Ladies and gentlemen, the time has (possibly) come.
All I know is I’m most definitely excited to get on the field if Coach calls my name. Like I’ve been saying, I’ve got to be ready if it happens, and right now I know I will be.
Over the bye week, as you all know, I just stayed a couple extra days and conditioned, working out with Coach Tuten. I did some more rehab and studied my playbook — just did a couple of extra things to get right. Get my mind right and my body right. I did have some time to relax though, on Saturday and Sunday, then we were back in here on Monday.
I have noticed one change, though. More and more reporters are coming to my locker during open locker room. It went from having maybe one person come and talk with me to having every camera in the place all gathered around me. It’s not overwhelming or anything like that, though. I’m just answering the questions, telling them what’s going on. The question that’s been asked the most is, “Are you getting playing time?” or “Are you starting?” I can’t answer either of those. Both of those are a game time decision. I don’t know yet, so I’ve just got to stay patient, stay on my Ps and Qs and be ready for everything that could possibly be thrown my way. Then I can go out there and have some fun.
Speaking of reporters, Mike Pittman’s locker is beside mine, and I hear reporters asking him about me occasionally. He’s been real cool, always having my back and kind of lifting me up as I get back closer to the field. He’s a true professional. I’ve been saying since day one, I just kind of listen a lot. I don’t ask a lot of questions. I don’t irritate people. I just kind of watch and listen, and I especially just watch how Mike Pittman carries himself. He is most definitely a guy I can learn from, just the way he goes about his business, and you can see what his results are like on the field, too.
I’ve noticed some of you coming up with nicknames for me. The Train. ATV: The All-Torain Vehicle. I like them all. Throughout college, guys called me so many different kinds of names. Everybody’s trying to make something up, but those are similar to the names that have been used in the past. I’m OK with either one of those, most definitely. It’s whatever you all feel is best. I’ll roll with it.
Somebody asked me last week what I can bring to the offense. One word: excitement. Just that want-to-be-out-there. I want to have a good time. Because I know I’m going to be enthusiastic when I’m out there, so hopefully I rub off on everybody and we’re just all out there making huge plays. Then build from that and win the game.
The Dolphins are up next at our house, and like I’ve said all along, and even before in this blog — if Coach calls my name, I’ll be ready. See you all at the game.

I think this speaks for all of Broncos Country when I say… WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ON THAT FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back, I can’t wait to see you explode out on that field. I think there’s a pretty good chance you’ll get your name called so if you’re ready, us fans are more than ready. I know I’ve been waiting for this for a LOOOOOOOONG time.
Run them fishies over… ATV: All-Torain Vehicle, I love that!!!
I’m sure they’d make a great celebration dinner afterwards!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!
cant wait to see your first carry
Can’t wait man, I will be there (like always), and hope to see you out there and live up to your nickname “The Train”. Hopefully you get to punch in a TD, and we will see that Mile High Salute. Welcome back, can’t wait!
Awesome! I’ve been waiting all year for this!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!
Hey, good luck. I watched you at arizona state, and i thougt you looked real good then, go out and truck joey porter for me, alright?
Hey All-Torain,
If you get the chance, I’d like to see you steam-role all up and over number 55. Don’t need to say a word to him. Just go back to the huddle and then do it again the very next time you get the ball. If you get the cance, I’d appreciate it very much.
Good luck. Good to have you back and healthy.
Peace.
Ryan…..everyone is pumped up because we are die hard Bronco fans and have been waiting for a true back since TD. Someone who will carry this team to another championship on there back. I know its a lot of pressure but just do what you do best. Run hard. Pittman runs hard and thats what we love about him but you have the special skills we have been waiting for. You are our T-rain and we are ready to hop aboard. It would be awesome for the announcers on sunday to play a train noise everytime you run for a touchdown and firstdown. That would be sick….West Coast
No pressure, just go out there play the game you love and it will all work out. I don’t expect a 300 yard 5TD game (would be nice) I just wana see that back who cuts back into the field, doesn’t take the hit but delivers it and falls foward to keep the chains moving. Fresh legs right on time good luck let’s get a W.
Joey Porter’s had a nice season. Nevertheless, All-Torain vehicle you can mow him over plenty of times. The Dolphins will give us a good look, but we’re better and you’re going to be one of the many reasons why. Keep it up, Ryan. It’s great having you in Bronco Country!
What up! We are most def ready to ride the Torain Train to Tampa : ) We just need that 1 tough yard man. That 2nd down and 4yards to go. I hoped you watched the film from the super bowl years because I see one big difference with our running game then and now. T.D. could stretch the toss all the way to the side line and maybe only get 2, 4, 5 yards but the threat of stretching it to the side line is what makes the Mike and Sam backer over commit and make that beautiful Bronco cut back lane. The last couple years it seems like the running backs didn’t take that 1 run outside and everyone has studied so much film on the Broncos stretch that they would cut back and there would be 2 or 3 defenders in the “Cut Back.” All it takes is one run that you fake that cut back (as discreet as a QB pumps only his shoulder for double move pass) and take it outside. Then they are right where you want them…under committing…over committing. Bye the end of the game they will need new shoes : ) lol! I wonder if T.D. ever told the line when he was going to fake it inside?
Thank you so much for your time with all of us! You deserve all the good things coming your way! First game of the new 8 game season! First snap of a HOF career! One down at a time : ) Once again it is on!!
Please tell Bates to run the toss early? Never know unless you ask right?
We need you ATV, we need you. Miami will run the ball all day long, so we need you to keep our defence off the field.
Hey Man it’s good to hear your ready to rumble a bit it’s time to start winning, We beleive in you and this team!!! GO Broncos
Hey ATV (I like that one too, props to whoever came up with it), just remember man, HOLD ON TO THE ROCK. A lot of us fans are pumped to see you on the field and what you will bring to the offense.
From a lot of things Ive heard etc:
Hold on to the Rock number one
Keep your vision (to press the hole while looking for the cutback lane).
Good luck man, hope you play I wont be able to see it because in the Mid-west we only get the exciting Chiefs games (I was being sarcastic with the exciting part).
YYEEAAAHHH BOOYYY get on that field n stomp on them fools. damn i cant wait
All aboard! Ryan- everyone’s going to be tuning in on Sunday to see what you are all about. I know I won’t be missing the big debut. Congratulations reaching this point. The Denver Broncos are going to have the most potent offense in the NFL.
Good luck Ryan. Now is when all the hard work starts to pay off. Go get yours. Hit Porter so hard we feel it here in Tempe!
YAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!! I am sooooo excited…I’ve been waitin for the time I get to see you out on that field. I cant wait to see you tear it up!!!
Ryan, Here is to you stepping up when coach calls your number! Hold on to the ball and know we fans are going to hold on for one fun ride! Can’t wait to see what you can do out there.
Broncos all the way baby! I dont care what anybody says we are going all the way. Every body who is hating on Shannahan better shut up. With out Shannahan who knows where this organization would be. Torain u are a beast!!!!!!
Ryan “The Train” Torain!!!
I hope you give us fans the Mile High Salute when you score your first Touchdown!!!
Shanahan is so tight lipped about his starting runningbacks, who knows if Torain will be the feature back or just get his feet wet. In training camp Shanny fell in love with his skill set, but that was then. He compared him to the great T.D.!! That is high praise. With Selvin Young healthy and Pittman running so hard, it might be hard to find Torain many carries. Best case scenario: Torain gets the starting nod, holds onto the ball and bangs out a hard earned 100 yds and a TD on 20 carries. That would earn him the job. We really need a big time back instead of this platoon crap. That would keep the opposing ‘D’ honest and help open up the passing game. We can beat the Fins, but we are not playing team football. We are shaky at CB and this will be valuable experience for a young guy like Jack Williams. A team win in this game will go a long way.
Yup go ATV!!!!
I’ll be rooting for you @ Invesco, no pressure, just do what you do…run the defenders over!
GO RYAN!!!! PLEASE TRUCK-STICK JOEY PORTER AND BRING BACK THE MILE HIGH SALUTE YOUR A BEAST
Broncos4Bailyey24…
How can you say the guy is a beast when he has done nil this year so far. Let is be realistic here…. Miami is looking pretty good right now. If Shanny does not pull us out of nosedive we need to consider other opps.
He’s a beast because his type of running is perfect for the running scheme of the Bronco’s. This is the gem Shanahan has been looking for. It might be a mistake, but I’ve even activated him on my fantasy roster!
I hope so much that you are able to play tomorrow!! I think the offense needs a spark if excitement!! If you don’t get in there I’ll be bummed. You’ll probably hear all of Colorado roar when you get in…whether itss tomorrow or Thursday. Speaking of Thursday…how do you guys prepare for a short week? How much will the bye week help you guys going right into a shorter week? See you Sunday!!
Just hold onto the ball!!!!!
Hey Ryan!!!! The Fam is geared up for tomorrow … no pressure …. just do what you do … I just love the fans enthusiasm … its great encouragement for ya …. I KNOW you’ll do your best if and when The Train is called …keep the faith!!! … your passion for the game and the good Lord will carry you …. I am so excited …. LOVE yOU!
GO TRAIN!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!! Grammies BAADLADYBRONCO
Ok Ryan, today is the day! You will remember this day for a long time. I think I speak for all of us devoted, very long time bronco fans. Did somebody say “Terrell Davis”? It looks like TD. Oh my it’s a “freight train”!
We’ve waited a long time for another TD, and man you are it. Take every opportunity you get today and make the best of it. What ever happens today, just have fun! We are excited for you, and I will there.
GO Broncos! GO Freighttrain!
Yehhhhhh boiiiiiiiii!
And the debacle continues 4-4, Thank you Shanahan. Go home its time
I told you all we would lose by 10 points.. we lost by 9. Cutler throwing the white flag, give me a break!! A bad call from the referee deal with it ……. no time for crying. A very bad game for him and it seems everyday that he becomes more and more less like John elway. Deal with it…… Win the game. Throw 5 ints but if you win then who cares. WE WILL FINISH 8 AND 8. It will all come down to the SD game at the end of the year and we will get pummelled. Call me a raider fan or a SD FAN. I am a realist…. take it or leave it. I LOVE THE BRONCOS!!!
I also told you all that Torian would have 5 carries. He had five and was very unimpressive. The D was good, cutler again gave them a short field. Jay Cutler is a whiner, and a cry baby. Win or shut up.
Hey Ryan, you did fine. No one expected 150 yards in your first game, we were all just happy to see you back on the field. Just keep workin at getting to 100%, it looks like we’re gonna need you now that Andre Hall and Michael Pittman are out.
Oh could you tell Jay to calm down? He’s still the man, and everyone supports him and wants him to do well. The whole city of Denver is just frustrated right now.
That’s alright …. it’s okay … we’ve just gotten started anyway!!!! I ain’t sang yet ,,,, yeah I’m a fat lady!! Shanny knows what he’s doing ….. The Train was reserved for later use on the tracks …. didn’t expect Ryan to “blow the whistle” first time ….real NFL game …… don’t however question his potential GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m with ya alllll the way …. make me sing!!!! Love you Ryan Grammies

You know I am really glad that we didnt have this media interaction and lack of “give it a bit o Time” attitude when 1983 rolled around. I would have hated to see Elways reaction to this kind of negative downtrodden comments when He considered QUITTING! he first three or four years in the backfield of Broncos Nation. I think it is a must to draft a player and get to using him. this sit him on the bench and let him absorbe it attitude will not work in the nfl. Every QB that has had this training time, has failed or become nothing more than a back up.
Cutler is a great QB, But he is still in the molding and making. The recievers are great and will be great. WIth Young and torain, the runnign game will get its feet back under itself and willstart running(given the chance to run)
Maybe we need to be more supportive and if one is going to be critical, be mad at some of the play calling. IS Rick Dennison calling the plays.? I never understood a defensive person being in charge of the offensive. Defensive coaches are defensive minded, and offensive coaches are offensive minded. WHat needs to happen is SHanahan needs to map out the whole game plan(not just the first 15 plays like old times) and then adjust them as the game goes on.
LIsten to me, its not broke, it dont need fixed, it just needs tweek’d.
Hey Ryan,
I saw you’re getting the start tonight at Cleveland. Good luck to you and the whole team. It will be great to see the running game get going and I think that will definitely translate into more wins.
I know you probably won’t see this before gametime, but just want to know we’re all pulling for you – and the rest of the team, of course.
Don
Ryan-
I’m sorry the game and your performance didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to on Sunday. It did not look there were any lanes open, whether it was you, or Pittman, or Hall.
I just wanted to tell you that we are all still very excited to watch you play and believe you are going to develop into a special playmaker for the Broncos.
May the Lord bless you, and keep you healthy!
Way to go Ryan! Good job! I must have replayed that TD ten times watching you plow through all that weight ,,,,, what a guy ,,,,, I prayed you weren okay ….. and your Dad assured me you were per your call to him after the game he said you advised on a scale of pain 1-10 you advised you were only at one …Go Broncos …. We Won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grammies

you are the best running back ever and i hope to see you next year and i hpoe that you will help this wonderful team make it to the superbowl and eventually be the number one team in the nation
