Bailey Leads Cornerbacks in Pro Bowl Voting

November 15th, 2007 - 10:44am by Andrew

Champ Bailey

On the field, Champ Bailey appears well on his way to an eighth consecutive Pro Bowl trip. In the fan voting, that appears to be just as much the case.

Bailey currently outpaces all other cornerbacks in the voting, with 183,109 votes so far. He is the only Bronco currently in the balloting lead at his position.

Bailey is not only the top vote-getter among all cornerbacks, but is outpacing all but one defensive player in either conference — that man being Indianapolis defensive end Dwight Freeney, who was recently lost for the season with a Lis Franc injury in his left foot.

Pro Bowl voting continues through Dec. 11, with the all-stars announced on Dec. 18.

The fact that Champ Bailey is in the lead for cornerbacks, and now the Freeney is out, he leads all defensive players in the NFL, just shows the kind of talent tucked away here in Denver. Nalen, Lynch, and Bailey have all made multiple appearances. GO BRONCOS! Champs got my vote all the way! And so does Jay!

  2. WhiteHoss says:

Well, this isn’t a surprise on any front. Not only has Champ been far and away the Broncos’ best player since he was acquired for Portis, he’s still CHAMP BAILEY. I wish we had 52 more like him.

  3. Bronco Maniac says:

Champ Bailey is one of the Broncos’ best players,he diserves to go to the probowl. He is not doing as well this season as last season but he is a really great player.

  4. bronx2729 says:

Bailey is no surprise for a Pro Bowler. He is doing it in different ways than he has in years past which is amazing and just shows what a truly great player he really is.
I think another Bronco player who should make the Pro Bowl is Elvis Dumervil. If there are two players playing consistently on Denver, it is those two. They bring it every week. Elvis has come up with a big play or two in all Denver wins and even in thier losses. Elvis is in the house every play. I hope teams keep underestimating him as KC did. He single handedly turned that game and this defense around. He will have double digit sacks this year and maybe double digit forced fumbles if anyone else on that line starts to get pressure.
Right now I think he is the MVP on the defense, if not the team!
Can’t wait to see Dumervil on crushing Vince Young this week!
    Go Broncos

YEAH ABOUT THAT DUMERVIL, THAT MAN IS AWESOME. I HOPE HE STAYS WITH THE BRONCOS FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER, HE REALLY HAS HELPED OUT A LOT ON DEFENSE!! ALSO IF HAMZA GETS TO PLAYMORE, HE WILL BE A GREAT ASSET TO THIS FOOTBALL TEAM. HE HAS THE SPEED, HE CAN WORK OUT A LITTLE MORE TO GET THAT HIT RIGHT BUT HE CAN STILL TACKLE AND HES TALL…THAT IS WHAT THE SECONDARY NEEDS IN OUR TEAM…BUT I KNOW SHANNY KNOWS WHAT HES DOING, CUZ IF HE WASNT HE WOULDNT HAVE MADE THEM SUPERBOWLS OR STILL BE A COACH FOR THIS TEAM!!

GGGOOOOO BRONCOS!!! GO CHAMP,ELVIS,HAMZA,DOM, SHOATE,BLY, MALLARD,ADAMS,ENGLEBERGER(I THINK PERSONALLY, NOT GOOD, BUT STILL ROOT), DJ,WEBSTER,AND GOLD AND GO JAY,SELVIN(IM STARTING TO THINK HENRY SUCKS, AND HOPE FULLY SHANNY GETS YOUNG IN AS STARTER, HE WONT REGRET IT) WALKER,MARSHAL, STOKLEY, GONZALEZ,SCHEFFLER,GRAHAM, KUPER,LEPSIS, AND IF I DIDNT GET YOUR NAME , YOU TOO!!! LOL GO BRONCOS BEAT THE REST OF YOUR SCHEDULE SINCE YALL ONLY PLAY TWO MORE TEAMS THAT HAVE WINNING RECORDS AND THE REST (STINK LIKE KAKITA BROWN EH!!)

Not bad for someone who “quits” as someone on here posted…Amazing what the rest of the NFL freakin world thinks of him….

You go Champ!!! One of the BEST to ever play that position!!!

p.s. please disregard any retarded statments from raider fans!

    Go Broncos!

  9. matymaddog says:

I looked at the pro bowl ballot and Dumervil wasn’t even listed.

They had Engelburger and Simeon Rice over him

  10. O_O says:

How did you find all that information out, Andrew? Is there a way I can see all the Pro Bowl Voting leaders?

  11. vegasbronco says:

We need to start a write-in ballot for Elvis. He definitely deserves to be in that game.

  12. KoobLis says:

Elvis will be there if he keeps playing the way he does. Cutler will be there next year and so will Javon.

  13. Broncos20 says:

No surprise at all,,,Champ is da best!!!! He definitely has my vote and always will..I agree on Dumervil. Why isn’t he in the ballots?? He should be on it!….
Go Broncos! Lets show the world how exciting Monday Night Football should be…I heard that the Titans have the #1 run defense in the league right now…well,,lets have Selvin and Travis put that to the test..!!

Could you be as stupid as you sound! On the Broncos Website, there’s a thing called a roster…It’s spelled R O S T E R. Now idiot, a roster is a list that contains all the names of players on the team. It’s in alphabetical order (Oops A-Z) and you could have easily just cut n pasted in here as compared to blogging in CAPs to make yourself be heard! Seriously…Man Up! Please…what would your mother or english teacher think?

Go Denver…Let’s make it 2 in a row! I’m really feeling that you’re about to hi your stride! I still believe you can win this division. Keep hope alive boyz!!!

  15. HOGblog says:

AndrewMason…You’ve not said a word lately about Mike Bell. Is he really hurt or has he found the “Doghouse”?. It’s amazing that every other back is finding a good fit on this team, or at least finding their own niche’. But Bell seems to buck the trend….any inside scoop.

Broncos goes to 5-5! Take the division! Who’s next?

  16. WhiteHoss says:

Seriously even if the Broncos had lost 6 in a row I don’t see them losing this game. The matchup is too uneven. That receiving corps is CAKE compared to the Denver secondary and the Titans don’t have their attack properly adjusted around Vince Young…it’s seriously a miracle that they’re 6-3 and were nearly 8-1.

If Denver goes all out to stop the run, man-to-man coverage from Bailey & Co should be enough to keep the Titans under 14 points, maybe even under 10. Jason Elam’s good for two or three FGs, all we need is Cutler’s weekly TD pass or maybe a defensive score.

The only thing that could absolutely kill them is turnovers. Every score’s going to count here because this won’t be a high scoring affair. 20-13 Denver sounds nice, but it may end up closer to 13-9. Either way, they should win without too much stress unless Vince Young has his 2007 breakout game…and he won’t this week (for the record, it’ll be NEXT week when the Titans visit Cincinnati.)

  17. watchtheboard says:

Elvis should start inthe Pro Bowl…there I said it
Champ is the best, better than Deion because Champ tackles
He is not doing any worse than last year, teams simply pick on Dre Bly (wouldn’t you)
Marshall should get some votes the kid is a stud

  18. comebackkid says:

People would rather run the ball against us then throw against Bailey and Bly.

  19. Let "Let Plummer Play" Blog says:

watchtheboard is right on. Elvis should not just be in the pro bowl. He should be a starter, too!
