I guess we’ll start with the most pressing issue over the weekend, the injury of Kevin Everett and how severe that was. To be honest with you, I was really worried. I prayed, but I didn’t expect it to be nearly as bad as it is now. I’ve heard different reports, some say that he’s going to have trouble breathing and he needs to fight for his life and that he won’t ever walk again.
Those things are upsetting. I didn’t expect it to be too bad, mainly because we’ve had a lot of stretchers the past few months around here. Which is not a good thing, but fortunately our guys came out OK, going all the way back to Al Wilson. Considering how long it took him to get off the field and they took him to the hospital, it was terrifying.
Just a week ago, Karl Paymah was in the same scenario. He wasn’t moving, and his hit seemed so much worse because it was right on top of the head. But I guess you can’t really tell by how hard it is, it’s more about the placement. We had Warrick Holdman in training camp get taken off on a stretcher, and it’s just too much.
We’ve obviously had a few really major tragedies, losing our players, so it’s a lot to deal with. Those are off-the-field things, which are a little different, but there’s nothing you can do to really protect yourself from those sort of things. They teach you to tackle properly, and sometimes with the speed of the game and the strength that the players have, those collisions happen. They happen all the time, and if it’s at that particular angle, it could be pretty dangerous. Like I said, we prayed and are continuing to pray for him, and you never want to see anything like that happen.
I do a radio show on 950 AM, The Fan, at 5:30 on Mondays, and we talked about the transition that football players, more than any other sport, have to make from a situation like that, where you’re just praying for a guy’s life and you know that he’s really in trouble because he hasn’t moved in 10 minutes, and then five minutes later, we’re all flying around smacking into each other again, putting yourself at risk. Obviously our jobs are not as important to society as that of a police officer or a member of the military (I know we have a lot of readers in the military and we appreciate them), but it kind of rivals that in the fact that when things are going on, you have a mission or a job that you have to do, and no matter what happens around you, it’s important to focus on the task at hand.
One of the ways I’m able to deal with something like that is to realize that I can’t do anything about it. Me grieving for the rest of the game isn’t going to make anybody feel any better, and me being scared of the same thing happening to me is just going to put me in more danger than if I play full speed. I think a lot of times you put yourself at more risk when you’re trying to avoid injury.
All that being said, that was a game full of terrible injuries. You had broken ankles and forearms, and I came out with an injury that is tremendously minor in comparison. I rolled my ankle in the second quarter, had kind of a sprain. I tried to come back and play, but I just couldn’t play on it after that, unfortunately. It’s really hard to watch a game when you’ve got your shoulder pads and your helmet on and you’re watching everybody fight. Especially a game like that, where it comes down to literally the last second. Every play that doesn’t go our way, you feel like you could’ve had something to do with it.
It’s really tough for me, especially since I’ve always been a pretty healthy guy. I’ve never missed a game or a practice or anything since I’ve been playing football since I was eight years old. Obviously playing a game you have lots of nicks and even fractures and things like that here and there, but nothing ever made me miss any time. I fully expect to be playing this weekend, and I’m going to do everything within my power to get back. I feel like I’m an important part of this team and I refuse to let anybody down.
And also, I hate treatment. Like I said, I’ve never been hurt before, so I never had to spend any time getting treatment on any level. It’s the worst thing ever. I really had a good relationship with our training staff prior to me getting treatment. We all got along, and I’d walk by and say, “Hey, how are you doing?” and shake hands every morning. I might spend 10 minutes in there talking to everybody, but now that I have to spend four or five hours in there, I don’t think they really like me that much anymore, just because I’m inquisitive. When they want me to do something, I’m asking, “Why?” I like to know what they’re doing and how this is helping me. I guess I asked some dumb questions, like, “If I can’t feel my toes, is that a good thing?” which I definitely think it’s not a good thing.
They love ice. Ice is one of the trainer’s best friends. But I try not to project my disgust with my injury onto them. I know that they’re trying to do what’s best for me, and I’m trying to do what’s best for me. We’re all on the same team, I just like to ask questions just to make sure we’re doing what’s best for me and in as short a time as possible, because Monday and Tuesday I’ve spent just as much time here as I do on Wednesday, which is not good. I need some time off.
But let’s move on from the injury stuff. This entry might be a little disjointed, because I have a lot of thoughts and I’ve made a lot of notes on the responses that I got. There’s never any smooth transitions in my blog. When I used to write for the Denver Post, I took a long time to write a pretty short piece, mainly because I wanted it to come off smooth and be written professionally because I knew it was going to be in the paper. Kids get to see it and I want them to recognize that I’m intelligent, and it’s important to me to come off that way. I would even hit up the thesaurus from time to time, which I don’t do now. This blog is me, 100 percent.
But I like big words. Everybody likes big words, I think. It makes you look smarter than you are, or maybe it makes you look as smart as you are. Except when you run across the many people who misuse words, which makes you sound really stupid, and it’s hard not to laugh. Some of my teammates misuse words from time to time. Most of us, I would say, are very intelligent people, but we have a field day whenever somebody messes up. I would share it, but I don’t know, I might lose some friends. I would share a couple of the funny phrases, but I might lose some friends.
I don’t think Mike Bell is my friend anymore because we do the 950 AM show at 5:30 on Mondays together, and I pretty much spent the whole time making fun of him. He got a little upset, but oh well. It’s good radio, it’s entertaining. I’m not going to try to do anything and not try to be the best. We’ve got to get the number of listeners up, and if it’s at Mike’s expense, oh well.
Anyway, the game was amazing, like I said earlier. It was a great win and something that we practice all the time. I was happy to see that type of enthusiasm. We celebrated like a college team. I would say in the grand scheme of things, the first regular season game is probably the least important of all the games. They get more and more important as you go. For us to be that into the game, it was exciting. You can only imagine how intense we’ll be when the playoffs come around.
I do appreciate all the support, although my responses have taken a severe dip to 47 from 70 a week ago. I guess I’ll take credit for last week’s blog not being as entertaining or not warranting as many responses. I also asked you guys to go check out Keela Harris’ blog. Hopefully I’m not losing any readership to Keela. That would make me upset. But you guys should continue to check out her blog and the rest of the blogs, because those people work just as hard as I do to give you guys insight. We really do enjoy getting the responses, it’s kind of a pat on the back and it’s a nice thank you, and it gives us something to talk about the next week.
Like I’ve said, a lot of my friends read the blog and the responses, and they love to find stuff to make fun of me about. Before, it was the sign off, and now they make fun because I get so much love, the way everybody talks about how high-character I am, how I’m a good guy off the field, setting a role model for kids. And I do appreciate all that stuff, but I am not perfect. I feel like I should give a list of all the things that are wrong with me so people don’t view me as some superhero.
I’m sure there are lots of people in my past that wouldn’t write as nice things about me as you guys do. Mostly women, probably. But I’m a perfectionist, most of the time. I have pretty high standards for myself, and that kind of spills over to all my relationships, friends and family. I get really disgusted sometimes with people who are around me and just put out poor efforts. I’m not as close with some of my high school friends, just because of that reason. I feel like I’m working so hard to get to places that I need to get to in life, and they’re still living in momma’s basement. We don’t see eye-to-eye, and that’s kind of bad, it kind of makes me a little judgmental. That’s one for the list.
I’m extremely confident, which could be considered borderline cocky possibly, which most of the time is attractive to people at first. But then they think, “Well, you really think you’re great.” But I mean, I work really hard, and I guess I could blame that on my mom. Somebody has to take responsibility for it. Her and my dad always instilled in me how smart they thought I was and how talented and good-looking… Well, good-looking is obvious. So I feel like that whole segment might bring in some anti-Domonique messages, just to keep my friends honest.
Man, I’ve got a lot of notes for this entry. I was in treatment all morning, just writing stuff because I was bored.
YouTube. I love YouTube. Jumbroncos88 referenced Soulja Boy and “Crank that Superman,” which is hilarious. For those who don’t know, Soulja Boy is a hip-hop artist and “Crank that Superman” is like a dance that goes to one of his songs, and I just found out about this whole phenomenon through YouTube about three or four weeks ago. YouTube is addictive. I get on there and just find stuff to laugh at for hours and hours, so I was watching that. Apparently there are spin offs. They’ve got the Batman, the Spiderman, and my personal favorite, “Crank that Grandpa.” They crack me up, they’re really entertaining and funny.
While I was on my last Youtube fix, I was checking out the clip of Miss Teen South Carolina. That’s great. I love it. That was hilarious, I laughed forever. And there are spin offs for that one, too. There was one on there that was animated. I laughed out loud. It was fantastic.
So if anyone has any good Youtube or viral videos in general, let me know. I will comment on them. I think I’m the king. I call Hamza Abdullah all the time and hook him up with whatever I’ve found or whatever anybody has e-mailed to me that’s really funny. So if anybody can think of something that I haven’t seen that’s pretty funny, I’ll be impressed.
I’ve picked back up my writing class on Tuesdays. Last week, Brian Clark was our special guest, and we did poetry. It was a really good time. Everybody who comes as a guest has to write and read, because the kids write and read at the end. All of the kids are really talented writers and the classes have helped them hone some of their skills, especially some of the artistic writing skills. Their poems were all really deep and impressive, and then Brian went last, and he did a poem about how much he loves chicken. So it was pretty funny.
It was an all-girls group before, but we’ve added a guy and I’m very happy about that, the integration of our writing group. I think that a lot of times just me being there and writing, not going into the gym, I think that the guys there recognize that. Now that we’ve had a guy join, that makes me excited.
I got a lot of love from the Montana Broncos fans this week, aaronb was one of them, and MontanaBroncoGirl. I appreciate that. And BradJamesBroncoFan, from Utah. Just want to thank them and give a shout out to Utah and all the Broncos fans around the world. We’ve got a bunch of people from Europe now. For those of you who don’t know, I was born in Oxford, England. My dad was in the military for 20 years. I’m surprised that we have football fans over there, soccer is so big. But we appreciate it and we love it. We want it to be a global sport at some point. I don’t know if football will ever make it to the Olympics though. It would be pretty dangerous for the other countries.
Cornersfan said he’s a 19-year old firecracker in response to the way I handled the situation with the grounds crew guy, saying that he might have went off. But it’s not worth it. Life’s too short. That’s my advice to cornersfan.
To be honest, he was really just doing his job, and he does a great job. I think we are voted one of the top playing surfaces in the NFL every year, due to their hard work. I honestly believe had I been home for that game, I wouldn’t have had the same injury, just because that turf grabs you and kind of assisted in the rolling of my ankle. So we definitely do appreciate him, and I kind of feel bad for all the bad press he’s gotten. I’ve heard through the grapevine that people have been messing with him a little bit. But anyway, I appreciate his hard work.
SivoCB24 quoted Lil Wayne, and I’m a big Lil Wayne fan, so I appreciate that. I guess you can add that to the list of bad things about me, possibly, because it kind of flies in the face of my message of go to college, because some of Lil Wayne’s lyrics are not always that pure. But I think I view music in the same way I view movies and TV. It’s entertainment, and a lot of times people want to blame rap or hip-hop music in general for things, but nothing that is said in a record is worse than what you see in movies or on TV. I feel like most of the artists are entertainers. They’re acting, they’re playing a part. No one is really that big of a thug or they’d probably be in jail, not making records. That’s one of the things that I preach when I’m with kids is to take a song the same way you would a television show. It’s fiction, don’t go out and simulate it. Although after I saw “Karate Kid,” I did think I was a karate master, so maybe that’s not good advice.
Jp86, a current Maryland Terrapin, just want to send out some appreciation for keeping up with me and the Terps. It’s been three years in a row that our bye week has fallen on the same week as Maryland’s, so I haven’t been able to get back to a game. But I always get back there and hang out, so on our bye week I’m going to try to get back the Maryland and D.C. area. Maybe I’ll run into you.
OrangeCrush_in_SANDIEGO, I really appreciate that little article excerpt about Darrent and my relationship. It’s powerful, motivational stuff, so thanks a lot.
To champrox24, tell all your friends that we are just normal people, we don’t need security guards, you are right. I guess her real name is Paris, so I appreciate the question.
So I guess that’s it. That’s a pretty long one, but I guess I had to come back strong after only 47 responses last week, so I’ll give you all some ammunition to get our responses back up. Keep checking out the other blogs, and I think I’m going to end it with a quote that coach Slowik used and has used before. It’s a Muhammad Ali quote:
“The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.”
Oh, and I have to make one confession. I’ve started dictating the blog, so these are my words, but they are typed by somebody else. The mystery man, we’ll call him the “Blog Master.” So all these long blogs that I put out are not typed by me, they’re just dictated, so he deserves some accolades. Or just mess with him, which is what I do.

Fox! I hope your ankle heals quickly enough to get you back out on the field. You know at times I am really disgusted with people and how they act in the face of a tragic accident like Everetts. After reading that he was in a real bad way on the internet, a lot of the responses from readers were just terrible. I am glad that we not only have guys like you on the team but the rest on the team who have a very high drive to exceed but even more of a drive to do the right thing and be a better person for it. Do you have any pre-game superstitions? I will be at the Raiders game, yelling my head off for you guys. Stay healthy, go get em’ and good luck this week!
All Ready
Fox,
I’m glad to hear the ankle is nothing too serious. I have a habit of rolling mine a couple times a year (football, soccer and baseball) and I gotta tell ya, don’t try to get back on it until it’s healed. The training guys may be a pain, but they know their job, and probably know what’s best for the ankle better than you do.
I totally agree with your big words theory. I write on quite a few message boards, this one and a hunting club mostly, and I always have to throw it words that I think few people know the meaning of. Today my word was “asinine”, and “frivilous” and “facetious” are 2 of my all time favorites.
As far as the hip hop music and movies . . . . I see what you’re point is, and I think most adults can handle the difference. But, I really believe letting kids listen to those lyrics and watch the garbage on tv and in movies does have very adverse effects. They can’t separate “real life” from “entertainment” at times. I don’t know if it turns kids into “bad people”, but my view is that there are so many other, better things, it’s just a waste. How many 10-15 year old kids read anymore?? How many have really red the classics? Mark Twain, Steinbach, Hemmingway, and dozens of others wrote terrific stories that require imagination, and visualizing in ones own mind rather than having an unwanted image forced in by hollywood. How many kids listen to classical music (Copeland, Vivaldi, Devorzak (sp?)) all have really upbeat, great tunes, than you can put your own lyrics to. Then there’s the classic 50′s-60′s Rock ‘n’ Roll that can in no way be contrued as boring, but at the same time, most of the lyrics are harmless.
Anyway , sorry to go off on a tangent like that. I just wish people, and young people especially, could expose themselves to the better things instead of falling into doing what’s easy or popular at the time. A little “flavor” of other things is beneficial but most of our time should be spent with a higher caliber of entertainment (like watching the Broncos, of course).
Well, congrats on the win, thanks for all your hard work, and get that ankle fixed (you don’t want to miss out on the beating that Oakland is going to be handed this weekend).
On that note, I leave with a quote to be given to any Raider’s fan’s that might be thinking about commenting, “It’s better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!”
Fox,
hope you’re ankle gets better. I still get excited when I watch the field go unit run onto the field to kick the game winning field goal and it makes me want to put on pads and go out and play!
You crack me up! I look forward to reading you blogs.
So, I spend a lot of time on youtube too, and there is a guy that makes a bunch of football player vids that are amusing to watch. Some are not right, but he puts a lot of time into them, so I thought I would tell you about him. http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=BradyFan83
I am excited to be going to the game this week. We are driving over from Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday night. Please stomp the Raiders! My husband and I will be sitting in the South Stands cheering you on!
Fox,
Thanks for the shot out, and your welcome for the excerpt. I absolutely love your blogs as it is the one thing that I look forward to on a Tuesday afternoon. This past Sunday was an emotional day for myself to see everyone on the field again. I know you guys have been through a whole lot and to me it was just really touching to see everyone out there again. Im sure every Bronco fan will agree with me. I was up at 6:45 in the morning basically pacing throughout the house. This was a good win that really came down to the wire. I noticed that Jeff Shoate got some PT after you got hurt. I’m not sure if he was in the rotation or if he was filling your spot. Either way he made a couple good tackles. That was pretty cool because I was watching the game with my buddy Shane Johnson who played at SDSU with Shoate for a few years. Shane told me some stories about Shoate and said how he was a walk on at SDSU and eventually earned a scholarship. He also said that Shoate worked at Blockbuster and was taking care of his kid the whole time he was playing football for State. Now that’s impressive. Great win and get that ankle better. We need you this Sunday.
Oh wow! This just in…I am a subscriber to the broncos CBS insider via text and I just got a text update that says “Doctor for Kevin Everett…now says that he will probably walk again.” That is awesome!!!
Youtube searches: “paintball headshot” “urban ninja” and I always like watching the drama with “Charles Krazy Horse Bennett” he is a MMA fighter who is just hilarious.
Keep up the blogs,
James in San Diego
Fox you’re one of the funniest writers I’ve ever read! But even while being funny you can touch on subjects like the influence of media on children, things like that. Takes a lot of skill to be able to work jokes into stuff that’s serious.
Also, they should have you play safety more, talk about versatility! Who else can play two positions that well? Watching you in that Bengals game from my snow filled seat last year was amazing. That game was so cold, my brother from California thought he was going to freeze to death when the game almost went to overtime.
Your’s is the only blog that I actually read on a regular basis so keep on writing, it’s a lot of fun to read! Anyways this is a “comment” not my own blog so I’ll stop here, hope to see you on the field soon.
Hey Fox,
I’ve been a fan of the NFL living in England since I was 14 now (it’s suprising how great a distraction it is from homework on a Sunday evening!) and am off to uni. My brother and I have tickets to see the Fins Giants game at the new Wembley stadium. As someone who at least spent some part of his upbringing in England, I wondered what your thoughts are on the NFL exporting it’s product outside of the domestic market in the US. How would you feel if the Broncos were the ones playing abroad and do you think the rest of the locker room would enjoy such an experience?
Personally, I think it is one of the best decisions that the NFL has had, people used to suggest that NFL Europa was a sufficient substitute but for any fan it was a touch dissatisfying to have such a second rate game (not saying that it didn’t serve it’s purpose, just that it isn’t an adequate alternative).
Also, if you have time, I was wondering what your perspective on Rugby was what with the World Cup going on at the moment and the US putting up a good fight against my beloved England?
Many thanks, Ant
Heya Fox,
Good luck with your ankle this week. I hope to see you play at the game this weekend, since I’ll be in the stands! As with Kevin, I really do hope for the best… I’m liking the good news that we got today, on how he has some movement in his hands and feet. Very encouraging news for sure!
As for the rest of the blog, it was a very fun/funny read (poor Mike Bell, haha). I cruise Youtube a lot as well, so hopefully I got something you haven’t seen before; “GI Joe PSA” Those vids are hilarious, even if some are pretty vulgar.
Well take it easy Foxy and GO BRONCOS! Beat them Raiders!
-CB123
Hey Fox,
I pray for all you guys everytime you are on or off the field. For injury free play and good health. blessing to you and the rest of the team.
ah yes…
the old “i cant type with my hurt ankle” story…
cant go wrong with some classic slyness…
i hope you get back on the filed this weekend!!
although i think my heart did stop for multiple minute increments last sunday, the win was great!!
lets hope we win by a few more this weekend!!

Fox,
Since you happened to mention the Terps and it is college football season, how much trash talking goes on in the locker room involving the colleges that players attended. Are there any crazy bets that the players make with each other. Great blog this week by the way. Hope you are healthy to lay the smack down on the Raiders this week!!!!
Hey fox,
It was good to hear about everett being able to walk again i think its a terrible situation to be that young and have your dream taken from you prematurely like him and other players around the league like denver great terrel davis and the players this year. Just wondering how Hixon was holding up after the situation with everett and the big hit. On other blogs i heard people just talking trash about poor hixon and i felt sorry for the guy being as it was his first nfl game and well it turned out like it did. Have you ever thought of trying to return kicks? I know there are risks and it would be a shame to lose a player like you as in with the situation right now with your ankle but that would be another aspect of your game if you were good as seeing your a good player with some good speed. On another subject about the media how do you feel about the 50 and kanye thing? Hope your on the field this game vs. the Raiders, I hope we stop them out. Good luck this week!
All ready
Hey Dom,
(Anyone call you that?) Glad you’ll be back on the field soon man, and what’s up from Arizona. I saw a few starters in on kick coverage on Sunday. Good thing Champ made that big tackle. I know coach requires all reserve players to have a big role on special teams, but was that planned or just due to injuries? How Paymah doing now? And tell Shoate that he looked good out there – physical, and sharp. For the record, I think you’re due for a int-returned TD this year. Go out and pound the Raiders for us.

Foxy,
First of all that was one of the most exciting finishes I have ever seen in professional football and thank god we won looks like practicing for last second field goals actually paid off this pre-season!!!
I had a couple of questions; does our D do anything to prevent teams like the pats from reading our defensive signals?
And secondly here is for an idea you, champ, bly ought to get your own HOF jackets to open the game this sunday- Chad Johnson’s got nothing on your guys!!!
Lol I hope you can come up with a cool celebration if you get a TD or a pick sunday!!!!
Hey Domonique, You also have fans in Canada. Im 16 and I’ve been a broncos fan since i watched them win the superbowls in 97, and 98. Granted i can barely remember the actual act of watching them. I guess it stuck with me and I’ve become more of a fan every year. I just wanna say i think your a great “character guy” also, with all the incidents involving other players it makes fans proud to see someone who knows what a great situation they are in, playing in the NFL, and makes a consious effort to stay out of bad situations. Good luck against the raiders on sunday i’ll be watching from Regina, Saskatchewan (if your interested check out a map) and thank god NFL sunday ticket allows me to watch my favorite team.
hey d man
i think you and my fiance would get along great, he is infatuated (nice huh) with youtube. he found a great one with a mortar and a terrorist, it didn’t turn out too well for the terrorist.
your a funny guy and i plan on listening in on monday nights if i can get it here in the springs!
hope to see you healthy for the next game!
steph
Thanks again for the great blog. Last week’s was one of my favorites actually, I loved your celebrity stories. I’m sure your lower comment count was due to everyone getting ready for the big week 1 game!
Thats cool to know you check out youtube. I have a couple links that have been very popular, over a million views on each of them. I hope they make you laugh! You’ll think the second one is dumb at first but just wait until it gets stuck in your head!
1. “End of Ze World” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZMwKPmsbWE
2. “Chocolate Rain” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwTZ2xpQwpA
I hope the ankle heals quickly and I know I’ll see you out there on the field on Sunday!
I’ll wrap this up with a question. What teams do you look forward to playing the most? Are they the AFC West rivals or anyone else? I know every win is just as important as the previous one but do you get any extra satisfaction in beating any team in particular?
Have a great game! I’ll be there on Sunday!
hey Fox,
thanks for getting that pick for me in my madden 2008 season. I ran it all the way back and won my game against the steelers. Lets get it done foreel against the FAIDERS.
Dee
P.S
Im leaving Los Angeles right now….Im driving to Investo. Cya there and kick some butt!
Do you play madden? Ill take you on if you want some
Fox,
First i wanna say its great you lead with the “carl everett story”. Being a fan, i kind of had more of a conection to his injury than if it was on another team, just because it happened against denver…i was hoping that he’d be okay because no one deserves that..i almost shouted throughout my dorm room when they said he had moved all his extremities and should walk again..hopefully he’s okay..
I also want to remember everyone that lost their lives on sept. 11. I will never forget that day, and i think it’d be cool if u suggested something to the “boy’s” about doing something on sunday to remember them..if u arent doing anything already…
thats awsome that i was in your blog for YOUTUBE, i still think if someone in the secondary runs one back for 6, you should all do the solja boy dance( take the fine!!!!! its not that much…just tell shanny i told you…he’ll be cool with it) haha but yeah, some other funny videos are from the user “derrickcomedy” and this one is pretty raunchy and quiet controversial…but check out “Unforgiveable” idk it might be funny, or not for you…btw i love being on the broncos website or on your blog(1st time last week!!!) (i think you answered one of my questions last year” and i think brandon marshall, and dre answered a question last week….(derek schilson from springfield,IL or columbia, MO)..i think its great to feel that connection with the team..but im typing too much…i hope youre ankle is okay, and that we come away with a win next week against the girls in black…
Crank that foxy, can’t wait for next weeks entry…
-shill-
hey fox, what’s up. well…it’s definitely a tragedy to see any player go down like that and especially something as defining as a spinal cord injury. you just gotta have faith in the Lord because he knows what he’s doing and as sad as it may be to think of it that way, everything happens for a reason, ya know? Anywho, I hope your ankle is healing nicely and you get to play this weekend. Tough game! Raiders….bleh! Hah.
everyone does like big words, and i know what you mean about people misusing them for the sake of looking smart when in turn it just makes them look really….well not so smart. i try to be very adamant about my spelling and grammar being pretty on track, but sometimes there’s things that you say that just don’t come out very well hah.
on another note, i thought it was pretty interesting how you were just like whatever about the thing with making fun of mike bell and him maybe not being your friend anymore, that seemed kind of odd to me but hey, what do I know, I don’t know what kind of friendship you guys have so i have no idea lol.
Poetry, even if it is about loving chicken, is always good. I used to write all the time, but then lost my muse i guess. I really have no clue why I stopped, I should start again. Maybe I’ll look for my muse and actually find it this time.
Anyway you have a good week and good luck this weekend against Those Guys….take care
~steph~
Yo Foxworth, I just started getting into this amazing website over the summer and i have to say it kicks some serious goods man. I enjoy reading your blog a lot, but man do you worry a lot of what people think of you. None of that matters, they’re all nerdier than you are most likley. i mean…we read your blog religiously instead of kickin it doing everything thats cool. By the way watching youtube has got to lame. read a good book or something. I just finished reading ‘Timequake’ by Kurt Vonnegut. Should check it out, it’s a fast read and quite profound. Anyway fix that damn ankle boy and get out there and wreck shop on oakland.
Thanks for the love, Domonique. Take one back to the house this week against the hated Raiders. I know you can do it. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words. It’s nice to get some recognition from an illustrious professional athlete such as yourself. Whenver I’m in Denver (I was there a couple of weeks ago) I tune into 950 the Fan whenever I’m not listening to the games on KOA. You are the man, our version of Tony Dungy if you will. Thanks again!!!
Hi Fox,
Another fan in England here – Manchester to be precise. I like Oxford, had a friend down there at the University, it’s a nice place. Soccer is huge over here but there are a load of NFL fans. Late 80s, they started showing 2 hours of highlights every Saturday morning and there isn’t much else to do if you’re up at 7am on a Saturday. First game I think I ever saw all the way through was the ’87 AFC playoff – pretty tough not to become a Bronocos fan after that!
Like Ant, I’m going to be at Wembley for the Giants and the Fins but eventually I think I’ll get my ass over to the US so I can catch the Broncos.
As for Youtube – I start with searching for Family Guy and just take it from there. It’s like they built that show for YouTube.

Fox,
Hope your ankle is feeling better–look forward to seeing you in action against the Raiders. Being a former military person, I know first-hand how important favorite sports teams are to the troops overseas, so besides doing a great service to the fans with this blog, you are also are providing a tremendous service to our service members, so thanks for that! I know it helps them trmendously.
I believe the number of responses had mostly to do with week 4 of the preseason–or the traditional lull between preseason and the real season–I wouldn’t be surprised if you top 100 this week.
Good luck this weekend!!!
Yo Foxy,
Hope you’re ok for the Raiders game, i think after Dre’s and Champ’s performances last week, the nickel DB is going to see a lot of action this week, and we all know what would happen if they threw on you. I mentioned really late in the last blog that i saw on the site you were born in Oxford, England? Even though i live in Manchester, i was actually born in a town called Wantage, right in the heart of Oxford
Its a city with a proud educational history (Oxford University is one of, if not the best Universities in the world), maybe thats where you get your smarts from!
Peace out my English brother!
Oh and for your youtube collection …

How dare you call Andrew Mason a Mystery! : ) That would be my guess – we are so lucky to have him as a Bronco and “Master Blogger”
Enjoy the Lord
Hi Fox,
It was great to see the team on Sunday in Buffalo and to get a win, especially with that last second field goal. Being stuck in Western NY I am always excited when you guys come to Buffalo to play. I was at the game, and made a sign that said ALL READY. Even though you were on the road I wanted the team to know that you had some fans that cared.
At the end of the pregame warm up, Nick Ferguson came across the field and gave me a fist bump. It was very touching and I was wondering if you could tell Nick that I appreciated it.
Thanks for all your great posts, get yourself healthy (and be nice to your trainers) and go out on that field, have fun and win some more games.
-Valerie
A true sign of intelligence, a cluttered mind! Nice job bringing it together to the blog! I loved the blog, as it gave your fans insights as to how you think. A creative visionary!
As far as youtube… I love the pranks, because I love to laugh!

Both of them are hysterical! Take care of that ankle! I’m sure the training staff still thinks highly of you!! Never stop asking questions. If you do you stop learning!

hahaha…your own personal “dictationist” (if thats a word, dictator didnt sound right….what was that about sounding smart?)
wow, Mr BIg Time Foxworth now!
haha
go kick the Raiders as this weekend please
Great blog Fox
It was indeed a tragedy what happened to Kevin Everett but I guess playing football comes with inherent risks. I didn’t realise you were born in Oxford, I currently play corner for the Warwick Wolves (it’s near Birmingham, England) university team so any tips on becoming a better player?
Here is a funny youtube clip for ya

Foxy, thanks for the blog! It was an exhilarating win and more importantly tne news on Kevin Everett today is that he’s doing better and may indeed be able to walk again. Let’s keep praying for him!
I enjoyed this YouTube clip but then again I’m a tennis fan, it’s up and coming tennis star Novak Djokovic imitating his fellow tennis stars:

Hated to see you injured last week Fox. I hope the ankle feels good vs. Faiders. sniff sniff I smell a pick this weekend. Go get em!!!
Great entry, Foxy! You’re quite hilarious, aren’t you? Question: Why would any ladies have anything bad to say about you? I can’t imagine that! And there’s nothing wrong with being too confident–it’s sexy! And so are big words. Start with “extrapolate;” that’s not too crazy. Anyway, I hope your ankle gets better, and you return to the field as soon as possible.
(Sorry my post isn’t as insightful as others’; my primary purpose in writing is to help you reach your goal of “warranting” more than 70 responses.)
Hey Fox,
*sigh*
I don’t know what to say about last weeks game. A win is a win, nonetheless. The celebration after the ball went through the goal posts was unreal! I invisioned me jumping in that pile of white jerseys! The celebration at mom’s house was CRAZY!!!
Let me tell you something, Fox. The fans love you. I know you know that. You said something about you not being perfect. We’re human. None of us are perfect. But what I love about you is that you never come off as being “perfect”. You are one of the most humble professional football players in the league. And because of that, you will go far. Not just in football, but in life. I’m so glad to know you. And we are so proud of you!
I read the news about Kevin Everett this morning. Sounds like things are slowly getting better for him. As always we pray for the safety of our orange and blue boys. We are continuing to pray for the Everett family as well.
Good luck this week with the Raiders. Please….let’s send them back to Oakland 0-2.
All ready!
~ChocolateQT
Oh…and work on that ankle, please. Can’t wait to see you out there doin’ what you do!
(Hi Mom Foxworth!)
Thanks again Dominique!
Props to the blogmaster!
Dominique, thanks for the blog, I love it. I went to the game in Dallas and I saw you on the elevator in the Marriott in Los Colinas. I didn’t want to mess with you so I didn’t say anything but is was cool getting to see all of the Broncos. I really like your blog keep it up and please beat the Raiders this week!
I’m off to check out Keela’s………BLOG
Great job Foxxy, get that ankle up to speed. I’m afraid Culpepper is gonna try to be a gunslinger, so we need you BIG TIME in the slot this week. To be honest, we need you BIG TIME every week!!!
Great win, let’s move on to Week 2, and take care of business. ALL READY!!!
Fox,
Sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope you get better soon. Ice is good. I have had many ankle injuries.
As Everett was laying on the field I just had a bad feeling. I am glad to hear he is doing better than expected. My thoughts are with him and his loved ones.
OK, sorry but what is with the high tackling. Since when is it better to tackle a guy by his shoulders and head (Dre’ Bly especially), then at his waist or legs. And if you are going to tackle that high, wrap up for God sake! It just seems to me that players are more concerned about putting a pop on someone to make that highlight reel. I am totally with the putting a good pop on someone, as long as they go down where they are popped. Champ Bailey more than 95% time puts a good lick on someone and they go down! Look at that play with M. Lynch. N. Webster gave him a shot and it was wonderful how Lynch lost his helmet and do-rag , but he still got the first down. WRAP UP for the love of Pete!
Sorry to write negatively after a win. I guess that’s me being real.
And talk about that win. How flippin exciting was that. I think it took two years off of my life but it was worth it. And yes, my husband and I danced around the living room after Elam made that field goal like we play on the team.
Can’t wait for the game against the Raiders. I hope you beat the crap out of them!! I hate them as much as I hate the Yankees!
Go Broncos!
Thx for the blog. Ditto the best for your healing ankle (Ice is your friend!) A question about the Everett injury (so glad for recent news): What goes through DH’s head and how did he respond? Have you guys (pros) seen enough injuries you can shrug it off and keep playing unaffected? In high school, I saw a screen pass coming and lit a guy up, knocked him cold. When he didn’t get up, I freaked inside, didn’t play for s#!t the rest of the game. The guy laughed me out of his hospital room the next day (he was fine). Everett’s injury was a fluke, no blame to be had, but I can’t help but think all but the craziest animals might allow some concern into their head. Also, be careful with mike. When he’s on Mike, Mike, and Mike in the morning, you’ll pay…
wow alot of people have already responded – i feel late! lol! anyways thanks so much for writing me to tell my friends that! they all thought it was super cool! so thanks! anyways…i am so excited for the game!!!!!! i will look for some funny YouTube videos…………………

Hey Fox,
Hope your ankle heals in time for the Raider game. I live in CA so I never get to see you guys play unless it’s against the CA afc teams. My cable company doesn’t carry NFL Ticket.
Am so glad denver has so many prime time games this year.
It’s great to hear about Everett.
Take care, good luck on Sunday and stomp em.
Mr. Foxworth,
I hope that you are feeling better. I’ve had over 10 surgeries on my knees and shoulders so I can relate to the rehabilitation process. I was really engaged by the way the Bronco’s played on Sunday. The entire team had an energy to it that I have not seen in a long time (Elway was QBing and the Broncos were winning Super Bowls!). I see that energy and its effect on everyone. When Coach Shanahan gave his press conference on Monday you could tell that he was excited. You could not only here it in the positive nature of his comments but you could see it in his eye’s. The last couple of years the Head Coach has looked tired and frustrated and for a while I was honestly concerned that he might quit. I saw small sparks at times (your draft class, the signing of John Lynch, and Jay Cutlers draft class come to mind) but during the season you could see the fatigue. His eye’s said that he knew he had the best personel on the field, that he had the right offensive and defensive schematics, but some thing was missing and that some thing was eating away at him. Now that some thing has been found. That spark is there. Even the Buffalo TV commentators couldn’t miss it. “You see the way the Bronco’s are playing? The team has a rythem. It just some thing that Buffalo doesn’t have right now.” It may have been the trials you all were put through this off-season. It may have been getting in the new players, coaches, and watching them gel with the players that had all ready proved that you belong on this team. It was probably a mixture of these things and many more that I do not know about or could appreciate but I know what I see. I see the spark and I love it. I wrote a blog a few weeks ago on Mason’s page about having this feeling that when the Denver Defense breaks out it’s going to be monsterous and alot of fellow blogers agreed with that feeling. Well, I think I heard the first high pitched crack of metal and wood as your defensive monster began breaking out of his cage. Nothing on Jeff Shoat but I’m really looking forward to seeing you back out on the field against the Raiders. I don’t see any running back carrying you into the endzone. Impose your will and dominate!

Mr. Foxworth,
Sorry to be the media tool here but I would really like your input on the “CameraGate” situation with the Patriots. You look at the fact that the Broncos have dominated the”Dynasty” for over eight years and since you became a Bronco with Darrent and Karl that level of play has increased exponentialy. If I’m not mistaken the Broncos don’t use hand signals meaning on an even playing field the Broncons have out played them at every turn. If the defense does use hand signals then I apologize for the assumtion how ever that goes a long way to making a case for the Broncos furthered dominance over the Patriots. What do you think about the potential for this video taping giving the Patriots an advantage and what do you think the punishment should be for violating this rule? Finally, if your allowed to talk about it, while playing the Patriots have you ever felt like they some how new exactly what you were thinking on defense by their play calling on offense. I know it’s a loaded set of questions but I do want to know what you think as an NFL player and more specifically as a member of a defense that has continually had an answer for the vaunted Patriots.
Thank you for you insight.

Hope to see you out there Sunday!

Is this a dude?
Hey Fox what a game I was in the endzone where the Bills warmed up I was yellin for you lol. I saw you on the bench getting checked by trainers it had me scared. I was also on my feet praying for Everett I wish him the best luck and I am still praying. Lil Wayne is also one of my favorite newer rappers by new I mean still in his prime. I love the Wu-Tang Clan I am wearing their shirt as I type this lol I also love Pac . I was goin nuts when Jason hit that game winner I almost fell lol My only bad expeirence at that game was when I was leaving I almost got into a fist fight some guy pushed my mom and kept tipping my Broncos head off I got pulled away from him by my Mom and cousin James. When I went to the Pats game in 2006 everyone was cool so I was a little confused but anyway it was the best game I have ever been to I wish I went with my Dad and Bro but they had to stay and work on the house I can’t wait for sunday BEAT THEM RAIDERS !!
Hopefully the best trio in league gets some INTS …………………………..not just Dumervill lol
I saw that you liked the Miss Teen South Carolina..

Do you like Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia? Great show!
Hola Dom,
Great game we had on Sunday… we finished best!!! For one I must say that my prayers go out to The Everett Family, I’m sure he will pull through. The 1 thing I dislike about Football is that it is a very dangerous sport but most of all I love the game of Football, despicere (despise) the hard hitting you guys have to take. Last year I didn’t get to see The Broncos play often because it’s not televise alot in New York, until I finally got NFL Network and satelite TV, just to see you guys kick butt this year!!!
You don’t have write with intelligence or professionally to get a persons attention into thinking your smart or not… to be honest the readers (fans) really care most when it comes straight from the heart, desafio (despite) weither your trying to make an impression (It really don’t show your character) We love your humor and that’s what we wanna hear sweetie… what Domonique has to say!!! I’ma writer myself, weither it’s poetry, music, sports or reality… It’s a part of you (your thoughts from the heart) stay real, I think you’re smart either way. I do respect what you do, but I would never say your a superhero (Super-Dom Dat Oooo) lol… You’re a good person!!! I’m sure that there are alot of things wrong with You….. Hummm???? but I’m not the one to juez (judge) LOL, keep it on the hush hush and don’t be so hard on urself ’cause your friends don’t want to get anywhere in life, it doesn’t makes you judgmental… just a very good friend and if they don’t realize that then you need to keep it movin’!!!
(give or take) Did you get a chance to follow up on The New England Patriots cheating situation… I think it’s sad personally but leave it up to the big guy in charge. Love ur blog and insight!!! Hey can’t wait until this sunday, Take care of that ankle of yours babe and good luck on the Raider’s game!!! Forgive me for translating a lil’ spanish for ya!!!
My Quote: (To Dom, his friends and bronco fans)
