Broncos-Texans Pregame Notes: Stokley Down; Walker Up

December 13th, 2007 - 5:07pm by Andrew

The roof is open, and under God’s midnight blue sky, it’s close to game time … but not for Brandon Stokley, who is among the Broncos’ eight inactive players tonight after missing both days of practice.

Javon Walker, however, is active for the game after missing last Sunday in the midst of his ongoing recuperation from Oct. 19 knee surgery. He is expected to make his first start since Sept. 23.

Denver’s other inactive players include safety Nick Ferguson, who was ruled out yesterday with a knee injury, fullback Mike Bell, offensive lineman Isaac Snell, defensive ends Paul Carrington and Larry Birdine and safety Marviel Underwood.

Darrell Hackney is also inactive but will be in uniform as the emergency No. 3 quarterback.

For Houston, former Broncos tight end Jeb Putzier is among the inactives. Joining him are quarterback Matt Schaub, cornerback Dexter Wynn, linebacker William Kershaw, wide receiver David Anderson, offensive tackles Jordan Black and Brandon Frye and guard Kasey Studdard.

Houston also announced that another former Bronco, Ron Dayne, will not start. Undrafted rookie Darius Walker will take his place.

Lets hope Javon can play up to his abilities tonight. Go Walker!

Thanks Mason! Too bad Stokley can’t go, I hope Walker will step up and play big.

I think Mike Shanahan associates Mike Bell’s name with some foul four letter word or chain of words and his name may never be uttered again as a Denver Bronco…poor fellow.

  4. John-Jake-n-Jay says:

Javon rested his knee last week, he will be ready because Houston is going to key on B-Marsh

I always thought of Jeb Putzier as the kind of player Tony Scheffler is. It’s unfortunate he didn’t pan out but I’m sure happy we’ve got the scheff.

    Thanks Andrew!!!

I think Walker will be able to step up but I don’t know if he’ll be the Javon Walker we saw last year… I still think he needs some time to recuperiate but who knows, maybe he’ll be a nice surprise tonight, I would surely take that!!! Cutler ought to be one awesome sight as well… he needs to follow through with what he pulled off on Sunday, he’s never been better but I hope he gets better tonight and every game after that. He’s got the talent and potential more than anyone else and I know he’ll bring it out for everyone to just drop their jaws at. He’ll be so good some day that no one, including that Brady guy, will be able to take their eyes off of him… he’s already a jaw-dropper.

The only problem I see with this game is that we have similar teams here… the way they are coached and played, we have a coach on the other team that learned from our coach so I’m thinking this won’t be a very high scoring game but I’d love for our Orange & Blue to give a big surprise to the Texans. I seriously doubt we want to lose the game let alone lose our playoff chances to the Houston Texans… that would just top off our season, I won’t accept that, we’re better than that. We can win this game and that’s what I expect is a WIN - understand W-I-N!!!!!

    GO GET ‘EM BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
