I’m BACK.
And it feels great. It’s been a looooong time. When you add the couple of months I’ve been out here to the fact that I couldn’t play the end of my senior season, it’s about to be a full year since I’ve been on the field for a game. So being back at practice is great. That’s the only word to describe it. Great. I’m excited, just conversing with the guys, being out there, joking around — just having a great time.
I finally got to do it myself. That’s the difference. When you’re watching practice, you envision it and you wish you could do it. When you’re out there, you get to fulfill what you’ve been doing your whole life. And I didn’t get too winded when I was out there the past two days either, and I credit that to the trainers and how hard Coach Tuten’s been helping me condition since the injury.
As all of you know if you’ve been reading my blog, I’ve been itching to get out there for quite some time. I’ve been staying in meetings — I haven’t missed one since camp — lifting weights while the team was practicing, conditioning in the mornings with Coach Tuten and just doing everything EXCEPT playing.
Now all that’s gone and I’m just with the team. It feels good. It’s a good release now that I’m back on the field playing football. Like I told people after my first practice on Wednesday, it was huge for me mentally to get out there. It just relaxed me, getting back on the grass with some cleats and a ball. That’s all I needed.
I mean, that’s not ALL I need. Practice is great, but when I get to that game, it’s going to be even more of an energy burst.
I doubt that I’ll play Monday against the Patriots, but that’s going to be an experience by itself. Monday Night Football against one of the better teams recently in the NFL. It won’t be that much harder for me on the sideline, even though now I know exactly what I’d do if I was in the game in certain situations. I’ve just got to stay patient because I know I’m going to be out there soon. For now, I’m just helping the team out any way I can, as always.
So I’m excited. As you can tell. On a side note, sorry I’ve gotten away from answering some of your questions, but you all haven’t been asking me many lately. Let’s get that going again on both sides.
Check in next week, and until then my grandmother — Grammies — said it best.

Man glad to see you are back at practice and participating.
What are your goals for the season?
What do you think you can bring to the Offense?
Hey Ryan…….I am super excited that you are back in practice. I have been following you since you got drafted and now I cant wait to see you play as a Bronco!!!
Just wanted your input….since you said you dont think you will be playin against the Patriots on Monday night…..When do you think you will be back? Is there a chance for Miami game?
super exciting!!
I’m so excited its almost time for you to tear it up in a Broncos’ uniform!! I really hope you can play a little bit on Monday nite but if it’ll mess up the rest of the season fo you then I guess I can wait 2 more weeks. I asked you some questions so dig back in the archives and answer those hombre! lol. Can’t wait for Monday nite!! Go Broncos!!
Yo Ryan,
I cant wait to see you play again its been a while.
I hope you will be ready for miami in two weeks.
GO GET UM DAWG!!!!!!!
Awesome!! I can’t wait to see you out on the field! You said you probably won’t get to be on the field playing Monday night? Is that because of your arm or cause you don’t think the coaches are going to rotate you into the line up???
GO BRONCOS
Bro the job is wide open right now for you also. take advantage and out work and preform every back on the team. this is the time that will make or break your carreer and life right NOW. i am rooting for you and hope you come out and show the world who the f’*&ckin man is.
Cant wait to see you out there on the field… I think I speak for many Bronco fans when I say how excited we are to see what you can do in the NFL. We’d love to see you become that franchise guy and be here for years to come. Cutler, Marshall and Torain… a trio worthy enough to become a dynasty!! I picked you up in my fantasy league in anticipation of you playing after the bye week
YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
FI-NA-LLY!!! I can feel now that GREAT things are coming. Can you just imagine how INSANE we’re going to be with this deadly combination – Cutler, Marshall, Torain, Royal, Scheffler AND Stokley (hopefully he comes back soon)?? My mind is swimming now!!
Welcome back Torain!! I can’t wait to see what you add to this team and hopefully you’ll be part of our improvements on getting better. You’re awesome at what you do… come back strong, PLEASE!!! We need you and your help and your talent. Now I”m really excited for this team.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!
im glad to hear that you’re back. i cant wait to see you in action (hopefully after the bye?)
Hey Torain,
did you change your number from 42 to 39? I’m just curious, I saw on the video that you were wearing 39.
Thanx
Don’t forget an awesome O-line.
Our offense is a powerhouse and we need to start putting up numbers like we did at the beginning of the season.
Go Ryan! Go Broncos!
I’m excited for you Torain! Can’t wait to see you against Miami.
Ryan,
Get out there Monday night! Tell the staff you want 8-10 touches! You’ll be fine.
Glad to hear another weapon is getting healthy. We are gona need our entire arsenal for the playoffs. I’ll be there for the oakland and the buffalo ready to witness what u bring to the table.Couple questions from a practice field insider. Who is the best player on the team (straight up not try to be politically correct) and finally who is has the better days in practice, the offense or defense? Get healthIER soon
Great to hear T-Train! I play some madden 09 on the xbox360, and I love subbing you in on some of the running plays, seems they don’t give Pittman any speed in the game, and they make Young and Hall too easy to tackle. Anyway, I love the reaction from the people I’m playing as I hit the truck stick and you plow over their “typically linemen and linebackers” and don’t really slow down! They always ask who the hell that was, and I just say Torain, watch when Denver plays the Browns!! I’d hate to see you re injure anything, so just keep shooting for the game the coaches told you, and if the call comes sooner, you’ll be ready.
My question though, actually two questions.
1. With Cutler saying that he got with the coaches in the offseason and they took things they liked the Patriots offense did and few others, you think our defense will have a killer game having basically played the Pats in practice all season long? Obviously it’s different without brady, and you’re next blog will be after the game but ya.
2. Do you believe what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, especially in injury situations? If so, how much better will you be after you heal up?
thanks for the time.
YeYY!!!! My baby’s back ….. Chooooooo-chooo get ready for the Train!!! See you guys in Denver … and Ryan how about starting that WAVE so many fans are asking you to bring back. Do you know about it and any plans to bring it back? Love you! Grammies
BaadladyBronco GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Lombardi of nationalfootballpost.com said your return will bolster our running game and make us a better team. With you, Selvin and Pittman in the backfield, that will be an awesome backfield. I’m ready to ride our All-Torrain vehicle to a successful season. We can hardly wait, Ryan! Oh yes, here’s a question, where do you get a better steak, Golden Corral or Morton’s?
you looked good in that film on practice. by the way whats your number gonna be 42 or 3 or are you gonna try to get another one when its available. too bad jack williams had to jack yours sorry 26 in my heart man until you wanna be another number lol
your grandma told you too brong back the mile high salute you have to listen to your elders. i love your grandma ryan shes a wise woman
Grandma of the year award haha
Yo Ryan,
I’m absolutely chomping at the bit to see you on the field. I have heard nothing but good things. You are the type of back that was made for Denver’s offense. If you don’t see the field this week, use the bye week to be prepared like no other, then go out there and dominate some Dolphins!!!!!
GO BRONCOS!!
Ryan!!!!!!! you should change your number to 39. that number rocks!!!!! one of the best RB numbers. 34 is also very good. What is your favorite number?
When you finally get your shot, you will shine. Are you ready? Prepare like you are a starter and go take what is yours. Go Devils!
Hey Ry,
How do you feel right now? Do you have any limitations as far as your elbow is concerned, any range of motion issues? Also, do you plan on wearing any sort of brace on you bow? If so, how long will you wear it for?
GOOD LUCK “Torain bring the pain”!

Definitely you’re grandma is an awesome lady and seems like a hell of a football fan! Did your inspiration to play football come from her, or was it something she just wanted to support you in? Seems everyone wants to see that salute. It will seriously send shivers down my spine to see that again!
Don’t rush anything Ryan. Come back at 100% and good things will happen. I can feel it! Glad to chat with ya.

I can’t wait to see you play!! God knows we need you now
. I hope I can get another pic with you sometime soon, my friends are so jealous. Keep up the conditioning, we love you!
Please discuss what steps the coaching staff is taking to get ALL players to protect the football.
8 turnovers in back to back games is unacceptable.
Dude?! Its good to hear you may be ready for Miami! We need you out on the field… especially after last night’s game… ah, heartbreaking!
Ryan, I can’ t believe the kudos the BroncoFans are throwing my way. I’m even more excited now :>) … but proud to be your grandmother for more than one reason son. Just to let you all know ….I never knew a thing about football until I noticed how passionate my grandson was about the game starting beginning of high school … I travelled as much as I could to support him. I wished I could have been there when they had the meet and greet with the Broncos; and tutoring given about the game at Invesco… my work schedule wouldn’t allow it … that would have been way awesome! But I’m learning with the help of his dad and ….. I AM A DEVOUT BRONCO FAN NOW…….. GO BRONCOS! GO TRAIN … choo-choo-choo-ch0000000- chooo-chooo-chooo … wow the whistle’s louder …
I want you to take a mental picture of what Andre looked like walking off the field after that second fumble. You just witnessed your competition for playing time seal his fate. You are going to get your shot man. Now it is up to YOU. Make sure that some rookie doesn’t ever see that look on YOUR face. Now go out and TAKE what you want. Go Devils! Go Broncos!
Ryan-
I love the quotes from your Grandmother. Give it to the train! That’s beautiful! I see a trend starting. Hopefully we’ll see a “mile high salute” when the train reaches the end zone. We are very eager to see the engine rollin’ with the rock.
Yo Ryan, Glad to hear youre coming back, we really need ya.
What do you think of this nickname.. Ryan ” The Pain Train” Torrain??? That way when you take the field we can all scream “the Pain Trains a comin Whoo WHoooo” ala Terry Tate the office linebacker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsqjM9AEqlU. Man i love that LOL !! Anyway congrats man i’ll be rooting for you to do your thang.
