As expected, Travis Henry was not at practice Friday, attending a hearing with the league in Phoenix regarding an appeal of a potential suspension. Head Coach Mike Shanahan noted after Friday’s practice that he did not know when the issue would be resolved.
“I don’t know if it will be the following week, two days later or nine days later,” he said.
As for Henry’s status for Monday night, that remains in the air. He is listed as questionable with the partially torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He saw limited work in Thursday’s practice, but missed all of the work on Wednesday in addition to his Friday afternoon absence, leaving the decision on his status to be made closer to game time.
The news was more promising for safety John Lynch, whom Shanahan pronounced as “ready to go” after he went through a third consecutive full practice. Lynch, who is listed as probable, has missed the last two games due to numbness in his hand that was a result of the neck stinger he suffered on Oct. 29.
“He’ll be ready to play,” Shanahan said. “(There was) no setback after nine-on-seven yesterday, so he should be ready to go.”
Other practice tidbits …
… Wide receiver Javon Walker was officially ruled out for Monday night; he ran and caught passes during pre-practice warmups Wednesday and Thursday but was not in uniform and did not take part in any of the actual practice work …
… Fullback Paul Smith returned to the practice field Friday but was limited; a calf injury had kept him out entirely on Wednesday and Thursday …
… Defensive end John Engelberger, tight end Tony Scheffler and kicker Jason Elam all went through a third consecutive day of practice Friday; they are all listed as probable with shoulder, chest and calf injuries, respectively …
Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was sidelined for a third consecutive day with an injured hamstring and is listed as questionable. Also missing practice Friday in Nashville were cornerback Nick Harper (concussion), and offensive tackle David Stewart (ankle). Titans guard Benji Olson was held out of Friday’s work but his status was not listed; his absence was a team decision.
I’m out; I’ve got a 70-mile drive ahead of me to Fountain-Fort Carson High School, where the Morsels express moonlights for Football Colorado (9 a.m. MST Sunday; FSN Rocky Mountain) to shoot video of the 4A quarterfinal between the homestanding Trojans and the Eagles of Broomfield High School.
Back tomorrow. We’ll talk orange — and orange-outs. Yes, I’ve seen the comments, and yes, we’re going to hype it up over the weekend. I’d change the top graphic of this here page to orange if I could.

I know you wont be able to reply to this, but is there a meaning behind Orange Outs?
Yeah … since I’m still here tying up some loose ends … the link should explain more … it’s a message-board movement, played off of a contest that was on BroncosCountry.com this week, to get as many people as possible to wear orange Monday night.
Orange Out=Everyone attending and not attending the game show your pride by wearing orange on monday. Especially those that are attending. Be the 12th man and show your orange proudly!
I’ll be sproting the orange 400 miles to the south in good old NM. In the meantime glad to hear Lynch is doing better, still don’t know what to think about Henry though, just glad we have Young in the mix he really seems to be able to pick up the yards when we need them, and Cutler has been picking it up nicely. Now if the D holds it will be a long road home for the Titans. GO BRONCOS
Bronco fan from palm desert ca. wearing orange and they (the broncos offense and defense) better show up. I’m tired of hearing it from Charger fans and of all people Raider fans.
So long as the Broncos don’t wear the “cursed” orange jerseys. I am debating whether to wear my orange Champ jersey. Don’t wanna jinx us. What to do, what to do?
Selvin and Henry would be a great one-two punch and Selvin has definitely earned his way on the field. I don’t think that there is a drop off with Young.
Hamzah was great last week and should start. Lynch is good on running plays, but gives up a lot of speed and coverage skills. I thought putting Foxworth at that spot last week in the nickel paid huge dividends. Gonzales was held to 29 yards and Denver wasn’t getting shredded for yards down the middle as they had in past games.
Hey Mason, where does Elvis stand for the Pro Bowl?
Hey bronx2729,
I completely agree with you, that Elvis is having a Pro Bowl type season. Unfortunately, he will most likely be overlooked by anyone not living in Colorado. Unless a Broncos player is named “Bailey” or “Lynch”, they just don’t have much of a chance for an appearance in Hawaii come February. The Broncos get overlooked all of the time. Sorry to sound like a buzzkill, I love the Broncos. It’s just the truth.
GO BRONCOS!!!
I would like to wear my orange monday night at the game, but since I put on my Romo jersey [53] the defense has shown up to play! Also what’s up with ejecting the other teams fans from there seats? I can understsand if ther’e getting out of hand, but at two games I attended they were just cheering on there team. I hope it’s not like that at away games for bronco fans.
I hope the hole city is in orange that would be cool to see go broncos
Is “Hole City” the new nickname for Oakland?
Okay Bronco Fans, ready to deal this time? Nobody wanted to buy a little “insurance” on the Chargers game, and Oh look! San Diego takes the division lead with a missed chip-shot field goal! Hmmm….Well look who’s on the docket this week. Kansas City surely couldn’t pose a threat to the Colts, eh? Don’t bet on it. It’ll cost you $100 apiece to make sure the Chiefs don’t keep up with you in the standings. I’ll be waiting for your checks!
DENDEFENSE: I was at the KC game last Sunday and I had my Bronco colors shining proud. I was yelled at, cussed at and they threw stuff at me before the game but all that was from a distance and they were hidden by the crowd.
Forgive me for saying this but every Chief fan I came in personal contact with was cool. I shook hands with them, we joked around (Until a certain 9 second span in the 3rd quarter) and they seemed alright to me.
Hope that answers your question.
We’ll see what the 07Broncos are made of in this MNF : a loss and our season is almost over at 4-6 , a win and we’re still in the hunt , it’s time to show the nation the Broncos are here !
A smattering of horse-collar tackle fines were levelled by the league this week (strange that Merriman’s blatant infraction drew no yellow during the game), but there’s been no mention of the below-the-belt punch taken by Marshall last Sunday. Is the NFL really going to pretend that never happened? Disgusting.
Well I hope we get Javon Walker back before we face Chi-Town!
I’m out here in TN and the question everyone is asking is “who is Selvin Young?” I hope they use him because the Titans to have much to go on to prepare for him. Oh and they’re saying that Denver is the best place for MNF. Let’s hope they’ll be saying that after a loss on Monday! go Broncos!
That was supposed to say that the don’t have much to go on.
I thought that to i saw the hit on Marshall you tell that was hurt.
Does anybody have an idea when the official decision on Henry is supposed to be announced?
i think we shuold play with 4 Safeties ( Hamza, Fox, Lynch and Fergie)
2 CB ( u know them )
3 LB and 2 DL(Dumervil,Crowder and rotations)
Kinda of a jk but what do u think (Its a joke so i didnt smoke anythin :P)
That’s an interesting idea. Kind of similar to what we had in the Indy game?
I don’t really think Travis Henry is a nessessity right now. He’s good but I think Selvin just needs a little more practice and game time. Soon he’ll be just about as good as Travis.
Also what was Travis busted for? I heard it was drugs but I also heard it was roids. Which is it?
They found some marijuana traces in his urine, not steroids. Jesus Christ, read the news.
Where’s the new blog entry, DAMNIT!
They found some marijuana traces in his urine, not steroids. Jesus Christ, read the news.
So… Where’s the new blog entry?
just adding a few things:
“hole city” refers to oakland, san francisco and berserkeley where most of the faiders fans dwell. It’s the short form of a$$hole city.
To Millerman: tell the faider-fan losers (those not incarcerated) to add up the number of faider wins before they open their mouths. That can be this season, or even every win in the last five seasons. I think that’s the reason the faiders don’t like to win many games anymore; their “fans” can’t count that high. As for the Chargers, just shake your head, smile and say, “marty shottenheimer is laughing his ass off right about now.”
I mailed my check to Adam Vinatieri. If I had known he was serious last week, I would have mailed that one too.
The league will never say anything about the cheap shot to Marshall because that would draw attention to the amazingly poor officiating (i.e. biased) and open up a can of worms.
Just say the words “gambling ref” around the league offices and people will go into cardiac arrest. Must not upset the oddsmakers in Vegas!
As far as the backfield goes: I don’t think we need the fragile babydaddy; clean or not. Selvin seems to be getting the job done and the babydaddy’s performance (even before running into those pesky league rules, again) was falling off and his durability looks unbelievably poor. The question to ask is: “if he fails his appeal, can we recoup some of the money we gave him?”
even though I’m out here in california, I’ll have my jersey on on Monday.
Go Broncos! And remember the two guys this season is dedicated to, they deserve your best on every single play.
We should always keep a LB as a spy because VY could run all day long if he finds openings. He’s kind of a Vick with better trowing power and accuracy. also we should always, I MEAN ALWAYS BRING 5 MAN PRESSURE OR ELSE THEY WOULD RUN EASILY. So our run defense should be the key here and Sam Adams, I hope,, would not play because hes too fat to stop the run!!!! As for the offense, this game should be easy!
Vick had a much better arm and legs than VY. Vick was insane when he ran. He made cuts that made the defenders break their ankles!
mason, will you tell us the outcome of the 4a football game?
Sure hope Lynch comes back Monday, would be nice to have him back. And Selvin Young has already passed Henry… Selvin has proven to be much better than Henry. Henry was good but Selvin is better. Selvin has been given the chance to prove himself and he’s taken that chance and he’s run with it. He’s shown he’s good enough, he’s gotten into the groove of things and even if Henry could come back later in the season, it would be a horrible move for the Broncos if they put in Henry and took Selvin out. Selvin has proved himself… Henry never did. On that note, I’m out of here and I’ll be wearing partial orange with my Cutler jersey on Monday… some orange is better than none.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Henry looked better in his first 2 games than Selvin’s 2 games he’s started. Don’t start a bandwagon just yet! He’s had one good game, ONE! Wait until you see more of him and then you can crown him… Remember, there are reasons he went undrafted. Henry is our back, and Selvin is our back up.
elway07. I have to disagree Selvin is good but it was just one game. The Titans have a way better D then KC. Not saying Young can’t have a good game running but the Titians have had a week to perpare for Young thats why we need Henry. Don’t you think if Shanahan thought for one minute that Henry could not make a impact on the game, he would not play him. Plus playing your old team is extra motivation so you know he coming to play. I know there bad blood with broncos fans with Henry we feel he let us down we have every right. But we don’t have all the facts. till we get them i reserve my judgement.
Well, to me Selvin has had more than just one good game. He’s shown the attitude and will power for the game on and off the field… so far he’s pretty darn good on the field and as of now I haven’t heard of him getting in any major trouble off the field. If you look at Henry’s games, his average gain of rushing yards is probably just under ten. Selvin’s average I know is higher. I see Selvin making an effort… I’m not trying to say that I completely dislike Henry, I don’t, he’s good otherwise he wouldn’t be on this team let alone the NFL… but I see more spark in Selvin than I have Henry. Only time will tell, only Selvin’s continuing games will tell… so far so good, I know he wants to make plays and I like what I’ve seen from him.
I know I’ve spoken strongly about Selvin, what seems to be too soon, but he’s given me a reason to do so. He’s proven himself and if Henry hadn’t gotten himself involved so much in drugs I’d probably like him more… but this team is better off without someone who’s dug themselves a hole too big to get out of. Henry has put all this trouble upon himself and the last thing the Broncos need is a bad rep. I’m sticking with Selvin, he’s shown the promise this team needs. Main point - he’s going to have good AND bad games, but the bad games are no reason to give up on him. If we have faith in him, he’ll have faith in himself. I’ve lost alot of trust in Henry for his drug use… he may be a good player but he should learn to stay away from trouble, the kind of trouble that can cost him his job. He loses his job, he loses a form of payment for the 9 kids he has. He’s gotten himself into some big trouble - the Broncos don’t need someone causing them trouble. Enough of this…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!
Henry is innocent until proven guilty. Some Americans still believe that.
Henry and Young make a great one-two punch. If Henry isn’t ready to go, Selvin is up to the task just as Rod Smith was.
I would like to see Lynch back also, just not on passing downs. Love him but the only thing he can cover with good speed is going to be the news on Sports center or NFL network (most likely next season).
I have my reservations about Sam “I can’t get off the field” Adams, but last week Mallard came in and we had our best week against the run. How much of that success do you attribute to Mallard, Mason? Denver is going to need a run defense this week. Do you have any idea how much playing time Petersen is going to get this week?
Do you think that Dumervil is going to make the Pro Bowl?
Go Broncos!
07 are you saying we have two backs averaging around 10 yards a carry?!?! Come on man!!! That would be an unheard of record!!! I love your enthusiasm but don’t spout off “stats” that you make up…….
And I don’t think a back can “prove himself” after one game. Selvin looks great and I love the way he carries himself, but do you remember Quentin Griffin? First game as a starter, he looked like a superstar. Nice guy, carried himself well…got hurt, became ineffective, got cut. Signed with KC at some point and never heard from again. I hope Selvin has a much better career but let’s give him some time to develop.
I hope Selvin turns out for us he looks really good the two back system will work, if done right. Shanahan know what he doing. Elway07 im with you on the drug thing he should not have put himself in this position. but in Shanahan press confrence he said he believed in Henry and that good enough for me. but if the drug thing is true kick his butt right out the stadium but till then we need him. Putting all our eggs in one basket (Meaning with Young) he’s only a rookie not saying he not explosive and exciting but when healthy I think Henry is great. He bang up now that why i think its good to run both.
I got tix to the game next week in chi-town. Does anyone know if Walker will play or not?
I know I stirred up something with my comments about Lynch and I still have my doubts on how healthy he is. If we do play him it should be on 1st and 2nd downs unless it is a short yardage 3rd down then we also should play him. Abdullah though should play on any definite passing downs. Lynch is to old to play decent coverage and we have seen that this year. Anyways I hope the run D comes through. If we take that away from the Titans in all honesty what else do they have??? Vince Youngs numbers are god awful. So stop the run and we got this one in the bad baby!!!
We need to win tonight and the rest and I’m the biggest Bronco fan ever and Travis Henry need to suck it up because we need him and he need more touches in the game.
Hope our defense shows up! Andre Hall needs to return punts also, he is gonna break one soon. Go Broncos
