Broncos-Jaguars Pregame Notes: Henderson, Crowder Inactive

September 23rd, 2007 - 1:05pm by Andrew

Perhaps the biggest news among the pregame inactives is the absence of Jaguars defensive tackle John Henderson, who will sit out the game after suffering a blow to the head in the Jaguars’ Week 2 win over Atlanta. Henderson had been listed as doubtful throughout the week and did not practice Friday.

Rob Meier will replace Henderson in Jacksonville’s starting XI.

For the Broncos, defensive end Tim Crowder will have to wait another week to make his Denver debut, as he is inactive for a third consecutive game. An ankle sprain kept him out for the last two weeks.

Joining Crowder on the game-day inactive list are safety Hamza Abdullah (hip), running back Andre Hall, guard Ben Hamilton (concussion), tackle Ryan Harris (back), tight end Stephen Alexander, wide receiver Brian Clark and defensive tackle Antwon Burton.

Linebacker Jamie Winborn is in uniform and will make his Broncos debut today after being inactive last week.

Joining Henderson among the Jaguars’ inactives are kicker Josh Scobee, running back LaBrandon Toefield, linebacker Clint Ingram, center Brad Meester, tackle Richard Collier and defensive end Kenny Petway. Wide receiver Matt Jones joins them as the Jaguars’ third quarterback, meaning that he cannot line up at wideout today. Jones was a quarterback at Arkansas before becoming the Jags’ first-round pick in 2005.

More to follow throughout the day …

    Hey Andrew,

Wow, I’m bummed to see Ben Hamilton is still on that list. The guy has been a real player for us. Obviously, he can’t go until he’s cleared, but the longer he’s out the more concerned I’m getting about how severe his injury is. I heard that the league is placing special emphasis on concussion treatment this year and not rushing guys back out, so I hope they’re just being cautious and he’s recovering okay. Do you think in previous years he would have been back on the field by now?

Great piece on TD, by the way. Really sums up how a lot of us feel about the guy. Glad to see we’re giving him his due today, but still wistful about a brilliant career ended to soon.

SBBB: KOA radio used to stream the games, but can’t anymore due to league rules. The only way to get the game on the net I’m aware of is to shell out for the NFL Field Pass from Real Networks. It’s not a bad deal if you can’t get the games any other way, plus you get to listen to KOA’s broadcast team, a very Bronco-friendly group for sure. : )

    Hi Andrew,

I am currently watching the Jags & Broncos. I have read that Andre Hall was on the inactive list for the first 3 weeks.

Why is he listed as inactive? Does he still have the problem with his hammy from preseason?

    Thanks in Advance.
