8:52 P.M. MDT: The 77,160 tickets distributed tonight are a Broncos record. The in-house attendance was 76,645.
8:52 P.M. MDT: Packers nearing midfield; they now sit at their 49 … Second-and-6 … Crowd trying to get noisy again … A slew of flags fly as the Packers take a delay-of-game penalty.
8:54 P.M. MDT: Swing pass picks up eight … third-and-3 at the Denver 48 … empty backfield … Favre loses the football out of his hand … He recovers it, but the Pack will have to punt as they face fourth-and-9 from their 46.
8:55 P.M. MDT: Touchback on the punt; Broncos at their 20 to begin this drive with 12:37 left.
8:58 P.M. MDT: Vince Vaughn in the house. “What a great stadium this is,” he said. I should have worn my Speaker City T-shirt.
8:59 P.M. MDT: First Brandon Stokley plays pass defense to prevent an interception, then he slides for a 16-yard reception to move the Broncos to their 48.
9:00 P.M. MDT: Penalties shredding the Broncos tonight … this one, a holding penalty on Brandon Marshall, scuttles a potential game-breaking run by Selvin Young … not sure about the call, but it stands. Andre Hall runs three yards for a first down on the next play (the downfield holding put the Broncos in first-and-2) and Denver now sits at the Green Bay 42.
9:02 P.M. MDT: Well, that was the wackiest three-yard loss I’ve ever seen … if NFL Films still made the “Football Follies,” that Brandon Marshall aborted-throw-run-cutback-fadeback-run would have earned an instant place. Tremendous effort by Marshall to salvage a two-yard loss out of a play that could have set the Broncos back 10 or even 12 yards.
9:05 P.M. MDT: Matt Lepsis called for a false start.
9:07 P.M. MDT: Broncos punting on fourth-and-6 … Teams have combined for 21 penalties tonight … Todd Sauerbrun places it perfectly; it bounces at the 5 and is downed at the 3 by Curome Cox. 8:15 remains in the game.
9:10 P.M. MDT: And just like that, the Packers are out of the goalpost’s shadow; an 18-yard pass to Greg Jennings moves the Pack to its 21.
9:12 P.M. MDT: Third-and-9 for the Packers coming up here at the Green Bay 22 … Biggest defensive play of the game? We’ll see … Favre in the shotgun … and he finds Donald Driver for 17 yards … Favre has this habit of being like Mola Ram, the antagonist in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom — he rips your heart out of your chest and then holds it up and shows it to you before you die.
9:17 P.M. MDT: Denver’s defense finally gets the stop, but with a field goal required, it’ll be a tall order; Glenn Martinez fielded the Jon Ryan punt at the Denver 7-yard-line. The Broncos have two timeouts and 2:27 with which to work.
9:19 P.M. MDT: First-and-10 … Cutler lobs one for Scheffler … incomplete, but Atari Bigby takes the pass-interference penalty. That’s 17 yards. 2:21 left.
9:20 P.M. MDT: Selvin Young goes nowhere. Second-and-10 coming up after the two-minute warning.
9:22 P.M. MDT: Cutler short for Martinez … incomplete. Third-and-10 looms.
9:23 P.M. MDT: Fourth-and-2 now arrives after an 8-yard-pass to Brandon Stokley. Denver calls timeout with 1:37 left.
9:25 P.M. MDT: Here’s the ballgame … Cutler and the Broncos break the huddle … he is in the shotgun … Stokley in motion … high snap … he gets it … finds Stokley near the left sideline for the first down and seven yards, and he gets out of bounds. Broncos can reset at their 39 with 1:32 left.
9:26 P.M. MDT: Shotgun … Cutler witth the pocket collapsing … overthrows Stokley, who wants interference but won’t get it.
9:27 P.M. MDT: Cutler finds Brandon Marshall … and like the Seattle game last year, he bounces off defenders and goes for a ride up the rigth sideline … defensive holding on Charles Woodson is irrelevant, and the Broncos are in field-goal range with 1:16 left.
9:28 P.M. MDT: Cutler and the Broncos at the Packers 26 … shotgun … he gets it to Marshall again, who dances his way down to the Green Bay 14.
9:28 P.M. MDT: Clock ticking … down to 44 seconds … Cutler marshals the team … under center … snap at 37 seconds … hand it to Selvin Young who dances through Green Bay’s defense for an absolutely improbable 9-yard run, turning a 3-yard loss into a gain that now has the Broncos at the Green Bay 5. Twenty-five seconds left. Denver takes its final timeout.
9:30 P.M. MDT: Too much going on to adequately process right now … but the Marshall catch-and-run and Young’s little run … well … let me just say this: WOW.
9:31 P.M. MDT: Cutler looks for Marshall in the left corner, incomplete. It’s the kind of pass you have to call, because while you want a touchdown, you can’t risk a turnover here.
9:32 P.M. MDT: Oh boy … rushing the field goal team on the field after a run … tied … Elam drills the kick. Overtime in Denver. Can’t take many more of these games.
9:33 P.M. MDT: Coin toss … Packers call heads … and they win it.
9:35 P.M. MDT: A low line-drive kickoff … very returnable, but Andre Hall blows the return up at the Packers 18. Crowd going bananas.
9:36 P.M. MDT: Favre to Jennings past Dre’ Bly up the left sideline … 82 yards, ballgame.

“After his “Denver would have burned Jake Plummer at the stake for that, but Cutler? Get ‘em next time, kid!’”
Watch the game next time, buddy. The lineman smacked it out of his hands.
wouldn’t be a game if we won all the time would it?
win or lose i’m a BRONCO FAN and that my friends is why we’re here
next week the lions and they are going down
“Watch the game next time, buddy. The lineman smacked it out of his hands.”
…And people would have said “Plummer was in the wrong position.”
“…And people would have said “Plummer was in the wrong position.”
No, I would still have said the lineman smacked it out of his hands. Because he did. That happened. It’s on film.
diskord: fine, fine…however…
I’ll give you Leinart, but you sorta label Cutler as a 2nd-year 4th-quarter ninja while dismissing the guy who started doing it in the third start of his rookie season and then did it 3 or 4 more times that year. Vince Young, QB rating aside, is still THE quarterback of that draft. Cutler can step over the wounded and poorly-coached Leinart, but he’s got to fall in line behind #10 until the Broncos get some more W’s. That Tennessee team is just as anonymous and depleted as the Broncos in a slightly tougher division, yet they’re 5-2. I’m obviously not a Titans fan, but Vince Young seems to be the real deal so far.
raptor, I really admire your enthusiasm, but I have to mostly agree with Hoss here. I have been an orange and blue fan since before I can remember. There is no doubt Cutler has a “great” arm, and has loads of potential, but that does not make him a great quarterback in my eyes. The great ones are consistently great, and they sustain it over a period of time. If having a great arm made a great quarterback, then Leaf, George, Druckenmiller, etc would be in the HOF. Cutler right now is a good quarterback with a great demeanor, a great arm and a great head for the game. He has 17 tds with 13 ints, close to a .500 win percent, which is a lot closer to “average” than “great”. HOWEVER, he has tons of confidence and usually has a great field awareness. There’s no doubt he seems to have all the gifts the great ones have, but my argument is we can’t call him “great” until he develops and does it over the long haul. I’m not trying to take anything away from the guy, I’m just saying let’s be fair to him and give him some time to grow. Otherwise, people are going to be calling for his head in a year or two (just like every other QB we’ve had here, INCLUDING Elway)……
None of this would be talked about right now if Javon Walker, Nate Jackson, Ben Hamilton, and Tom Nalen where not injured the past few games. With those two in, this offense would be one of the best, mark my words. However, the defense would remain the subject of scrutiny because they are letting up all the big plays and big points for the most part.
LPP- You need to watch the games more closely, that lineman, Myers, knocked the ball out of cutlers hands by blocking down much too fast. I’d suggest getting TiVo so you can re-watch things and actually sound like you know what you are typing.
I’m satisfied with this being a rebuilding season, I look forward to watching the Broncos next season, perhaps with the same, or different coaching, regardless I think next season will be fun to watch with all the young talent this team has. I just hope we get around the 8th or 9th pick in the draft to get a chance at either the best saftey, linebacker, or runningback, maybe shanahan can find some actual gems this year if he tries hard to look for them like he used to.
WhiteHoss and diskorder….
You guys are nuts, well diskorder much more. How dare you say Jay Cutler is better than Vince Young, or has made even 1/4 of the impression on this league that Young and Leinart have both made.
Leinart got screwed by being put on an even worse team then Denver. Young is better than Cutler, that should not even be an argument.
Although I’m sure, 60 Minutes, EA sports and Nike are all knocking down Jay’s door the way they do both Leinarts and Young’s.
I’m sure Jay is being considered right now for the cover of Madden 2009!
and how old am I? I just turned 4 years old last month and obviously already know more than you diskord.
Arizona, worse offense than Denver? With our Injuries, I think not, please study all the teams of the NFL you are going to speak of before you speak of them. Edge at RB, Boldin, and Fitzgerald. Those 3 are enough right there. Better RB and two more established WR’s than denver has, since Javon has been out for all but 2 games basically and hurt in all games. PLEASEEEE for the love of jesus christ LPP, do RESEARCH before you make your posts and watch more games on sundays.
Cutler’s better than Leinart…mainly because Arizona’s O line is worse than Denver’s and couldn’t keep him from having his collarbone crushed. Also, I may be sick of Shanahan, but he’s better than Denny “THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE” Green.
But I DID say Vince was better, LPP, you vulgarian!
jay does not need nike or any tv marketing to help him get publicity .
he will let his arm lead him through the trash talk . trust me i have watched jay play through high school and college and theres nothing he wont accomplish at denver he is a winner . he has a great attitude and really loves this game . just ask john elway how long it took him to get comfortable in this game longer than 12 games. broncos fans please stand behind jay he wont do nothing but get better dont take my word for it just watch this kid grow into one of the best. ps please stand behind coach shanny he is a good leader and man for the broncos. go broncos!1!
I BET EVERY1 WHO HAS COMMENTED HAS GIVEN MASON A MIGRAIN. I BET HE STOPPED READING HALFWAY THROUGH 100 + COMMENTS. I BET HE’S TIRED OF EVERYBODY WHINING ABOUT THIS AND THAT. SO I WILL SAY SOMETHING HE HAS PROBABLY WANTED TO SAY…SHUT THE F@#$ UP ALREADY!! YOUR WELCOME MASON.
ANYWAYS, YOU ALL TALK NONSENSE AND ARE ALL PENDEJOS (PEN-DAY-HOES) AND I STILL HAVE DEEP DOWN RESPECT FOR THE BRONCOS HASTA LA MADRE(ASS-TA, LA, MA-DRE). GO BRONCOS!!!!!
WOAH I JUST READ WHAT I SAID AND F@#$ IS HIGHLITED..CRAZY. I JUST MIGHT EMAIL THAT PERSON AND ASK IF HE’S A BRONCO FAN.
How costly was the Dre’ Bly trade?
Well it cost us the game against the Packers. Here’s why, over the first six games of last year Tatum Bell put up some alarming similar numbers to that of Travis Henry, check it out:
Tatum Bell after 6 games
Yards Avg. TD’s Fum Rec
585 4.2 2 2 55
Travis Henry after 6 games
Yards Avg. TD’s Fum Rec
549 4.6 1 2 52
Now with Bell you get home run hitting speed and with the price to have him on the roster coupled in hindsight with Travis Henry’s legal trouble, it sure would’ve been nice having him around.
Also a costly subtraction in the trade was losing former first round pick big George Foster, listed at 6’5” 338lbs Foster is a huge lose. Erik Pears got manhandled on Monday, by Aaron Kampman. Having Foster there would have shored up that line while providing an extra boost to the running game.
This is why you never trade two good players for a very good player. I’m not even sure if Bly is as good as his numbers make him out to be. He’s always played in Domes which allows him to run a little faster. But on Monday we were missing Bell and Foster not to mention D-Will.
Hey superbowlbound, this page is for people to “discuss” the Broncos. Hence, all the discussion. I’m sure Mason doesn’t mind us talking. Oh, and hasta is “ASS-TA”? I thought it was “AH-STA”…..
LPP, you really need to get a life.
llp were you molested by plummer as a child, or do you always have a hard on for him?
Phil Simms and Dan Marino bolth said Cutler was the best quaterback to come out of that draft so far.
Who ever said I was a dude? Maybe I can’t get HARD. Maybe if I was molested by Jake Plummer I’d be in therapy not a Broncos message board.
But a comment to GO CUTLER, hahahhahahahahaahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahhaahhahahahahahhahahahahha…. YOu just made yourself the biggest DOUCHE by saying you watched Cutler in college and he was a WINNER…
ahhahahahahhahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
11 Wins and 35 Losses, God you’re on CRACK!
LPP I SAID HE IS A WINNER IM NOT ON CRACK HE WILL SHOW YOU LPP GIVE HIM A CHANCE HE DIDNT HAVE THE SUPPORT AT VANDERBILT HE HAS NOW AT DENVER HE JUST NEEDS A LITTLE TIME TO GROW. GO BRONCOS !!1.
I’d been waiting on someone in Denver to write a column about it and “it” finally happened today. The obvious has been stated, Denver is a team that is rebuilding. While it may be difficult to watch for a while eventually I do believe the big plays will begin to happen again. The defensive front has to grow as well, although Shanny benching Moss still has me seeing red after the game the young bucks had against the Steelers. As for anyone doubting Cutler, how about if you take off the blinders. I still feel Shanny needs to let the kid audible a little more to keep us out of those 3rd and longs. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see 8 in the box and change a run to a pass. COME ON SHANNY, START COACHING AGAIN!
Shannahan has never really been a coach. It was easy during the Elway years, u knew Elway could get you there with just a lil hint of talent around him.. Now he has to actually do some coachin and dat genius thing is not working out is it! Someone came up with a genius of an idea of a 5-2 defense. We need to try something becuz Webster should not be a startin linebacker for a NFL team. We have a thousand d-lineman and basically one linebacker. We have the highest paid cornerback tandem in the league, and two good ones if you count Foxworth(paid and gave up way too much for Bly). Heres an idea, y not let them play wrs strait up and lets get pressure on da qb. For the kind of money they are gettin paid it only makes sense to me. You dont pay corners this kind of $$ to play soft zone coverages in crucial situations. Again, the first incompletion Favre had in the 2nd half came on 2nd down and we were in a press man coverage and what do we do? Let him convert the 3rd down by comin back and playin a soft zone. WoW!!!! We overpay players we dont need to, and then let legends like Trevor Pryce go to a great defense like da Ravens. If these are the results we get from a genius then I welcome someone who is not as smart becuz it cant be all the D-coordinators weve had over the years fault becuz supposedly each one was known to make defenses better until they get to Denver. The only constant is the genius of a head coach.
FOR ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DON”T EVER GET OUT OF THIS BLOG: FROM ESPN: (can’t say it any better) JAKE WE MISS YOU!
“What exactly is the plan in Denver? Last Thanksgiving, the Broncos were 7-4, had a highly ranked defense and held the inside track to win their division. Then Mike “The Ultimate Leader” Shanahan showed the door to Jake Plummer and began making wholesale changes in the defense, including firing the defensive coordinator. Since that moment, the Broncos are 5-7, and their defense has plummeted to 25th. Denver’s 5-7 mark in that span is actually worse than it sounds because the Broncos have played eight of the 12 games at home, where the altitude advantage gives Denver the league’s best home record since the merger. In those eight home dates with Cutler as the starter, Denver is only 3-5. The second half of the season looks like a sticky wicket (note: After the London game, beware of cricket terms sneaking into football) because the Broncos already have played five home games versus only two road dates; the remainder of their schedule features three home games versus six away. Thus, Denver already has squandered its homefield advantage for the 2007 season and stands 3-4.”
LPP WE DONT MISS JAKE AND JAKE DOESNT MISS US . LET JAKE BE RETIRED AND BE HAPPY FOR HIM . GO BRONCOS!11
GO CUTLER….
THE ENTIRE world except for BRONCO fans at this point, realizes SHANAHAN made the WRONG decision…………it’s been proven for an entire year now, and unfortunately it looks to be proven for a few more years.
BUt, yeah, go Broncos, can’t wait to see them with ANOTHER early vacation.
LPP: I don’t know where you get your facts from. Everybody says Cutler was a bad choice over Plummer? I think you are out of things to say against Jay and making up things out of your dreams. I talk to lots of other NFL fans in my country and about 1% of them thinks what you say.
In his years Plummer had almost no injury problems in the team, he had an NFL top5 defense backing him up and he still was a mediocre QB. Jay has a banged up team with really bad defensive playcalling and he still can find a way to give the team a chance to win!
Please look at John Elways first year. Do you think that putting him on the field was a bad idea?
I am absolutly sure, that Jay will prove people like you (luckily you are a really small minority) wrong. In my eyes he already has proved he is a good QB and will be a big star in the years to come, but I see that whatever he does, it doesn’t matter to idiots like you.
Plummer was a scrub. Thank God he’s gone. We won games despite Plummer, not because of him. Cutler at least gives us a chance to win games.
Anyone know what he’s 2 minute drill QB rating is compared to his overall? Andrew?
again play the kids on the d-line, 3 of the 4 draft picks were used to improve the pass rush, these guys were getting pressure and forcing turnovers against pittsburg why the did not play on monday i dont understand, so on obvious passing situations i want to see dumervill and moss at the ends, thomas and crowder at the tackles and let them go get the quarterback enough said!!!!!
boy i dont know what to tell you guys…..(sighs) all i know is that my jay cutler card collection is on halt for a few weeks or so…im just really glad that nothing serious is wrong cause i couldnt handle it…i kinda got teary-eyed as i saw cutler squirming on the ground, it hurt to see that kid go through that kinda pain ya know….HOW BOUT GETTING A DECENT PASS BLOCKING LINE!!! you cant be letting that kid get hit like that!!! im just disgusted by the broncos flat play…its as if the defense just quits if they are getting beat to bad…and the offense shows no heart…THERE’S NO HEART ANYWHERE…EVEN ON DEFENSE…but what do you expect when you release TREVOR PRYCE and AL WILSON like they are yesterday’s garbage….you tear the heart out of anything the body dies…Im talking specifically about AL WILSON…i dont care if he couldnt play anymore or not….it would still be nice to have his voice in the locker room!!! you just release 2 defensive stars/veterans, because….cap room…because injuries….and now look!!! The Broncos are DOOMED for like a really REALLY long time….Jay Cutler or not….they have no heart!!!!!
