Looking Toward the Holidays

December 18th, 2008 - 2:15pm by Ryan Torain

Alright, I finally got on top of things. I’ve started shopping for my family.

I’m just kind of looking around, shopping for my mom, my dad, my brothers and sisters and all — friends and family. As I see something I’ll grab it, basically. So that’s been fun.

It feels good to be able to take care of your family a little bit, be able to give back. They’ve been helping me out since I’ve been little, so it’ll be good to see everybody.

As far as what I want for Christmas, I don’t know. Just probably to hang out with my family. I’ve been away for so long, just seeing them will be a good gift for me. Plus I’m excited to give them their gifts.

Speaking of giving gifts, a couple days ago — Tuesday, actually — I went with some of the other rookies to The Sports Authority store to help give some kids some Christmas presents. That was an experience. Each one of them had a gift certificate for 100 dollars, so it was fun to go around and see what they wanted to buy. It’s always good to hang out with the kids. They all have such different personalities, and it’s just good to give back and have a good time with them.

A couple of you asked questions the past few weeks, so I’ll get to those real quick.

One question asked who I think the toughest challenge would be in the playoffs. I don’t want to cop out, but to be honest, everybody’s a challenge. Just because everybody steps up huge in the playoffs, everybody’s playing to their full ability, and everybody wants to win. Plus, in this league, you never know what could happen. You can’t take anything for granted.

As far as my offseason plans, I’ll just be staying in Denver. I’ll be here rehabbing up, just trying to get my knee strong with conditioning and training. I’m going to be working on trying to better myself in the playbook, as well. Just trying to stay on top of that and be ready to go full speed when I get healthy.

With my rehab right now, everything’s going smoothly. I don’t have to use crutches anymore — I didn’t have to be on them too long, thank goodness. Now I’m just pretty much getting my leg strong, trying to get the quad back up to strength. I’m just taking it day by day. Right now I’ve got a brace that I’m wearing, and I’ll probably have this on for a week, week and a half. Then it’s just normal walking around.

Yep, everything’s going well and I feel good. And you can’t ask for much more than that on the holidays.

Hey there ATV!! Glad to hear your rehabbing is going well… its going to be awesome next season when you’re good, strong and healthy and we can just attack our opponents!! Now you got me all excited - added on to my excitement about Sunday, hoping we can just come out strong and get that win and our division.

And its really cool what you and some of the other rookies did for those kids. I love the guys on this team because they always give back more than they take in. You guys have true hearts of gold, I love it. Good to know you’re finally getting your Christmas shopping done… I’m practically done myself. Actually I was more than halfway done back in July!! haha, I was quick this year.

Just stay positive Ryan, we’re behind ya all the way. Its going to be awesome to just see you explode out onto the scene next season… I can hardly contain myself. Stay strong and get healthy!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!

Hey T-Rain, glad to hear that you are doing well. I like 07elway, can’t wait to see you out there next year going full force. if the game that you played in is any kind of a forecast of whats to come than i see huge things for you, minus injury which i hope never happens again. i swear you took two steps and you were 10 yards down the field. Can’t wait to have you back next year and showing the league what you are made of while running over everyone.
enjoy your holidays with your family and keep doing what you are doing.
we are all behind you 100%.
Hey, do you smell BBQ’d buffalo?
    GO BRONCOS!!!!

Merry Christmas Torain and to all my fellow Bronco Faithful. Keep at the rehab…you’ll be back to normal before you know it. (I’ve been there)

Quick question…Next season are you going to continue the blog? I can only imagine what you have to say, after you start mowing over defenders.

    Keep your head up!!

It’s nice to hear you’re doing well. Hopefully, your Christmas is a happy one. Life is good for me but it will be even better if the Broncos get back to winning championships. I’m sure you’ll play an integral role in that.

Ryan: I gotta be straight up. My old man’s been watching Bronco football since they weren’t. Coached high school in the wayback. He and I were watching, hoping for a great debut based on all the great things being said about you. The first time he saw you run, he said “Uh oh!”. I asked him what concerned him, and he said “He won’t last.” I thought that was pretty harsh, so I asked him why he felt that way. “He’s got some bad habits that are gonna get him killed. He’s big, he’s fast, he’s got it all. But at the pro level, you can’t dance in the hole, and you can’t expose yourself to hits you don’t have to take.” So we looked at your highlights, and played back your runs this year. I had to admit, he saw what he saw. I asked what he thought you could do to progress. “I’d go live with TD for a while”, he said. My questions for you: Is there “making them miss” training, or is that something instinctive? Do you believe that a feature back in todays league can get thirty touches per game and last more than a couple of years? Does my old man have a point in his concern (criticism?) for you or should we keep our opinions to our recliners? We are both excited for your potential, want whats best for you and the team, and wish you a full recovery and a great career. Go Broncs

    Hey Ryan,

Glad to hear that you are gettin better and dont have to be on those horrible crutches anymore :)
Thats so cool that you guys went and hung out with the kids. You guys are always awesome in that sense….

My only Christmas wish this year was that we win against the Buffalo’s this weekend…I will be there bearing the cold to watch our team win the AFC west!! I dont want it to come down to having to win against San Diego… Kinda funny though because if I was living in Cali still that would be my one and only game for the year….SOOO glad I live in Bronco Country now!!! :)
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!

    What’s up T Train!

PLEASE talk to the team and wear the ALL BLUE jersey’s for home games!!!!!!!!!!! We had a 6 game home winning streak with them I don’t know who’s idea it was to change them? After we beat the chargers we will get 1 home game and can start the streak then and carry it into the playoffs and next year. Today was a tough one man…but it is meant to be. We want to earn our spot not get it by default. Happy Holidays! I really hope we move DJ back to MLB and have Woodyard at Will. Lets rock and roll man! We have a great young team regardless

Oh man. What a rough game yesterday. Another RB went down. How weird is that?? Solid first half tho. I still wish we could have converted TDs in the red zone instead of settling for FGs. Oh well. I’m glad you have gotten the opportunity to Christmas shop. I’ve had mine all bought and wrapped for about a week now. I guess that is how it goes when you’re a girl lol. My brother is still trying to scramble. You kind of have an excuse tho. Merry Christmas!! And Merry Christmas to Grammies :)

  10. BAADLADY says:
