Rahim Moore Rookie Blog

September 10th, 2011 - 1:51pm by Rahim Moore

Editor’s Note: This season, DenverBroncos.com will feature two player blogs. Along with Willis McGahee, Rahim Moore will check in with a new post every week. Below is his first entry of the season.

Hey fans, it’s Rahim. Don’t call me Rahim Moore. Call me Rahim the Dream. Or you can call me 2-6.

About me, I’m a Christian. I’m a prayer warrior — I put all my faith in God. I’m one of the most down-to-earth people in the world.

I’ll tell you a little inside secret. The other day, these two little girls at this store, they recognized me. They were big-time Broncos fans. I was buying shoes and they were looking at the shoes they wanted, and they said, “Aw, these shoes are too much.” So I went and bought the shoes for the little girls.

It’s all love. That’s pretty much it.

I’m looking forward to this Monday. I’m looking forward to being part of the history of the Broncos playing against the Raiders. Hopefully we go out there and give the fans what they deserve, which is a W. I tip my hat to the Raiders because they’re a great organization. They have a great running back and they’re a great team.

We’re looking forward to the challenge as a team. Let the games begin.

  8. strandoftds says:

Hey Rahim, I`m a big fan of yours. I was hoping we`d draft you because we needed a great young talented Safety. When we picked you my mouth hit the floor. I was awestruck. Have an awesome rookie seaon. By the way, I`m a believer also, God Bless!

  9. Broncownage says:

Super excited to have you on the team Dream! It’s really cool to hear about your faith and what you did for those girls.

Anyways, keep hitting hard dude! Don’t let any fine hinder you. Keep smashing guys at 110%! Can’t wait to see you knock the black and silver out of the Faders on Monday!!!

(Oh, and I might just have to call you “Rahim the Mangling Machine” instead)

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

  10. strandoftds says:

Also I am originally from southern Cal and now lived in Colorado for 21 years. I can sure go for a In N Out Burger right now. LOL! I do know you don`t do fast food, so all in fun. Once again have a awesome season. Get some pick 6`s.

  11. strandoftds says:

Oh and Rahim, we all know that that was a clean hit against the Seahawks. Hold your head up high regardless of those horrible calls.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

Rahim, after the Monday night game you will probably forget all the love that you have had for the Raiders growing up, am I off or is it the case? Anyhow looking forward to watch you prove to us that you are indeed the dream, listen to Dawk and you’ll be fine.

  13. BroncWild says:

    Hey Dream,
I hope that you’ll be a nightmare for every opposing offense that we face this year.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  14. hometeam007 says:

    2-6
Is that for the 2 pick 6′s you plan to get every game? lol… I joke but i am sure you are capable; just believe in yourself and get it done!!!

Agree with everyone else here about the fine, let it roll off, and move on! I will let you in on a secret too. Acts of kindness always give the back more to the one giving, especially when nobody else knows about it but God. :)

    The Crush is Back!!!

By the way, is the team coming up with a new name for this defense?

  15. royalbroncofan1 says:

Welcome to Broncos Country – Rahim the Dream!
Nice random act of kindness with the children, Rahim. I’m sure they’ll never forget that.
We are so pumped and looking forward to seeing you guys take the field come Monday Night!!
It’s a new year, but one thing you’ll learn quick is Bronco fans can’t stand the Raiders!! Great that you gave them props, but come Monday night, time to strap up and lay the wood out there !!!

    Have a great rookie season!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. imready says:

Broncos have had a long tradition of safties that could lay a hit on the opposition. You have Broncos fans excited again about the safty position and have one of the greatest safties of all time to learn from. Make the most of this season, next year Dawk may retire and you will be the leader! Hit some Raiders Monday night, trust us Bronco fans, they got it coming to them! Go Broncos!

  17. atwaters da man says:

yo 26 keep hitting em hard! I was surprised you came out of the game after that clean hit against the Bills. With the tradition here in Denver we needs someone to lay the wood. Atwater, D Smith, Lynch, Dawkins. If we get a 15 yard penalty every once and while it is worth it.

  18. bfree2bronc says:

Welcome 2-6, and don’t worry about the big hits, Mr Elway has a checkbook waiting. Good luck and God bless you and the Broncos this season…

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Anyway, are we trying to break the blog record in a day? LOL, forget about keeping up, good thing most the predictions are in, what a job that would be otherwise…

Remember, deadline for season record predictions is tonight midnight blog time, and deadline for Raider game score predictions tomorrow same time.

  20. xray says:

Good to have you. Cant wait to see what you bring to the team. Just remember trust your team, play fast, play hard, and dont let anyone get to you. You are apart of a great team with a fan base that will go in and fight for you. Make us proud and let those Raiders know that every yard comes with punishment.

  21. Timmy Rios says:

Welcome to the Broncos. May you have many INT’s and TD’s. May your Orange Crush your Opponents!! May you be our new Atwater!!

  22. 07elway says:

This is so awesome, so glad to have a few players blog with the fans again.

Welcome to the best NFL organization, Rahim! Such a sweet thing you did for those 2 girls, so awesome to know you’re a Christian… we need more people like you in the world! ;)

Do us fans proud and show NO mercy on the Raiders… they don’t deserve it. lol

GO BRONCOS 2011!!! I cannot wait for Monday night!

  23. hometeam007 says:

    Baylin.
My predictions for our season….10W-6L and for Monday night…. Broncos 30- Raiders 20.

I have to have faith in getting back to a 10 win year. Come on Broncos!!!!

  24. GeneSimmonsTung says:

    Mr. 26

Congrats and welcome to the Denver Broncos! I hope you have a great season with no injuries! Wreak havoc on our enemies and have a great time doing it!!!

    GO BRONCOS

  25. baylinorcrush says:

Funny thing is since that Rahim hit on the sidelines, everyone wants him to lay the wood, and so do I, but Crater is the one of the two who really lays the wood, while Moore has never had that reputation. One hit will do wonders….

This is some of the assesments about him prior to the draft:

Pros: Rahim Moore’s best attributes are his instincts and his hands which make him a dangerous ball hawk. He’s excellent at breaking on the ball , especially on deep routes, and has receiver hands to pick it off. His specialty is zone coverage. He was a 3 year starter at UCLA, never missing a single game since the day he stepped on campus, and ended his collegiate career with 14 interceptions. Moore also has good straight-line speed and very fluid hips.

Cons: While Moore may have had 14 careers interceptions 10 of those came during his sophomore campaign, with only one coming in his junior, and final, year. Many feel as though Moore is a bit of a one-year wonder. Most of the discrepancy comes from UCLA playing him closer to the line of scrimmage during his junior year and the rest comes from QB’s avoiding throwing into his area of the field. It’s also worth noting that Moore was working under the tutelage of Carnell Lake during his 10 pick year in 2009. Lake left after that lone season in Westwood.

Moore is also not an explosive tackler. While he employs a good overall wrap-up technique, because of his lack of strength he’ll never be known as a vicious hitter. He also has trouble shedding blocks in the run game. And for all his skills in zone coverage his ability to play man-to-man is a little lacking. When assigned to cover the slot he’ll often times get burned while trying to read the QB’s eyes.

Wonder what you think of all that Rahim, but overall it sounds good to me even so you may never be a hard hitter like Atwater, Dennis Smith or Lynch, maybe Carter can pick up that end of things once Dawk is done, that’s more how I see it anyway.

  26. baylinorcrush says:

This was the lowdown on Quinton Carter:

    Pros
•Tackling machine. 88+ tackles each of the past 2 seasons
•Sure tackler. Wraps up and drives the ball carrier into the ground
•Great instincts, diagnoses plays very quickly
•Heavy hitter, will deliver the knockout blow
•Has good ball skills. Finds the ball in the air quickly, and has good hands
•Takes very good angles to the ball
•Plays with fire and intensity, very good on-field leader
    Cons
    •Speed is below average (4.62 40)
•Stiff hips, has a hard time transitioning out of his back pedal. High pad level
•Overly aggressive at times and will get burned
    •Man coverage skills are poor
•Will be restricted to mostly playing underneath. Will need to be paired with a center fielder

    Overall
Quinton Carter profiles as an “In the Box” safety who is excellent in run support and is a tackling machine, but he is very inconsistent in pass coverage, which definitely knocks his draft stock. He is very effective in his role as somebody who attacks everything underneath, will make tackles at the line of scrimmage, and drop the hammer regularly on receivers who run over the middle. The question with Carter will be if he can improve enough in coverage to not be a liability. His 40 time at the Combine was 4.62, which obviously is bad for a defensive back, and he also seems to be very stiff in the hips, and has a tough time turning and running with receivers. He will never be great in pass coverage, but he needs to just be average, so as not to be a liability. If he can add some coverage skills to his run stopping skills, he could be a 100+ tackle a season guy, but if he doesn’t he will be nothing more than a special teams player.

So you can see their skill sets are radically different and it’s as if they could compliment eachother perfectly and it’s no wonder they both got drafted by the same team as between the two of them you may end up with the best safety combo possible, anyhow, long ways to go but interesting stuff to me.

  27. hometeam007 says:

    Nice pull Baylin

    A little off the subject;
But can anyone tell me why the broncos didn’t put Ty Warren on the injured reserve list and go get another DT off waivers? Other than money? Is there no players available?

  28. Katiegirl998 says:

    Hello,
Welcome to the Broncos! Keep up your faith; keep going to church. I am so proud of you and excited that you have gotten to the top! It’s a great responsibility and a super blessing. I am a Colorado native who is doing medical research in Alabama now; I sure miss those mountains! I watch as much football as I can, I’ll be expecting some great plays!
    Have fun!
    Katie

  29. baylinorcrush says:

Beacuse they think he can be back in December for a run to the playoffs, I’m dead serious.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

Rahim’s blog has all the potential to become a religious blog, haha/jk.

  31. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Bay – my record prediction is 8-8 if it’s not too late!

  32. baylinorcrush says:

No, you made it with 4 hours to spare.

  33. camharland says:

    Rahim,
It’s very encouraging to see that we have another good character player playing for our beloved Broncos! The sky is the limit for you!
    Hulk smash! Go Broncos!

  34. ziggy's revenge says:

Good Luck Raheem – hope 2-6 turns out as well as 2-7 and 4-9 – you certainly appear to be that kind of package. We love hard hitting safeties in Denver!

  35. eternalorangeandblue says:

Go get em Mr. Moore! A gentleman off the field, a wrecking ball on sundays. Thats the way we like em here in Broncos country!

  36. eternalorangeandblue says:

oh and my season prediction is 7-9

  37. eternalorangeandblue says:

3rd AFC west behind 8-8 raiders and 13-3 chargers. chiefs finish last with a dismal record of 4-12

  38. eternalorangeandblue says:

and we sweep the chargers this year and split with oakland and KC

  39. eternalorangeandblue says:

overall, way more competitive in our own division, which is a huge step forward. But we just cant pull out wins against some of the elite teams yet. but we will compete with them for 60 minutes.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

We sweep the Chargers! Is that all? LOL.

  41. eternalorangeandblue says:

Hey, it would be the first time since 2005. We are to do it sometime and we may just turn out to be the only blemish on their schedule. But worry not, they will either lose again in the AFC championship game or in the Super Bowl vs Green Bay

  42. Mikeyb1203 says:

I’m sorry but I just cannot see the Chargers going to the super bowl. Every year they are expected to do big things and every year they fail to accomplish any of them. I am willing to bet that they don’t win the division this year again, Phillip Rivers may be good but I don’t believe he is as Elite as Peyton Manning, Drew Breese, or Tom Brady. And I definitely don’t believe he has the ability to put his team on his back and carry them to the superbowl. Look at the Chargers last year they were 1st in offense and 1st in defense and couldn’t even make it to the play offs. You give any of the quarterbacks I mentioned above and not only are they winning the superbowl they are most likely going to do it undefeated.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

Lay a bet on that in Vegas Mikey since all the oddmakers favor the Chargers to win our division so you could be a rich man, but then again they might take all your money, haha.

  44. baylinorcrush says:

But you are probably just willing to bet your honor?

  45. Mikeyb1203 says:

Lol, yes just my honor since most of my money goes to bill. I don’t have to much to bet lol. But just curious on what the odds were?

  46. baylinorcrush says:

Odds of winning the AFC West:

    San Diego Chargers
    -250

    Kansas City Chiefs
    +450

    Oakland Raiders
    +600

    Denver Broncos
    +1000

  47. Atwater4HOF says:

Welcome to the team Rahim the Dream!

So happy that McGahee and Moore were chosen for the blogs (I saw it on twitter I think 5 days ago)

Moore has flown under the radar with all the love for Von Miller. Starter from the 1st depth chart, hoping he can give us that ball hawking presence that we have missed in the past… well decade lol.

To be a successful team we need to win the turnover margin, can’t wait to see Moore contributing on Monday.

  48. Al Wilson 4 Mayor says:

    Rahim-

    I’m 39, so excuse me if I bi-pass the nicknames. :0)

Congratulations on being selected by the Broncos. I’m excited to you see you guys out there for the first game.

It’s really cool to see so many believers like you, B-Dawk and Tebow on the team. It looks like the Lord is up to somethin’ in the state of Colorado.

    Dennis in Idaho

  49. bigchamb1 says:

Hey superstar I like your attitude and how you introduce yourself. I believe the hit in the Buffalo game set a cornerstone for you, and I believe it was a legal hit. Let me tell you though that in this town, there is one safety that should be in the hall of fame that is not. His name is Steve Atwater, and he is the greatest safety to have ever played the game. I pray that you learn from Wolverine about play recognitions and how to open the hips, but if you bring the wood like Atwater did; oh boy. I think you can do it, but you need to prove to this town you can. See ya on Monday.

  50. baylinorcrush says:

The players blogging are getting guys to post I have never seen before, a whole bunch of them, it’s like I’m on the wrong blog, haha.
