4:15 P.M. MDT: The crowd boos, looking for a pass-interference penalty against Jaguars cornerback Brian Williams after an incompletion for Brandon Brarshall.
4:16 P.M. MDT: One play later, on third-and-4 from the JAX 35, Jay Cutler finds Brandon Stokley … who makes the catch in spite of the pass-interference penalty that was called. Denver now at the Jaguars 19.
4:18 P.M. MDT: Broncos with their first rushing first down of the game, via a Travis Henry run …
4:19 P.M. MDT: Broncos with their first touchdown of the second half, as Henry takes a toss pitch and sprints into the end zone for a 6-yard scoring run. Denver trails 20-14 with 12:41 remaining.
4:22 P.M. MDT: Outstanding kickoff coverage for the Broncos, but Mike Bell gets shook up at the end of Jacksonville’s 20-yard return … he walks off the field under his own power … Jaguars will start at their 17, and the crowd is finally back into it.
4:24 P.M. MDT: D.J. Williams tackles Maurice Jones-Drew up the middle … now second-and-7 for the Jags at the 20. The table on which I type is shaking.
4:25 P.M. MDT: Now … no more shaking. David Garrard finds Marcedes Lewis for 18 yards, moving the Jaguars to their 38 with 11:21 to play.
4:26 P.M. MDT: Second-and-9 for the Jaguars forthcoming at their 39 … Crowd back on its feet … waiting to feel the table shake … it’s loud, but no shaking … there it is, but not as much as before … and the crowd is silenced again by a 23-yard Garrard-to-Greg Estantdia connection just past Ian Gold.
4:28 P.M. MDT: Jaguars now at the Denver 26 … and a Jones-Drew run takes them to the 24. Less than nine minutes left now.
4:29 P.M. MDT: Good open-field tackle by Nick Ferguson on George Wrightster limits the Jaguars to a 5-yard-gain; now it’s third-and-4 at the Denver 20. Crowd on its feet again … Garrard under center after being in the ‘gun … he keeps it on the draw for 19 yards to the 1-yard-line. Clock will dip under seven minutes before the next play.
4:30 P.M. MDT: Jones-Drew knocked back at the goal line on first down from the 1 … Garrard pressured and floats a pass into the end zone on second-and-goal, but Karl Paymah is called for pass interference after making contact with Wrightster.
4:31 P.M. MDT: The Broncos need a miracle …
4:32 P.M. MDT: … and they got it … a loose football upon which Curome Cox falls. Nick Ferguson forced the fumble.
4:34 P.M. MDT: 6:11 left, and a long way to go … 96 yards with no timeouts, and a touchdown needed.
4:35 P.M. MDT: Now 97 yards to go after Cutler is sacked by Reggie Hayward.
4:35 P.M. MDT: Cutler finds Javon Walker for six yards, but the Broncos still have fourth-and-6 at their 9 … punt team not taking the field.
4:36 P.M. MDT: Incomplete … Cutler found Graham at the 30-yard-line, but he couldn’t quite bring it in … Graham then spikes the football in frustration; that penalty will be assessed as half-the-distance for the Jaguars, giving them the football at the Denver 4.
4:38 P.M. MDT: Jaguars now inches from the goal line after Jones-Drew nearly scores.
4:39 P.M. MDT: A delay-of-game and an end-around later, the Jaguars are back near the goal line, about a yard and a half away. The clock bleeds precious seconds; it’s now down below three minutes.
4:40 P.M. MDT: Garrard keeps it and is stopped by Dre’ Bly and a host of Broncos at the 1-yard-line. The Jaguars will let the clock sill to about the 2:10 mark before kicking a 19-yard field goal.
4:43 P.M. MDT: The field-goal attempt is from 18 yards … and it’s good. Denver trails by two scores, at 23-14.
4:47 P.M. MDT: Many fans streaming for the exits as the Broncos attempt to mount a late-game drive … Denver gets to its 45 with 1:48 left after Selvin Young goes 20 yards.
4:50 P.M. MDT: Cutler intercepted by Sammy Knight … and with no timeouts left, that’s game.

Touchdown!!!!
How many penalties have we had to decline now? Seems like every time we scratch out a close play, there’s a penalty against Jacksonville that we don’t get yards for.
They are making up for all the penalties we were assesed for earlier in the game that stalled our drives.
this defense can’t stop a troop of girl scouts looking to sell cookies
“Defensive Coordinator” Seems all that’s been “coordinated” are the press releases about what a genius our new defensive coordinator is. Even Greg Robinson did not get shredded like this . . .
Wow….. we get a miracle and can not do anything with it!!! That pretty much sums up this game for the Broncos.
The Broncos went for it deep in their own zone with 5 minutes left? I know they had no TO’s left and almost converted but that strikes me as ridiculous play call. Now they’re gonna lose.
Oh well, not Cutler’s fault. It’s the penalties and the D’s inability to stop the long drives that killed ‘em.
Yeah once again our “Rookie” qb who is suppose to be the third best of that class comes out and plays a very good game. We have got to find a way to stop the run or this season is going to be very long.
Hells Bells AGAIN, Mason!! Who is in that booth???
We can cry about the defense all we want but it was those two turnovers before and after the half that cost the Broncos the game…not the defense.
uhhh, the defense allowed 200 yards rushing . . . that’s not going to win football games
With games coming up against Indy, and Pittsburgh, Broncos needed this one. Ouch!
Shannahan, are you senial os just stupid?
gotta hand it to the Jags, if you wanna beat Cutler, you’ve gotta keep him on the sidelines.
I’m lookin’ forward to a lot of Cutler/Marshall connections, and a lot of fun in the future.
Are we about average or what. Our defensive line is a joke. Mark my words, the colts will put up about 40 on us. Sam Adams said he would make the pro bowl with whatever team he played on this year. Funny how we have the worst run defense I have ever seen. Also why is Hixon returning kicks? Is he really the best we have. Are you paying attention to what good teams are doing against teams we barely beat.(Patriots vs. Bills) Call me whatever you want but the truth is we are an average team at best. I am very dissapointed with bates right now. And please quit making excuses about a new system. Thats old!!!!
this is bull stuff
The Broncos basically got smacked in the mouth. Dj Williams is as soft as they get and Simeon Rice might be a good talker but thats it. ON the offensive side of the ball I thought Shanahan was way to conservative. Why is Tony Scheffler not playing. Daniel G TE should have made that catch on 4th down another great free agent acquistion.
I still say Ferguson stinks never makes plays.
I agree with west coast they are average!
One more thing Special Teams was horrible again!
Hey, you are what you are. There were a few key plays that we didn’t make and a few turnovers that sunk us. Jags got back to playing like they always have — tougher than most people give em credit for. It’s a tough loss, for sure. Not sure we’ve earned the right to be a top 10 team, for sure. We’ll know more after the next four opponents — Indy, stuggling mad SD, Pittsburgh and the revitalized Green Bay.
By the way, did you all see Lane Kiffin’s move at the end of CLE/OAK? All those complaints about how Shanahan yanked the Raiders’ chain last week, and they go and do THE EXACT SAME THING TO CLEVELAND!! I was freakin’ rolling. Can’t wait to see all of last weeks’ whiney Faider quotes posted on their own message boards! What a bunch of jokers!!
C
Defence, where is tha defence,i havent seen nothing yet in the first 3 games,my son could of ran the that defence,i do truley think its the new defence coach we got, why’o why did we get him
Wow… We suck…
Say what we want about the D, we put 8 in the box and they still ran all over us. Losing Lynch didn’t help matters any. Complete bonehead play by Shanny to not punt the ball. Oh where, oh where is Scheffler at????? If Grahm is such a “great” TE, why cant he haul in that open pass, and why do we have 40 rush yds? On a positive note, Marshall is the real deal….he is gonna be BIG this year!!!
I’m not going to fault Shanny for the 4th down gamble. We had no timeouts, so you basically needed a three-and-out and Jax was running all over us. Our best hope was to keep the ball in Cutler’s hands, and if D-Graham had held that perfect throw we had a decent chance to pull a third straight game out of our a**. I say it was a gutsy instinct call by a coach that saw the writing on the wall if he sent his defense back on the field.
The linebacking corps and d-line is just too soft, and the O-line got manhandled today. Two freakin timeouts and the best they could come up with was a QB sneak?? Cutler’s the real deal though, and so is B-Marshall. But I think this defense is two years away from being real.
I do not fault Shanny for going for it on 4th down. If we would have punted the ball they would have just ran it down our throat like the rest of the game. Our defense is a complete joke except for Champ and Dre. Whoever got rid of Gerrard Warren should be fired before this day is over. Its sad to see our offense with all the upside but our defense is a joke. College teams could probably run the ball down out throat. I am very dissapointed with our coaching staff. We have the worst run defense in the league and all I keep hearing are excuses. Please do something about it our fire Bates and get someone else in here that will fix the problem. Please dont wait to next year. My kids are tired of me being in a bad mood on sundays.
Ok…its a couple hours later and I am finally calm enough to go to this website.
Look people without naming anyone specific players, our defense totally stinks. As a whole we cant tackle and our rush defense just doesnt exist. It looked to me that the jaguars did not even put pass plays in their game plan. I mean 10 plus carries by a quaterback whos not micheal vick? Thats ridiculous. Then lynch gets hurt and that HELPED alot! (NOT).
I dont know what to say….im frustrated. My thing is, I dont mind losing but its how you lose. For example, remember last year when we played the colts at home. We rocked. The colts rocked. They had the last drive…and they were the better team that day. Ok fine, we lost. But us fans lived with it because we played hard, and we saw all the effort the team put into winning against a good team. Ill finally admit it, these past 3 weeks have been a joke. Its just caught up with us. Guess we’ll see next week.
Sorry If Im being a punk right now….I cant help it.
Hey WESTCOAST, your not alone. My son hates me when Im in a bad mood.
Can somebody please answer these two questions?
1. why does hixon return kickoffs and punts? Put mike bell back there.
2. why does jevon comes out the game all the freaking time? Is he fixing his socks or what?
No run defense , you can’t win a game in the NFL , that’s plain and simple !!We NEED to improve in this aera if not , pass rush , brilliant air attack will be of no avail .All we have to do now is improve , the 2 first games , we were lucky to get the w but when a good team comes in town , they exposed our flaws .The season’s not over , we have time to build a championship team , maybe not for thids year but couple next , remember tenessee lat year so far in the season .
well cutler has only played 8 games which is a half of a season….so in reallity he is still a first year player in my eyes….he’s going to have good games and probably some really bad ones…its all part of learning to manage the game…i remember J Elways early years and he turned out just fine…jay is good and is only going to get better…
Andrew,
I’ve been wondering ever since Warren was benched in the pre-season what in the world the Broncos were thinking. I’ve always thought, despite how much he gets called disappointment, that he was one of the key players on our defense. If we had Warren and Adams side-by-side, the other team would have a hard time deciding who to double team. Do you think he really didn’t “fit the scheme” or do you think there were other reasons for his trade? I don’t think it is nearly as bleak as some make it out to be, but I am pretty tired of hearing about “the scheme”.
Nate Webster needs to read the gaps better. He ran right by one into a wall of big men while Taylor ran right by him for a big gain. If he had just run into the THAT gap he could have stuffed the play. Bad game all around though. penalties are killing us.
Did everyone forget that the Jags are a good team and that we historically have problems with them? They’re huge on the D-line and that gives our O-line alot of problems. We didn’t run the ball, so we didn’t win. It wasn’t the D or Daniel Graham, or Shanny’s call on 4th down.
No, we’re not the Pats or the Colts.. But there is a quality team here. And the season is only 3 weeks old. Calm down and stay positive.
sicknessfl….Do you even know football. You sound like Shanny after all 3 games saying how the teams we played were tough. What happened to the bills when they played the Patriots. Stop making excuses. We have some of the smartest fans in the league and we love our Broncos. However we will call it for what it is. Our defense is a joke, plain and simple. We have to be the worst defense in the league. Sombody please correct me if Im wrong. Right now it looks like a huge mistake bringing in Bates. I will not comment on the offense because they are pretty good right now and they keep showing signs of how great they will become. I am very impressed with Cutler and look forward to many great years with this kid. Santa I know its early but all I want for Christmas is a DEFENSE. Please!
every nfl team every sunday is tough. did anyone expect them to go undefeated? probably not. as madden was saying all night last night: “great teams make mistakes and lose, but they don’t keep doing it…” (that is not an exact quote…) so having run up against some static, how wil they respond? hope is a beautiful thing, and it is what enjoying football is all about. although, if you are one who just wantsa to moan and complain, my suggestion is to go crawl back into your hole and keep it to yourself. as denver fans, we have been spoiled for DECADES now with exceptional teams and a winning tradition. welp… keep the faith. 2-1 isn’t a bad place to be right now. and just so you know… the WILL lose again… let’s just keep them to a minimum, eh? (and by the way, the players would have an extra boost if they knew that the fans backed them in a challenging time… don’t let the negative vibes permeate the press and get to their ears…)
alright- go broncos…
GOTTA LOVE THOSE BRONCO’S!!!!!!!
Westcoast: I’m sure I know football quite a bit better than you. This is basically the same Jags team that went 12-4 in 2005. They were down a bit last year, but not much has changed.
They were 2nd in the AFC in rushing last year, averaging over 150 yards a game and they ranked 2nd in the conference in defense against the run.
I would say that constitutes quality.
Perhaps before you go questioning someone else’s knowledge of the game, you should check your own first.
Like I said, you can’t gain under 50 yards on the ground and expect to win with an offense that’s still trying to gel and get things together on a consistant basis.
TRUE DAT..
