your right letplummerplay, im an idiot, lynch should retire and shanahan should get booted, while were at it why not trade bailey and marshall for some good draft picks that will solve everything... (sarcasim) lynch retiring would set the secondary back for a few years i dont see how him hanging up his cleats helps the team.. last time i checked he's playing in the pro bowl this weekend, the draft is over-rated to some extent, i mean how many defensive rookies are going to play in the game sunday and how many rookies period.. but what do i know im an idiot
p.s. screw you jackass go play some hand ball with plummer

Most of us are in agreement that the d-line needs a tackle. Some of think we need o-line help too. For those who think anything else should come first , take a good look at the two teams in the superbowl.
I just watched the interview with Linch. He referred to the Broncos as "they" and not "we". To me , it sounded like he was leaning toward retirement and at first I thought he should. I hope he doesn't . I think the Broncos will be in the superbowl in two years and I'd like to see him get another ring. He may have lost a step, but if the d-line adjustment in personal really works out(who da gonna get??), it won't matter if he lost a step. I'm hoping the fact that he made the probowl will get thinking that he can still play.
Off season moves.......trade where we are deep to teams that are deep where we are weak! Do the rest in the draft and do another outstanding job with undrafted free agents! enough said, goooooooooo Broncos!

Much is made for the necessity of a 330ish DT. while most nose tackles are in that weight range, one of, if not the best, nose tackles the Broncos ever had was Barney Chavious. Barney never even came close 300. So being less than the norm for a noser tackle should be considered, it should not rule out any prospect solely on that issue.

The Viklings win was, in my opinion, the second best game the Broncos played all year. However, by winning that game they went from having the number 8 pick to the number 12 pick. This could be the most costly victory the Broncos ever had. Just go throught the draft and see who's available at 8 versus 12. A MAJOR DIFFERENCE! Let's hope that an exceptional DT slips through the cracks and the Broncos get him at #12. Not very likely, but, it's nice to dream.
It will be interesting to see what kind of trade the Patriots come up with for their number 5 pick. A team despeerate for a starting QB will be very eager to get that pick.

Here's my problem with the logic of drafting a DT later in the draft, they simply don't exist. Name more than 5 impact DT's in the NFL today that were drafted after the first three rounds? Now I'd love to fill a hole in the secondary as much as anyone, but DT should be priority one, either in free agency or in the draft. Now if we get Rogers in a deal, obviously we can then focus on other needs, but a DT must be the #1 priority of this ball club. We have one starter on the D line over 300lbs. and he's BARELY over that mark. Every line needs at least one 330lbs. monster in the middle filling the gaps. Back in the 90's Traylor fit that description while the other linemen made the tackles. He was the only 300lbs. guy, but he filled the hole. We don't have one right now.

Going safety in the first, (Phillips) lb in the second, we can either go Abidi or Wheeler. (fairly similar players)

The real problem lies in the 3rd, Okam and Harrison will go in that round. We need to figure out how to get both of them to create a stud d-line.

DT is a waste of picks in the 4th, no upgrade, just semantics, whichever fullback drops to pick 104 is probably the best move at that point.

After that, Anthony Alridge, then a punter.

My draft doesn't address the o-line, if we get Faneca and a fullback, we will have good depth and be able to overcome inexperience at the LT position.

All I know is weather or not Lynch retires this year I would like to see us trade back in the draft and still pick up Gator S Phillips... I mean if we could get Ellis or some other big name like that by trading up by all means, but I think our best value would be Phillips. Well I guess I wouldnt mind that OL guy a lot of draft experts think we will pick up, but then again I think Ryan Harris is going to fit well there for us. So S is a bigger need, unless there is a MLB that is first day startable so we can put D.J. were he belongs.

2008 Draft: What hurts is not having a 3rd. bronx2729, I think we still have the 6th because Jimmy Kennedy didn't make the team. Correct me if I'm wrong. Biggest question: Are J.Walker and T.Henry going to be with the team? Keep in mind that Javon had other issues besides physical injuries. With the right kind of support from coaches and teammates, he can still play. All things taken into consideration his outburst can be forgiven. Travis is a bigger question. Can he take a handoff with his arm up and not get blown up by a linebacker on his way to sacking Cutler? If both could be traded for a mid-to-late 3rd or a very early 4th, that might be OK. That scenario calls for drafting a RB and a WR of which many are available in the draft. Kind of unlikely that one team would give a 3rd for both of them w/their $$. Much can happen between now and April...NFL Scouting Combine, etc. I like the Shaun Rogers idea, but at what price and will he fit into "the secret new D-line philosophy"? It's nice to hear Al Wilson's name mentioned because that's what happened to the Run-D (as well as 3rd & long, 2nd & medium, 1st down, etc., etc., etc.). I agree with those who are in favor of Kenny Phillips as a possible 1st. Let the coaches and scouts evaluate and interview. You know the last three drafts haven't been bad and have the possibility of getting better. If a safety is 1st, I think a big-tackling backer needs to be 2nd. With all due respect to those wanting a DT in the early rounds, I just don't share the urgency over S and LB. There are a lot of good young players on the team already. Stability on Defensive coaching philosophy, better blocking and lane running on ST, Offensive Line depth and certainty (many OTs available in the draft) and a good draft are what we need to watch for. Be patient.

I also think he should retire. A great player who now we have to kind of protect in the defense because of his lack of range. His mind is still great but his body cannot catch up. He has a great family, an all-pro career, and a Super Bowl ring to go with it. Go out with the class you deserve. Before you get hurt. Bad.
