With a flight to Houston awaiting the Broncos, Wednesday morning’s practice lasted only about an hour and was conducted without the on-field presence of wide receiver Brandon Stokley for a second consecutive day.
“It’ll be a game-time decision with him,” said Head Coach Mike Shanahan. “We’ll see how he runs at the game. I can’t really tell you at this time (whether he will play).”
The same is true for Javon Walker, who did practice fully in both days’ work this week but, like Stokley, is listed as questionable on the injury report.
Safety Nick Ferguson was ruled out for the game after being unable to practice this week with a knee injury. No other Broncos were listed any worse than probable on the injury report, with everyone else making it through the full practice — including all three of the team’s running backs.
More to come later today, including some thoughts from Selvin Young — he bought 52 tickets for Thursday’s game — and a few words from Walker about his health.
For now I have to go check in for the flight to Houston, so until next time, vaya con Dios.
FYI … for those who are wondering, a last-minute shift of the practice schedule this morning means no photo gallery from the Wednesday session.

Winbron came in because D.J. got dinged on the head but I’ve heard nothing since then? I guess they didn’t want to risk him any further in the blowout. Young is the starter now, not Henry, that doesn’t bode well for Henry in the offseason. I think Walker is starting to understand the old saying “You play for pay”. Stokley is likely to play, just not very much, he truly is a gamer. Let’s see some Shananigans!
hrdnokd Are you sure that Henry is not the starter anymore? Or was that just for last week since Henry is still coming back off of that knee injury?
Last week, Henry was officially named the starter, but Young was the one who actually was taking the first snaps. On Thursday, I wouldn’t mind it one bit if Walker and Stokely sat out, because hopefully this should be a fairly easy game. It would probably benefit the team more if they were both healthy against San Diego. It seems to me that Brandon Marshall catches the majority of his passes early in the games, and then for some reason they stop throwing his way.
“easy game”???? On the road, short week, losing to the raiders 2 weeks ago. Can any game really be classified as “easy”? I feel the more help the better.
after last weeks performance you hate to see anything interrupt the flow of the team we have been waiting to see all season long. Do not underestimate Houston there is plenty of history there for them to want to step it up. If the defense plays like they did with KC we should do fine, and Stokley and Walker can get ready for SD. We owe SD a whoopin and hope the entire team will be healthy and ready for some payback in that game. GO BRONCOS
LETS TAKE ONE MORE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION LETS PLAY HARD AND HAVE FUN AND WIN AGAINST HOUSTON. GO BRONCOS!!!
Sometimes I think our fans are totally out of touch with reality… After every loss, there is someone in here talking about how if stars x, y and z align just right– we can make the playoffs. Then we get this guy talking about how this should be an easy game…
Hello!! The 2007 Denver Broncos are a very mediocre and very inconsistant football team. No game is easy, and the playoffs have been nothing more than a pipe-dream for weeks… I just don’t know where anyone gets off talking about the playoffs and having easy games after watching the first 13 games of the season.

This is what we are rooting for…First…the Broncos to win out. If San Diego wins this weekend it doesn’t affect us. We need to win out, beat SD and for SD lose in Oakland for us to claim the West. Still very possible.
For the wild card…
Now we must have the Bills beat the Browns, (we could have the Jags beat the Steelers but only if the Steelers lose to the Jags, Rams and Ravens). The Titans could beat the Chiefs because eventually they will lose to the Colts. It doesn’t matter much. Then we would need either the Eagles or the Giants to beat the Bills in the final two weeks and the Browns to lose to the Bills this week and at Cinci the next week. If all that happens the Broncos would be in that final wild card spot.
Look people to call any game right now an easy game is foolish. Also the playoffs aren’t just a pipe dream its very possible if they take care of business . Dont forget that we beat both Tenn, Bills, and if they both win there games , there is a chance but that all water under bridge if we lose Thurs. So we don’t need to focus on what ifs. But on winning. And let everything else work itself out
All Denver can do is win. If they lose, they’re out. So all they have to do is play their best, like they have proven they can, like against KC, and they should get into the playoffs. If a team does it’s part of the job, then usually the rest takes care of itself. True, they are not consistent, and quite frankly I have been very skeptical all year because of the lack of consistency, but I am so very tired of saying ‘we’ll get ‘em next year.’ So I don’t see why they can’t get it going late in the season. They should have the momentum now and I don’t see why this can’t be the year they are contenders again. They need to play all four quarters and the defense needs to show up and actually support the great offense that they seem to have now. I still believe, but it’s one game at a time. One loss, and it’s over. One loss, and I’m looking for draft picks…
But I don’t care about the past. I’ll just watch until they lose. Unless they don’t…..I still think it’s definitely not over.
go broncos..beat those texans…one game at a time…just pray we win all final games and thats it….brncos4life
There’s no such thing as an easy game in the NFL. Kube knows Shanny, Shanny knows Kube. Whoever is best prepared wins, be it trick plays, turnovers or big plays. Houston is missing their starting qb, 2 rb’s, their top CB and likely the best OLB in the NFL. Williams is coming on so I expect to see a lot of what Allen got last week, double teams and hard shots from THE BEAST that is Daniel Graham. Come on Walker, SHOW ME THE MONEY!
This game with the Texans could answer alot of fans questions. Is it Shanahan that is the mastermind, or Kubiak that was the true Mastermind?????? HMMMM…… I definately wouldn’t say this game will be easy. In fact I belive with what each coach knows about each other, this will be a low scoring affair. It will be most likely, like playing in front of a mirror, on the offensive side of the ball. I believe the Broncos Have more talent, but I also know Kubiak has done nothing but improve the Texans since he’s arrived. They play with more and more confidence. If the Broncos get through this Game with a W, then they have a good deal of time to get all their top weapons healthy before playing San Diego. I’m excited to see them put back to back victories together. It’s not over till it’s over. Although being a realist, very nervous for this team. Not sure which team will show.
In an article in the Denver Post today Mr. Walker decided to bump his gums about his salary next year and how he WOULD NOT be taking a pay cut. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_7705255 Will someone explain to Captain Numb Nuts that he won’t make anywhere near what Denver will pay him next year even WITH a pay cut? My guess is they’ll turn over half his money in incentives such as yardage and catches, not just take it totally away from him. He’s had one good year in Denver and he thinks he’s Rod Smith. Just another prima donna looking to get paid, whatever happened to EARNING your money? Marshall you are quickly becoming my new favorite player, keep loving the game and it will pay off for you in Denver. Run like hell, catch everything you can and block someone out of the frame! FOOTBALL AND TACOS, THAT’S WHAT DENVER DOES!
This is a playoff game in the regular season : the looser is out of contention , the winner is still alive , it’s not we need this win , it’s if we loose , the season’s over and we’re preparing for next year , pretty unusual at this time of year in Shanny’s era ( 99 exept ) .
