7:27 P.M. PST: Broncos move to the San Diego 37 … and Jay Cutler runs up to the San Diego 16 on the next play, but there’s a flag down at the San Diego 30, an area around which Cutler ran … the penalty is on San Diego, so it is declined.
7:29 P.M. PST: Denver’s offense showing some vigor and verve on this series … Matt Lepsis is back in the game.
7:30 P.M. PST: Third-and-2 at the San Diego 3 … Cecil Sapp gets the call and picks up close to two yards, but it’s ruled a yard … Fourth-and-a few inches now … and Matt Wilhelm corrals Sapp as he receives the handoff.
7:35 P.M. PST: San Diego goes three-and-out after taking over at its 3-yard-line.
7:36 P.M. PST: I will be working on the game recap throughout this quarter, so my updates will be a little less frequent … please feel free to discuss the proceedings in the space below.
6:40 P.M. PST: Another Broncos possession goes by the wayside, as Luis Castillo bats down a Jay Cutler pass, allowing the Chargers to take over at their 49-yard-line.
6:44 P.M. PST: The Broncos force a three-and-out, and will regain possession at their 14-yard-line after a Glenn Martinez fair catch with 6:18 left.
7:52 P.M. PST: After an exchange of punts (I sound like the late Lindsey Nelson narrating Notre Dame highlights), the Broncos take over at their 13-yard-line with 3:55 left in the game.
7:59 p.m. PST: And it’s all about running out the clock now … good night from Southern California, and merry Christmas.

Listen everybody, im just as pissed off about the season as everybody else, but having a fire sale is not the answer, besides with the salary cap we wont be able to do that. As bad as everybody says we are it was so many games that we moved the ball up and down the field but just had costly penaltys and couldnt produce in the red zone, if we had a better red zone average we would be gearing for the playoffs right now. Also on defense the problem has been on third down, we get the other team in 3rd and long and only rush three, thats not on the players thats the coaching staff who needs to work on their play calling. For everybody expecting jim bates to get fired you can forget that happening. Then we would have to start all over on defensive next year. We just need to pick up a couple more pieces. keep lynch in to stop the run and for blitzing and a few more pieces on defense and we will be fine. Tom nalen should be back healthy next year and he is a pro bowl center who we lost and that affected the whole offense line. As far as rivers yeah it was sad he taunted but you know what only way to get back is to play better, so im not going to cry about that, only people he has to respect is in his locker room, we will be back and they wont win the super bowl and there window is closing, remeber the reason we dont have alot of first round picks is because we have been consistent for so many years.
I agree denverr…
It’s important to remember how young, green, the DL was this year, but they’re all so talented things will be better next year. They need to draft another good young linebacker though because depth there seemed a weakness. And yeah they did lose two great OL in Nalen and Hamilton, which was also helped ruin the season. I have a lot of faith for the Broncos future, I really do, I just think they need to add a few more people on defense and they’ll be fine. As for Rivers, I’m over it, I don’t care, he’s insignificant and immature. I’m glad they traded Brees or they’d be a definite super bowl contender this year. We’ll get ‘em next year guys.
Merry Xmas Mason and all you Broncos fans out there.
lt2323 is obviously clueless. First off, the only reason rivers is not the worst QB in the league is Tomlinson. If something happens to that guy 90% of SD’s offense disappears. And a trash talking idiot is not going to be able to fill that gap. If anyone needs proof just check the SD win/loss records for when LT has a bad day.
Second, getting sacked 4 times in one game is a lot. Check the stats and do some math before you say something quite that stupid.
Yeah, norv turner is the answer. I see an early vacation for the bolts . . . AGAIN.
just want to say merry christmas to all broncos fans. if we are paying jay the big bucks then let him make plays instead of standing back there and wait to get sacked . what happened to the option we have scored plenty of points when its in the game plan that would keep the defense on its heels. how can anybody blame our corners we never blitz we put no pressure on the qb. get cutler a line for next year nobody likes him on this years line they dont even help him up after sacks. jay keep your mouth shut and make them pay on the field you are very athletic but run out of bounds instead of taking hits you dont need to be taking our tackling is pathetic. mike needs a new offensive and defensive cordinator. happy holidays!!!
yea i would take cutler over rivers anyday. Honestly, LT2323, your right, 4 sacks isn’t an outstanding amount, but it is significant. Also, you have to acknowledge all the knockdowns and hurried throws. You can’t expect to see any quarterback throw that well and maintain rhythm. The chargers have a good pass rush, you got 6 picks off the great peyton manning. I’m also pretty sure any quarterback would look good with LT in the backfield and having 8 defenders in the box to stop him. If I’m not mistaken, the chargers went 1-3 with Norv giving most of the offensive duties to rivers. LT got you to where you are now.
GO BRONCOS
It’s unbelievable isn’t it? a bolt fans coming to a BRONCOS site and running his mouth AFTER his team had already won.
I saw a lot of quit in this team Monday night, on both sides of the chalk. I think it’s time to clean house top to bottom. Starting with the entire coaching staff–repeat, ENTIRE.
Broncos fans – we are all disappointed about this season and some of us show little respect for individual players on our team, blaming them for the losses. How can we, after all the comments we made, expect players or fans of other teams to respect the Broncos?
Some guys (fans and players) have class, others don’t. There might even have been some trash talk on this forum in the past – or am I completely mistaken?
Let’s stop talking about Rivers – he does not deserve it. His actions create his own image on national TV, no matter what we write here.
Let’s stop complaining, that the players, who soundly defeated the Broncos, are classless in victory – we might happily pick up one or another as a FA and cheer them later for their same deeds.
I am looking forward to next season.
- Behind a stronger O-line our offense will score. We do have the skill players! I am not sure, wether the zone blocking scheme is outdated due to defensive progress, or if our line was just too inexperienced to function coherently (which I believe). Anyway, we need more strength at OT, the run game suffers, when the interior linemen have to help outside.
- On defense, our problems lie in the front seven. I like our DE’s, but we need a run-stuffer and help at LB. Williams at MLB recorded a lot of tackles, but many after missing the right gap and having to correct his own mistakes. He is a gifted athlete, but does he have the “football intelligence” for this position?
- I still believe our corners should stand out, there is a lot of talent at the position.
- Please get us a safety! I love Lynch, but he should retire for the sake of his own health. (Experience only helps for a while. You get older and slower, are half a step behind the play and either miss or get injured, because the hit is from a wrong angle. I myself could not believe to be too old to play at 40 [team handball, a somewhat rough sport, typical for Europe] and learned the hard way.)
- Special teams: Keep Elam, even if he does not kick off. A punter should not be hard to find. How about that college guy who stabbed his teammate to become #1? Martinez and Hall can be good returners. The ST-unit consists of adequate athletes, but their play has lacked coordination, which is to be corrected by coaching.
- As a fan, I will not call for individual players to be cut or coaches to be fired. I have been disappointed in many aspects of my teams performance this season. But who am I to point fingers at individuals? Football is a team sport. I feel not qualified enough to decide, which part of the engine has not worked as designed and caused this complete collapse.
In spite of all disappointment, merry christmas and best wishes to all true Bronco fans from far away Germany!
After a tough loss, I look at my kids and remember, what is a passion but still a game and what is really important in life.
Go Broncos 2008!!!
i like to look at the comments from opposing teams forums to get a perspective from the other side. first of all, the broncos are a class act. but please quit whining about rivers. i was there on the sideline that game. he did talk a lot of trash, more than he should have. believe me, there was provocation. he did not start it. the cameras only wanted to show some drama. thats why you predominately see him. as for LT, he was just commenting about the talk coming from the broncos, especially because they were getting a beat down. as for not scoring in the second half, were not the pats(completely no class) who keep there qb in in the 3rd qtr with a big lead
SDFAN4LIFE THE CHARGERS DONT LIKE US AND WE DONT LIKE THE CHARGERS WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THIS. GOOD LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS.
