8. Broncfalls says:

FOR THE LOVE OF FOOTBALL….IS IT SUNDAY YET! GEEEZZ

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  9. royalbroncofan1 says:

This was also part of the interview with Bailey on NFLN:

Champ Bailey stood up for his young quarterback:

“Tebow is a special kind of a player; I’ve never seen a player like him in my whole career…So it’s going to be interesting to see what happens, and I’m going to give it all I’ve got for the guy. I know he’s going to be out there giving it 110 (percent), so I’m going to go 120. That’s just the way I see it.”

With players like Bailey getting behind him, Tim’s leadership and charisma already seem to be paying dividends in his efforts to rally the team to turn around their slow start.

    That’s a good sign.

Funny, sndvl giving us the Orton backer side of the coin on that Bailey interview in the last blog and rbf1 giving us the flipside here. Well done!

  11. royalbroncofan1 says:

sndvl… I did see you posted link last evening… sorry for repeat.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

That’s the problem with links, often overlooked.

  13. DenverOranges says:

Bay my prediction again in case you missed it is Denver 24 Miami 7

  14. baylinorcrush says:

If I miss any I’m sure to be dog meat, LOL.

  15. stevecan2 says:

the ko crowd has consistently blamed the d for our woes. some are just smart enough to lay off the anti tebow rhetoric.

we are 1 and 4 because we failed to score more points than the other team. during our sb years we were not wining games 10 to 0, etc. so now with a dynamic qb in tebow, lets hope the trend of not scoring is over.

the packers, the best team in the league, also does not win games by a margain of 10 to 0. the only thing to turn us around is by putting points on the board.

  16. stevecan2 says:

the thing I laughed at yesterday was reading, not even tebow could sell out the stands. my goodness, a gator in the hurricanes own house just sold 10k tickets. yet what is said, he couldn’t sell it out. that sums it up for me, the anti tebow or the strict pro ko camp will never let tebow be human.

  17. sndvl says:

Stevcan2, that surprising coming from you. If you’d had read completely, that was my response to baylin when he jabbed- ” how many tickets would KO have sold”

  18. brian_schneider says:

Orton would’ve sold about 10k or maybe even more because the Dolphins fans would’ve came out in droves to see the Dolphins get their first win of the season. LOL!

  19. sndvl says:

It’s pretty funny how Champ is on both sides of the Orton/Tebow thing.

I wonder where he really stands?

OC. Who said anything about a pity party. As a blog vet, you should know better than that. Just sayin.
Funny how I’m labeled pro-Orton/anti Tebow. Guess that’s the effect. If you’re not a total believer…you’re anti.
Same stupid problem that starts wars because of ones beliefs…

  20. sndvl says:

Thanks for proving my point Brian. Like I said last night…even the all mighty couldn’t sell it out.

    I’ll bet the pope would!

  21. rayjr26 says:

ok… i think its safe to say that most teams are looking at us and expecting a whole lot of McGahee… i say, first play after the free kick, we dial up a long one! Go play action, and send someone deep! Then just let Tebow chuck it out there! even if its not a completion we put Miami’s D on their heels. Basically im just hoping the dont turn us into a 1 dimensional Offense! That is REALLY my biggest fear at this point. Heck Tebow is DEFINATELY going to have some bad throws, and some picks, but you CAN NOT keep him from stretching the field or we will be getting killed! They will stack the box, jam our guys at the line, and we will see a lot of 3 and outs. So really what im asking is….. DONT BE PREDICTABLE MC COY!! Lets surprise everyone and come out slinging it!!
    Go Broncos!
THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES

  22. sndvl says:

I imagine this is exactly why the locker room is somber.

    The Tebow sideshow.

  23. brian_schneider says:

sndvl: Don’t feel bad that’s unfortunately how it is with everthing not just on these blogs. If you don’t support the troops your anti-Patriotic, if you don’t support the government your anti-American, if you don’t support the lazy, free loafing, jobless pieces of crap that take advantage of our hard earned tax dollars you anti-caring.

  24. sndvl says:

    Lol Brian. I’m laughing again…

  25. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

    Brian –

I have to say that is the funniest thing I have read in a while.

It seems lately there are no middle grounds with pro/anti.

  26. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

I really want to elaborate but the Air Force frowns on making judgements about my boss….

  27. seweatherman1 says:

It is time to RELEASE THE BEAST!!!!!

  28. brian_schneider says:

It’s kind of scary, with no middle ground on issues everyone will seem like an extremist. I think it has to do with everyone jumping on their conclusion mat too soon. It’s like when you say “oh I really don’t like this” or “I don’t like how they did that” everyone jumps on you being anti-(insert word here). I’m not entirely sure why it is like that. Maybe with our society and technology expansion everything is becoming more and more technological based. The base form of technology is 1’s and 0’s..binary. Those are the only two things that it can be a 1 or a 0. You know those movies where they computers rule the world, it’s not a movie it’s reality. Technology and computers are making humans perform and act just like them, you’re either a 1 or a 0, you’re either a Pro-(insert word here) or you’re an Anit-(insert word here). Don’t give into the machines!!!!!

  29. baylinorcrush says:

How do we go from Anti Tebow to starting wars, LMAO.

  30. brian_schneider says:

    *Anti*

  31. DenverOranges says:

    Longest bye week EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, better get to this game pronto before a war breaks out!

  33. gobroncoswin says:

    Rahim is right:
Dolphins are better than what their record show..

    go broncos!

  34. WieminCA says:

Technology sure has changed things … I used to try to listen through the static to get the Broncos games … now you can get every game on DirectTV, or go to the casino and watch with the other idiots – everybody’s team is up there, so the place is packed … and now you know everybody’s opinion, the minute they express it … like here … and it doesn’t really mean very much … like – if McD hadn’t drafted TT, this Sunday would be like any other Sunday … actually, I’m tired of “us” looking good while losing, so if TT can bring us wins, I’m all for it … just don’t expect too much, too soon … we’ve got an awful schedule ahead, and if we lose this Sunday, things aren’t pretty … enjoying TT scrambling all over the field, only to lose, DOESN’T CUT IT … just saying …

  35. brian_schneider says:

In my opinion 1 win versus 0 wins doesn’t give us the right to overlook an opponent, we can’t overlook ANY opponent regardless of their record.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

new injury report blog up, good news all around but for Julius.

  37. brian_schneider says:

It’s interesting because everyone was saying “one game doesn’t make a season” however if Tebow doesn’t win this game they’ll all have the “one game does make Tebow’s career fail” mentality. There’s going to be growing pains that’s just the way it is, that’s they ways it’s been and that’s the way it will always be. Remember the growing pains we had with Cutler??

  38. imready says:

sndvl, what a lot of guys here don’t seem to understand that is what being a teammate is all about. They truly play for each other, they care about each other and they support each other whether the guy is playing like a house on fire or down in the dumps. Champ Bailey is probably telling us exactly the way he feels about both guys and may tell you the same thing about most of his teammates. That one of the major attractions to playing team sports, the comradery. Now the rotten guys who don’t work hard,do things that hurt the team and could care less , that’s a different story.
brian_schneider, sounds like it’s time for your medication or a belt of Whiskey might do. LOL

  39. strandoftds says:

I`m looking forward to the game. It`s Tebows time, FINALLY!!

  40. badluck727 says:

Us fans only see Tebow on TV or at a game. The teamates see him just about every day. So if there are players who have doubts that he can be a quality QB at this point in his career. Dont you think they know better then we do?

  41. strandoftds says:

Badluck, not only are you in left field but your also in the foul area. You Ortonites had your glory under the sun, now it`s time to watch a real QB take the field and get the job done. Tim Tebow will have a successful weekend at QB against the phins. You just sit back and watch. The Dolphins suck anyway, no contest really.

  42. strandoftds says:

This game will be fun to watch but next weekends game will be a true test for Tebow. The game against the Lions will be a real doozy!!

  43. tnalen66 says:

well this is a tough pick cuz i usually stick w/ history( 0-7 in Miami )and the MNF loser usually wins the next game even we got our only win after a MNF lost.BUT i will say Broncos 22 Phins 20. I will most likely be kicking my self for not going w/ My gut and history.

  44. eternalorangeandblue says:

Hey, it could be worse. He could be super mormon or something

  45. BeastFromEast92 says:

    2-6……play hard bro!!!
    You will be all pro!!!!!!!!

  46. #1 COWBOY HATER says:

Hope all you TEBOW fans are happy!!!! What a FREAKIN JOKE!!!!!!!! put ORTON back in at least we score with him!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. pokoya says:

Up next Detroit. I look to their overtime win against the Vikings as the blueprint to use for their game plan, and I expect it to remain consistent. In other words, I expect their game plan to be: Shut down the run. Screens and checkdowns in short yardage situations. Shorter wide receiver routes, to facilitate a quick pitch and catch offense to move the ball, with a mind to open things up by spreading the ball around to different receivers. When (Tight end) Pettigrew starts getting the ball, the Lions will expect coverage to be forced to the middle, leaving (wide receiver) Calvin open one on one on the outside. What I expect to be variable, is how much of the ground game Detroit will utilize, depending on what kind of success they find running the ball against the Broncos.
