It’s been a boring week. I guess not really boring, boring’s not the word. It’s like Groundhog Day, if anybody remembers that movie. Every day is the same.
We’ve been very fortunate. We have a veteran team, and coach recognizes that. When we work hard he gives us ample time off, so I would say this is a “smart” camp. Really productive, and at the same time we’re not pounding each other into the ground.
But when we go out there it’s full speed, so the fans who are here get to see that it’s a lot of contact, a lot of action, and everybody’s going full speed. And when we do that we get some time off.
I think it was last Thursday — like I said it’s Groundhog Day, they all run together — but we had a really good practice in the morning, really fast, really aggressive defensively. In the secondary I think we had one of our best days yet on that day and we got the evening off, which it’s amazing how just a little bit of free time how excited we get for that. You would have thought that it was the greatest thing that could ever happen to us. We got the time off and we all ran out of here as fast as we could.
I just tried to catch up on people who I haven’t been seeing in a while. I went to the chiropractor to make sure everything was aligned and get stretched out and stuff. And then I went and had something to eat with my family, my parents.
Then I went down to the Boys and Girls Club for about two hours and just hung out with the kids because I hadn’t seen them in a while. About a year ago, if you would have asked me, I would have said I really don’t like kids. But I’ve really grown to love a lot of the kids at the Boys and Girls Club. I missed them. I felt like it was something that I had to do, so my dog Cash — a big English bulldog — and I went down there, and the kids know him because he’s been there a while and we had a good time with all of them.
And then the next day was back to Groundhog Day. And I commented on the food last week and I think the catering staff might have taken it to heart, because they definitely stepped their game up.
We had a really delicious Chinese food day. We had some veggie egg rolls and some chicken skewers, I really enjoyed that. I hope they bring that back. And the cinnamon buns — those are awesome. I hope they bring all that back.
And then, more of the same. Practice, meetings, meetings, practice. That’s just what happened all week.
But Saturday was a big day, because a lot of the fans came out and it was another afternoon off. So a lot of the fans came out, we got some live goal-line action, which I’m sure the fans really enjoyed. And again, the defense has done really well, and I think we’re starting to get everything together with the front seven and the run game. I think Saturday was one of our best days up front defensively.
Sorry that I don’t give much offense perspective, but you’ll have to get an offensive player to do a blog to get all that. As far as I’m concerned, defense is the most important thing. And for a lot of the fans that support the defense, I do appreciate that in the blog. I do read all the comments every week.
Also Saturday, some of the kids from my writing class at the Boys and Girls Club returned the favor and came to watch practice and visited me. They brought a stuffed English bulldog, so they gave that to me at the end of practice. So I’m walking into the locker room with a stuffed animal, so all my friends were giving me a hard time, but I didn’t care. I appreciated it. It was real thoughtful.
After that, I went out to lunch with them. They hung around and we had lunch at Old Chicago up the street. And like I said, I’ve grown pretty fond of them and I missed them, and it was nice to see them and see them all getting ready for school and stuff. It’s exciting.
Also on Saturday my cousin had a softball tournament, so I went and checked him out a little bit. I got him an internship with CollegeInColorado.org. It’s a non-profit that I’m a spokesperson for, so he’s been interning there all summer and he’s going to be going back to school in Maryland in a couple weeks, so they had a little end-of-the-summer softball tournament.
They did pretty well. They were fifth, and it’s a lot of state organizations in there, so there were a lot of teams, and they ended up around fifth place.
They were competitive, which I really appreciate. Earlier in the season I went to one of their softball games and they were just easy-does-it and out there to have a good time. It’s nice to have a good time, but winning is a good time as far as I’m concerned. And my name is attached to that organization so I like them to put out a quality product. So they did a lot better than they did earlier in the season.
And the big highlight from Saturday was being able to get back to supporting the Broncos hockey team, which I hadn’t been able to do since camp started. They got a big road win against the Chiefs, which is always good when the Broncos can beat the Chiefs on the road. So it was really exciting to see. It was a close game. I think one of the players actually had a hat trick.
A bunch of the players and I went out to have dinner that night at a restaurant downtown, as if we don’t see enough of each other. But we really do like each other, which is cool to be where it’s not just a job where you come into your office, do what you have to do and go home. I think whether we all worked here or if we all worked around the city we’d still seek out each other and hang out.
So we had a great time downtown, and it’s pretty fun to get to go out with the guys. I think
It was like Jay, Champ, Dre’, myself, B-Marsh was there, D.J. and Veal. Just a lot of really fun guys and we had a good time.
It’s fun to be out watching the fans get all excited. With guys like Jay and Champ, it’s fun to just hang in the background and then they say, “So who are you?”
Generally whenever I’m out with Champ, one of my good friends, I just say I’m his cousin, and most of the time that gets me more respect than saying I’m Domonique Foxworth, which is pretty hilarious. But the longer I’ve been here the more I get recognized.
So we just had a good time, hanging out, eating, making fun of each other. That’s all we pretty much do is just make fun, and I guess that’s one of the things that proves we’re really good friends and that we really like each other, because it hasn’t yet escalated into anything more than some laughs.
For example, Dre’ Bly doesn’t miss anything because he has huge ears and he hears everything. That’s going to be on the blog, I can’t wait. Can’t keep any secrets from Dre’ because those ears catch everything.
But I just want to thank all the people from the blog for responding. Like I said, I really enjoy all the responses. I read them every week. 36 comments? I think that’s a new record, so hopefully we can beat 36.
Good luck to TerpsFan and his triathlon, something I could never do and would never think about doing.
And thanks to all the blog people who showed up at practice and yelled at me. I was able to meet a couple people and put some faces with the names, or the screen names or whatever they are. But I really appreciate it. It’s not something that I do just because they ask me to, it’s something that’s kind of fun.
Oh, I almost forgot. The rematch of the bowling challenge is this evening. We’re going back at it. Like I said last time, if you’re too good at bowling that means you’re not that good at your real job. So we lost last time, but we’re going to try to come back as a defense and win it this time, and I’ll let everybody know who wins next Tuesday.
Anyway, thanks a lot. I’ll talk to you in a week.

Foxy,
Your the man! Just wanted to let you know that this city and all the broncos fans appreciate what you with the community and donating your time and resources to good causes. Anywho keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing you dominate the field this season.

-PARIS (#1 BRONCO FAN!!)
Do you have certain talents, and does it take certain talents to play the nickel back in the Broncos defensive scheme as opposed to starting. I ask because I believe after watching you play for the last couple of seasons, it’s obvious that you have the ability to start, but the team still signed Bly. Does the nickel require switch sides more, or to play inside and out, that maybe you excell at more than Paymah; or was Bly brought in more for experience and competition.
Hey Fox,
Great blog. Love reading it. Being from England I’ve never had the chance to play (american) football - it’s cool to get a players perspective.
I was wondering something - when you talk about the food you’re getting served - it doesn’t sound like the sort of thing I would expect a pro athlete to be eating. I assumed you’d all be on a very strict diet of rice, pasta, fish, chicken etc. especially since you’re training twice a day. Not that I don’t love a good cinnamon bun….
Mike
Hey Dom,
I think your blog is great, you really give us fans a different perspective on everything the players do. I usually never bother responding to blogs like this, because I figure the players never look at the comments anyway. But when I read that you actually check what the fans have to say, I signed up immediately. I live in Wisconsin so I’m not fortunate enough to be able to go see Bronco practices, so reading all the blogs is the best way for me to keep up with the team. Your blog is great, and I think it’s pretty special how you’ve bonded with the kids at the boys and girls club. Keep up the amazing work on and off the field!
Hey Domonique,
I’ve been a broncos fan all my life. I was born in Denver and my family moved to Maryland when I was little. Right now, i’m doing my best supporting the Terps as a junior at UMD, and getting extremely excited for both their season as well as the Broncos’. Before every season starts, I always check your guys’ schedule to see if you’re playing the Redskins or the Ravens over here, and year after year…you guys manage to play the Ravens in Denver. I guess that’s good for you, bad for me. Anyways, I would love for nothing more than to see the Broncos play the Redskins sometime, so you guys can ruin all those Skins fans’ week. I’m sure you remember how they get when you were still in College Park. Thanks again for keeping up with your blog, and go Broncos!
Once again Fox, a great look at what you guys are up to in your “downtime”. I love the comment about being Champ’s cousin.
Hope all the bumps and bruises heal quick and that all the great chemistry will pay off on the field. You are all a great classy bunch of guys and we who call ourselves Broncos fans are real fortunate to have you as our team.
Thanks!
Hey Fox,
Great blog again. I completely agree with what the people have said before me, its so nice to get an inside prospective from you. Like I said on your last blog, I really had no idea what to think about training camp. I had no idea a few of you guys really do care about the fans. That just means so much to me. I really hope I get a chance to see ya practice again soon. Best of luck this week.
Ryan
This is the fan from Houston letting you know that on December 13 (when you guys come here to play the Texans) I will be yelling your name from the stands as you guys head in and out of the lockerroom and trying to get autographs. If you could come say hi or just acknowledge me that would be pretty cool. I’m counting down the days until that game! Don’t forget!!
It is great to see a young athlete who is involved in the community instead of taking bong hits with Ricky Williams, hanging out in strip clubs with Pacman, or fighting dogs with Vick. Too many athletes use their money and status to fuel their egos instead of behaving like role models for the people who look up to them (the kids). You are a credit to the Broncos organization and the city of Denver. Although you may not get mobbed by fans wherever you go like Champ and Jay, you have the ability to do things in the community that is probably too big of a hassle for them to endure. Keep working hard and success, on and off the field, will come. From all of us Broncomaniacs, tell your parents “thanks” for raising such a great son.
Foxy,
You have to go into more detail about the Broncos hockey team or maybe I just have to read through the archives because I just have this image of Demetrin Veal or some of the other D-Lineman playing floor hockey and it cracks me up. It sounds too crazy to be for real. And when you play the Chiefs is Tony Gonzalez out there playing hockey for their side? I just have a hard time imagining the Broncos hockey team. Please, if it’s ever open to the public let us bloggers know so we can come check it out and cheer you guys on!
So glad to hear of your sincere involvement with the Boys and Girls Club. Are these the same kids that Darrent Williams used to spend time with? Well, good job Foxy, keep up the good community work, it sounds like its paying off not just for the kids but for you as well.
And one request? Can we see a picture of your English bulldog? He must be very cute!
Waiting for your next post!
champ24girl
Sounds like you had some fun!
My two-a-days are pretty repetitive too.
Sorry but I haven’t much to say today.
Nice to see a couple guys from Offense hanging out after work with some of the D guys - that’s very impressive and shows an ability to be a team player regardless of position. Cutler and Marshall kickin it with you guys says a lot to me.
Oh, and apparently you aren’t running into any die hard fans??? They don’t know who you are, that’s unacceptable
You wouldn’t get past me and i’m clear out here in Akron, Ohio!!!
Take care, be safe out there and keep progressing for us. We’ve had a bad run of drafted corners but your class thus far has kicked major arse
Hey Dom, Just wondering what team this year are you looking forward to playing the most?
Here is something else you could never do, support wife and five kids ………………..Oh wait you make way more money than I do. Never mind. LOL.
Gets better every week.
You crack me up! Nothing like a great sense of humor.
You all are lookin great…I’ve been out there everyday since last Thurday and I cant get enough. You are looking so good.
I have to agree you are one of the funniest guys
Oh, And Im with drakhorse, die hard fans would know who you are…which means there’s probably not a whole lot of 20-something females who recognize you!! lol…Thats their loss. Its a shame that there aren’t more younger female fans ;( And I mean die hard fans. Football is the best. I actually recognized Preston Parsons while I was out one time and I think I shocked him! haha…it was great. You could tell he wasn’t use to bein recognized so I think he was pretty imprerssed by me.
Anyhow, see you at practice again either tomorrow or Thursday…
Keep up the good work…the kids at the Boys and Girls club are lucky to have you.

foxy
Foxy,
I love the blogs. Keep them coming. I think its great that you guys go out and make fun of each other. Thats how it is with me and my boys. You should read some fantasy football posts in our league…Outrageous. Im from San Diego and actually flew up for Fan Fair a year ago (couldnt make this last one). Ya I love you guys. I saw you roaming around promoting your book. I even had a chance to run into your boy D-will a couple times, I got an autograph (its framed) and some good pictures. Ill send you some pics if you want??? Jpihlgren7@yahoo.com. Anyways, Bly does have some ears on him. What do these guys say to poke fun at you??? Thanks for the blogs and keep up the good work.
I just wanted to say that this was the first blog I have read, and I am very impressed. I am a school counselor, and it is nice to see pro athletes that care about kids like you do. Thank you for not being afraid to be a role model…so many of our kids need one, and with the way they look up to pro athletes as heroes, it is good to see one that gives them something to look up to.
Dom,
I’ve been to training camp twice so far and i have to say i really enjoy watching you guys work hard. I’m excited for the upcoming season. I’d also like to tell you that your blogs are so much fun to read. I admire your persistance in playing behind Champ and Dre’ …Keep doing what you’re doing!
Dom,
I have never been more anxious for football season to start! You guys are gonna be great this year. It is also great to hear about the players like yourself in the NFL that understand life is about giving back to the community. You are a great athlete and an outstanding man. Keep up all your great work on and off the field. Thank you for being such a class act. Thank you also for taking time out of your extremely busy schedule to blog for all us fans. I have really enjoyed reading them.
Fox
This is the 2nd blog ive read and commented to. Ive made the mistake of not reading them, and ill be a regular “member” now. Never in my wildest dreams would i think an NFL player could use his only days off in training camp to support kids that really need him. They must be blessed to have a friend like you. Id give almost anything to be out there watchin you guys everyday, but i live in Springfield IL so its kinda hard to make it. hope you’ll understand.. and id be going to the bears game to see you, but apparently tickets were sold out at the exact time they went on sale a couple weeks ago…i was heartbroken/extremely angry. I might try to get some tickets on ebay though, and maybe to the KC game. It’s not in december, so maybe our football boys can win like our hockey team did. It’s been tough to win there in december. Keep up the great work.
Shill-
Sounds like things are going alright so far. Glad to hear you guys are keeping things tight and having fun too. Just wanted to give you a shout out from your fans here in South Korea, working with the U.S. military. There’s a lot of die hard Broncos fans over here. Wish we could be there to see the training camp. Better believe though that we will be watching every game. When you’re out there practicing, and playing, remember us over here watching. Push a little bit harder on every play. You guys have what it takes. I know you’re going to make us proud~!
Thanks Dominant Fox! It is good to hear about the fondness that our players have for one another even off of the field. I grew up in Colorado and have been “planted” in Kansas City - so I agree; it is very nice when the Broncos beat the Chiefs on the road (even in a hockey game) - So here is to one more fan in Kansas City that wants the Broncos to own the Chiefs @ Arrowhead so my smile will be brighter than all the Chief fans I work with. Thanks and Bring it Strong to Arrowhead this season!!!
Domonique, I’ve got to admit that I am really excited about this season. As the saying goes, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships. As the sellout streak at Invesco continues, I think you know which side of the ball most of us fans are watching. With two probowl corners and two more guys (yourself and Karl) who could start anywhere in the league, in addition to the depth at safety, this has got to be the best Broncos secondary I have ever seen. Hopefully the rave reviews of coach Bates and the new D-Line players can make this a superbowl caliber unit.
We can’t thank you enough for writing this blog. When the majority of NFL news centers around the Vick’s and Pacman Jones’s of the world, it’s good to see a great player who’s willing to take the time to communicate with his fans.
I am a huge fan of yours(who isn’t that posts here?). Just curious if you pay any attention to Madden. They released the stats for some of the players and I think they under rated you, especially the strength stat and tackle stat… Didn’t they see you out there playing safety last year?
Nique who is the hardest reciever on the team to cover in one on ones? Can you give David Terrell a shout out for me? I played ball in high school with him. Just tell him Juice asked about him he’ll remember me.
Hey Fox,
Thanks for doing this blog it’s awesome! Also I think it’s great you take time to be involved in the community and with kids. Do you see an improvement in our D-line’s push compared to last year? It was rare last year to see any O-linemen being driven back, and I feel it really cost us.
Hey Foxy,
I like reading your blogs. It’s cool to get your perspective on things on the defensive side because that’s what wins champions. Can’t wait for the season to begin. I think it is nice to see athletes get involved in the community and props for all your work with the Boys and Girls club.
For you and your teammates to joke around with each other just shows the comradarie you guys have with each other. Go Broncos!!
Yummy!
cinnamon rolls! i think i may have to go get one now! so are they as big as Bly’s ears!
but really you are a truely awesome denver bronco i hope other players strive to reach out to the community in such a rewarding way as you!
Hi Foxy- I just made this for YOU TUBE. It’s a tribute to Darrent. Thought you’d like to see it. We all miss him very much!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMlzdEN1Pxw
Thanks again for the great blog!!! You are becoming a Fan Favorite- did you know that??
Hey ‘Nique, awesome blog this week. I enjoy hearing about your time with the kids from the boys/girls club. I used to volunteer in Houston prior to moving back home. I needed the club when I was little no doubt!
Do me a favor and tell Dre to quit asking me to borrow/trade for my legs everytime I see him at camp! Actually, tell him I’m kewl with trading legs but we’ve gotta trade paychecks too. They’re actually not too far apart… save for the 3 or 4 ‘zero’s at the end of his!
Seriously though, he’s been doing well. I think he’s starting to get his legs back. I can remember two-a-days… Gasser days though! One last comment, it’s fun to see guys like you, Nick, Dre, and Lynch interact with the fans. Keep it up and know that we realize that we’re lucky to have 4 deep at CB.
Fox,
Hey thanks for taking the time to do what so many NFL players forget to do, taking time to keep the fans in the loop. I am stationed at Misawa AFB, Japan and read your blog all the time. I was born in Aurora Colorado i am a life long bronco fan. I have always been a frequent visitor of Denverbroncos.com but never once have i seen a player keep fans as updated as you keep us. Thank you all the way from japan.
Hey Fox!!! That has to be fun hanging out with Champ, Dre, Jay and the rest of the guys (off the field). I really enjoy reading our BLOG. I love hearing from a defensive player. Offense is offense. Shanny’s offensive teams can put up 21 in there sleep. Defense is where I really am excited this year. I hope we can really come together (D-line, LB’s and Secondary). I think the D-line putting pressure on the QB is definitely going to make our secondary even better than it already is. The potential is there for us to do some great thing this year so mark it down: AFC WEST CHAMPIONS!!! That is the bottom line because Tjames238 says so BROTHER!!! Hey Fox I believe that you actually do read all the comments in the BLOG so how about a shout out to me??? Just mention my name tjames238 what do you say? Good luck on the season.
HA! Love the blog man. The Bly comment was funny but don’t tell him I said that. Oh wait, I think he just heard me.
Keep it up, all the hard work, and it’ll pay off.
Can’t wait to see you practice on Saturday!!!
I just love the nicknames you guys have for each other, I wonder what they tease you about. Love the blog, it keeps a few of us posted here in Northern Idaho!
hey man its been great readin ur blog cause i live all the way down here in arkansas so i cant really get out to camp but i made it last year cause i went up there with one of my friends lol … but i actually made it out to my first game last year with my dad (it was my birthday present) we went up to st. louis … didnt like the game but it was fun gettin out there an finnaly watchin u guys … an next weekend me my dad and my two brothers are gonna go up to dallas an see u guys play … good luck this season an ill see ya out there in dallas
Hey Fox,
Wow! I’ve been to practice a few times and you are looking really good! Keep it up. I’m so impressed (and always have been) with our defensive backs and I’m looking forward to the season. Visiting training camp this year was a little rough for me because I had gotten used to seeing Darrent out there. You, Nick and Darrent were always my favorites to watch. Wow, I miss him…..
Thank you for another great entry on your blog. I will get out there at least a couple more times to see my boys! I agree 100% with KMA’s entry. You guys are a great bunch of classy guys! THANK YOU!!!!
ChocolateQT
*Oh….and I could spot you anywhere. I’d mob you in a heartbeat!…..
o yea another thing i forgot to say … i have the best shirt for the game to … it says this is your brain and has a broncos helmet and then it says this is your brain on drugs and has a cowboys helmet … i used to wear it all the time because everyone in Arkansas is a cowboys fan lol … but when i went to a game last year i got it signed by rod smith which was awesome and we r going to take it up to Dallas to try an get some more broncos to sign it so look for me if u can
Fox
I went to camp on Monday and I had a great time! We got to sit right on the 35 in the first row so I had a great view of you and the other defensive backs warming up. You guys are awesome and I appreciate the opportunity to see your talent on display every Sunday. I love reading your blog each week! It provides another dimension to players that is not often seen. You’re a very intelligent person. I can appreciate now the magnitude of graduating in 3 1/2 years; I’m working on it now. Way to go! Can’t wait to see you in action again this season!!
Hi Foxy,
I know that deep down you have to be somewhat disappointed that after Coach Shanahan announced you would be the starter at corner opposite Champ, the team then traded for Dre and signed him to a large extension meaning your new role would be nickel corner. From a team perspective, I believe that trading Tatum and George(2 players who were clearly only going to be backups in 2007)for an accomplished DB such as Dre was a good move. I say this NOT as a reflection on you(I firmly believe you could start at corner for most teams in the NFL right now) but because what Dre said he told you about getting many oppourtunities to make plays this year from the nickel spot will be ABSOLUTELY true. Teams will know early on this year that it will be tough to work the outside of the field and will be all but forced to work the interior, playing right into yours and the safeties hands! This turn of events for you personally could give you an even BETTER chance to showcase your talents leaguewide this year. You always have to be mindful of the future. I will be watching this situation with keen interest! All the best for 2007 and beyond!
ps. Please tell Nick Ferguson all his Bomber fans in Winnipeg say Hi!
Captain Canuck
Fox….
Darin Here….hope you have a great season….still a huge fan even tho I am in Williston ND now….
Darin K
Great blog as always. I really look forward to Tuesdays when you post a new entry. Thanks for sharing so much about your daily life and thoughts with us. It really makes the fans feel like we are even more a part of the team. I really enjoyed that you shared a little bit about your dog Cash. I’d love to hear more about him and see pictures. I guess you can say I have a soft spot for Broncos and puppies!
Foxy,
I’ve been reading your postings for several months now and I’m just amazed at how active you are in the Denver community. I definitely respect players who are skilled on the field, but I respect players tenfold more if they have such a positive, refined, and mature attitude such as yours. That attitude will carry over and you will reap the rewards on the field in no time!
Also, thank you so much for doing this blog. It’s great to actually hear from a player on the team outside of short interviews. All us Bronco fans are blessed to have you taking the time to do it. We’re proud to have you in a Bronco uniform and hope that you will be sporting number 22 in Denver for years to come.
God Bless
hey foxy! i just wanted to wish you guys good luck in the game tonight!
-PARIS (#1 bronco fan!!)
Dude, I feel you on the “groundhog day”, I played minor league baseball for 6 years and every year, spring training felt like the days all ran together. Keep working hard and take it to San Fran tonight!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS ON THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys ALL did GREART!!

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article, but it sounds interesting…
