Broncos-Steelers Pregame Notes: Bailey Inactive

October 21st, 2007 - 4:59pm by Andrew

The first news is bad news for the Broncos, as the verdict has come in on Champ Bailey — inactive.

After a week that saw him held out of practice on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and limited on Friday, he was scratched from the 45-man game-day active roster because of the strained quadriceps muscle he incurred two weeks ago against San Diego.

Domonique Foxworth is expected to start in his place.

Joining Bailey among the inactives are safety Hamza Abdullah, running back Andre Hall, fullback Mike Bell, defensive tackle Amon Gordon, defensive end Simeon Rice, guard Isaac Snell and wide receiver Javon Walker, who underwent knee surgery on Friday.

Walker is expected to be replaced in the starting lineup by Brandon Stokley. Gordon, who is listed on the first team at defensive tackle, is inactive for the second time in three games; he was also scratched for the Sept. 30 loss at Indianapolis.

Rookie Marcus Thomas is expected to start in place of Gordon.

Ugh…as I feared. Hopefully progress has been made on the running front, because Bailey’s loss will be felt there almost as bad as it is felt on pass defense. Let’s play hard Broncos, show ‘em your grit!

I was hopeful that Bailey would be able to play, and then we’d be able to stack the box. I doubt that’ll happen with Bly and Foxworth on Ward and Holmes. We’ll need safety support deep on Holmes’, and someone will have to account for Miller over the middle.

In Utah have to get my Bronco news from Denver broncos.com. Could someone tell me what has happened to Rod Smith. I know he was out with injury when the season started, but what is wrong, prognosis? is he expected out for the season? Its going to be real tough without either Javon or Rod.

Suck it up and stop being babies. It @#&$es me off to see a team that quits. I have lived here all my life and love the Broncos, I am tired though of the minute injuries. I mean every year its the same thing. I dont care if you were a pro bowl player last year. This is a new year and you need to perform at the same level. I play football I know muscle strains hurt, and I have had fluid in my knee. I even had ligament damage to my left elbow. But BUT I still atleast wanted to play. Stop being a #$@$% Champ Bailey you are a proven leader and you need to step up to the plate when your team needs you. Now is not the time to feign an injury. The laziness needs to STOP NOW! Be a team player the game is about risks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smith has been rehabbing at the facility … the Broncos have another few weeks to evaluate his progress and decide whether he can return to the roster this season or whether he goes to injured reserve.

    Maceano –

Are you kidding? Just because Bailey is injured doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to play … even healthy players are generally in some kind of pain. That’s the price of playing this sport. And he’s not feigning the injury, as you accuse him of doing. Get real.

    Maceano,

It’s one thing to state an opionion or throw out suggestions for change. It’s another thing to take a “shut down corner”, “one of the best to play the game at his position”, “a proven pro bowler” and “exceptional leader” and tell him to suck it up.

Furthermore, I’ve played football too, but it was never in the NFL. So your injuries that you have had or do have or did have whatever….might have kept you in the flag football game you were playing but I’m certain it wasn’t against NFL receivers. Thank God we didn’t sign you on a last minute roster change. You probably would’ve tried to convince the coaches to put you in.

    I can hear it now:

Al Michaels: “Tonight, we are seeing history in the making. Rothlesburger has thrown for 7,000 yards. John, you gotta believe Ben is picking on one leg willy out there.”

John Madden: “Yeah, you know….you can’t even throw for those kind of numbers on my Madden game. This guys a real turd..”

Maceano, you’ve made history. I think you just might have said the dumbest thing ever posted on a blog! Hell, even LPP is sitting back scratching his head thinking..”O.k., even I wouldn’t say that…” and he makes a living at &^$$ing us off..

So do us a favor..go back to your 1 bedroom apartment you rent with mom, tell her to blow in the end of the Super Mario Game you can’t seem to get to work, and let the real die hard Bronco Fans decide if you have a valid point or should just lay on the ground where Thunder left ya!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!11
