Preparing for the Colts

September 25th, 2007 - 5:43pm by domonique_foxworth

Tough loss. No one really likes losing; it’s hard to deal with. You work a full week to get ready for the game, and all the time the coaches have put in to get your game plan, the time the players put in to practice the game plan, and to come out on Sunday and not execute as well as we expect is tough. Some encouraging things, we obviously have a talented team, a good team, because as poorly as we played, it still came down to the final minutes of the game. We were still within six points with four minutes to go and we had the ball, we just weren’t able to pull it out.

It was another frustrating week for me. I did not play, once again, but I got a little closer to playing, because I actually had on pads. But that actually might have made it more difficult to deal with, whereas the week before I just had on a sweat suit. I think my ankle was in good enough condition to play, but the coaches said I would only come in in case of emergency, which it got kind of close there with John Lynch getting hurt and a few other things happening. I almost got to play, but I definitely, 100 percent, expect to play this week against the Colts, which we are all looking forward to.

I think our team matches up well against the defending champs. I think where their strengths are is in their passing game, where our strengths are in our passing defense, with all the talent that we have in the secondary. We’ve definitely improved our pass rush with Elvis Dumervil, who’s just a one-man pass rush. He makes our lives a lot easier, and he’s consistent with it, which we really appreciate. After watching the film today, we’re able to put that game behind us and move on, because it’s a long season.

But Elvis is one of the players that stood out to me. He’s one of the really quality young players that we have on this team, which is encouraging. I guess he doesn’t get a lot of credit, because he’s not very big and he really doesn’t look like a D-lineman. We make fun of him sometimes and say he looks like a linebacker from the MEAC, which is the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, a college football conference. So we just mess with him, but even though we joke with him, we definitely appreciate him being here, and I’ve told him several times to keep up the good work and thanks for his hard work. So everybody keep your eye out for No. 92. He does a great job.

Like I said before, the Colts are the defending champs, and we really look forward to the opportunity to match up against them. We think our offense has been playing really well, which in order to play well against the Colts defensively, I think it’s important that our offense does well and gives you some support points-wise, and gives you some time to rest. Because with the Colts and their no-huddle style, you don’t really get time to rest, because you’re working mentally the entire time trying to figure out what they’re thinking and what they’re doing. It’s kind of exhausting.

This will be my first time really playing against the Colts. I played the preseason game my rookie year that we won against the Colts, and then the following year, which was last season, we played the Colts and I was the nickel back then and they did not go with three wide receivers at all the entire game. They used a tight end, which was pretty much effective in taking me out of the game completely, which I didn’t like. That was a hard-fought game and I think we lost by a field goal at the end, so I think we’re all looking forward to this opportunity and I know the fans are looking forward to seeing us match up against the Colts, so I can’t wait.

I guess this is the blog, which is supposed to be about how I feel about everything on the field and off the field, and the fans claim they enjoy that stuff, so here we go. We’ll talk about some politics.

Throughout the week, I normally watch “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” which is like a political show. I enjoy the show. He’s a funny guy, and it keeps you abreast of what’s going on. But I also watch “The O’Reilly Factor,” which I just watch for comedic value. Bill O’Reilly’s perspective is so far to the right that it’s almost impossible to take him seriously.

I know they’re talking about having the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speak at Columbia and answer questions. I noticed that a lot of far-right people are saying that he shouldn’t, which doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t know, I guess that plays into what appears to me as the pretentious nature of some of America’s culture. We just think America is the best and we’re not willing to listen. No matter how much we disagree with their views, the man is pretty powerful. Even if it’s just speculation that he has nuclear missiles, I think to get him over here to answer some questions is a good thing. I don’t see the reason why we wouldn’t want to do that, especially given the position that we’re in in the Middle East. At least starting to put aside our arrogant American nature and try to communicate with people in the Middle East would probably be more to our benefit.

Like I’ve said in several blogs, I appreciate the people in the armed forces and everything that they’re doing over there and all around the world. But as far as the situation in Iraq, I think that we think that we’re America, and we can go over to an unfamiliar part of the world and totally change the way that they’ve been living for hundreds of years, because democracy works for us. It doesn’t work everywhere. A positive thing is that we freed a lot of people from oppression, which is always great. But from my experience, and I’m not a history major, there’s never been anybody that has overcome some sort of oppression or been relieved of some horrible situation without the motivation coming from those people. That’s what confuses me the most, is we expect them to take control of their country, when they didn’t have the drive to free themselves from what appeared to be oppression from Saddam Hussein.

It just doesn’t make sense to me. Throughout history, any time there’s been a group that has been oppressed that needed some help, normally the drive for freedom or the drive for liberation comes from the people who are being oppressed. I guess that’s what stands out in this situation as being a poor decision and a reflection on the arrogance of our country. I don’t think there’s been an outcry in the Middle East for U.S. occupation. I think at no point did anyone over there ask for that or wanted that. I guess it just throws me off, because reading the paper or seeing on the news how many people are dying, Americans and innocent Iraqis, it doesn’t seem to have a light at the end of the tunnel. It doesn’t seem like there’s an end anywhere near. I guess at this point, we don’t want to leave, because we’ve come over there and put the country in an unstable state and now we can’t leave until they’re stable. But they’d really never had the motivation from the beginning to liberate and stabilize their country. That was all our doing, because we thought that it would be great to have a democracy in the midst of the Middle East.

But anyway, I guess that was a lot of politics. Sorry if it was boring, but it was on my mind, and I guess the blog is supposed to be what’s on my mind.

Tigervixxen asked if I follow any of the other pro sports teams in Colorado. I’m definitely a Colorado sports fan. I have to be honest though, I’m not a big baseball guy, so I’m always aware of what’s going on with the Rockies, but I don’t really watch them. I can’t really name anybody on the team, other than Matt Holliday. I hear he’s a pretty good player. I definitely know how they’re doing in the standings, so I look forward to them hopefully making a playoff push. But this is a football town.

I keep up with the Nuggets, of course. They’re an exciting team to watch. I’ve been to a few games, some of the playoff games, and I was really excited about the addition of Allen Iverson. He’s a great player. I don’t really know what they need to get over the hump. I’m not really sure what it is, because it seems like they keep hitting a wall in the playoffs, but it seems like they have all the talent that they need. I guess a year together will help them.

My cousin had an internship here over the summer, and he’s a big soccer guy, so we went to the MLS All-Star Game that was here. It was really cool to watch how crazy everybody was about David Beckham and to actually watch the game. Soccer’s not that bad of a sport, it’s fun to watch sometimes.

The Avalanche, I know they’re consistently very good, but hockey in general is down. I’ve never really been into hockey, and it’s hard to get into it now when the games only come on the Versus channel. The only hockey team I care about is the Broncos hockey team, I’m definitely into that. Unfortunately, they don’t have any games right now, but I’ll be picking up on the Broncos hockey next season.

And the Crush, they won the ArenaBowl my first offseason here. So I kept up with them and I’ve been to a couple of the games and it’s really fast-paced and entertaining. It’s all about entertainment. It’s almost more of a show than it is a game. I always wonder about some of the players who are there and why they aren’t in the NFL. Since I’m a professional football player, I’m more interested in some of their stories than anything else, just how they ended up playing for the Crush. It appears that some of the definitely have the talent to play in the NFL. So yeah, I guess somewhat I keep up with Colorado sports. I try to, but this is Broncos Country.

As for my little war with Andrew Mason, I’m sure it helps his blog, because otherwise nobody’s looking at it. It’s so boring (just kidding). Bronco_hyde said that at least he posts every day. Well, you kind of have to in order to compete with my blog, which is only once a week and amazing each time. You have to put in seven good days a week of blogging in order to put a dent in the quality, consistent blogs that I have. I only need to put out one a week because they’re of such great quality. Andrew has to keep putting out more and more blogs just to try to compete, and I don’t need to flood the market. I give you a quality blog, once a week, and it’s better than a bit of junk every day.

I’ve noticed that Andrew has taken some shots at me on his blog. I guess I could say I’m going to take the high road, but I guess it’s a little late for that, since I’ve already taken some shots at Andrew. But I guess I have to say something nice, since he did say something positive about my perspective, which I appreciate. So I’ll say that I think his picture is alright, and I’m sure all the fans appreciate the commitment that he has to giving them some insight every day. It’s good stuff.

But as I speak, it’s Monday, so I’m headed off to do my radio show tonight, and I’m going to Grand Junction on Tuesday to open a football field that the Broncos built out there, with Champ Bailey, John Lynch, Nick Ferguson, Daniel Graham. and Mr. Bowlen. A lot of us are going out there to visit our fans out in Grand Junction, so if anybody’s out there I’m sure you guys can come see us and we’ll be happy to meet and greet.

Like I’ve said before, I think our secondary is one of the best groups as far as talent on the field, but we’re probably one of the best groups as far as being involved in the community. We started this new thing over the summer called “Broncos Champion in the Community of the Month,” and I think out of five or six of these awards, five of them have been defensive backs. So I take a lot of pride in my group for being great on the field and off.

So I’ll talk to you guys next week. All Ready.

    Fox,

You guys can bounce back. I love the matchups for next week. Oh yeah, my friend (idiot) bet me $500 that you guys wont make the playoffs. He offered and I obviously took it. LOCK. This week should be a good opportunity for you to show case some of your skills.

I like your perspective on iraq, when we say we gave them freedom or gave them rights but i think they didnt really want or ask for it like you said in every fight for independance it the oppressed that uprise agaist the oppressor not an outsider trying to interfere with the relationship between the opppressed and the oppressor, good stuff dom. I really do think teams are underestimating elvis dummerville. He didnt look like the prototypical DE but he really goes out there and gives more than people said he had and thats really inspirational to me, the underdog doing out and proving everyone that douted him because of his size. The guy really has an impact just like most of the players that the front office and mike draft, and its starting to show like brandon marshal, jay cutler, you, and the late great number 27 who inspires alot of people that have a dream but people doubt them just like darrent and elvis, they just go out and produce. As far as your blog its great, gives people alot to think about, once a week is good time to produce some quality just like i tell my teachers if you want my homework right now i can give it to you but if you let me turn it in late tomarrow it will have quality (mostly doesnt work on them). good stuff dom go out there and pick manning off for broncos country.

p.s. sorry for the long response i was bored.

  5. evendelae says:

I agree with you on a lot of things about Iraq, but I think the primary reason that we invaded wasn’t to bring freedom, like some members of the government claimed, but simply because of the threat of nuclear missiles that Saddam said he had. Not to mention the interest the US had in the huge amount of oil in Iraq. I mean, having a friendly government that controls a good portion of our oil is really beneficial to us (and Halliburton, but that’s a different rant). I certainly do agree with you about the point that people need to take control of our own fates, and we can’t go everywhere forcing our way on people who don’t have any interest in it. Although sometimes the rebellions don’t work, like Tiananmen Square. Then I think US intervention might be appropriate, but definitely not a full scale invasion.

Anyway, football. Dumervil is what, second in the league in sacks? Awesome.

Fox, I love the blog. I read every word, every week but have not posted before. I felt compelled to write, and offer a different perspective on Ahmadinejad. My personal feeling is, at this moment in time, it is disrespectul to our men and women in uniform who are fighting (and too often dying over there) to allow this man, whose government has been tied to arms shipments which are being used against our soldiers, to be welcomed as a guest at one of our institutions. Knee-jerk reaction maybe, but like I said, maybe a different perspective. Back to the field, I’ve got a good feeling about this week. Manning is gonna be so worried about Bailey, Foxworth will be picking 3, and taking at least 1 to the house!!!

    Fox,

Best of luck this weekend against the Colts–it will be good to see you back in action–we need you out there!! Thanks for your perspective on Iraq and the whole Middle East mess–it’s that type of analysis that really makes your blog both unique and outstanding.

I was wondering if you saw the You-Tube clip of the Oklahoma State coach and if you had any thoughts on it? Seems like the reaction nationally was mixed–what are your thoughts from a player’s perspective? Thanks–look forward to next week’s entry after your big win over the Colts!!!

Didn’t know you were that passionate about politics haha. Although I don’t agree with you on some points you have every right to your own opinion so I will respect it. Anyway good job with the blogs Domonique, keep it up.
Hope you guys show Indy that the Denver Broncos are for real. Best of luck Foxy and let every Bronco know that we believe in you guys and will support you no matter what.

I think Elvis’s game is similiar to Dwight Freeney. I do not know if the comparison is accurate but they are both “undersized” and fast with good spin moves. The arroganace of our country makes us very similiar to the Roman Empire. History repeats itself. Anyways, beat up on the Colts and show that our team is for real. I live in Indiana and get sick of listening to all the Colts fans. The matchup will get a lot of publicity in my hometown because Cutler, whose hometown is not that far from where I live, is returning to Indiana. Love the blog and have a good game, Fox.

    GO BRONCOS

  13. d2soulja says:

Has Karl Paymah ever been looked at at safety? The reason I ask is cuz it seems like he is always getting called for contact down field since hes use to being a hands on press corner…seems he has the size and the physical nature to play safety

  14. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

The more defensive backs we have to throw at Peyton Manning and Friends, the better. No disrespect, Domonique, but this game will be a shootout as the Broncos and Colts’ offenses will take flight simultaneously. Nevertheless, our illustrious hybrid cornerback/safety (you) will make a big play to turn the tide. There’s nothing like silencing a home crowd on the road, so hopefully, you can do this. The Broncos and Colts will both be 3-1 after this Sunday’s game!!! Good luck, Fox.

  15. coloradoBoy says:

Man. I hope when you get beck on the field you can help stop the run, because if we can’t start doing that…bummer. I know we can though. it just makes me nervous.

  16. knuther says:

I think not all far right conservatives are against having ahmadinejad, nice generalization Foxy. I think most Americans in general have something against a President of a Country that has sent and funded Iranian Shia personnel into Irag and killed American troops. This is someone who also said Isreal should be wiped off the map and that the Holocaust never happened. A man who has sequestered and executed college students because they seek free speech. A man who denegrates women and their role in society. He is a powerful man, so lets here him speak he is only being called the next Hitler of our generation. Nice try Foxy! Why not check out the dudes record! Your Democrat Nominee Hilary Clinton was also against him speaking.

    Fox,
Right now the Broncos are staged for a break out. We all see it. Wether it happens this week, next week or next year, it’s all good from here out. I am working in South Carolina through Christmas and hate not being in Denver to cheer you guys on, but my heart is with you. I’m sure all the fans feel that way.

As for Andrew… I read his blog, but I read everything I can get about the team :-)

  19. lwoods11 says:

Hey Dominique, I’ve been reading your blog since last year and always been impressed with what you’ve had to say, especially this year, talking about topics that most people of celebrity status shy away from: race and politics. I’ve never blogged before, so I’ll try to keep it short, but kudos to you for being bold enough to state your opinion in an educated and eloquent manner. Wanted to throw in there that both my parents grew up in Great Falls and I spent alot of time visiting there growing up, though I now live in Oregon, having just moved from Colorado Springs, via Seattle, via New York and hope your family enjoys the area. Montana is a great place to grow up, for the most part, though I do remember visiting a big city (Dallas) for the first time and being stoked to actually go to stores and restaraunts I’d watched commercials to, but never actually had the chance to visit. Well, about football, good luck against the Colts. I’m sure you guys will play your hearts out, which as fans, is all we can expect and what Elvis exemplifies on the team. Well, good luck again and take it easy.

    Nice work Fox.

Thanks for throwing some props towards Dumervil. He has really been a force on the D-line this year. As a quality undersized guy with a perpetual motor and a great attitude, I feel like he embodies some of the wonderful spirit that D-Will brought to the team. I appreciate the hell out of both of them for it. And you, too, for all you are doing in D-Will’s memory.

And thanks for the politics. Although a lot of folks seem caught up in the rhetoric surrounding the U.S. – Middle East dynamic, I think they miss the point you articulate so well. Yes, may leaders say awful, horrible things. Yes, we may not agree with them. But when we take the higher road and treat those leaders with respect and tolerance, when we act with dignity and integrity by listening and creating dialog, then we truly living the American values of freedom and democracy. Arrogance and hatred have no place in a real democratic system.

Can’t wait to see ya back out on that field. Best of luck with everything – on and off the gridiron. Pax.

What a fantastic blog! Can’t wait to see you back on the field!! Stay healthy out there.

Elvis is awesome. I don’t think the fans over look him. I get amped up everytime he walks out on the field. I can’t wait to see what he is going to do next. What a fantastic player!!

Politics-Fantastic perspective. I’ve been engaged to a gentleman from Canada who has given me a different perspective on how americans view the world. I totally agree with what you’ve said about the arrogance. The philosophy that I have gained from him is. We are not worse or better. We are just different. Other countries are not worse or better, they are just different. We can take a lot of strengths of other nations and help our own. If we’d lose the we are better then everyone attitude. Even one of the greatest empires fell. You send your troops in to many countries. We’ve got to not spread our selves out so thin that we aren’t watching our own empire.

Lastly on the Iranian president. The best way to know your “enemy” or threat. Is to know him and try to understand where he is coming from. It is amazing to me that the President of Iran is willing to meet with students from a university and will accept any question asked. Yet our own president will not meet with anyone except supporters, or people with set questions.

Thanks Again Fox, for a fantastic blog!

Good Luck this week. You guys have your work cut out this week. I think your right in saying that you guys are very talented. This Broncos team looks to be very promising now and for the future. I like watching you play because you actually talk to the fans. That kind dedication makes it easy to connect and we as fans know your struggles and your expectations. So it’s exciting to watch someone who gives it his all on and off the field. Good luck.

Foxy! Thanks for a very interesting blog this time – with the political perspective in your blog you’re sure to get even more responses than usual. Let me just make a few points then I’ll move onto football.

The President of Iran denies the Holocaust which is enough for him to be considered bad company, and if you really want to know, denying the Holocaust in some countries in Europe is considered a crime (ask English author David Irving who served jail time in Austria for his Holocaust denials).

If you want to talk about the Taliban in Afghanistan how’s this: if you are woman living under Taliban rule you cannot be educated past the age of 8; if women want to continue their education after that they have to go to underground schools and they and their teachers risk execution if they are caught! Sorry, but it’s blatantly wrong.

If we think about the sacrifices the American military has made throughout our history for our freedom and the freedom of others consider the 3,800 American soldiers killed in Iraq in comparison to the 3,100 Union soldiers who died at the battle (one battle) of Gettysburg during the US Civil War or the 19,000 US soldiers who died in the Battle of the Bulge (again, one battle!) during WWII.

OK, off my soap box – sorry to get so serious! – and onto football. I really hope the Broncos can go into Indy and beat the Colts! Are you playing safety this week Foxy? Well, may the secondary be at their best and good luck!!

    Go Rockies, Go Broncos!

I really enjoyed your post Domonique, not only do you bring your football perspective but also you thoughts on other issues that are going on in the world. I am sure I don’t have to tell you since you are writer what a Hot Button issue politics can be, but freedom of speech is a wonderful thing many people take for granted. Keep expressing yourself, not everyone will agree with you but that is ok. What a frightening world it would be if we all just towed the company line. I see a bright future for you after football.

  32. htekid says:

Just a little political comment from a canadian perspective. I agree with you totally about the Iraq situation, you can’t force views on a group of people, invading the middle east is not going to stop hatred of america, only raise it. I am extremely grateful that canada did not get inovlved in the robbery of iraq’s oil, however it has left canada doing all the work in afghanistan with our soldiers dying there.

A little history. I don’t remember who said it but i saw something on one of the nfl talk shows where someone referred to an individual as an “Uncle Tom”
Although I am white, I do understand the nature of this comment, but think that is important that African American’s Learn som REAL history instead of listening to the rich white american rhetoric.

Many people don’t realize who “Uncle Tom” was and why his name should never be used in a derogatory way.
“Uncle Tom” was a man of african heritage who lived in Canada and was the man at the end of the “underground railroad” the man MOST responsible for freeing so many African slaves. Yet due to the Rich white people hating what he did tuned his name into a insult. And Most African American’s are unaware of how important and great this man actually was.

Sorry if this offends anyone but the talk of oppression and feeing people got me on it.

    Broncos RTW!!!!!
    Go Fox!

  33. bronco_hyde says:

    Hey Fox,

Another great blog. i love hearing about your thoughts each week.

Since this is mostly a football blog, I hate to have politics pop up too much, so please forgive me for the following rant about Ahmadinejad. I don’t want to get into it too much, but I think you are stumbling into the same trap as millions of other Americans. I seems like you’re basing your opinion on what we hear in the newspapers, and the networks, more than on what the actual facts are. It’s no secret that the news media (with the exception of Talk Radio) has aligned itself with a particular agenda, and will “report” anything that advances it. We only ever hear about how bad it is in Iraq because they want us to retreat. I wish they would report the REAL stories. The Iraqi people (in general) love America for what we have done for them. Regardless of what they have lived with for hundreds of years, every human soul yearns for freedom, not just in America. They wore their purple voting fingers with pride, and they do so many things each day to thank the troops. There was a report a few weeks ago of a suicide bomber who was taken out by an iraqi citizen when he tried to enter a community meeting where the troops were. This normal citizen gave his life to protect, not only his community, but especially the American troops there. The war is NOT about American’s being arrogant and trying to make everyone else do what we want, it is about giving Freedom to people who have been oppressed for centuries.

As far as trying to “reason” or “communicate” with radical Islamo-Facist Terrorists in the middle east, IT WON’T WORK. These people don’t want to resolve the issue, they want to kill you and me and every other free American or Israeli, or anyone who isn’t Muslim. That’s it, that’s all they want, us dead. You can’t reason with that.

As for Ahmadinejad. Just because he leads a country, doesn’t make him a leader. He is, and always has been a terrorist. This guy has always been a terrorist. He was personally one of the guards who took hostages in Iran during that crisis in the 80′s. Not just involved, he held the gun. He has denied the Holocaust, he has tried to develop nukes for the sole purpose of wiping Israel off the map, and he is constantly providing money, training, and weapons to the terrorists in Iraq that are killing our troups. I’m ashamed we even have to let him in the country, let alone let him speak at a University (the same university, by the way, that won’t even allow an ROTC program on campus.)

The war is not for oil, and not completely about spreading freedom (although that in itself is enough reason). It is not about WMD’s, or taking out Saddam. It is about taking these radicals out and eliminating them before they bring the fight to this country. Would you rather we leave the Iraqi’s in the mess they’re in, and prepare for another fight on US soil in a few years? This war on terror is necessary to prevent another 911 or worse. If we don’t finish it correctly, there will be a nuclear explosion in New York before the end of a decade.

So this rant is long enough, and I’m not trying to go way off here, I just wanted you to realize that what you have heard and based your opinion on is not the whole truth. Don’t believe everything the news media says. We have enough resources to research and find the whole truth.

Again, sorry for the rant, and how long it is. I’m just very passionate about this right now.

Good luck in Indy, and smack them in the mouth! Go Broncos!

Sorry, a quick correction for htekid. Uncle Tom was the main character of a fictional book by Harriet Beecher Stowe. “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”
The insult “Uncle Tom” is a result of this character in the book, not any actual person.

Also, if we invaded Iraq to “steal oil” as you claim, why is the price of gas double what it was when we invaded? Use your brain please, and quit believe all the liberal, anti-bush, propaganda being shoveled out daily.

    Hey Fox,

It is good to hear that you are going to be back on the field. I think your leadership and attitude will help a ton especially if Lynch isn’t back. I can’t wait for you guys to beat the Colts so you get some air time on all the networks. It seems as though Denver isn’t even playing this year…but flying under the radar seems to be Denver’s MO. As far as politics…I was living in Italy when the Gulf War broke out and had an outsiders view for the first time. From the outside countries just think we are a capitalist bully able to pull some strings to get what we want. Lets be honest, there are far worse crimes happening today that don’t get the recognition…but then again they don’t have anything this corporate giant wants. Sad to say but it is not only our political leaders to blame…as long as I can have enough money to buy my Latte after filling up my huge SUV on cheap gas I shouldn’t complain. Sorry Foxy to rant on your Blog…but I feel much better now. Anyways, make some YouTube highlights again Manning this weekend!!

    Nice blog.
Your views of politics and football show you very articulate and knowledgable in those areas. However, I think it was somewhat of an insult to the Rockies and the fans of the Rockies to imply that this is just a football town, and that you only know one player! Geez! Comeon! There are plenty of great players on the team, and they are proving to become an even better team. Many of the players are young (like yourself) and are working hard daily (hello 162 games/year) to get where they are. YOu seem to give little respect to a sport that has been organized longer than the NFL. Im not dissing the NFL, I myself am a bigger Bronco fan, but I wish people like you would wake up and see that baseball is not a sport that puts you to sleep. To me it’s one of the best mind enhancing sport that requires it’s athletes to have extraordinary mental and physical talent. Every element of baseball team’s defense and offense requires the same amount of time and energy that your team endures to make a team good.
So you gotta give it to them they are about to make the playoffs, the first in 13 or 14 years. Baseball….MLB….you better recognize, and if you don’t know now you KNOW. Go Rockies.

    Whats up Fox,
Thanks for you weekly insight, hope youre feeling a bit better because we’ll need you for the Indy game. I think we match up pretty well…especially in the secondary. Champ on Harrison, number 1 and number 1 at their respective positions, (even though harrison is a little girl when he slides instead of takes hit’s) you should try and pop him a good one today, its football, not catch and slide ball, but i guess thats why he’s been doing it so long and so healthily, idk if thats a word), and i think wayne and bly is a good matchup, 2 of the better players at their position, and i dont think theyll be able to utilize their rookie slot gonzalez. It will be interesting how we play in that game, because talent wise i think we’re equal if not better. Good luck this week, and tell john and you to get better!!! cuz we need you.. CYA fox, keep up the good work..ease off of andrew too, although his blog isnt quite the caliber of yours, i would be in the dark about all things broncos on a daily basis, he keeps me informed..keep up the good work though man, cya

    FOX,

Tough loss last week… Honestly I was really bummed you didn’t get to play- Jeff did a good job but there were one or two plays that I am sure you would have made had you been playing!!
Good luck against the colts this weekend…. God I would be so happy if we beat them- it seems like it is the colts who always ruin our season in the playoffs and I wold love you and your boys to get a few picks off peyton manning!

Great blog. It’s nice to know that you somewhat keep track of all colorado sports. I do have a question for you though. I have a nephew that is in football up here in Ft. Collins playing for a high school team. He suffered a broken back, and three concussions, and this year is struggling within himself. I think he is scared to get seriously hurt again, and when he was sidelined has just lost his drive. We are starting to see that sparkle in his eye a bit more, and know that he could go a long way in football if he gives himself a chance. Could you as a pro player think of anything that we could say to him to show him support and family backing.

Geez, you’re taking a beating this week….apparently you’re not up on your political views and Rockies knowledge LOL.

I’ll keep it simple….Go Broncos! Beat the Colts!

    God Bless

Foxy, want to go to one of the Rockies games this week? It should be a fun series against Arizona? Why don’t some of us Rox/Bronx fans take Foxy to Rockies game this week?

  44. Jakegirl says:

Hi Fox- soapbox time! “That’s what confuses me the most, is we expect them to take control of their country, when they didn’t have the drive to free themselves from what appeared to be oppression from Saddam Hussein.” “Throughout history, any time there’s been a group that has been oppressed that needed some help, normally the drive for freedom or the drive for liberation comes from the people who are being oppressed”

Ok Foxy- here’s a question for you. You could say the same thing about the slaves before the Civil War! Maybe the North should not have gone to war with the South because the slaves themselves didn’t have ‘the drive’ to free themselves. Sure, there were a few slave rebellions- but nothing substantial. Does that mean the slaves didn’t want to be free?? NO! I don’t think you’d say that. They needed the help of the North and the whole culture of the South mentality had to change. 100 years later the decendants of slaves were still fighting for their freedoms in the South. So do you think that the fight was NOT WORTH fighting? Did the slaves themselves instigate the Civil War? No. It was other forces that started the war in order to change something they perceived as immoral and wrong- SLAVERY! War is the ultimate machine of CHANGE. Sometimes it’s the only to make Change.

I am a student of history and the Civil War is very apt to our times now. There were liberal people during the Civil War who villanized Lincoln and wanted to make peace with the South because the war was ugly. Can you imagine- dividing the Union because it was an easier way out?! Anyway- go get some of those HISTORY books out there and eat them up.

    GO BRONCOS

I’m so excited for the Colts game on Sunday! As you could’ve guessed I love the corners for Denver. It’ll be a good test for you guys and Peyton on Sunday. I’m really hoping that you give him the run down. He’s good but I really get sick of hearing about him 24/7. Hope to see multiple INTs.

I’m a nutrition/wellness major but I took International relations this semester for my political science credit since I already have my American govt credit from high school and with 7 people in the class there is some very insightful discussion. Our professor likes to apply the theories to current/20th century conflict and thru this I’ve gained, obviously the American perspective, but also the applied theory perspective to war. It has been a huge tool and learning process. I think the biggest reason that we went to war was to protect our national interests. We went to Europe, Korea, Vietnam and the Balkins for the same reasons. There are other reasons, varying from conflict to conflict, to engage in war. It just so happens that for the conflict in Iraq we adopted the role of ‘freedom rider.’

Well I guess that’s my intl rel lesson of the day :) At least you know you are promoting a quality education system in Colorado :)

Good luck Sunday! Lock it up!!

  49. dubsu says:

Actually Iraq War is about oil, but not in the sense that we went in just to steal their oil but it was to ensure that each barrel of oil that comes out of the Middle East is sold in U.S. dollar and not in Euro like Saddam had announced prior to us taking him out. The whole spread freedom and terrorists thing is just a front for the ignorant public. Google Petrodollar vs. Petroeuro, it might surprise some of you that think otherwise.

    Go Broncos!
