OTA Day 3: Images and Morning Notes

OTA Day 3

A gorgeous, sun-kissed Friday morning greeted the Broncos as they began their final day of organized team activities for the week. They’ll go through four such sessions from Monday through Thursday next week before a four-day Memorial Day weekend respite.

Some quick morning observations from the 10 minutes of warmups and stretching I could watch:

… D.J. Williams brought rookie offensive tackle Ryan Harris in front of his teammates to lead the pre-stretching breakdown. Harris jogged up as some players yelled “Babyface!” but soon left with groans and one Bronco — whom I couldn’t identify by voice — yelling “Stone him!” after a short jig that was quickly deemed lackluster by his new teammates …

… Wide receiver/kickoff returner Glenn Martinez was held out of practice. The former Detroit Lion joined the Broncos in the offseason as a reserve-future signee …

… Undrafted free agent safety Roderick Rogers hasn’t been with the team this week, because his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, doesn’t complete its spring semester until today. He will be eligible to take part in next week’s OTAs, but still has yet to be issued a number …

… Speaking of rookies, this day also marks the first time that Denver’s rookie class will speak to the media after practice; they are available for interviews at the end of each week during quarterback camp, so we’ll try and get as many soundbites and tidbits from them as we can after practice. Head Coach Mike Shanahan is also expected to talk …

… And finally, a few more photos from the morning …

goood job puutting dj williams at middle linebacker but.I was thinking about why not at safty position and hwo are the outside linebackers

  3. italianmobstr7 says:

Our outside LB’s are Ian Gold, Warrick Holdman, Louis Green, Nate Webster can play there also. If there was any LB to move to safety it would be Gold. We’re fine at safety this year. Maybe next year we should address that. We still have John Lynch, we have Nick Ferguson coming back, Sam Brandon coming back, Curome Cox is still with us, We signed Roderick Rodgers, Dominique Foxworth played a little safety last year. We’re fine on D. The starting 3 LB’s will be Gold, Williams, Holdman. Holdman will surprise some people. If he’s in a place where there is some talent around him he will be a good player. Just look at how he played when he was with the Bears.

Don’t forget Hamza Abdullah. I think he could be a sleeper back there this season….

FWIW, John Lynch always mentions Hamza Abdullah when he’s asked about young safeties on the roster who have a chance to break out.

If you thought the D had a good start last year. I think this year will be even better. I would hate to be a young wide reciever going up aganist the Broncos this year.

Sitting in my car on my laptop checking out the new pics and I am pumped. Living in So Cal but I bleed Orange and Blue. Keep up the great work. We will be rock solid on D this year…..

Andrew, you have one of the best jobs in the State of Colorado; keep up the good work!

Any truth to Scheffler breaking his foot?

  12. ggeorgees24 says:

    we should get briggs

  13. Philistine2111 says:

Our acquiring Daniel Graham is looking more like a key addition this offseason after Scheffler’s injury. He provides security if Scheffler’s injury slows him down.

  14. Reality says:

Scheffler back for camp, if you hadn’t heard already. Orange Thunder on the tracks!
