It’s All a Blessing

September 16th, 2011 - 3:38pm by Rahim Moore

Monday Night Football. You know what? Running out of that tunnel, I really told myself — it really felt like I accomplished something in my life. I was proud of myself because first of all, I trusted in God. I obeyed my parents and respected all my elders, and I worked so hard. I worked so hard to get here. So hard. Words can’t even explain it. So I was just thankful to be able to share that with some of my favorite players of all time. I’m sorry we didn’t come out with the win, but despite that, it was a blessing.

Seeing Brian Dawkins do what he does, it was great. My mom and uncle were surprised of how hard the dude can still hit. But you know what, you wouldn’t even know how old he is watching him play. He’s a great man. I love that dude. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Playing with him is like playing with Rod Woodson, Ed Reed, Ronnie Lott or Steve Atwater — he’s in that group. If I want to be the best one day, I’ve got to learn from the best. And I get to do that here.

My juices were flowing during the game, but they’re flowing for practice, too. They’re flowing for any game. Whenever I get a chance to ride for my teammates and loved ones, it’s always a good thing. I was blessed.

My first play, it was great because I came from the opposite side of the field, and I was moving. Coach always preaches to us to hustle and run to the ball, and I was running to the ball. When Von knocked it out, that ball was so small. It looked like a penny. I just fell on it. I was going to pick it up, but I saw big linemen and I was like, uh-uh, I’m gonna fall on this ball and be safe.

As for the day after the game, it’s the players’ day off, so I got to experience something else in my life — I went scuba diving at the aquarium. It took me 40 minutes to get in the water. My mom and my godfather were there, and they were telling me to breathe and relax. But I’m like, “It’s harder than what you think, there’s sharks below my feet! Turtles and barracudas, too, so don’t tell me to relax!”

I had to get used to my breath and breathing out of that tube. Once I got that down, I was down there for like 40 minutes. That’s something I always wanted to do my whole life. I was blessed and fortunate to be able to do it, just having a blast. It’s funny, I’m going to take scuba diving lessons in the summer and I’m going to get my own scuba diving suit and put the Broncos logo and my name on the back. I’m going to have my whole family get one, and my whole family is going to go, so then we’ll see who’s tough and who’s soft.

Preparing for Cincinnati has gone great. We learned from our mistakes last week and we’re capitalizing on some things that we can brush up on as a team. I’m looking forward to the challenge. I tip my hat to Marvin Lewis and his team. They do a great job and they’re hitting on all cylinders, so it’s going to be a great matchup.

We’re going to give the fans what they came to see — hopefully be blessed to have a win and just go out there and show them that we can improve every week.

That’s it. God bless.

Whatever, but either way I didn’t sign in for a bible class on this football blog and for your information I was brought up a roman catholic and I was an altar boy for years of all things. No re-born christian here, just saying.

I often find myself being “taught” things by re-born christians who think they have re-invented the wheel and I don’t take it too kindly, not that strand is one, have no idea, was talking in general, anyhow thank god this religious blog is over so we can move on with football.

Roman Catholics never do. Yet, Christians get “schooled” constantly. No one, likes to be told anything. I was baptized Roman Catholic. Didn’t believe in God, never believed in Jesus, didn’t even believe in the Bible. That baptism did nothing for me. I was raised Catholic, whole family was. Then I studied Catholicism more after my confirmation and found out Cataclysms aren’t even from the Bible. That a Priest doesn’t marry because a Pope decided it was best they not be. That a Pope decided not to eat meat on Fridays. That only Catholics get to meet God the Father and Jesus in heaven. No thanks, Catholicism has too many added rules by men for my taste. Hellfire and brimstone. Latin being spoken in services when 90% of the people in them, don’t know what the Priest is chanting. Praying to a human, (The mother Mary) when Angels had told people not to pray to them. That a man can tell someone to recite a prayer to a human and be forgiven. There are many reasons Christians “school” Catholics. Even after all my issues with the Vatican lead church, and no longer being a Catholic, we are all in this and the real battle is against the things unseen.

  24. stevecan2 says:

I apologize for ranting about the Roman Catholic Church. It is very personal and I should have not shared my thoughts with this blog. It is difficult to have family members tell me, that even though I never believed in Him as a youth or until I was 25 years old. Since I no am longer affiliated with the Catholic Church that I am going to hell.

    “It’s all a blessing”

It’s a shame in my eyes seeing some players, think that playing in the NFL is anything but an extraordinary opportunity. It is awesome to have young players on the Broncos that understand that and show it on and off the field.

  26. stevecan2 says:

    weim,

    Christians 24 – Heathens 17? hehe

  27. mike1730256 says:

if we lose this week we might as well just give up on this season and really go for the suck for luck idea because tebow and orton aint the answer in denver

  28. PearlJamBroncos says:

    Thanks Rahim!

    Great to hear your perspective!

Definitely relishing in the blessed feeling of having you as a Bronco, as you said, and as I hope – Forever! =D

Keep it up, you’re already proving that you’re learning the ‘right’ ropes, as it were. If only Atwater would come in and do a little extra teaching, that’s the only person besides Dawkins, that I think you could ‘get the goods’ from at the highest level. Damn good to have you as a Bronco! Can’t wait for your first pick, first pick-six, and YOUR first forced fumble. Way to pay attention and stay (get) “on the ball” on that first play! … “Looked like a penny” -LoL
Thanks Again Rahim, and GO BRONCOS!!!! 15-1 until We’re not!
