Ready for Rehab

August 14th, 2008 - 6:52pm by Ryan Torain

So I was a little disappointed I didn’t get to get out there with my teammates and practice against the Cowboys these past two days. That’s an experience you don’t get all the time. I did get the chance to grab a chair and sit outside the building near the sideline and watch the first day of practice, though. It was the first time I’ve seen another NFL team and it was pretty fun to watch.

I have to admit it was pretty cool seeing players like T.O. and Romo out there in person running around, running routes. But I’ve got to get used to it and not get star struck, because I know that this is that type of league where you’re going to see big names every week.

So I guess I’ll update you all on how everything’s been in the past week. A lot has happened. I had surgery on Friday, and I was laid up for a couple of days. Everything went really well. They got me into a little brace instead of a cast, which is nice.

When I first went to the hospital, it wasn’t nervewrecking or anything, I was just ready to get it over with. Going to the hospital is always an experience, though. A lot of people said, “Good luck.” I’m like, good luck? Why are you wishing me good luck? I’ll be fine, I’ll be back in a couple hours, I’m just going to get my arm fixed. It wasn’t too bad, I was just anxious to be done with it all. I didn’t even have my mom fly out. I told her to go ahead and relax and stay home. She was already buying tickets for the Houston game and everything, so I told her just to drive to the game and enjoy herself.

This week has just been about rest for me. Greek gave me some time off to heal up, relax, gather my thoughts and just get ready for some treatment. All of that will start next week. I’m not sure everything that’s going to go into it, but it will probably just be some rotation stuff — starting to bend it.

The doctors said they’re just going to keep working on my rotation. Basically I’m just going to get my strength up again, and in the mean time I’m going to start conditioning and stay in my playbook, so that by the time I’m 100 percent I can get back on that field right away and already be up to speed.

I’ve been checking out the comments on the blog, and I really appreciate all the support. I’ve been getting fan mail a little bit here and there as well, a lot of it my friends and family just wishing me the best. I don’t take any of it for granted. I’m just staying positive, staying focused and I know it will all work out.

To the fans: Don’t forget about me. I’m coming back 100 percent, and I’m going to do big things.

Check in with you next week.

I can’t wait to see you back in the backfield, if your game is as good as your blocking then defenses beware. Once you went down there was many reports saying you may have likely been the starter, as well as the TD comparison your head coach pulled. I’d imagine that must have felt pretty good. Do you spend any time reading blogs others have written about you in camp? Thanx for the great posts!

    I meant blogging not “blocking”

As a lifetime Bronco fan, it is really refreshing to see a rookie come in with such a great attitude and love for the game. Your early dedication to this organization is something I would hope for in any Bronco. We have a great team, and I am super pumped to have a player of your ability and character representing my favorite team.

If you care to look at the Broncos forum, you’ll see that you may be the most hyped rookie in the Denver draft and everyone is excited about watching you play. Take care of the arm, do the rehab and do only the things they tell you so there isn’t an accidental set-back – the Broncos and the fans will be here when you’re back on the field. Hang tough.
